The "hot" "pastrami" is neither. The rye bread was borderline cold and borderline stale. The "pastrami" was tepid, not even warm. And the "pastrami" seemed like the quality that you get at the deli counter at Shoppers Food Warehouse grocery store. It certainly didn't seem like "real" pastrami to me. All in all, a lousy sandwich. The onion rings were nice and hot and crispy. My buddy got the grilled Rueben which, admittedly, was pretty good. Hot, nice grilled bread, melted cheese, and reasonable - if nothing special - corned beef. The cole slaw was too creamy/liquidy. Whatever. Just don't get the "hot" "pastrami" sandwich. I'm not a big fan of writing reviews because I'm lazy. I'm lazy because I love to eat good food. So the fact I'm writing this should tell you this food was amazing. Amazing is actually an understatement, these sandwiches were the best I've had in the DMV area. Coming from California I'm used to hole in the wall places and much like in California hole in the wall places this did not disappoint. Highly recommend I got Johnny O with a side of dipping sauce and wife got Italian. We both shared mine since the sandwich was so big. We also got a side of Mac and cheese which I don't recommend, very bland and not creamy. They also have a celery soda which is amazing especially when you mix it with vodka or like I did, tequila. Wish I could rate this higher than 5 star but that's all yelp allows. But highly recommend this place AMAZING service and AMAZING food. read more

I've been looking for a Katz NY style Ruben in DMV. I.e. high meat to bread to ratio. No place ever came close 'round these parts. But these folks get it. The place is the real deal. I'd recommend the Reuben, but I also sometimes get corned beef or brisket by the pound to go. I haven't had comparable corned beef in the region. Disgusting! No other way to put it. Paid $20 for a prime rib and cheese sandwich and a side of potato salad. Took one bite of the potato salad and tossed it as it tasted sour as if it was spoiled. Also the sandwich (which looked delicious from previous Yelp pictures) was pretty bland and gross itself. The prime rib was as if it had been in a Crock-Pot on high for the last 10 years. Straight up mush and tasted old. Arugula lettuce on the sandwich practically turned into the consistency of a creamed spinach because the sandwich was so hot. Not pleasant at all. Was made extremely sick and I only got through half of the 1st half of my sandwich. Still sick almost 24 hours later. As for the establishment...it's in a rundown gas station that straight up reeked of stale cigarettes and dirty urinals. I wish I would not have called in the order prior to arriving as I would have just walked right out it was so disgusting. Not worth the price or sickness. read more

At first sight, I was a little skeptical of eating lunch in part of a gas station. Once I walked in the door I was pleasantly surprised from the delicious smells circulating through the air. We ordered the Reuben and the Shrimp Roll. The shrimp roll had large chunks of shrimp and plenty of lettuce,tomato, and a creamy mayonnaise herb sauce. The roll was fresh and crispy. The Reuben had enough corned beef for two sandwiches. It was tender and juicy. The bread was toasted to perfection. The cheese and sour kraut were plentiful. It was delicious. I had to eat it with a fork and knife because there was so much corned beef. I loved the pickle that accompanied the sandwich. The pickle was tasty with the perfect amount of flavor and crunch. I want to go back for the chicken soup and the knish. People were lined up waiting for their food. So I was driving by the Copenhaver Swim Club a few weeks ago when i noticed a food truck parked in the lot. This is kinda rare for Potomac as various codes and regulations keep things to brick and mortar... A few weeks pass... and one day when heading back from work on Falls Road I see the truck again and said what-the-hey... lets give it a shot. First, let me say this (from the perspective of a former New Yorker): this is probably as good as corned beef gets around me... period. The only other serious contender is Brooklyn Deli (split-off from Chuckie's Celebrity Deli, which unfortunately was run into the ground by another owner before shutting down). I ordered my standard-issue sandwich... Corned beef, rye bread, dressed up with cole-slaw and Russian dressing. While there I also got a Knish. The sandwich bread was soft & fresh. The coleslaw was fresh and well prepared... and the corned beef... WOW. Lean... tasty... light... and FRESH. My test for a good corned beef is how much effort it takes to bite into the sandwich. If it takes anything more than a light effort, or if the entire lump of meat pulls out as you're trying to get a bite off then you should probably be looking for the trash can. The sandwich I got took probably as much/maybe a little more effort to chew as Brie cheese.... it was that tender! The sandwich was nicely prepared, and nicely cut. It came with a pickle which I would rate as a 1/4 basic deli pickle. I would have loved a bigger pickle selection like Altmans, but hey... you can't have everything. The Knish was a little different than what I was used to on Long Island... but it was VERY good... with a decent portion of corned beef mixed into it. While the guy was prepping the sandwiches, I was hammering them with questions (i.e., do you have your own steam cabinet, etc). While this was going on I was checking out the truck (and the cleanliness of it). The truck looked new'ish, it appeared very clean, and since it was manned by two people so there was no touching-money-then-touching-food mishaps. Ohh... and they confirmed they have their own steam cabinet, and make their own brown mustard. Summary: Brooklyn Deli will probably be alright (though they may want to try the corned beef from these guys and try to figure out where these guys source their beef). If I were Altman's, Ize's or others... I'd be worried... especially if these folks stick around. Oohhh... One CON (if there is one): When went up to these folks, it was 5:20. The guy said because of Montgomery county code they couldn't serve me until 5:30... so if you get there early, prepare to wait until 5:30. In my case, the dude grabbed a plastic cup, filled it with corned beef, and handed it over to me saying "here... try a free sample while you wait" LOL... I thought that was a very cool gesture. read more

