Really amazing barbecue, and I highly, highly recommend! We had 2 orders of the 1/2 pound smoked brisket meal with sides of creamy mashed potatoes and street corn salad. We also ordered the kid version mac and cheese. Smoked Brisket: My oh my, it was heaven on a plate! I definitely enjoyed eating it and will be coming back for more. I love the way it was seasoned but not overly powering. They also have barbecue sauce on the side which has a nice smooth flavour to it. Creamy Mashed Potatoes: It was surprisingly good! Usually I find mashed potatoes just ok, but this one was very addicting. It was a garlicky and creamy, definitely a hit at our table. Street Corn Salad: I did enjoy this salad, but I must say that I'm not too familiar with cotija cheese. It did have a bit more pungent flavour than I'm used to. Regardless, I can appreciate it. Mac and Cheese: Yummy in my tummy! It's a very simple dish, but the cheeses they used were so good it's hard to resist! Service was really good. They did check on us a few times, and the owner even stopped by herself to check on us as well. I do have to mention that this is a cashless place, so make sure to bring your card. First time trying the Copper Hill and it's a cute, small fast casual restaurant. You have staff greeting you right when you walk in and to the right you can find indoor seating. I had the bowl which you may customize and I chose rice, chicken, chipotle sauce and veggies such as red peppers, corn, bean and onions. The bowl was a perfect size I do think the chicken portion was a small amount compared to the rest of the bowl, only downside but the chipotle sauce had a perfect kick! Some other orders we got were the tri tip bowl, pulled pork meal and tri tip meal which everything was overall good, although the baked beans added as a side dish wasn't a fan favorite. I just returned from my first experience at Copperhill BBQ on Newhall Ranch Road in Santa Clarita. VERY pleased with the food and the service. A friend of mine had recommended the brisket, but I ordered the pulled pork. (I'm a sucker for pulled pork.) Luckily, Kevin (the owner's son), brought us a sample of the tri-tip and brisket and I do have to say, the brisket certainly WAS amazing and I was regretting ordering the pulled pork...until it arrived. It was yummy too!!! Very tender. I appreciated the array of sides to choose from and went with the brussels sprouts, as they are my favorite. But my friend had the mashed potatoes and he was very pleased with them. It's a casual, order-at-the-counter type place with both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is limited though. But we were lucky and got the last table as it was peak lunch time. When we left, rush hour had past, so there was more available seating. The service was incredible. Everyone was so kind and helpful. However, the brisket was questionable. They are selling it as "smoked meat" but my order was a soggy mess. It looked more like it was slow cooked in a crockpot. It was unlike I've seen at any BBQ place and more like what I make at home without a smoker. The cut of brisket lacked marbling where you see large streaks of fat across the brisket. There was fat content throughout which reminded me of a different cut. Also, it was served in small 3 inch by 2 inch slides and not the way brisket is typically served with long pieces. I suspect they subbed a different cut of meat for brisket. I got my food so fast and it's chopped up like an expensive restaurant would be compared to the drop lettuce from a bag restaurant. I don't think I could cook my tri-tip this good either. OK, so I should've made a review the first time we came because it was fantastic. But now we've come back again and I'm even more impressive the second time so yeah, it's really that good. Brisket was on point melted like butter in my mouth. The pastrami was absolutely amazing so flavorful and again like butter. Sides were great mashed potatoes with a little skin, a little chunky and for me that made all the better. So far, I haven't tried anything that wasn't really good. As far as the staff goes, they are super friendly, and super helpful, and the owner Kevin really knows how to run a business. Comes to every table checks in on you and goes out of his way to really make your meal fantastic! We've been waiting for this place to open, and were excited to finally get to try it last night. We enjoyed it and were surprised by a number of things. One is the flavors of the meats. The tri tip, the ribs, and my brisket sandwich all had a distinctive, delicious flavor. I say that because most BBQ in my opinion is fairly similar in flavor. The side dishes too are very original, and healthier than the usual. One thing that surprised us was that they don't have French fries on the menu. That seemed almost un-American!They have a large selection of salads and even a few pasta dishes that we're looking forward to trying someday. The dessert list was somewhat unique too, although here