Attention foodies! If Diners, Dives and Drive-ins is your idea of time well spent then this is the place for you. I used to eat regularly at Katz's Deli in NYC, and I have to say that they are as true to their food as that temple of corned beef. The pastrami is thick-slice and fatty and melts in your mouth like a Krispy Kreme right off the line. The corned beef was sliced razor-thin and perfect. The bread, slaw and sauerkraut were up to the same high standards. As for sides, the knish is filled with the same corned beef and delicious. They also offer Reuben egg rolls that are really with a try. They are a true egg roll that has been taken in a different direction and delicious. They also cook steak fries to order which are also very good, but don't fill up on these at the sacrifice of some of the truly exceptional menu items. If you want a sandwich the size of those found in NYC, order the extra meat for $2.00. It is a bargain. For a treat to enjoy later, they offer a couple of different cookies that are very good. Corned Beef King is located inside of a gas station. You order your food then pay for it at the same cashier you buy gas from. The place is clean, there are a couple of tables to sit at and I thought the staff were very nice. This is an absolute must for foodies near and far. read more

I've never had anything here that I didn't almost jump for joy over. It is all delicious. They really know their stuff!! The Angry sauce is so good, I'd put it on anything. Heck I'd drink it by the glass, and frost a cake with it!! (Maybe a corned beef cake, but you get my jist) The onion rings are deelish, the Angry Turkey Rachel is my favorite, and they constantly have the best specials on the board!! Portions are so big, it can easily be split between two people (but who'd want to - it's all MINE!!) or saved for a second meal later in the day. Definitely check this place out. Placed an order of 4 sandwiches to go...one of the sandwiches was incorrect. Didn't realize until arriving home. Pretty disappointed because I was insanely excited for the sandwich I had ordered & had before at the food truck during Olney Days. Friend ordered her sandwich without horseradish & asked for thousand island on the side. They gave her horseradish on the side instead. I had the corned beef on rye with Swiss cheese and deli mustard. The corned beef is superb! It was a warmed, mouth watering melt in your mouth delight. The portions are killer - seriously! I've only been a couple of times, more to come, and i am a convert. The Corned Beef King is indeed the King of local deli style monster sandwiches. Both times i went to the Exxon station in Olney with my wife. I have had the Reuben and Milly Ann (basically a reuben with slaw). Both OUTSTANDING. My wife got an Oh Johny, which has huge thick, but tender, chunks of prime rib. Equally tasty. The volume of meat on these things is insane. You could have half a sandwich for one meal. Which my wife does, but i can't help myself and EAT IT ALL ! But it isn't just the heft but the meat, the bread, the pickle and the sauces are all high quality. The staff are always attentive, very pleasant and extremely professional. I even met The King hisself one day. An equally nice fellow and appreciative of our patronage. I also recommend the knish as a side. It's a great snack by itself for less than $4.00. If there is any downside, it's in how expensive it can get. Two combo meals (sandwich, side, drink) will hit $30. Even without the combos, the cheaper sammies will set you back $20 for two people. But i don't care...The King still gets 5 stars from us. And if you want a cheaper meal, McD's is right next door. (gaack). read more

Let me preface this review by saying that the Oh Johnny! and Dirty Larry represent, in my opinion, the highest quality foodstuffs Olney has to offer. Nothing beats the succulent, moist Oh Johnny and the Dirty Larry's thickly-carved turkey breast neighbored by Swiss cheese and Angry Sauce (I think, check the menu!). At approximately $11 a sandwich it ain't cheap, especially if you're experimenting with the menu. My issues arise here because while these sandwiches alone deserve a 7 stars out of 5, unfortunately not everything meets quite the same standard. I've had CBK many times and seldom had a meal I didn't enjoy. Their interpretation of the meatball sub is pretty great and their staff is amazing. They're hard working, dedicated culinary masters who legitimately put their all into what they're providing for you from the grill to the register. However, to get back to the point I was trying to make, the knish (spelling?) was cold and flavorless when I ordered it; the onion rings are nothing special and potentially frozen, though I don't know for sure; and the pastrami sandwich my aunt was looking forward to failed to come close to what I hyped it up to be. She might be from NYC, but after trying her sandwich personally (this was last month) I can say it was underwhelming and I felt terrible for her because it was legitimately that unsatisfying. To note, here's always a short wait not because the line is long, which it usually is, but because the food is being prepared fresh for you on the spot. It's never unwarranted and always worth it, but expect to be in and out in a minimum of five minutes. Corned Beef King is a fantastic option for sandwiches when the mood strikes you, but go knowing what you're getting yourself into. The Oh Johnny! is always a safe bet and will give you faith in what they have to offer. read more

I drive by this place every day on my way to work and finally decided to try it a week or so ago. I was super excited because the reviews were really great. However, in the end I was extremely disappointed with my meal. I got a corned beef on rye with mustard along with the knish. The sandwich was super mediocre. It was my first time having corned beef, and maybe this is just an acquired taste, but I did not think it lived up to the hype. Similarly, the knish was just alright. People who rate this less than five stars must not have any taste buds or some sort of sensory malfunction. This is better than any Jewish Deli in Manhattan. The Ruben is the best I have ever eaten. Fantastic corned beef sandwich that is piled high!! As a native to NY/NJ delis this place is a touch of home right in our backyard.

Ordered the reuben w. side of cole slaw and potato salad. Cost about $12 but split everything with my wife. Neither of us could finish our portion. The reuben consisted of a pile of tender corned beef and a generous heap of melted swiss. The bread was buttered and toasted. Reminded me of the type of reuben you get in a real NY deli. Potato salad was average - not great. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Well worth it. Plan to return soon - maybe tomorrow! read more

I have been coming to the Corned Beef King for several years and before today I would have rated it a 5+. I was so excited to have my favorite pastrami today and it was not good! The meat was sliced thick and very fatty. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I'm from Los Angeles and I was so excited when I found the Corned Beef King, but today was a total disappointment. I only gave this review 2 stars because it has always been so good on my past visits. I will probably try it at least one more time, but it will be awhile. This place could not be more awesome. And totally unassuming in a gas station - you will not have a better sandwich ANYWHERE. The proprietor and assistants are awesome and I guarantee you've never seen a bigger vat of corned beef. Then there's the sandwiches -- to call one a "Dagwood" would be a gross understatement. They are truly monstrous, and there is so much meat, you might not even finish it -- and good luck trying to wrap your face around it. It is a force of nature. Having worked on Rockville Pike for close to 20 years, it was a burden to have to travel to Seven Locks Road , or Olney, or Silver Spring to find a top tier corned beef sandwich--or to have to sweat out if the truck was going to make it that day. Face it, chopped salad or raw fish, however contemporary, doesn't give you the satisfied, stick to the ribs feeling of a meat overstuffed sandwich. Then came Corned Beef King. This place is the real deal. The corned beef is tender and flavorful, as is the house-roasted turkey, and the thick, juicy brisket. The menu has both traditional and inventive sandwich combinations. The Oh Johnny--brisket, melted swiss , carmelized onions, fried onion rings, au jus, and angry sauce on a ciabatta roll--is nothing less than an endorphin surge on a paper plate. This is hands down the best place to get a sandwich in the entire state of Maryland. I didn't think that a cheese steak had any room for improvement and then you out tender and juicy brisket on it. The bun is even good. The corned we'd has great flavor and comes in a New York sized sandwich. It's hard to believe that this place is in a gas station and not in a restaurant of its own. Went with my family this past weekend and I must say I was more than pleased. Although I didn't try any of their famous corned beef, I had a sandwich with shrimp salad and bacon. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!
