I've seen this place driving & past it but finally gave it a try today. I'm so glad I did! First of all when you walk in it's extremely clean. The place is large but has the feel of a quiet quaint place, love it! I ordered the Ham & Pretzel sandwich with a side Caesar salad in substitute for the chips. The staff was very friendly & the food came out pretty quick! My sandwich was awesome. The bread tasted fresh & they don't skimp on the meat. The side salad was really yummy too! I was not disappointed. Also, the hibiscus lemonade is a MUST in the Houston heat, refreshing. It is a little pricy for a sandwich shop but it's a great lunch spot. I absolutely love this place! The food is very good, they have a large variety of foods for a soup and salad location. They are always so kind to me and everyone else when I come in. Three different types of ice teas and TONS and TONS of sweets. The music is played low but sets a good mood. The whole staff is always smiling and laughing when I walk in. this place is great. the first time i went to a corner bakery cafe was in chicago. it's another version of panera bread to me but what i like is that they have breakfast here and not just pastries. they have a good dessert bar too. the cookies are good. just glad to have a couple more options to choose from now and it's a nice ambiance when you walk in also. it's as if you were walking...into a corner bakery cafe. cheesy! read more

I love this place! The layout and atmosphere is reminiscent of Panera Bread and Starbucks, with more space and better food. It's like being transported to a French cafe with the perfect amount of ambient noise and lots of really cute babies. As for food, I really enjoy their 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup or salad combo. They also have great breakfast omelettes. I usually come here to study; one time I are three meals and spent 11 hours at the cafe (I know...how sad), but the friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and good food kept my spirits up. They have a limited number of outlets though, I think only 5? There's one next to the armchairs, on in the book next to the soda machine, and one on each wall under the large photographs. read more

Yesterday was the first time I was ever able to step foot in this establishment. I am usually only in the area at night, at which by that time, the bakery is closed. It has always caught my attention when I drove by since it looks so great on the outside (it looks pretty cool inside too). The patio has an attractive awning that compliments well maintained chairs outside. Inside reminded me of a McAlister's - but had better furniture. The customer service was wonderful. I was greeted by at least three different people as I was approaching the cashier to make my order. I only ordered the "Mom's Chicken Noodle Soup". It came with a stick of bread. Both the soup and the bread were a little too..hmm..."oily" for my liking. Whenever I drank the soup or bit into the bread, I felt like I had just put chapstick on my lips and had to wipe my mouth after each bite. I don't think I have any strange eating habits for that to occur...at least to my knowledge. I would give this place three stars - I am not a fan of the place as of yet, but I wouldn't hesitate to give it another try and ordering something different. Corner Bakery is a really cute place to go, but the food just isn't that great. I have tried many a dishes and none I was really excited about eating again. Then why do I keep coming back? Its a great place to study. They have free wifi and you can refill your coffee as much as you want. They also have really comfy booths that your butt won't fall asleep in. If you aren't in a coffee mood they have other ways for you to get your caffeine fix. They have 3 types of iced tea, all good (sweet tea, black ice tea and a fruity tea). If you are going to come here for studying I suggest coming after 2. People come here for their business lunch and are extremely loud. They also have a nice outdoor patio area that is covered which is very nice. The best food I have gotten here is their scrambled eggs. They were really good. I have tried sandwiches and soups. Not bad but would rather make something at home for the price they charge. Their desserts and pastry's are really fun to look at but aren't always the best either. The brownie is not good at all. The cinnamon cream cake is pretty good. My friend likes the pecan bar and raspberry bar. (studying rewards) Their cups of soup are really good for holding me over till I get home to eat dinner. Great for big groups of people because you walk up to a counter to order and you can push a bunch of tables together. All in all I wouldn't come here just to eat. This is a nice place to go in the mornings on a weekend to just sit, read your paper, and enjoy some food. I've gotten breakfast from Corner Bakery twice, and this time I was a little disappointed. The first time, I got a standard bacon/eggs/toast/potatoes kind of breakfast. I wasn't too impressed, but I wasn't disappointed. I noticed brioche french toast on the menu, and regretted not getting it. So about a month later, I'm back. I ordered the french toast. I was disappointed. My eggs were overcooked, my bacon seemed like it was cooked hours ago (and it was cold), and the brioche french toast was soggy before I added the syrup. The only thing saving this review is the fact that my strawberry banana smoothy was pretty darn delicious. I think I might come back one more time to give it one more chance -- lunch maybe? But I think the breakfast quota for Corner Bakery has run out. read more

Decent sandwich shop. The panini's are best here, sandwiches are average. The uptown turkey isn't too shabby, nothing amazing and nothing bad. I usually get the club panini with a soup combo- the chicken noodle and corn poblano are both pretty good here, haven't had a chance to try the chili or tortilla soup. The chicken carbonara was surprisingly good for a cafe. Have you tried cooking carbonara before? Not as easy as you'd think. It's not overdone, just the simple ingredients of applewood smoked bacon, peas, chicken and pasta. What I also like is how easy access is to the nutritional information on their website, located just beneath each menu item. read more

