Burnt pancakes EVERY time. I always have to send them back. Please fix this problem, Corner Bakery.

This place is either the worlds busiest corner bakery or they just don't plan too well. My family and I came in for breakfast at 9:30 and they were out of everything. I've been to the Corner Bakery in Mission Valley and the service is always great. I was excited to bring my husband to the Carlsbad location but found that on a Sunday afternoon at 2p, it was tough to find a clean table. Staff member on a break was keeping the working staff from cleaning tables. I HATE that the food is so good here because the customer service is atrocious. We used to go in every Tuesday and Thursday night during our class dinner and they ALWAYS mess up at least one persons order. It wouldn't bother me so much if they were busy, but we were a group of 5 and we came in every night around 7 so the restaurant is pretty empty. If you correct them about your order, they can get really snippy and defensive which can be frustrating if your paid for your meal and you want what you paid for. I have to say though the food really is quite delicious, and if you order right before closing time you're bound to get a free pastry because they can't serve them the next day. read more

At this place now. They don't pay attention at all. Place is slow due to Black Friday. Ordered two coffees and two pastries. They didn't give us forks for the pastries and then acted like I was asking for something crazy when I asked for them. Then...we almost finished our pastries and remembered - where are the coffees?? Carlsbad's own Corner Bakery opened today amidst the mild fanfare generated by their offer of a travel mug and card for free coffee for a year to the first 100 people at 7am. We learned that their doors will always open at 6:45am, and not close until 15 min. past the posted time. There was no line left after about 40 first patrons had placed their orders, so with our cups already filled to the brim, we then decided to alert our coffee loving friends. : ) HG and I already have free coffee for life with our Tip Top travel cups, but we are so enamored of "Free" that he suggested the precaution of getting our coffee cards laminated. The CB coffee isn't particularly special, but you can add sugar-free hazelnut flavoring, and, I think, chocolate or vanilla syrups. The Scramblers are excellent (HG always gets the Farmer - egg whites .59 extra), and I like the Commuter Croissant, the oatmeal which comes with the mix-ins in cunning bits of crockery (if you ask for them separately), and the chocolate muffin studded with wonderful crunchy blobs. We've never bought any of the whole coffee cakes or cookies, but they always look consistently enticing. I associate CBs with big cities because we first noticed them in DC and downtown Chicago and Dallas, so I guess that makes Carlsbad an urban mecca! Another thing about CBs is that they usually provide stand-out service - the C-bad location has already found some great servers who knew their menu and the answers to a couple of tricky questions (not that we were trying to test them, but it was impressive that they knew anything on the first day). Since I do equate eating at Corner Bakeries with waking up to a new adventure in an exciting place (I got new diamonds next door to the Westwood one), I really enjoy the atmosphere despite it being a chain. A corporate rep was there to hold the door open, and she said their main competition was Panera - I never thought of them as similar because Panera has no breakfast MEAT and very few warm food options - though I love Panera for lunch. Also, my bill at P. always shocks me, whereas at CB, I'm always pleasantly surprised. read more

I ordered from here for my boyfriend and myself, I'm a vegetarian and he isn't. He got pancakes and bacon and a scrambled egg dish with toast and I got pancakes eggs and toast and requested no bacon. We only got one order of toast. And his bacon was with my eggs, so I couldn't eat my eggs. The pancakes were ok. But that's all I could eat. Overall we aren't happy at all with our order. read more

I asked some blonde for a to-go box and osays " sorry I'm off " then her and another ran off to the back lmao goofy asf. One of the girls was sweet and apologize . Hey love the food but don't try to order ahead. Their "phone order" counter is staffed by people who won't give you the time of day. I get it your busy, how about looking up when I'm right in front of you. Great business means you can let customer service wander but soon enough things change. I love Corner Bakery. The food is excellent...however... This particular site is always busy on the weekends, there is always wait for a table. That is fine, but part of the reason there are never any tables is because the tables are filthy. They just have not been bused; and if they have, you cannot tell. It is a real shame. Great location, great food, love their coffee; I have been here many times. Just wish they could focus more efforts on getting the dining room up to the same standards as the food. read more

This place is Panera Bread's fraternal twin. Sandwiches, soups, grilled paninis, & salads. I ordered a plain ol turkey sandwich & if I order a boring item like that I expect good meat & good bread and that's exactly what I got. Their harvest grain bread is so yummy & the kettle chips & pickle were just enough to fill me up. I wanted to try one of their 6 soup options but I knew I would be stuffed. My dad ordered the meatball panini & really liked his sandwich too! Good place to stop after a busy day of shopping at the outlets! read more

I'm so happy they finally opened one in Carlsbad!! It's a great place to have breakfast and hang out for coffee with the kiddo or friends. I think their chicken pomodori has changed over the years. I remember it being a big actualy piece of chicken breast vs like chicken breast thick deli slices. But overall, the food is still great. The breakfast paninis are very good too and price is very decent. Nothing super fancy, but enough to fill your tummy to get you on your way! read more

