Good not great Italian-themed trattoria, happy to see a new restaurant open on the Westside. Limited, somewhat eclectic menu, with a variety of pizzas and chicken dishes standing out. Did not notice any pastas, but not a big deal. Better than Maria's, but not at the level of, say, Felix. We went for DineLA and the eggplant parmigiane was pretty good, the salads were overdressed and the desserts were hit and miss. The tri-tip was pretty good, and the mushroom pizza was interesting, they used multiple cheeses which gave it a nice textured taste. Ambience was pretty, mostly outdoor seating, with a firepit nearby for people waiting for a table. Scene is a bit loud, with music roaring in, giving it a festive atmosphere, although maybe a little louder than we like. Service was spotty but friendly. Overall, a nice evening. A couple of things to bear in mind here. You can have a nice reasonably priced dinner, OR go all out and spend a lot, there are options for people with varied budgets. I did not like seeing a 4% extra charge on the bill for what seemed to be employee health insurance. We've seen this at a few restaurants, and frankly I don't like it. Bake it in to the whole bill. Also, the restaurant is located in a Santa Monica business park, so if you go inside, parking is not free. They do validate, but they are not careful with the time allotted, because we lingered for a few minutes and then got hit with a $5 parking fee on the way out. There is no staff on duty at night, so you have no choice but to pay to exit. There is some street parking nearby and we'll use in the future; even though this was just $5, it still rankles me, same as the 4% dinging on the bill. Just so you know.... read more

The four of us ordered appetizers, two pizzas, and sand dabs (for me). The appetizers were excellent and the pizza was very good. The sand dabs though were almost tasteless. We waited a long time before a waiter came to our table but after that service was fine. The ambiance is great although some of the tables are pretty close to a busy street. read more

I have been a few times now, and each time has been wonderful. The service is always friendly and prompt (bonus having a large parking lot). The drinks are delicious, and the food is amazing. As a lover of both Alimento and Cosa Buona, it's a treat having menu items that made the move westside to Cosetta. When my children have been with us, the staff has been super accommodating, and the environment was welcoming and friendly. The restaurant design is gorgeous (the bar!!), and the outside has enough space so that if you're with kids, you don't feel as though you're bothering anyone. The whole menu delicious, you can't go wrong. You'll have to go back a few times so you can try everything! read more

This is a nice quaint place in Santa Monica. My daughter and I went there for a leisurely business meeting. It was great because the noise level was low for us to hear one another. The ambiance was gorgeous. The weather was nice so we sat on the patio. Two of us ordered the Chicken Caesar pizza wrap with the calabrian chili crisp sauce (has some heat) but delicious and my daughter ordered the Sabich-ish (eggplant pizza wrap). The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I would definitely come back and I would recommend this place to family and friends. I normally take pictures of my food but I was having such a wonderful time talking and once the food came out we prayed and once I took a bite of my sandwich it was over lol, I devoured it. We came for a early Sunday dinner and had no idea what to expect. We give any new neighborhood restaurant a shot and are always hoping for something great--and the Sunset Park neighborhood is definitely on a roll lately, with several amazing spots to choose from now, including Cosetta! We loved everything we ordered: the radicchio Bloom salad, veggie supreme pizza (good greasy and yummy), chicken wings, and butter beans (which were recommended to us and totally hit the mark). The whole staff was on it from the host to the waiters to the manager--friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. It's hard to pick a favorite because everything was that good--and they've only been open five days! We'll definitely be regulars :)) read more