I kind of discovered this place out of curiosity after many Sundays of shopping next door at CVS. This place is one of my off-and-on places to have Sunday breakfast at. I usually order the All American Scrambler w/ apple chicken sausage and Earl Grey tea. The atmosphere is wonderful with a comfortable noise level even when groups are there either conducting book club discussions or a birthday party (which occurred this past Sunday). I had the joy of chowing down on this delicious concoction last weekend since I was in the mood for breakfast, but didn't want to eat 1) ihop 2) fast food breakfast and 3) house of pies burned down. This was my first time at Corner Bakery, my fiancee has been a few times before. She told me it was ok and that it's hit or miss for her. I had my expectations set pretty low after she set it up for me like this, but I was blown away by how great the Anaheim Panini was (see description in first line). There was the right amount of crunch in the bread, the eggs were piping hot, and the combo of bacon and fresh veggies + avocado just put me in a great mood for the rest of the day. I've heard people rave about sandwiches and salads, so I decided to give them shot, but for breakfast. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Would not recommend. The bagel had a mediocre store bought bagel taste, and they gave my Philly cream cheese for about the same price as one at Einstein's, which tastes so much better. read more

This is a great place to go for afternoon lunch or an early dinner. My wife and I stopped in here leaving church a few weeks back and I'm just now getting to doing this review. Tried this place out for the first time, finally! It is conveniently located on Kirby and 59 freeway feeder. It's a nice café and bakery. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the Cuban sandwich. Both were ok, nothing spectacular. We also ordered cappuccinos and a brownie. Those were ok too. It's a nice and clean place. Staff is very helpful and friendly also. It was decent but not spectacular. I would maybe try it again but order something different. All of it cost around $30 for the 2 of us. Cute big place. Came by for breakfast xmas eve before work. So the guy that took my order was nice. I ordered oats with bananas & side of bacon to go. He gave me a number and told me someone will bring me my food. So I went to the couch and sat down. 20 min later everyone got their food but me. How long does it take to make oats?! So I asked the staff and no one would look me in the eye and walked off. the guy that helped me just mumbled that the lady said she called my number. Uh no. I was sitting right there listening to everyone. Plus the lady was bringing customers their to go orders but left mine at the counter to get cold? Yeah...... Came back a couple times later no issues. Then the most recent time, I Called in my order salad, 2 cold steel oats, cinnamon roll, iced latte, panini. It took 30 min for order to be ready. Notice only the panini had to be cooked. They forgot my meal again. I sat there and the manager and the girl at the counter kept asking what I ordered. After 30 min I blew up at the manager and they rushed to get my order out. I haven't tried too much of the baked goods yet, but I'm a big fan of the meals. I've had the grilled veggie panini. The veggies slide out a little, but that's to be expected. My FAVORITE thing here though is the 3 lentil vegetable soup. Yeah, I know, lentils are for hippies. Give it a try though. It's great. The tomato basil soup is good too. I'd tried the combos a couple of times, but I really don't need any of that other stuff. Gimme a bowl and a little bread for dipping, and I'm good to go. One time I ordered one of their demi pretzel rolls with it too, toasted of course. OMG, that was yummy. The only sweet thing I've tried was the chocolate chip cookie. I've had better. Next time maybe I'll start exploring the muffins like another reviewer suggests. read more

I come here for lunch sometimes when I feel like sitting somewhere quiet to enjoy my meal. The food is a bit pricey for what it is, personally, I think Panera Bread is a better value. This is a good place to study though, the booths are wide and comfy, wifi is free, and there are lots of tables next to windows if you like natural lighting. Portions are pretty small...half a sandwich, soup, and a drink is about $10. I haven't found a sandwich here that has really impressed me, but I quite like their loaded baked potato soup and the chopped salad. Desserts here are also stellar...I always get the M&M cookie. It's soft, chewy and decadent. Yummy. Overall, good place to go if you're feeling slightly more splurge-y, and you want to unwind a bit. If you're in more of a hurry, Chick-Fil-A is in the same shopping center. read more

I had two goals this morning: Get food and get more studying done. I decided to try out Corner Bakery Cafe because I had seen it when I went to Chicago and was interested in trying it out. Since it's corporate, there isn't anything too special about it. I had a mug of coffee and The Greek salad. I wasn't too impressed with the salad. Even though it's the smaller size (cafe instead of entree), I was expecting more for $5.79. There's also supposed to be artichokes on it but I only found one :( I had originally wanted to get the California Grille but was told that it was premixed so I couldn't get it without cheese, which contradicted the cashier's earlier statement that since "everything's made on the spot, so I can fix it how you like it.." Still, the cashier was really sweet and let me just take the mug and told me to pay later since I wasn't ready to eat anything at the moment. Also, I loved how they post what's vegan and vegetarian on their website online. Great for a person trying out veganism (that's me!). For you studiers, there's free wifi but limited plugs. Most of us with laptops can be found crowding the couch area. And bring earphones for lunch hour. The noise level definitely ups during that time. Ooh did I mention the unlimited coffee?! That.. is always a plus. Well, I assume it's unlimited because the coffee is self-serve.. Let's just say it is until I'm scolded. I'm on my third cup (2 of the Hazelnut Cream and 1 of the Decaf). Both flavors were good enough without cream; however, I should probably stop drinking any more though since I just spilled some on my laptop. Customer service here is Awesome! They even help you bring your order out to the car. They make you feel like you are their number 1 client! I really like this place.
