I love a hole-in-the-wall place. The kind of place that locals go to, that is not pretentious, where you get good service and good food for a reasonable price. Where parking is not a challenge and where you can just relax. Coral Bagels is all of that. HOWEVER, the problem with this place is that it is just so tired and old-looking - and so CLEARLY not cleaned or kept up, that I just don't enjoy being there. I am not a person who wants a 5-star dining experience to have some eggs and a bagel. But I DO want a clean well-kept kitchen, dining room and service area. I DO NOT want to eat at a place where the kitchen is obviously a mess. So as much as I enjoy supporting local "mom and pop" places like this I really can't give much credit to Coral Bagels because the place just feels like the owners have given up on trying to be clean/modern because they just rely on their old customers to keep coming back no matter what. I hope that the manager/owners of this gem will decide to close the place for about a week to spruce the place up, clean it up and make it a more welcoming atmosphere for guests and the employees. Disrespectful employee and owner! I stopped in this morning to give it a try, tables we opening up to dine in, there was no line, but rather than take my order and earn my business, they made up a story about needing an hour to make two breakfast sandwiches that are on the menu. The waitress did not enough know what the sandwiches were before she told me an hour for egg, ham and cheese on a Kaiser roll! I ended up going to McDonald's! One of my favorite go to breakfast places. I've eaten here so many times I've lost count. The prices are amazing for the amount of food you get. I've never tried something that I haven't liked, but my go to is always an omelette with a side of their famous house potatoes. Serious, those potatoes are the best! I dont know what they use to season them, but I need it! They are open very early and close around 3/4pm so it's a great spot for breakfast and lunch. They do offer breakfast through out the day so it's good for the people who like breakfast for lunch. It's usually packed for lunch during the week and for breakfast on the weekends so don't be surprised if you hVe to wait for a table. I went there today b/c a former co-worker told me that this place has great food. I get there and first off I could not find a place to order to go or a menu. I find the register and I order a Southwest Black bean veggie burger topped with pepper jack cheese. I ask for a side salad to substitute the fries because I did not want to add any extra fat or calories to my meal. I was met with an attitude but the black haired cashier. She told me I could not so that. I asked her what other sides came with the meal, she told me potato chip, coleslaw, and potato salad. I asked for a side of fruit she said no. I then asked if I could pay a few more dollars for a side salad. She said no again. I said I will take the fries then. I sat down got right back up and I asked again... I told her I don't feel good about paying for something I don't want. I also let her know that I did not eat mayonnaise and I did not want any form of fried potatoes. I asked if they could just put some lettuce on the side. NO, She told me I can buy a salad if I wanted salad. I did not want a whole salad on top of a burger and fries. I then sit at the counter to wait for my food and then she comes to me and asks me to move to sit in a more distant seats away from the counter. (Rude) I can forgive a mix up or slowness but i do not appreciate being treated with disrespect. Then when I finally get my food the fries are bland, the veggie burger I ordered was not the right one. It was not black bean nor was there cheese on it. It was one of those gross packaged veggie burgers that had been reheated. I went back, told her how I was very upset about the side salad, and they offered a new burger (they were out of the black bean and neglected to tell me). The cashier took to responsibility for messing up or being rude to me. I was so upset I just asked for my money back. Horrible service, dated décor (and not even in a cool way), and bland food. The only redeeming thing about this place is that one of the cooks apologized and asked me what happened he really seemed to care and he also told me that I could have gotten a salad and he is not sure why this woman refused to give me one. I would give this place 5 stars but one mediocre lunch experience pushed back to 4. Honestly, I ADORE CORAL BAGEL. Place is usually jammed packed. Service is quick, food is perfect diner fare and if I could have it my way my ashes would be spread in the kitchen the day I die. Anyway, this place is for breakfast, take a stab at the lunch but I find their breakfast is where eternal love lies. The menu is overwhelming but trust your gut, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Out of the plethora of times I have eaten here only one lunch sandwich was blah, not even bad just meh. And yes, this place has bagels- just stare at the salt bagel while you wait to be seated, it's intimidating. They've been out of pumpernickel bagels lately which made a tear fall down my cheek the two times I was denied one but hell, nothing's perfect. Also, I mentioned this place is usually very busy so get ready to wait during what I call their breakfast rush hour- better not complain because I might have to hurt you. The bonus was seeing the Heat's first ever head coach eating breakfast on a Tuesday morning during my last visit this past week. I walked in and two female workers were chatting on ether side of the bar... they saw me walk in and said nothing... I walked over to where they were and asked to see a menu (I could hardly get a word in to ask because they kept ignoring me when i was trying to talk to them), they looked annoyed that I disrupted their conversation and threw a menu at me and turned and continued their conversation. I was shocked and then did see anything that appealed to me at that moment. I did ask for a togo menu and they gave me a dirty look and said I dont know if we have any... then I asked if she could take a look and she searched and found it right away....Some people who work in restaurants should re-evaluate if that is the job for them. However, with the recent drop in food quality, service and taste, maybe it's best they do anything to keep diners from returning to this failed and now former "local institution" breakfast spot. Solid little greasy spoon bagel shop/diner. It has a total dumpy appearance but don't let that fool you. They have an excellent breakfast menu and they make good sandwiches. They also have good coffee too. read more

