I was so disappointed when they left around my area (Olney) and moved to Rockville. A little bit of a drive than before but it's worth the drive. They're still located inside a gas station, only it's with Liberty rather than Exxon. Upon arrival, I got the O Jonnys which is a sub sandwich on focaccia bread smothered with their horseradish sauce layered with their tender, juicy, and succulent primed brisket. Now I wasn't expecting nor prepared for the brisket to be so tender for the fact that the cut was thick (from bad experiences). But when I bit into that sandwich, it was everything I wasn't expecting. A nice, soft, crispy bun coupled with that flavor packed brisket. Add in a fried onion ring for a satisfying crunch with sautéed onions and melted Swiss cheese. Yum! Definitely place to stop by and try their sandwich. read more

I would have given this 5 stars as the corned beef and the pastrami is excellent. With that said - do not waste you calories on the knish. It's gross and not at all what you want or need out of a knish. If you don't know what a knish is - well this might be great for you but this is simply not a knish. It's puff pastry filled with chunky potato and corned beef hash and maybe some other things . It was greasy and mushy and gross. The sandwich was by far the star of this show. It too was a bit more greasy thank I'd prefer and could use some better rye bread. Still the meat was great. This is in a gas station convenience store. Grab and go is your best bet. read more

First time here, I think the corned beef is very soft and light in texture. There's no doubt this sandwich is tasty. If I were to go again, I would order the Rueben or the identity crisis. As the corned beef and Swiss I had felt a bit too plain. Overall considering for the size of the sandwich I am getting, it's a tad expensive. I expect the sandwich to be more filling for its price. OK, I've wanted to grab a sandwich from these guys for a long time and today was the day! They did not disappoint. The corned beef was plentiful and amazing. This sandwich had the right amount of everything that a Ruben is supposed to be. I had it delivered to my house and because it's a hot sandwich the container that it was delivered in steamed up the bread a bit and made it a little moist. That's on me. This is a review of the truck that is consistently located at 17821 Georgia Ave in Olney, next to the Onelife Fitness. I got a Reuben with a side of potato salad. The potato salad blew me away -- sweet, tangy, peppery, well-salted. The corned beef was great and high quality -- tender and flavorful. The sauerkraut was very tart and so was the pickle. The bread was toasted crisp. Overall, tartness dominated my palate and I was glad to have the potato salad to help balance. Pricey but generous portions. I didn't need to eat this much. The Corned Beef King truck was parked outside of Jailbreak Brewing in Laurel on St. Paddy's Day. Smart planning for Jailbreak! I went with the Classic Reuben and my hubby had the Milly Ann. The Classic Reuben was pretty good-- piled high with corned beef, topped with kraut, swiss & provolone, and finished with zesty Russian dressing. My hubby was disappointed with the Milly Ann. The menu states "crispy rye" so he thought his sandwich would be grilled like a traditional reuben. However, it was just on regular rye. The price was a little high for a food truck, nearly $30 for two sandwiches (no drinks or sides). Overall, Corned Beef King was great to have while out drinking on St. Paddy's Day. I've been trying to get here for two years and finally made it! The taste is there NO DENYING THE LOVE THATS PUT IN THIS FOOD! I will say this is a different style of sandwiches cause they put just as much crout or slaw on the sandwich but everything is so tasty and they managed to keep it still kept on a good buttered piece of rye toast. I remembered trying Corned Beef King at a yelp event a couple of months ago so when I found myself in need of a quick lunch in the area I remembered these guys. They are located inside a gas station, but do not let that fool you. The food was just as excellent as I remembered it from the event. I got the Manhattan which is pastrami, coleslaw, Russian dressing on rye. They do not skimp on the meat as it is piled on high. Meat was tender and seasoned very well. Great sandwiches served with home made meats! Not many places today serve you a fair portion of meat in your sandwich. Usually you have to order extra meat and you still don't get the quantity that any NY or NJ native grew up with in their sandwiches. There are even Jewish/Boston delis in the area which charge a lot more and give you much less. Not so with the Corned Beef King! You get a great sandwich and a fair portion. Just don't come if you are on a diet as even the veggie sandwiches shoot up your cholesterol. But that's not why we eat it, right? Today I got the tuna melt, because you know...I was looking for something healthy. The tuna was awesome. I ordered a drink which would have been about $2 and he tells me for $3 I can get a combo which includes a side AND a drink. And one of my side choices was chili... I accepted that meal option before he even finished rattling off the