I come here a lot to get food on my way home from work. Never had this problem. But today standards are missing. So idk if the workers don't care and that's why it's bad or just lazy and they are taking short cuts. Food is dry and doesn't taste as good as it usually does. I have been to most Costa Vida locations in the valley and this one is consistent with my experiences at the others. The food is fresh, the restaurant clean, the employees are friendly and the service is fast and good. I love the driver through option. I usually get the sweet pork meat in tacos, enchiladas, burrito or salad depending on what I feel like. I used to like cafe Rio over Costa Vida, but now it's the other way around. The Rio place is horrendous now and I avoid it at all costs. This is now out go to and I love this new location being the closest one to home. read more

This was my own fault. I freely admit it. I knew damn well that straying from salads is a colossal mistake and I did it anyway. I watched them put the dried out strips of chicken on the bed of tiny, thin tortilla chips, then layer that with shredded cheese and with beans so runny, they looked more like another sauce than actual beans. This was covered with the raspberry chipotle sauce (the one bit of grace in this whole sordid affair), then queso sauce, then a little bit of the tomatillo ranch, just one sauce after another, then more tortillas, a few jalapenos and more shredded cheese. The final bit was the guy flinging the sour cream after it had melted (melded) these chips and a whole lot of sauces together and it was mine, this glorious, trashy, soggy, sloppy, soupy and not very good mess. I knew better. On the plus, the place was decently clean and does have Coke Zero on tap. Staff is a bit distant but mostly pleasant. Like all the other restaurants in this area, it is a little bit of a pain to get to, but not as painful as if you don't order the one thing that the odds are better of them doing competently. read more

We've been here twice, at two different locations. Costa Vida is a chain of Mexican restaurants. It is a counter-service restaurant that offers extremely fresh ingredients. Essentially you you choose your entree style, I.e. Burritos, Enchiladas, Tacos, etc, and choose your meat, type of beans, and your meal is assembled while you shuffle along the line. I was especially fond of their "Mexican Street Tacos", consisting of carnitas (roasted pork deliciousness that reminds me of my Gramma B's pork roast from childhood), queso fresco, onions and cilantro. The street tacos were advertised as only available for a limited time but I hope it becomes a permanent menu item. I personally would have added sliced avocado, but I still was happy with them. Their queso dip is average, which doesn't mean bad; order it if you like chips and queso! I would order the queso dip again. I have Celiacs and was told that nothing other than corn tortillas were fried in the chip fryer, so I had no problem getting a completely gluten free meal. Costa Vida is a copy cat of a restaurant chain with the initials Cafe Rio. I always say that if you're going to copy something make sure it's good. Well I've never actually said that but it seems applicable here. How can you go wrong emulating something great if you copy it well? That's Costa Vida! Everything's fresh and prepared custom for each order, right in front of you. There's usually not much of a line but don't be intimidated if there is because it moves quickly. Open seating so just get in line and have faith there will be a table open when your food is done because there always is. In the warmer months there's outside seating as well. I come here a lot because it's fast, easy and it tastes good. The lines are soooo long at times but they tend to move pretty fast. The service needs little work if you ask me. They tend to move your through like herding cattle, not really paying close attention to you as the customer. Sometimes they are so used to putting certain things on your salad, and they anticipate you wanting something when you really don't. "Black or pinto beans?" And he's already holding the black beans and ready to poor it on when to his surprise I want pinto. It's funny sometimes I throw them off with my choices. At the end of the day their pork salad is good. The pork is marinated in something special. Always pay extra to get the guacamole, it's worth it. I would give it a 3 1/2 stars if there was an option. read more

Yet another competitor to Chipotle who differentiate themselves with a way more extensive menu as well as fresh made tortillas. Kudos for the fresh made tortillas that they use to wrap their burritos in - reminded me of the places in San Diego that all do this and which give the burritos a slightly smoker taste and overall different texture. The place was packed and it's a fairly large place as also mentioned by other reviewers the line was fairly slow,it's very loud and parking was tough. I imagine that the reason for the slow line movement is just strictly due to the variety of not only meals you can order but also the customization of each. When I did finally get able to order, they did get my food to me quickly - and sadly, one of the reasons I really didn't enjoy the experience as much in that the people working there were working their tails off, sweating and just throwing the food together, putting it thru a little oven like a grinder sandwich and then throwing it into a aluminum tray. It just gave me a fast food vibe. Again and as mentioned in my other burrito reviews, I'm a burrito snob/aficionado/purist - or simply just pretentious- and all that really matters most is the taste. With that initial experience, I have to say I was a little surprised in that the burrito was pretty good. Plenty of chicken, nice seasoning, some good sauces, crisp & fresh romain and a choice of either black or refried beans. As per usual, I opted for the black beans. Would I come here again? Yes and no. Yes if I was staying again in the hotel across the street and no if otherwise - and in such an event would seek something a little more authentic and quieter. read more

