Long time customer leaving this review due to the fact they will not let you cancel online orders. I placed an order to this location by accident online so the online app has the option to cancel. I cancelled the order immediately after placing it. I get no notification or email to update me so after a minute I call to make sure. the employee let me know she will in fact cancel the order, but the manager jumps in says they can't cancel since the food is already made.....the food was made within 2 minuets of me placing the order? sounded like to me they were just trying to make me eat old food they had laying around. I made the decision to just go and pick up the food, and when i get home to eat, the panini I ordered smelled weird, the bread was toasted but the chicken was cold and smelled odd. I could not eat after the first bite ended up throwing it away. Used to really enjoy coming here but our meal wasn't the greatest today. Firstly no indoor dining and we had to wait outside for our order. Then we took our food and went to a local park to eat to find that our bag of kettle chips that came with our "pick two" orders (one order came with garlic bread and one came with the chips) was not placed in our to go bag. Then we opened our chicken soup which turned out to be mainly a chicken broth with scraps of noodles and bits of chicken. Today, my nephew ordered the 2 pair deal: soup and pasta. He got the chicken noodle soup and mac n cheese! I have to say the mac n cheese is so scrumptious. Love the cheese flavor. I ordered dinner on their website and scheduled to have it ready for pick up today Oct 3rd at 3:45. My order went through fine, I prepaid etc so I'm all set. Or so I thought. When I get to the restaurant the doors are locked with a sign on the door saying due to maintenance they had to close at 3, sorry for the inconvenience. I understand things happen but my email address and cell phone number are both on my order. Can I not be contacted to let me know of the issue so I don't waste a trip? So far my card still indicates as charges pending so we'll see if this gets refunded as she says. I'm disappointed Corner Bakery. This is the 2nd time I've had issues. Corner Bakery used to be a resto that we frequented more often, but sadly the quality and service has gone down. On our last visit I requested to hold the tomatoes on my sandwich and instead add red onions and basil. This is my go-to order and they used to make these subs easily. But on this day's visit I was told there would be an upcharge of 25 cents to add the onions. Umm, but what about my not wanting the tomatoes that come with the sandwich? Last I checked, tomatoes were a heck of a lot more expensive than onion. In N Out reduces the price of a burger if you ask for "no tomato"...just sayin'. Anyway, once we got our food I noticed there seemed to be an imprint of ink on the plate my sandwich was served on. When I looked at it closely it looked to be some kind of product identifier stamp with foreign writing (Chinese?) as well. Why was this on the plate, and was it hygienic? I miss the days when CB didn't nickel and dime you for order customizations, and you could expect clean plates for your food. We love this place! We come here at least 3 times per week. The food and service is always great! The only problem we have is they never have decaf coffee. When the manager Ruben is there we never have a problem because he makes it for us. Today we talk to the general manager Laz Diaz and he said there should always be decaf coffee available. Laz was very professional and polite to us. He explained a lot of things to us. I was speechless at the customer services received at this location (Lakewood, Ca on Candlewood/Clark). I went to purchase a meal for a less fortunate individual by allowing him to place his order within the cafe. I was immediately stopped, explaining that the young man i was purchasing for could not be in the cafe. As I explained, "I am paying and would like for him to place his order for the food he wants". After finally having him place the order I was told by the cashier that he could not wait for his food. Hmmmm, "so how does he get it, should i wait for the food?". Again more of the energy was placed in the man placing the order who by the way had his mask on and was extremely polite, as he had to actually calm the situation down. Amazing customer service!!! I made two phone orders and decided to change on at the last minute. Lea was great in assisting me with changing the order, she had such a positive attitude! I visit Corner Bakery very often with my family. Many times I will get together with some friends or coworkers after work to catch up. It seems as though each time i visit this location the customer service gets worse. When ordering a dessert or a blended coffee drink, i seem to always be forgotten. This actually has happened every time i've been here. i have to walk up to the front counter more than twice for someone to remember to make my drink or remind someone about my pastry. I definitely feel that this place needs to step up their game and I feel that the customer service needs major improvement. What I do enjoy and like about this location is that I will see people reading a book or studying on their laptops. It's a place where one can slow down for a while and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. I will often see family of one employee come in and stay for quite a while. As for the food, it is always delicious. A few of my favorite things to order are the Uptown Turkey sandwich, Chicken Pomodori Panini, Broccoli and cheese soup, chopped salad with all romaine lettuce (usually it's a mixed salad) with the house dressing. On one occasion i ordered extra blue cheese crumbles and was charged extra but there was barely any on my salad. I went up and notified someone and she did apologize. I do feel that this place is a bit pricey for what i'm getting and with the customer service i've been experienced over the past years.