The very best Reuben sandwiches around! Excellent quality corned beef, swiss cheese, dressing and kraut on toasted rye with a pickle spear on the side. Some say pricey, but for the size of the sandwich, it's reasonable. Half for lunch, the other half for dinner. Yum. We have eaten here many times and have always been very pleased with the sandwiches which are made to order. I would have given 5 stars, but was caught by surprise just before check-out. I was presented with a screen and instructed to select a box. After focusing in on the screen, I saw it was to select an amount to tip. I would have tipped anyway, but resented being pressured into it, especially with the suggested amounts. Hmmm. Add to this, a short while later, one of the employees/manager? commented on how pleased he was with the tips which came in the day before. Well, I guess so when customers are pressured into tipping. I was so happy to see this truck parked in my neighborhood after a huge stormed knocked out power in our area. All of the businesses were out of commission for a few days and I couldn't cook anything so it was a welcomed site. I ordered a combo meal which comes with a side and a drink. The girl asked me which sandwich I wanted, I told her and we got that straight so she asked for my money. Ok....can I pick a side? oh yeah, what do you want? The potato salad. What about the drink you ask? I was wondering that too so I asked her what the drink options are? A can of soda. Great, I'll take a cream soda. Besides the lack of service and a lot of awkwardness from a girl who's been working there since December, I rush home starving and excited to dig in, the combo looked pretty good. The pastrami was good, nothing special but good. I take a huge bite of the potato salad and that sour, turned mayonnaise salad taste fills my entire mouth. It wasn't even questionable, that stuff was rotten! I couldn't believe it. I've had some maybe it is, maybe it isn't salads before but this was baaaad. This just means that they're not keeping their food at safe temperatures, they're not tasting their food which they should be every day, and they're certainly not making it fresh every day. How clean do you think they keep that truck if they don't even keep up with the condition and freshness of their food. They only have 3 or 4 sides and the fact that they don't know one of them is bacteria infested is unacceptable. I ordered on grubhub here and they didn't have a driver, tried the next day a completely different time and then again also no driver (don't offer delivery if you actually don't offer delivery). The owner/manager here is criminally cheap, mistreats his employees and wildly overprices his entire menu, I ordered a sandwich here, pretty small sandwich, they don't even offer whole wheat so I settled for rye, it was a sandwich I could've made at home very easily and it cost me nearly 14 dollars. Had a lengthy conversation with an employee there, and she informed me that he mistreats his employees, forces them to come in on their day off and perform deliveries for him, he also apparently has employees and family and friends write reviews for him on yelp and I looked it up and sure enough these are all friends affiliated with his business on facebook. He apparently also says racist things to them. I am appalled that his business is allowed to exist. read more

There's lots of elaborate sandwiches but I suggest just getting the corn beef on rye with nothing else the corn beef it doesn't need any of the horse radish sauerkraut or any of the sauces they offer. Roaches! I was referred to this restaurant by a couple I met (Mike and Claudine?). It's in a gas station; which is filthy and greasy. The meat on my Reuben was fatty and soaked through the bread; which fell apart as I was eating it. I couldn't finish it, though. At the bottom of my plate where roach legs. A closer inspection of the floor and creases between things revealed more evidence of roaches than I am comfortable with. I complained to the counter, but was told that what I saw on my plate was "spices" and that they had just cleaned the dining area. I am never ever going to this place again and I advise anyone else to do the same. read more

I'm a born and bred NYer so I pride myself on knowing what good deli food should be. This surprisingly little hole-in-the wall which shares a roof with an Exxon station convenience store makes some of the best deli I've ever had! Corned beef and brisket sandwiches were huge and excellent - plan to share or save 1/2 for the next day. Meat knish wasn't traditional, but delicious in its own right. This food truck is amazing, I'm a Foodie and the Rueben Sandwich was totally amazing.... I'd also bought the potatoe salad and it was off the hook, that Italian Boy has total Soul Food when I tasted his potatoe salad, the potatoes were cooked, not hard as rocks like a lot of restaurants and grocery deli's. I thought the price was a little to much, but this was a true treat and worth every penny. I don't do this everyday, but when I really want to treat myself to something really good, this guy is the place to stop by and grab a really good sandwhich. I tell folks to stop by this Corned Beef King Truck in Olney, Maryland and be prepared for a true treat. Toss up between a 3 and a 4. I've only been here once and I ordered the Oh Johnny, which is essentially a french dip. The perks is it came with a ton of meat. The brisket was okay, but I would have liked it to be sliced rather than cubed. The cubes tended to fall off the bun. Also wouldn't have minded if the onions were cooked down a little more. It was probably a decent price for the amount of meat on the sandwich, but I would have rather gotten a little less and not paid $11 and change. I really liked the horseradish mayo that they use though. Definitely worth checking out. I'll probably go back to try something else. read more

My wife took me here for as a surprise and this place is amazing. I had the Manhattan and was delicious! The pastrami was tender and juicy, coleslaw was fresh, and the rye bread was perfect.