we tend to favor the simple things like brownies or ice cream, which they don't have. So if you're in the mood for something a little different, you might want to try this place. We had 2 sides as well, mashed potatoes and the spicy slaw. The Sandwiches were huge, and absolutely Delicious! The Spicy Slaw is so yummy, and has a kick. We were in the area for a facial and decided to look for a place for lunch. A quick check on yelp and this fantastic place came up. Boy am I happy it did! First, the dining area isn't very big, but it is extremely clean and you can tell they took their time with all the decorations. I love that they incorporated copper into the actual decor. The staff are some of the kindest, most helpful people I've come across and customer service. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner. She was very friendly, helpful and working her tail off like the rest of her staff. You can see that she leads by example. Now for the food! I had the pulled pork meal with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and Texas toast. My husband had the tri-tip and brisket meal with mac & cheese. We ordered extra sides to try. We had the garlic lemon green beans and potatoes and rajas dish. We both thoroughly enjoyed our entire meal. Every single item was delicious. Now for the star of the place! Their banana pudding is by far the best I've ever had! The flavor, texture and taste were all above average. I'd definitely be going back and bring our family to join us. We were in town for my godsons hockey game and this place was so close to the rink. I ordered the Brisket with mashed potatoes and texas toast and he ordered the Tri tip mac and cheese texas toast. Visited for lunch today with a friend. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable and spacious. This is an order-at-the-counter restaurant, then they give you a number, which you put at your table on a tall spindle. A server then brings you the food. Service was jiffy. Drinks are self serve and -- miracle of miracles -- reasonably priced. Aren't you sick of being charged $4+ for a soft drink? At Copper Hill BBQ, the fountain drinks and iced tea are $2. I made sure to tell the owner, Laurie (sp?) how happy that made me. If you're with kids, they can get a milk or an apple juice for only $1! I ordered a tri-tip lunch which came with a generous portion of sliced BBQ tri-tip and a choice of many side dishes. I selected their Southwest Quinoa Salad, made with quinoa, of course, and black beans, roasted corn, red bell pepper and chopped red onion in a tangy vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious and there was plenty of it. All this was served with a piece of Texas Garlic Toast. My friend ordered the half-chicken lunch with coleslaw on the side. She gave me a taste -- the coleslaw was fresh and crunchy with a perfect tart/sweet dressing, and she really enjoyed the chicken. We also split a side of roasted cauliflower with a cilantro dressing (it's also available with a cheese sauce, if you prefer). The only small flaw, in my view, was the toast. I found it to be dry...needs a bit more butter before going on the grill. Beyond the menu, we saw a sign touting a special sweet treat -- Banana Pudding. It was classic. Super yummy. There are several other options on the menu, such as a flourless chocolate bar topped with chocolate ganache. I may go back just to splurge on desserts! Also worth mentioning -- this establishment wants you to use only credit or debit card or Apple Pay. A sign on the counter indicates that they do not accept cash -- for safety reasons, ostensibly. I get that businesses want to ensure their employees aren't vulnerable to thieves, but hey, bills and coins are still legal tender in the U.S. So I hope they reconsider this policy. I have visited this restaurant 3 times and each time have been disappointed. Seeing how good the reviews are, my hopes were high yet were crushed. Price: The pricing is the only redeeming factor of this place. Pricing is fair and lower than most other similar places. The specials they have are amazing value. Food: Meats: This is the most disappointing aspect. The meats are overcooked and very wet. Too wet. The seasoning is decent but lacking. I had the brisket, tri-tip, and pork loin. If I had to suggest one, I'd say the brisket, but they were all not great. I will admit that there are no BBQ places in the Santa Clarita Valley (or even most of San Fernando), so it's better than nothing. Sides: All of the sides I tried were not good. This does not count the Texas toast; however, it's pretty darn hard to mess that up. The mac n cheese was way too watery and had no flavor, the stuffed mushrooms were very dry and also somehow had no flavor, and the Brussels sprouts, which were "roasted," ended up being undercooked, although they did taste good. Overall, while I have been disappointed with this place, it was mainly because my expectations were so high due to the overly positive reviews.
