I've ordered it alongside an everything bagel and been extremely satisfied. They've got killer sandwiches and all of the ingredients are super fresh and yummy. It's not the prettiest of restaurants inside but it's clean and well-made stuff. The prices are extremely reasonable and for the area, you can't beat it. It does get packed so try to get here earlier just to take advantage. It is a popular spot on both weekends and weekdays so arrive accordingly. Ordered 8 dozen bagel I ordered 8 dozen bagels the other day. They assured me that what they gave me was enough cream cheese. The first 20 people that went thu the line at the buffet ate it all. Alas, after numerous visits to this Grove breakfast spot, I can now share what I believe of Coral Bagels to be true: A beloved breakfast nook where plenty of the older crowd join in every morning and they have finally opted to doing a dinner service recently, which begins at 4 p.m. Let's talk menu pricing first: overall, all items are of modest pricing. For example, 2 eggs meal, which brings two sides of a form of bread and fruit/oatmeal, home fries, and the like comes out to $5.99. I believe if you add a meat it jumps up to $6.99. Prices have been raised in the past year because these meal options were steals before at $4.99 & $5.99 before, respectively. Signature items, options such as Shrimp & Grits and Huevos Rancheros, can range from $8.99 to $11. There is definitely something for everyone. The bagels are always great, no matter which flavor you decide on. The one thing that is always a maybe hit or miss is the taste of their home fries. I think it honestly depends on which cook is doing the rounds that day. Sometimes, they are bland, looking like they're going to be great only to leave much to be desired. Other times, they have the right amount of seasoning but nothing that would wow you. Service: The server of the year award, and then some, goes to Robin. This lovely lady is so sweet and she knows how to do right by her guests. She's always there when you need a coffee refill and you can see her move with the right amount of urgency, despite maybe having been double sat at the same time. I always try to hold out for one of her tables. Otherwise, service can be lacking. For the most part, the ladies on the floor do a great job but for some reason, the men lack in this area. There is one who used to be a busser, and as it appears he has been promoted to serving, but he still is finding his way. The other miss here is management not helping their crew. Just a few weeks ago, I saw a table, 2 people by the door, trying to pay. I believe the woman at the table asked the manager/owner (an older woman) to help pay for her check but I saw the owner tell her that she had to give it to the server. Mind you, there was a wait at the door. I was a bit floored that she wouldn't 1)help the guest close out the check 2)help the server who was tied up and 3) move out traffic to eliminate the wait. Even if it is more of a mom/pop style of restaurant, customer service and overall teamwork are very important and it sets the wrong image, especially here in the Grove. I hope they invest more in this area as this is seen to be a local treasure by some. CB is a definite Grove staple because there aren't breakfast spots like this in this area. Generally this is a go to breakfast spot. It still is. Still, improvements can be made. I dropped by in the way to work this morning to order a bagel and cream cheese only to find it to be cash only if you spend less than 8 dollars. I had no cash, so no bagel for me. I'd gladly pay a credit card upcharge if their fees are killing them but there was no option. Buy more or pay cash. It's 2018. Come on now. I can't say the service was friendly either. Einstein's it is. Ugh. If mom and pops want to survive they need to do better. Adapt, and cater to your customers. I'll try again, but it may be awhile. read more

I've been meaning to check out this place for a few moths now. I'm so glad I did! I've dined here twice already and each time the food has been really really good. First off, the restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza just off of US1. There is parking in the front, but in case it's full, you can always do the paid parking in the public lot nearby. As soon as we walked in, both times we were seated within 5 minutes. We went around 11am the first time and 1pm the second time. It seems like this restaurant is always full no matter the time of day. The atmosphere is casual and very laid back. I'm a breakfast person -- like serious -- I can eat breakfast all day everyday and still be extremely satisfied. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and the two eggs with meat. Each of the breakfast meals come a side and a choice of bread. The choice of bread includes toast, english muffin, bagel, croissant (at no extra cost), however if you get the bagel, it's going to be $1 extra for the cream cheese. I really like how low cost the meals are, but without skimping on quantity or quality! Also, the home fries are think and chunky pieces of potato but if you ask for extra crispy they put them in the deep fryer for you. yum! My go to bagel shop in the grove. No frills in and out and the portions are not only good but huge. I never walk away from a meal there hungry. They have limited parking but I always find a spot and they also have seating inside. The prices are very reasonable. I got shrimp and grits delish!! For like $12. Coral Bagels has been a staple for decades. I've been many times and during my most recent we were were seated quickly for a Sunday morning. I ordered the challah French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was cooked perfectly, I prefer it on the crispy side. Our server was very attentive and made great suggestions. I ended up taking the everything bagel, Asiago, and cinnamon raisin bagel to go. The everything bagel is definitely my favorite. I was given a few gift cards for this place so I went in to order some bagels. The guy at the check out counter looked at the cards and said they were not going to work. He was extremely rude about it. He then told me to order the bagels and come back to the counter, only to deny the gift cards again. We sat down at 1.20PM and did not get our 2 sandwiches & fries until 1:55PM, and that was after telling them multiple times we were short on time. Ended up having to take everything to go. We have chose this restaurant for breakfast many times and I won't hesitate to say for a really good, very fulfilling breakfast you won't go wrong with Coral Bagels. The bagels itself are super good and come in all flavors, being the Asiago, the Poppy and the ET, some of my family's favorites, they always come with an included side of delicious cream cheese or a nova spread that you can separately buy but is oh so worthy. The rest of the menu doesn't disappoint, it actually has a lot to be happy about coming here for breakfast; the omelettes are delicious and perfectly cooked, the egg breakfast combinations with or without meat are still very affordable and include your choice of many types of bread (think obviously all previously mentioned flavors of bagels as just one choice of bread types) but also a lot of breakfast sides like a fruit medley, tomatoes or grits to choose from, you still get free refills on the coffee and the tea. The sandwiches are also great, my favorite thing on the Menu is the Nova Sandwich for $10.99. My only complaint is when my family of three orders two sandwiches and one omelette and the omelette takes too long because the kitchen is very busy. This last time, for example, we almost finished eating before my husband got his omelette, he still had his bagel brought early and was snacking on that but the server should have waited to bring everything together! Stopped into Coral Bagels early on Sunday afternoon for a quick breakfast. Ordered the Two Eggs Breakfast Special, which had everything one could need. Quality Walking into Coral Bagels I must admit I immediately lowered my expectations. Inside it looks a lot like a summer camp cafeteria, and I don't particularly have fond memories of camp food. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the food that I ordered. I ordered the Two Eggs Breakfast Special, which came with scrambled eggs, home fries, an everything bagel, and I splurged for the chive cream cheese. Don't get me wrong for a second, this is not a bagel shop that would compete with NYC, but for Miami it was a pretty solid option. They automatically toasted the bagel, which is not really something I encourage, but it still came out pretty fresh. The eggs did not look great, but with some pepper sprinkled on they were great. Meanwhile the home fries were extremely tasty. Quantity The Two Eggs Breakfast Special is enormous as it comes with a full plate of food along with a bagel. You have many different selections for sides and bread, plus you also get a cup of coffee. Everything you could possibly need in a breakfast. Value Coral Bagels serves up an unbelievably cheap breakfast. My massive meal came to less than $7, which is pretty crazy considering how much food was included. Ambiance Coral Bagels is located in Coconut Grove, right off Route 1. It is in a small strip mall that you may not immediately notice. As I mentioned the inside reminds me a lot like a summer camp cafeteria. It is a giant singular room with a high ceiling, with the kitchen and counters wrapping around in an L-shape. The walls have a very strange assortment of framed pictures on them, which may have some relation to the spot, but I could not even begin to guess. It is very casual and there are a ton of tables along with a few stools at the bar. They had a few televisions hanging high on the wall, but only one was on. The radio was on in the background as well, and as often the case it was mostly advertisements. I do have to mention that this place is not very clean. It may be a matter of everything from the mugs to the glasses to the plates are very old, but nothing seemed particularly clean. The practices of the staff also appeared less than sanitary. Nothing was so bad to prevent me returning, but