The medium spice was reeally hot, but in a really good way! There was a lot of lamb in the briyani and cooked medium-well. The portions sizes are very generous, you'd definitely have leftovers! They do serve alcohol including normal beer, imported Indian beer, wine, etc. All the seats are red diner booths, so it does give diner vibes but I didn't mind. There's plenty of parking available. Our visit here on cinco de mayo was not totally intentional but we figured we'd beat the typical crowds plenty of parking I was surprised when I walked into Copper Pot to find what I could tell was at one point an old school diner. We were seated right away and we're given plenty of time to decide what to eat. My husband got some of the more "traditional" picks for a non-Indian food connoisseur Lamb Tikka Masala, Mango Lassi, and Samosas. The food was fresh, but was it amazing? Not quite. And the portions for the Tikka Masala were a bit on the small side. What got this place to a 4-star was the Copper Pot Tikka Biryani. A bit spicy, but so flavorful and something I had never tried, but would definitely want to eat again. And the portion size was much bigger. So maybe plan on ordering family style. One star for service since we never got to the food decided to go for our first time today after receiving an email about their great value buffet even though it was past 12 some of the dishes weren't even out there yet. We were greeted very coldly especially when we were asking a few questions about the dishes because they look nothing like the menu. It was almost impossible to see any of the chicken and the chicken dishes so my husband grabbed the spoon to stir it and was immediately scolded for "stirring a dish" she said you're not allowed to stir any of the dishes which I'm not sure how you would serve them onto your plate otherwise. We were merely trying to find the chicken as the chicken biryani had none in it and the green curry chicken looked disgusting with a bunch of fatty pieces. We asked if there was any white meat chicken dishes and we were rudely told to order alacarte if we wanted white meat. Funny because some of the other local Indian buffets know us from repeat customers and if we ask for a certain dish that isn't on the buffet that day they will always bring us a small portion. But all local buffets typically have at least one dish with white meat chicken . While my husband was looking at one of the dishes she made him move so she could put the sign up that describe the food because she was so irritated with him. We left and went to a different Indian restaurant where we are treated like gold. There are three other restaurants in the area that are fantastic and treat everyone amazing! If you can get past the naysayers, complainers of service, the diner-like appearance and the portion size, this spot is for you. My Mark has had this place on his list ever since he learned they served sambar - this south Indian "soup" is hard to find in local restaurants so when he finds it, the restaurant is automatically added to the bookmarks. We were immediately greeted and offered a table - anywhere we wished. Casually flexible even though there were maybe 7 or 8 other parties in the place, nice. We went right into ordering: Haywards 5000 to drink, Mulligatawny, sambar, Ghost Rogan Josh, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and mango chutney. No crumby service tonight, quite the opposite: efficient and speedy and no nonsense - water was filled nonstop, empties collected quickly with a swift delivery of the check. Would have liked the little extras like papadum, pickle and chutneys - without them however meant not a lot of leftovers. No complaints here. I would probably dine here again if I happen to be on that side of Redondo Beach. Food was tasty but I did notice we weren't offered a spiciness level or was it we failed to ask? Ordered delivery multiple times and each time was perfect. The aloo gobi methi is creamy and delicious. The onion rava dosa is the best and saves me having to drive to Little India. The chicken biriyani hits the spot with the raita! The butter chicken is also good with naans. read more

I live in the area, and walk by this place all the time. I was really excited to try out the restaurant, especially after hearing about the vegan menu. One day on my walk I saw a kitchen worker come out to the back and sit in the break chair. When I walked back home I saw him again, this time with his SOCKS OFF AND HE WAS FURIOUSLY PICKING AND SCRAPING DRY SKIN OFF OF HIS FEET. I was blown away, and when I went inside to address the manager of the restaurant and let him know what I saw, a different employee let me know that the manager wasn't in (shocker) and when I told him why I wanted to speak to him he just responded "Oh that's just the floor washer" and didn't seem to care at all. It keeps happening too! I've seen people behind the restaurant since then (today! for example on my walk), and today the guy at least had socks on, but what the heck guys!!!!!????? Absolutely DISGUSTING!! They should be ashamed of themselves for letting this go on. If you don't believe me, next time you walk by, just take a look behind the restaurant and you'll probably see sock/footpicking guy in his chair. Pani Puri, samosas, dal vada, tandoori chicken, fish fry, pakodas, egg masala curry, chicken