Currently petitioning Yelp to a 6th star option because this place IS THAT GOOD! I am a fan of Indian food so my bar is set fairly high and I have to say this place did not disappoint one bit! Let's start with the place: Centrally located with decent parking in the back of the restaurant + it's got a lot of room inside so you don't feel cramped. On to the staff: Couldn't have asked for a friendlier group of people. Everyone was very nice and super helpful! Judie, the owner, helped us decide what to order and made us feel so welcome! Now, the most important thing = THE FOOD! Started dinner with fried cauliflower and a set of samosas. The cauliflower breading was amazing and the sauce it came with was delicious! The samosas were the perfect crispiness and had lots of meat inside (they didn't skimp on the meat so yay!) came with two additional sauces. Pro tip: the green sauce is actually cilantro and not mint (which I appreciated and LOVED). I ended up using these three sauces with so much of the meal! Next up we ordered the Lamb Biryani, the Chicken Tikka Masala (bc obviously) and one new dish for me (the Andhra chicken curry) + a garlic and chili naan. Let's go through these one at a time! Lamb Biryani: Some of the best Biryani I've had. The lamb is not overwhelming (which it can be if not made well) and the rice is so flavorful. Definitely would recommend! The Chicken Tikka Masala: This is the staple by which I judge all Indian restaurants. I literally could not stop eating this. Great texture on the sauce (not too runny) plus the flavor was amazing! Eat it on the rice or the chili naan. You won't regret it. The Andrha Chicken Curry: This was a new dish for me and i'm so glad I ordered it. It's got a bit of a kick to it so beware, but it's still so worth it. I had a runny nose the whole time and wouldn't change it for anything! It's also a bit thicker of a sauce than the tikka masala so it was nice to have some variety! The Naan: Naan is such an important part of the meal. The ones here are a good texture/fluffiness (not too bready). I was partial to the chili naan (also has a kick to it so be mindful of that) but both were good! Overall I cannot say enough good things about this place. I only wish it were closer to me so I could go more often! Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area! Yummy Indian fare, with Great Staff!! We recently had a very nice dinner at CopperPot. It was a bit of special nite, something different, exotic, and craving some yummy Indian fare. We enjoyed our meal immensely and our server (Surish) was wonderful. This nite seemed to be an extra busy one (two large parties along with most tables filled), he and the rest handled it wonderfully and efficiently. We were looking for a last minute place to have lunch and remembered that Copper Pot had a lunch buffet from noon to 3pm on weekdays - so we decided to give it a try, as we had recently been to a full serve lunch a few days before. Both experiences were terrific as they have options for everyone, regardless of dietary preferences (they also have a full vegan to-go menu which you can find on their website). I was craving Indian food, annd I was glad to find Copper Pot close to home to satisfy my needs. I ordered a mutton biryani with extra egg and headed over to pick it up. Copper Pot had opened earlier this year, and interestingly, it's in what used to be a diner. I found it kind of strange that the layout is exactly like a diner, but it serves Indian food. I felt a bit of cognitive dissonance with this, but it was interesting at the same time. My biryani cost almost $20, which I found rather steep for just one plate, but portions were massive, enough to feed two people for two meals. The biryani was spiced and very flavorful, with a good amount of heat from the default medium level of spice. There was a good amount of mutton inside, too, and the boiled egg, simple as it was, was the icing on top. Overall, a solid, delicious dish. I think the prices are a bit steep, but again, this is in an affluent part of Los Angeles, so I'm not surprised. I'd be keen on returning to Copper Pot, as I'd like to dine in and experience eating dishes in an actual copper pot. So many great vegan and gluten free options to choose from their menu! I could smell the place from across the street and was immediately drawn to the aromas. The service was great, Luis (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was attentive and friendly, giving us recommendations for the menu since I'm vegan and my aunt doesn't eat spicy food. He even took back her order when she told him it was too spicy since she has low tolerance, and he quickly brought her another dish that she could handle. That was very kind and thoughtful of him. I have dined at many Indian food restaurants in the past. On this occasion I was. the guest who immigrated from India. He and both agreed the restaurant was lacking in many respects as follows. We dined for lunch at 1:30 pm. This was a semi-business meeting and we were planning a relaxed dining experience. During our meeting the waiter approached and said they were closing until dinner time. There was no advance waring of this, certainly not when we were seated. Had we known, frankly, we would have dined elsewhere. When we paid the bill we were not thanked for dining. The good was fair, not fantastic. The waiter exuded an attitude of not appreciating our patronage. However, the food portions were tiny. I ordered the chicken saag, one of my favorite Indian entries, and was shocked as to the small portion size. I don't overeat, but this was ridiculous - especially for the price. My guest ordered vegan options but was dissatisfied and boxed them all to go. He later told me he threw the food away. This location is the site of several past restaurants. I was informed Copper Pot was open for about 18 months. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last time dining here. There are numerous other Indian restaurants in my neighborhood and I plan to go elsewhere in the future. The parking lot was decent sized but was three-fourths full despite almost no customers in the restaurant. I was surprised as the lot is designated for exclusive use of Copper Pot. read more

The coupon said it was good for purchases made today so I used it and paid for my order today for pick up tomorrow. I had no idea this was against the law of this woman as the online order system took the order without any issue. Rather than just explaining her intentions and politely requesting that in the future to place the order for the same day, she proceeded to make it seem like I was trying to steal from her as a bad person and said if you keep doing this we will stop the coupon offer which inferred that I had been malicious and would attempt to make future purchases in the same manner even after understanding the policy. This attack on my integrity offended me so I expressed how she made me feel and she started to yell at me and said that I called her a racist and then said she was canceling my order and that I was banned from ever coming back. I probably eat at Copper Pot once every month and a half and have always felt good about supporting a local and woman owned business but this was abusive. We came here as immigrants and my parents ran a small business and they would have gone out of business if they treated customers ( and especially a loyal one who had written a supportive raving review to help drive more business) like this woman did. read more

We have been going to this restaurant for quite some time but unfortunately, the service quality has gone down over the last few months. They are very slow in service which tells me that they need to hire more help. The staff was nice and courteous but it seemed like they just cannot bring the food out in a timely manner. I ordered my food to go. This was my first time trying this place, I've been craving Indian and I was excited because it's close to my house. Unfortunately my experience wasn't great. I ordered the lunch special which included saag paneer, basmati rice, a piece of naan, a house salad and a house dessert + 2 onion samosas (for an extra fee of $3) I received the veg byrani rice instead of the plain basmati I ordered (I have a 10 month old who I was going to share with) which was fine tasting, but there was a particular spice I wasn't a fan of (hence the reason I ordered the regular basmati rice) This was a huge portion- almost feel like the rice and saag sections should be switched. I only received 1 onion samosa which tasted really good, but I wish I got the 2 that I paid for. The saag was okay. I saw another comment that said a lot of spice and no flavor which I feel is an accurate description for what I got. It was more like a spinach purée than the typical saag where you can see/ feel the pieces of spinach. The salad was really flavorful and I enjoyed it, the big raw chunks of raw red onion was a bit overwhelming, but can be picked out easily. Naan was good. Dessert looks like mashed banana with a cashew or two sprinkled on top. Tasty, but nothing special. My total was $32 + tip which is incredibly expensive for what I received. My wife and I have ordered carryout from Copper pot on the past and have been quite pleased with the quality. So I was super excited about their new lunch buffet. I consider myself a bit of an aficionado with respect to Indian lunch buffets, as I eaten at dozens in Southern California. I visited on a weekday at 1 PM and I was the only patron the entire time. That should tell you something. At first glance, the buffet looked nice. But when I actually tasted the food, I discovered it was very bad. They are clearly trying to optimize expenses. Everything is literally watered down, and the chicken was practically inedible. I have to say it was the worst Indian buffet I've ever been to. To make matters worse, the service was terrible. practically nonexistent. Even upon entering and paying the check there was zero interaction. I don't believe they said a word. Quite stunning. These people should not be in the service industry! Afterwards, I decided to take a walk, since they are just a couple blocks from the beach. We decided for this place because the pictures of the food looked real good and unique. It was a nice surprise to know they had this super delicious Dosa Weekend Buffet, for $20+tax and tip per person- of course we went for this.