Visited on the first Sunday they were open and had a lovely meal. Italian dumpling salad, BUTTER BEANS, Caesar salad, sand dabs and a Margherita pizza. We loved all the food, though maybe not my favorite iteration of a Caesar. Service was good - everyone in the dining room was pleasant and seemed happy to be doing what they were doing, whether it was waiting tables or bussing tables. I like the renovation though we were only inside on a banquette so didn't experience it all. Very good vibes. We showed up around 7 PM on a Thursday night for a bite to eat at the bar and were seated quickly. The food came promptly as we ordered it so I recommend taking your time while ordering. IMO: The food came out a little too quickly for our liking. The bartenders were super attentive and on it. Went with a group of 4 friends, we ordered the smoked mozz sticks, Caesar salad, Italian dumpling salad, Hawaiian supreme pizza & the Peparazzi pizza. The chicken Milanese wasn't my favorite, the fish sauce and vinegar were so strong I couldn't finish it. Made reservations for 6 people at 4pm on a Sunday. It was not very busy but definitely by 6:30 it filled up. Super cute ambiance and friendly, attentive service. Our server, Jon, was awesome! Super helpful with describing how to best order and provided helpful recommendations. We had the: shrimp scampi, bluefin tuna, Caesar salad, two pizzas, fried fish, and side of potato's. Everything was delicious! Probably least impressive was the pizza, but that was still super tasty. And we got the donut ice cream sandwich and the almond cake for dessert. Both yummy! They even put a candle in it for a birthday. We had some wine and beer but didn't try the cocktails. We shared everything and it came out to about $375- $60ish per person which is really not bad for the quality of food, tastiness, and excellent ingredients! Love that it is not in the business of 3rd st in Santa Monica. Not much else in the area, super quiet, just office buildings around. Parking is validated for two hours. There were some gnats around at the start but by the middle of the meal they were gone. read more

Yet they seem to think that they are a high end upscale place, based on their $45 corkage fee, and their attitude that they know better than you do as to what you might want to eat and drink. This place is like the best restaurant in Phoenix. The food's really good but the service is disorganized. Cocktails took way too long to reach the table, despite the fact that there seemed to be 5 or 6 people working behind the bar. One of our servers (the "sommelier" maybe) seemed annoyed when he brought the wine to our table and we let him know we were still waiting for the cocktails we ordered. The main course was delivered before the pizza, etc. The ambiance is fine, but it's too easy to see that this was once an El Cholo, so there's that. Won't rush back here, which is too bad because it's good eatin' but for the price, they need to be less behind the eight ball with their service. read more

I was super excited to hear this place opened up on the Westside as a former mega fan of Cosa Buona. Food was good, parking was easy, and location is in a low-key area. Staff was friendly and approachable. That being said, we waited 30 minutes for a table with a reservation and overall had limited service attention. Place was slammed. Staff clearly doing their best. Maybe too many reservations or in need of a better POS?! Recommend going at a non-peak time (we were there on a Tuesday night, avoid weekends if you can). Even the "little things" are magical: the house-made chili crisp with just the right kick, the ranch made with labne that's perfect for dipping crusts, the servers who actually seem excited to talk about pizza. It all adds up to an experience that feels curated with love. Bottom line: Cosetta is the kind of place you almost don't want to tell people about, because you secretly want to keep it all to yourself. I didn't think I would need a reservation to stop in for an early-ish (6 PM) dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening. I checked ahead and there were plenty of reservation times available on their booking page. But when we arrived, they seemed surprised we didn't have a reservation and the only availability was at the bar. It was still great and we got plenty of service from the various bar staff. We got the Ceaser salad and the biancoverde pizza to share. They were able to reduce the garlic on the pizza some but the salad was still incredibly garlicky (and delicious)! In my honest opinion the food did not live up to the reviews. The menu is very limited with pizza making up the majority of the menu. The pizza was decent but not my favorite. Unfortunately, the chicken milanesi was a disappointment. Paired with a lot of tomatoes and a very acidic juice/sauce. What was good, and the best part of the meal was the fava bean humus. The ambiance was nice but for me that is less important than the food. I truly hope I am an outlier. read more

We came on a busy Sunday evening and were able to be seated within 15 minutes. I had seen the restaurant in advance of it opening in the neighborhood. The space, the service and the staff were all excellent and well trained. My wife and I split the chopped salad and the supreme pizza. Both were excellent. My daughter enjoyed her Caesar Salad as well. The food and the experience far surpassed our experiences at Ghisallo, also in the neighborhood. We will definitely return. read more

Cossetta serves delicious Italian food in a fun, lively setting. The free validated parking is a great perk, and the drink selection--alcoholic and nonalcoholic--is well-rounded. Unfortunately, the hard seating and strict time limit, even with a reservation, made the experience feel rushed.