I have been coming here sporadically for lunch for a few years now and the service and quality of food has dropped so dramatically in recent months, I will no longer be going back. First of all, the service is sub par. If I wanted to deal with a surly teenage who avoids eye contact and would rather grumble at me than make coherent conversation, I will go to Forever 21. I do not need that kind of service when I am just trying to order lunch. The cashier, Ingrid, was more focused and frustrated with the receipt tape than offering kind/nice/quality customer service. I appreciated the eye roll Ingrid, right back at ya girl. The salad I ordered (The Spinach Sweet Crisp) tasted like the spinach had not been washed and the fruit was overripe and falling apart. No thanks Corner, you were good while you lasted, but bad food and bad service isn't worth my time. read more

Fantastic customer service!!! Received regular eggs instead of ordered egg whites and THE MANAGER came out and apologized and gave us a coupon thingy for next time I came by. I was shocked! He was super friendly and apologetic, lol I could care less about not getting egg whites but was very impressed with all the staff, and my non egg white bagel sandwich was awesome! I think 12.00 is kinda expensive for a cup of soup, half a sandwich and a drink ? Maybe because it was dinner ? Also I think the soup is the same as the soup you get at subway or is that just me ? Is it me or did corner bakers make really good sandwiches and serve Joe's chili before. Well now they seem to be all about panini's and breakfast and although they have increased their excellent soup menu, I could not find my beloved chili. Don't get me wrong I love a Panini as much as the next person, but a warm sandwich doesn't make the sandwich better, just warm. As a chef I can do wonders with salt and cream, but as a restaurant better and a grill don't cut it. The soups are still great, the service is still very good because it can get super busy here, actually all locations are known to get packed. Honestly I've had the Anaheim breakfast Panini twice and I barely noticed at the end that there was bacon in it. That either means my first had none or the first 3 halves of my Panini's didn't have any either. A thicker cut bacon, cured, smoked and chopped it melds well with the green onions. I guess we all have to change with the times, but I preferred the old menu with all the desserts and baked goods. The line for lunch can be out the door and the parking sucks. The spaces are too small and people can't park their car. People tend to treat this place like a Starbucks and linker quite a bit, for hours and hours and study and whatnot. I'm all for having business meetings over dinner and such, but it's such an eclectic mix of things here. The décor is very nice, but that line out the door and around the corner can be annoying for other patrons. Love the food and will come back, but I miss the old days at the other locations and don't want this place to turn into a combination Starbucks/subway. A hidden gem no longer, it's a prime location to steal shoppers from across the street. read more

I was so excited to see a Corner Bakery in North County especially one next to the Carlsbad Outlets and Costco since its nice to grab a bite before a big shopping trip. I love the breakfast here. Its inexpensive and quick. Order at the counter and they bring it to you at your table. My favorite is the Anaheim Scrambler. Fresh scrambled eggs and chopped veggies and smoked bacon you cant go wrong. It comes with toast and potatoes DEFINITELY enough food for two. A great deal for around 7 dollars. My hubbo swears by the breakfast sammos. I never really come here for lunch but this is a must try for a quick breakfast. read more

I first started going to corner bakery with my best friend at the one located in Irvine. It was good and the food was fresh. I was really happy when they had opened a corner bakery in Carlsbad because it was near work and home. My first few visits were not so bad. Then, I took my husband and he SERIOUSLY hated it! Honestly, service was bad and the food was ok. I constantly still went and tonight/today is my last time buying from them. Got a to go order and I got the wrong salad. I couldn't come back to exchange my salad because my lung was over. Then, when I got there after work, nothing was offered and I was missing my avocado in my salad. Plus, my salad was soggy as the dressing was on the side. Disappointing. read more

I wasn't happy to have my order brought to my table and not be what I just ordered less than 4 minutes prior. The young child, with the HUGE nose piercing, at the register obviously is in the wrong position here, or profession for that matter. She shouldn't be interacting with the public nor helping anyone directly. Cleaning up tables and emptying trash is the best job for this girl. There wouldn't be anything to do incorrectly or make customers feel like they weren't being tended to improperly. This may sound like a rant or I'm being too uptight, but I was on a limited time line and had no desire to prolong my breakfast and be late to my appointment after wards. I have no respect for the management here if this is any indication of the type of employee hired to fill a service industry position. I will NOT be returning to this location. read more

Came here with my friend and our littles after a playdate! She highly recommended the mac n cheese lunch special, so I ordered without an hesitation. It was delicious and the portions are generous enough that I was able to share with my little guy. The caesar salad was really good too! read more

Food is great. But the customer service is the worst. Call 2 hours ahead for an order for a small tray of pasta and sweet treat. They put me on hold for 20 minuets for the order. By the time I get there, I still need to wait for 40 minuets. They have a lot of workers and seems everyone is not too happy. If you have limited time, suggest go somewhere. While you may be thinking that a one-star rating of this trendy Carlsbad eatery is harsh, I based that rating on the Yelp description for one star (which is "Eek! Methinks not."). Had I given a two-star rating, the Yelp description would have been "Meh. I've experienced better." And that's way too generous. It just is. Because the food here sucks. It really does. In every possible way, the food sucks. No, it's not as bad as Subway or Submarina but those establishments would receive significantly less than one-star reviews from me. A handful of pine nuts would be a far more enjoyable lunch. The only good thing about this place is that it didn't exist before 2011. read more