We love Costa Vida but this location needs more attentive people running the drive through window. They constantly mess up the orders and charge you for the extras. We ordered extra meat, a side of house dressing, guac and pico and go figure for the 5th time the order isn't right. They are always laughing and giggling at the window and not paying attention. We finally had enough of being charged for all the extras and not receiving them so we called the manger on duty. The female manger on duty could have cared less so that was a waste of time. Dude! To hell with this place@ cant even get some dam sour cream people behind the table know as little as to.ehats up as me the first time customer. First and last I'll never go back. People trying to push me through to get to the next customer. When I ask for sour cream on 3 of my dishes o want sour cream. And when you tell me the sauce is hot I should have it on the side , pretty sure ketchup beats it in a hot contest, I expect to get it on the side. Another win for Costa Vida! They are slowing becoming our new favorite! Cafe Rio is great, don't get me wrong. But there isn't one close! This was our first time eating at this location and it was as tasty as ever. I have an absurd addiction to the sweet pork enchiladas. When you are watching them make them you think to yourself "Oh boy, those are pretty small". Then I find myself barely finishing. It's a nice, spacious facility with a lot of seating. This place is delicious! I am a die hard Cafe Rio fan and I found this place to be very comparable, a tie in my book. I got the pork salad with all the fixings, my Rio usual, BUT, I got the small. I loved that they have a small option, usually I leave Cafe Rio with leftovers or a hernia from trying to down all of my delicious food. I like that they have the smaller option so, if you're like me, a helpless member of the clean plate club, you don't have to go all out with a huge meal and still be MORE than satisfied. We love this place. The rice is so yummy. They have it perfected. And my kids love the kids meals that come with the cinnamon tortilla. For me I get the salad. You can't go wrong with the pork salad. I ordered online. Pick up time was 15 minutes later. I walked into the store at the appointed time and waited 45 minutes. 45 minutes. For my online order of two dishes. Three kids working there were polite and tried to be helpful. One older person, I assumed wrongly perhaps, was curt and blamed me for the late order. This is my favorite fast/fresh food restaurant and definitely my favorite Coast Vida restaurant. Currently they are offering their street tacos for a little over a $1 each. They are the best street tacos I've ever had. The staff was very friendly and gave me salsa suggestions and samples to try. They exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to drive 30+ miles to return. Usually I really like Costa Vida but I ordered take out from this location on Friday evening and it was a mess. I ordered two salads, one pork and one beef. The salads had water on the bottom like as though the lettuce was still wet. We ordered creamy tomatillo dressing for both salads and a side of the vinaigrette but got 4 containers of just the vinaigrette, which still seemed to taste strange. My son ordered a taco kids meal and that was about the only thing that seemed to be correct. read more

Don't waste your time. I'm from Colorado and we have Costa Vida and is 500 x's better than this one. The food looked terrible, the workers seemed annoyed that more people came in and they had to "work". We asked for steak... no steak... pork? No pork... shrimp? "That takes too long...but there's chicken" that was more like jerky! Finally annoyed by the lack of choices we were given, we decided to go somewhere else. I knew there was a reason I take my business to Café Rio over Costa Vida. I came here on my lunch break today, around 1:15pm to my surprise there was no line, and I was able to walk right up to the counter. After the two employees finished their conversation, I was then greeted and asked what I would like to order. I ordered a chicken Baja bowl, nothing fancy, and it took about 5 minutes for the other employee down the line, to finish her conversation with the cashier to grab my bowl and ask me if I would like anything extra on it, which I did. I said "sour cream" about seven different times and she kept saying "jalapenos?" "jalapenos?"...their customer service isn't the greatest. Their food was fresh and hot, which I enjoyed but I won't be returning to this location, that's for sure. read more

Very disappointing! Ordered the grill steak burrito with extra cheese. 1st let me say the steak could of cooked a lil longer and the fact that this huge burrito only had literally 6 pieces of steak in it was just stingy. It was more like a bean and rice burrito. And the fact that I paid extra 4 cheese and had absolutely none on the inside of my burrito was another disappointment. There was a little cheese melted on top of the burrito but thats it. Now im thinking, if a person orders extra cheese common sense would b to put it on the inside. Additionally, the taste and lack of onions and cilantro and salsa just proves that its definitely not authentic Mexican food. Will not order from here ever again! read more

I guess before coming here through the drive thur should have read reviews. They mess up your orders through the drive thur and they did for sure mine. I ordered sweet pork salad got chicken one. Also asked for wheat tortilla they were out of those. The kid who was on the drive thur seemed snotty and didn't even say sorry they were out of wheat tortillas just were out. Also the salad seemed smaller then usual compare to other locations I've been and cafe rio. My tortilla was also super thin less then paper thin which is not how I like a tortilla. All around super disappointing I would have just rather gone to cafe rio which is closer to my house. read more