sides. I didn't come for chili, but who am I to turn down a side of Corned Beef King, chili?!?! Not this guy. The chili was great! I'll be back to this truck again as soon as I finish digesting the Tuna Melt...some time next month. Five star tasting corned beef. Stopped here to get gas on the way back to DC and thought hey, someone calling themselves the corned beef king? From inside a gas station? Is this a hidden gem? I need to put that to the test. So I did. The reuben on rye was packed - PACKED - with corned beef and they grill the bread while you wait. You get a pickle with it too. Prices are a tad steep but you get a ton of food; one sandwich was enough for my wife and me. They have other sandwich options, too. There are tables inside if you want to stay but you can just as easily get it to go. The only reason I'm docking a star is because it looked like the corned beef was kept in a big block inside a microwave and reheated as needed. I tried the identity crisis which has pastrami and corned beef on rye bread and it was delicious and had great flavor. Corn Beef King was such a hit when they started in the food truck. Very best corned beef sandwiches, Reubens, etc.! I just ordered a Rueben after 2 years. Still tasty, although it was sitting in a puddle of dressing so the bottom bread was soggy and disintegrated when I picked it up. The whole sandwich fell apart in my hands. Worse, it cost $19+! The Milly Ann corned beef sandwich blew me away, and I like to think it helped massively with my first impression of Maryland. The corned beef was melting tender and full of flavour, and so were the rye bread and slaw. It was so good actually, I almost cried a little, and then I wanted to get up and dance my happy dance. I didn't have the highest hopes for this place. It's attached to a gas station, how good could it be? Really, really good. The portions are unreal. Their monster sandwiches are easily split between two, or save half for later. If you're grabbing lunch solo, as I was, this might give you a little sticker shock. My lunch combo was $18, which is a bit more than I would usually pay for lunch. The portion is unreal, though, and worth it. The other half is awaiting 2pm second lunch. Some places make up for lacking quality with quantity. Not the King. The corned beef was perfectly seasoned, not too dry, and not soup on toast. Just delicious. The pastrami? Ditto. As a fan of Katz's in NYC and Stachowski's in Georgetown I was excited to find CBK! Located in a gas station, the pastrami at CBK was much thinner than Katz's & Stachowski's but still had great flavor and paired well with the brown mustard. I have to say the thick and presumably homemade rye bread really made the sandwich! My husband really enjoyed the identity crisis sandwich and the onion rings were great as well. The 411: this is a well known sandwich shop that makes respectable Reubens. From my perspective as a novice to Jewish Deli cuisine, it's very good and I've never had better. Whether or not it's on the level of god tier, I couldn't tell you (yet!) As of May, 2018, the sandwich establishment operates out of a food truck by the gas station that it used to work in. I'm not sure if it goes to different areas. The Manhattan: this succulent sandwich comes with healthy serving of pastrami, cheese and coleslaw (but I got sauerkraut instead of slaw). I very much enjoyed this sandwich! The pastrami is smoky and salty and tasted fresh. It was sliced thin and piled high on a nice rye bread. Sauerkraut was mild. Would've preferred more pungency but it wasn't bad. Russian dressing went with the smoky meat very well! Cheese was also nice and nutty! The knish (my first knish ever, by the way) was very palatable to me and I very much enjoyed it! Flaky, thin fresh crust stuffed with potato, onion and corned beef, it also had a slight buttery flavor and was nice and warm when I got it. Served with Russian dressing and it was really good! Served with obligatory pickle, nothing special. Rather mild pickle. Bottom line: for a slightly steep price of nearly $14 for a big sandwich, this place definitely satisfies my novice taste buds! I'm always on the lookout for interesting culinary experiences. Unfortunately this isn't one of them. I tried this place at the urging of locals, expecting a much better experience than was delivered. Corned Beef King was (is?) a food truck (which is bad enough) to a fairly dirty gas station that reeks of cigarettes. The food truck, however, is still parked out front, and it's confusing at first if you're supposed to order at the gas station or the food truck (I should add here that I'm not a fan of food trucks. I have never understood the hype surrounding them, but I digress). Come to find out, you order inside, then walk over and pay at the same counter where you pay for your gas for some reason. Thank God Mr. X wasn't here for this adventure, I'd have never heard the end of it. Anyway let's press on... I ordered the Reuben. Frankly, they make better Reubens across the street at the Silver Diner, and by a long shot. My idea upon entering was that I'd be receiving an enormous gastronomical delight on par with the Carnegie Deli, but I was sadly disappointed. Not only is the quantity of meat lacking (mind you, this is a $12.00 sandwich... TWELVE DOLLARS!), but the taste and quality just was not there. The meat and cheese is microwaved before it's shoveled onto the bread, making the outside of the meat burning hot while the inside is still room temp. Not good. Overall, my biggest disappointment was the overall lack of taste or wow factor, and the small size of the sandwich for the very high price. Not to mention it's served in a see-through plastic clam shell (why do people still use these?) that refuses to stay snapped closed, spilling sandwich contents all over the inside of my bag. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. Just about any diner makes a better sandwich, that's no exaggeration. I will not return. This review is long overdue. Corned Beef King is one of my favorite quick-service restaurants in the entire DC, MD, VA area. They started as a food truck parked at a gas station in Olney back in 2011, and because they truly are the "corned beef kings", they quickly became popular, reviving many accolades, and soon after opened up inside that gas station, while simultaneously taking their truck on the road. After their rent got ridiculously hiked up, they left Olney and set up camp in 2018 at the Liberty Gas Station on Rockville Pike, where they also keep the truck parked. And now, officially this week, they've opened up inside of Dawnon's Market in downtown Rockville. Walking distance to my home!!! The owner, Jon Rossler, has grown up in the deli business, with his family owning and operating Celebrity Deli. Jon, being a food genius, figured out a way to take that already delicious corned beef, and kicking it up a bunch of notches to what I believe is the best corned beef around, by far. Even his pastrami can compete w/ Katz's in NYC! It's hard for me to break away from their Reuben or regular Corned Beef sandwich. Typically, I go with the wife and we get one of each and share. But sometimes I am craving a steak and cheese, and Jon's is an amazing rendition, using hand carved prime brisket. The Milly Ann is another favorite of mine. I've eaten their corned beef sandwiches at every location, and almost always they are fantastic. This time, I tried out the new location at the local gas station. They are now not in a truck, but rather inside as part of the station. Walking in, the place is absolutely filthy and stinks of cigarette smoke. I would absolutely tell you to try any of their other locations, but this one was a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. UPDATE 5/29/19 So, after some time I decided to go back to corned beef King to give them one more shot. Today, while preparing my sandwich, they microwaved the meat. You do not microwave a Reuben. They did. I'm done forever. Their quality has gone straight downhill. They had a great product and now, bad. Simply bad. Microwaved food out of a greasy and smoke smelling gas station. Who wants this with better options so close by? Nope. Came during normal hours. Bad practices. Lowered stars to reflect your deflection. I'm pretty confident that if you look up the recipe for Rubens, anywhere, they will never include the word microwave. The Corned Beef King is a MoCo food truck owned by Jon Rossler (Celebrity Delly). You can find their trucks or visit their more 'permanent' location at the Exxon off of Georgia. I visited the latter, and the menu offers various styles of corned beef, prime brisket, pastrami, and even other meats such as turkey and gyro, and seafood such as Maine lobster claw and jumbo tiger shrimp. I ordered a Corned Beef on Rye, with a side of mustard. The half pound of corned beef that was sandwiched in between the two slices of rye was pretty generous; however, the sliced corned beef was super dry. T___T I was a little sad, as the pictures on the menu as well as the other patrons' pictures depict a much different experience, of the sandwich being super juicy, moist, and delicious T____T I'd love to give this place another try, maybe the food truck the second go-around, as I'd like to try their pastrami, the prime brisket, the prime brisket steak and cheese, and the cheese/chili mac. This little restaurant inside of a gas station is a special place for me. In 2018, my wedding was hosted at the Hilton, which is literally half a block down. During the break in between the ceremony and reception, couple of my friends were hungry and ventured around the neighborhood. They came back with several hefty sandwiches. This small stand within an exon gas station is a bit of a gem in the rough. While the dinning space is little more than a few tables in a gas station convenience store, the sandwiches served are the best in the area. The corned beef is made in house and served in large sandwiches with a large portion of meat. The various sandwiches are savory beasts combining the corned beef, pastrami and cold cuts with cheese, sautéed veggies, sauces, egg, etc.. The price at 12$ for a sandwich is a pretty awesome deal for the quality and portion size. Our favorite is the clucking E-burg which has a combo of pastrami and corned beef, and egg, sautéed veggies, and their house sauce. One of the best sandwiches you'll have in Maryland.