First time here and wasn't given any direction as to how to be seated. A server gave us attitude when asked her where we could sit. The wait staff in general was unsanitary and unprofessional. The bus boy was walking around with big headphones listening to music, the cook was on his cell phone while cooking and the cashier was sitting behind the counter eating. Be Patient when calling. They rarely ever pick up the phone ...especially during lunch time. You can hang up and call back 100 times.. this woman will never pick up to ask you to hold. Once she answers... she will place you on hold for 10 minutes, then hang up on you. Also, don't ever buy any coupons online b/c they will not redeem it until they have a list to compare it to.. which make take up to a week. This woman who gets the phones... has to be the worst employee. I would fire her in a heartbeat. Its clearly not her business or money that she is losing. This is the perfect place for the morning after a long night of drinking, smoking, or_____. It has a feel of small cafe you'd stop by on a road trip through the South except no hicks and more Spanish speakers. The setup is quite modest but you come here for the food and the friendly staff. The Eggs Benedict is amazing and freaking cheap too $8! There is the crab cake version of it for $11, which is not quite worth it. The staff is always attentive and warm. They even sang Happy Birthday to a man seated to the table next to us on a Sunday morning. The whole restaurant and we joined in. Stop by for great cheap food and welcoming atmosphere. read more

I'm sad to report that since my last review of Coral Bagels, it has fallen. HARD. The owner is NEVER there, and there is no manager. In fact when you ask for a manager, they point to Robin, who is the ONLY decent waitress in the entire restaurant. She actually CARES, but unfortunately, she is the ONLY one who cares about this place and the customers. My fiancee and I used to come here weekly if not twice a week. We stopped coming after a terrible 2 HOUR LONG wait for our food back in December, with an incredibly rude and bored waitress. So we gave it one more shot yesterday (March 15, 2015) and to our dismay, the food was cold and of cheap quality even the bagels were sub-par, poor Robin was running around going crazy with the terrible staff, and we finally decided that we are DONE giving chances to this place. They even charge nearly $2 for two tablespoons of cream cheese! AT A BAGEL JOINT! The clear problem here is the owner. The owner of this place works as a CPA for the Miami Herald, so clearly they do not care and are not invested in the restaurant business. By nickel and diming their clients, and cheapening the quality of the food, and never being there, they're running this place into the ground. Which is really really sad to witness. The owners are not cut out to run this place. They should sell it to someone who actually cares about the business and the food. read more

This is a tried and true local haven that's a perfect stop for breakfast or brunch. They're not fancy at Coral Bagels (though you can find eggs benedict and Greek omlets on the menu), but their delicious food and AMAZING prices are well worth the occasional 5-10 minute wait. I've become spoiled living within walking distance, and I'm now here twice a week! Their made-in-house bagels are great, the coffee is fresh, and the service is friendly. read more

This is my favorite Miami breakfast. Cheap, casual, and everything I want to eat. I almost invariably order the two egg breakfast--eggs over medium with potatoes, bacon, sesame bagel, and a few cups of coffee. Always cooked exactly how I want it. You don't come here for fancy food, but it's exactly what hits the spot on a weekend morning, and the service is appropriately good. Friendly and energetic enough, and they regularly check your coffee. Dirt cheap. All I need. I'll be coming here forever. Note: some free parking in the lot outside, but otherwise there are plenty of meters. Never an issue with parking. Update: I read a review that lessened the number of stars because of the coffee, service, and price of cream cheese. Just wanted to point out that this place is crazy cheap, and it's that way because they don't include things like cream cheese freely--and I usually opt out. If you do pay the extra buck (big deal), it's a huge amount. If two people at your table want cream cheese, one order is more than enough for a generous spread. Also, the service is what it is because this place gets crowded. Another product of the place being good. Waitresses here are apologetic about the crowds, and are much more chatty and friendly when its not rush hour on a weekend. The coffee is whatever--nothing great, but you can order other caffeinated drinks if you want to. I'm a coffee snob who thinks starbucks coffee is disgusting, but like that Coral Bagels is fine for what it is, the price is included in the meal I order, and the waitress refills your cup before you even notice you're getting low. read more

Don't bother with this place. I gave it two tries, and was disappointed both times. Both times I ordered the same thing, a simple bacon, egg and cheese breakfast bagel on a plain bagel. I ordered them to go, and both times it took 45 minutes! Really, 45 minutes for a simple breakfast bagel, and not to mention they were not busy at all. Two people who came in after me and ordered, with large orders I might mention, both received their food before me. It was not until I pointed this out TWICE to the cashier, that they finally put my order on the skillet. Needless to say they have absolutely no system for processing orders. Now, I can usually deal with slow service if the food is worth it, but unfortunately that is not the case here. The bagels are nothing special, probably bought at the local grocery chain. They are majorly skimpy on the bacon, essentially using just one slice for the whole bagel. Lastly, they don't even bother to melt the cheese fully. And the bagels are not exactly cheap. There are just too many other good breakfast places in the area to bother. Two thumbs down. read more

And then when it came time to pay the manager and waitress gave us an impossible time to split the check saying they couldn't do it. I come here every Saturday after my morning run, and it's the best place to refuel. Finally got aroun to having a full breakfast here and although not the cutest of breakfast spots, the food is delightful!! you walk in to this spot and you feel like you're in a deli in NY. The CB sandwich consisted of a bagel, eggs, sausage and cheese. It tasted like the perfect thing to absorb the alcohol in our bellies. one of miami's more local-oriented spots. the place has great food for an even better price. my only concern is the constant lack of competent employees. I have been visiting for years regardless of what I'm about to say but it's getting worse by the month. I've had my last 3 orders botched by the staff. the 3rd one in a row was the final straw. I even asked them to double check my order because of the previous two and they STILL gave me the wrong order. one of three times it was a different sandwhich altogether. So between the lackadaisical tone they always have plus the constant mess ups, I had to let the community know. The only reason I give 3 stars is because the food and price is great, but the staff needs to step it up.