biriyani, veg biriyani, saag paneer, daal fry, periyal (!), chicku shake, masala chai...loads of options to pick from. I have been ordering food from Copper Pot for a long time. We enjoy their good food. Recently, we ordered via Google and chose delivery. Our order of three items cost around $54, but delivery, tax, and tip brought the total to $70. However, we didn't receive the delivery yesterday and tried calling the restaurant multiple times with no answer or voicemail. When we called today, they claimed they prepared our order and waited for us to pick it up all day. But our receipt clearly states delivery to our address, which we've done before. They asked me to call back at 5 pm to speak with a manager, but when I did, they told me to call after 6:30 pm. Frustrated, I won't order from Copper Pot again. Copper Pot is by far the best Indian restaurant option in the South Bay. We have been coming here since it opened and the quality of food has always been excellent. Service has been up and down but as of late they have upped their game and our food was brought out quickly and it tasted absolutely delicious. Chilli Baby Corn - OMG little crunchy spicy flavor bombs with a hint of sweetness from the corn 10/10; veg samosa - good flavor, one of the better not from home (not it comes with the 2 chutneys) 9/10; beyond sloppy joes - surprisingly yummy! A solid 5-star Indian restaurant in Redondo Beach. I'm so happy I don't have to go all the way to Artesia for high quality Indian food. This restaurant used to be an American diner, so everything inside still has the diner style. The aloo gobi methiwala is delicious. Roti is fresh. Biryanis has a nice fragrance. From my friends and family I have heard that this place gets very busy and getting orders takes really long time. To avoid all this, I went on the least busy day "Monday". This was my first visit here. It was a big party and we ordered several dishes. Sambar Idly, Chicken Tikka, Chole Bhature in starters and in full course we got saag paneer, chettinad kofta curry, chole bhature again and garlic, butter naan. I would not order sambar idly again if I end up here. Sambar tasted like daal, missing salt instead of sambar. My group said that chicken was uncooked in Chicken Tikka. The curries tasted ok, saag turned out to be spicy and chettinad sweet. The highlight of our meal was chole bhature. Among all these, they tasted the best. If you are here I would recommend trying them out. When my group member mentioned this to our server that chicken was raw in tikka, the server got defensive. He said this is how they make it and from the color of the dish it looks cooked. We decided to drop the matter there. It's a big place with comfortable seating. Overall the ambience is nice. Very AUTHTENTIC INDIA restaurant, so if you're not use to a ton of spices, this might be hard, and the spices (on some dishes) will jump out, including clearing your sinus. It's a blend of both northern/southern India food. It seems to have more vegan variety/taste than meat, WARNING: This is definitely not AMERICANIZED India food nor for kids or those who do not eat India food regularly. I could taste the spices on my breath that evening. The lunch time buffet (11 - 3pm $20+tax=22) is the best time to try a variety of dishes but mass produce. The AYCE buffet does include unlimited drinks like hot chai tea and ICED: buttermilk salad and almond shake (nothing I've ever tasted before). Appetizer/Salads: Pastries and variety of chutneys, salad w nuts, and premade green salad mix. The puff ball pastry is an empty shell that needs to be broken at the top to add in your own ingredients (turmeric potato, tomato, cilantro) then covered over with a watery mint sauce. I enjoyed the lamb samosa, which had more onions than lamb (considering I don't like fried food that much, I ate 2). There were 2 biryani varieties that were definitely filled w spices in the rice. The naan was plain, chewy/cold, and not the greatest tasting. I tried dosa for the 1st time which is fermented rice in lentil batter that looks like a crepe but tasted like baked crispy cheese and served hot. Dip into soups or curries. If you're unsure of hotness or spice (take a small portion on your 1st round). The Lamb was tender and flavorful but too spicy that I couldn't eat more. Chicken curry was a bit dry including fried chicken drumsticks. The quarter size batter fish had no flavor like thinly sliced pollack fish. Rest of curries were vegan. Most of the waiters are stoic and don't speak much. (Might be language barrier or shy or BOTH), but if you ask nicely and smile, they are helpful. Overall, the management aren't very service oriented when talking to customers so can come across as abrasive and gets worst when servicing more customers. The restaurant is small (about a 7 eleven size), but has free parking. Tables are large so can fit multiple families of 5 or 1 large group of 20. read more

Came in initially to check out the Dine LA menu, but decided to try some of the unique dishes listed on the menu. Copper Pot occupies the former Redondo Beach Cafe, so the remnants of the bright, casual ambiance still remain. Service was a tad slow. The owner actually took our order and gave us some great recommendations. We tried the Lamb Biryani and the Spicy Chicken Curry. Both were so tasty and enough to bring home leftovers.
