Food was good. Had the pancakes and eggs with bacon. The eggs and bacon were both very good, as well as the pancakes. Service was quick, albeit I was the first and only one here this morning at the time. Restaurant is clean, which is to be expected for only opening less than a week ago. The picture on the menu is deceiving! I ordered the avocado & spinach flat. It was very small, the eggs were cold, barely any spinach or avocado, the cheese was not melted and the flat was cold and not toasted. I wouldn't recommend this place ever! A quick trip on the train from LA for the day...many delays so we chose Corner Bakery because of the distance from the train station. Short few blocks of a walk; He had the Pecan Berry salad, I had the meatball panini. Both great. The girl behind the counter was new so wasn't familiar with senior discounts, so she called her supervisor, DJ, for help. He gladly gave us our 10% discount...he was very cheerful, very pleasant. Decided to eat lunch at the Corner Bakery Cafe after walking around downtown during Comic Con season. Ordered the meatball panini and chicken carbonara. Food was excellent and prices were decent for a downtown location. Service was great as well. There was plenty of seats and will be coming back again during next stop in downtown SD. read more

Yikes! The dessert container is full of fruit flies! It's really disgusting. You can see them flying around all over the desserts. When I mentioned it to the cashier she didn't really care. I got the sandwich and salad combo which included the tuna sandwich and the mixed greens salad. I wanted to like corner bakery. I have fond memories of corner bakery from when I was in college. But this restaurant just isn't great. For example, I ordered pumpkin oatmeal this morning. It was served in a large plastic bowl, which meant it got cold faster. It was bland. And worst of all, I found bacon bits in my oatmeal. This was supposed to be a vegetarian dish. Still service is quick and pleasant. Portions are large, especially salads. But for the price, I just won't be here often. read more

Very nice quiet place. The seafood pasta is on point here and my go to meal. The service is fast and staff is professional. I once had a meal here and had a homeless person come inside and ask me for food and was told by a server he cant beg for food inside. The waiter was not rude and handled it well. I was impressed by the way the waiter handled the situation and thankful the waiter had intervened so I would not be bothered while I ate. Had a Two entry, which is a choose of soup,salad or 1/2 a sandwich or panini. Chose to go with the steak and cheese and chopped salad w/ side of avocado ranch. Price was great but food was just ok. Came here on a Saturday night and and it wasn't packed at all. We sat outside and had our choice of tables, since we were the only ones. The cashier was friendly and the lady that brought out our order was super sweet as well. We ordered the steak sandwich and the chicken panini with a cup of the tortilla soup. The panini and the soup were tasty, but the steak sandwich was definitely the star of the meal. Plenty of juicy steak on a delicious fresh roll, with lots of sauteed veggies mixed in. This is my third and last time I ever go to CB, had no problems the first time at all, but the second time I went, the cashier had no idea what she was doing or how to cancel an order due to their Credit card system was down. They after waiting for the manager to show up and scold the cashier for something that was beyond her control in front of myself and other customers, the "manager" then had an attitude with me when I politely asked to cancel my order due to the CC system not working. This last time I went, I went with a coworker and the cashier service could've been warmer if it came from a robot. This girl did not know how to approach or treat a customer, she was very snobby and kept a flirty attitude with the cooks. Look, I understand about workplace flirts, but there's no reason to act totally bipolar and a bit hostile toward the client, who's there to eat their food. As if that wasn't enough to put me off from ever eating there again, I ordered the cobb salad, the onions were rank, and the lettuce looked like it was put through a paper shredder as it resembled confetti more than anything. The only decent half descent thing I consumed was half a tomato soup. The meal didn't sit well with myself or my coworkers as all three of us got food-poisoning. So go here if you enjoy what feels like a rip-off of a lunch at regular downtown prices and bad service. I walked in here the other day and as soon as I opened the door 2 people greated me with big warm smiles and said WELCOME TO CORNER BAKERY! the manager Lisa is AMAZING!! she is such a doll and seriously one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered in the restaurant industry, she is always smiling. While the food is typical Downtown fare, avoid at all costs if you are on a lunch break. For a simple panini sandwich, it took me about 15 minutes to get my order. As for the price, I would have to say its on past the 10 dollar mark. While most of the food is below 10 dollars, we are talking like 8.99 on up. The dine in was good however two of us had the same order but the portion size was drastically different. The to go order was incorrect paid for bacon didn't get it and it was the whole purpose for the wait in a 15 min long line because they had 1 register open. Ate here two mornings in a row while visiting from out of town. First morning, since am doing Keto, ordered the bacon egg avacado spinach bowl and extra cheese. Arrived with MAYBE 1/4 avacado and sparse spinach. Asked for extra cheese twice. Second morning ordered the same thing... bowl came with no bacon, scant spinach avacado and cheese although I was charged extra. Corner bakery cafe is in busy shopping center and when we got there the wait line was long and what I noticed there was only one cashier on the station taking orders. I don't know if this place is always busy but obviously they did not have enough staff, we got a table but had to wait for the table to be cleaned , they were out of coffee until we were done with food. Horrible, horrible experience. I needed a refund on an item, stood there for literally 10 minutes while the other person in my party had to eat alone, finally walked away for a few minutes. The milk and half and half needed refilling, was told it would be refilled, waited 20 minutes for that while my coffee got cold I could see the girl behind the coffee bar who promised to refill it, leaning against a wall drinking her own drink and doing nothing. Meanwhile, the manager in charge hands me a receipt saying she refunded the card it was charged to... we paid cash. So basically what I had was a piece of paper with someone else's refund on it.