I would think they should be motivated to do a better job. Crowd For a late Sunday breakfast it was absolutely packed. Every single table was taken and I had to wait about five minutes for a seat. They were moving people in and out quickly so I wouldn't be too concerned about a wait. It is an older crowd and definitely a lot of regulars. It felt like people who have been coming every weekend for years and were extremely close with the staff. Service My waiter was extremely fast and was happy to grab me anything I needed with my meal. However, I do have some concerns about how sanitary everything was. All the condiments seemed to need to be refilled, the tables and dishes seemed a bit old and dirty, and the way the staff was handling food and then money made me nervous. Parking There is a lot directly in front of the little strip mall, but the parking signs are a bit confusing. Just make sure you take a look to see if you are in the appropriate spot and also to make sure you are not in a pay for park spot. Extra Coral Bagels impressed me with their food and the price, but disappointed me in terms of cleanliness. I understand the appeal of the retro breakfast spot, however updates are without question needed. I would be nervous to recommend it because I found it a bit dirty and would worry what others with higher standards would think. Odd, I've had bagels from here countless times, however, I had never actually been inside. This place looks well-worn as if it's been around forever; it has that certain "Old Florida" feel, the breakfast-shoppe answer to Scotty's Landing or something. Unless you live or work in the Grove, you're probably not aware of this place. I decided to stop in for breakfast before work. Even though the sun hadn't completely risen yet, I wasn't the only one availing myself of a low-priced omelet. Yes, the prices are low, low to a point that you'd never expect in Miami these days, least of all Coconut Grove. I liked that as soon as a server saw me sit down, he came over, placed a mug on the table, and filled it with coffee, no questions asked. Presumptuous, perhaps, but at sunup on a workday, a highly accurate presumption. Now, the OJ I ordered was getting a little funky, it tasted as if it was starting to undergo fermentation. I'm used to that kind of thing, so I just drank it. It's difficult to comment too much on an omelet and grits, but both were pretty much what any reasonable person would expect. Now, the bagels - if you're a nu-skool hipster kiddie and were weaned on cake-y, doughy bagels such as those you find at Einstein Bros and Panera, it might come as some shock to you that Coral bagels are very crisp on the outside and dry and bready on the inside. I like this kind of more-authentic bagel better than those you get from the big chains. I visited Coral Bagels for the last time this morning. The last two times I visited this little deli, I waited about 45 mins each time on simple breakfast orders. Today, I walked out after the waitress gave us an attitude when I asked where our food was. She forgot to enter the food order, blamed it on the kitchen, and was very confrontational about it. Horrible customer service, dirty surroundings, spectacularly mediocre food. I Hope you have a better experience than me! This place should get its act together. read more

I always want to love places I know have been around for a long time. Places like Coral Bagels are cornerstones of the community, regulars arrived and left the whole time we were there. They said, see ya tomorrow and I'll have the usual and I love that. But I can't love Coral Bagels for just that. For breakfast, which is what I went for, it kinda sucked. My coffee (cafe con leche) was practically a cup of warm milk. The veggie spread for the bagel was practically inedible and tasted of frozen veggies mixed with cream cheese and the service was so slow. I often come here early on Saturday mornings after a run through the Grove. It never fails, this place is always PACKED with people, be it athletes or early birds trying to catch the worm. The coffee is fantastic and a definite pick-me-upper, and I can say that I have never tried a bad breakfast dish here. Eggs are always cooked perfectly and any way you like them and the pancakes here are DElicious! The bacon is always crisp here too, not soggy and leathery as in some other places. They also have some bottles of local, fresh squeezed OJ which is super good and very refreshing. This place definitely isn't a looker, but don't let that deter you! Their food is pretty good. I have ordered their house potatoes and they were tasty but a little too salty. I'm a vegan so I asked them to make them without bacon, but I'm not sure if they just took the bacon out or they actually made it without. The parking is kind of annoying, but they have a parking lot on the side that you have to pay for. They have also been slow to serve every time I go. It would also be nice if they had more vegan options. I have tried other bagel places where they have delicious vegan cream cheese and they tell me it's really easy to make.
