Employees at this location are friendly and engage with customers. Area is clean. Early morning is best time to avoid crowds.

The Day I (and $350 worth of groceries) was held Hostage at Costco 8/09/25: I first went to this store shortly after it opened (six or seven years ago?) and it was a relatively smooth process of getting in and out. More parking and less drama than other area locations. As Elk Grove's population exploded during the pandemic, the crowds got bigger and it was more challenging navigating the store. Unfortunately, after sensing the store and its environment were getting out of control, I went so far this year to get a membership at Sam's Club, which I liked but found it too far away and less consistent in its offerings than Costco. As someone who cooks dinner 3-4 nights a week for my family, I need reliable protein, vegetables, fruit, cheese, etc. and Costco delivers the quality, variety, and price points that I'm looking for. My recent choice has been to go once a month for a big shopping trip to restock. It seemed to be working, until it didn't yesterday. I got there at about 4:00 pm on a Saturday. Not a great time, but lately it's been so packed it's never a good time. Parking lot wasn't totally filled, so it seemed a good sign. Inside, the store was packed but the chaos seemed under control. That changed in my checkout process. First, a package of blueberries popped open and they flew everywhere. It happens. The cart handler who held the box went to get another one and another employee and the checker picked up the errant berries. I helped and got some out of the cart. The checkout process complete, I paid for my groceries. The checker did an item count and handed me my receipt but seemed panicked that the number of items didn't add up. That was all I was told. They took back my receipt and frantically began recounting my groceries. Mind you, no high ticket items- just groceries, and a couple of pharmacy items. What unfolded over the next 20 minutes grew more and more bizarre. The checker and the assistant kept frantically recounting the grocery items, moving my cart to the food court. I sat down after a while as I'd been on my feet for hours shopping at several places on a triple digit day, and the air conditioning was operating at a low capacity in the front of the store. I suggested that they move the groceries to another cart as they were flinging my previously neatly arranged groceries all over and seemed increasingly agitated. They apologized several times, sincerely. Then there was the argument about whether the blueberries were the issue. Or the toilet paper and napkins on the bottom Of the cart. Or bizarrely, my food court items. Fifteen minutes later, after the cart was moved to the coffee grinder station and the groceries were transferred to another cart for a fifth or sixth recount. I was called over. The cashier apologized. She said the Danish I had bought was the issue as she thought it was a two pack for $11.99 (the round kind you have to get as a two pack) vs. the two cherry Danish I bought. There was a special this weekend, one Danish for $5.99 so I bought two- one for my uncle and one for our family. The entire issue that put me and my paid for groceries under a hostage situation at Costco was a 1 cent differential, and a two pack versus TWO individual danishes. I was not happy when a supervisor was called over and asked me to run my credit card again to void the Danish two pack I had originally been charged for and then charged me for the two danishes at $5.99 each. Her flippant attitude was the last straw. "Sorry, Boss," she said a few times. I said "Don't call me boss, and this took at least twenty minutes of time for a one cent difference. This is the worst example I've ever seen of customer service in my life, and it is going to be a long time before I come back here." Clearly, the management is lacking here. New employees (which I believe these were) don't have enough support or training, and there must be write ups for cashiers who have inaccurate counts. However, in this short sightedness, a loyal customer of 20 years was treated like garbage, and her perishable groceries were not able to be brought home quickly after a long day of shopping. I was exhausted and angry that I was treated this way. I also some medical issues that affect my energy, and topping my shopping day with this train wreck was very stressful to my system, though I tried to not let the situation overwhelm me, it did. It would have been quicker to give me a refund and start from scratch. I will be checking out other Costco locations and this is the last time I shop at this store unless the manager chooses to address what happened and ensures other customers never have to experience this situation.

I'd say we only came here for that AMAZING BLISSFUL warm cookie but we were also here for the meats. And if you haven't had the burnt ends or tried some the pulled pork - please do. Lots of meat in that pulled pork- we usually can make multiple meals from one bag.

Great quality, large selection, cheaper than grocery stores, excellent customer service

First time at Costco...now I see what the hype is about!

For the past couple of years my intrigue surrounding Costco has intensified. Ranging from conversations about an auto incentive received for purchasing a car, to a delicious bottle of red wine that was featured, it seems like Costco is usually the gem of many good deals. I even found myself watching a CNBC Money feature on a woman located in Fremont who furnished her entire living space and bought everything from eyeglasses to clothing from her local Costco. Regardless of the source, it seems like everyone has a story about something that they purchased from Costco. Therefore, I was excited like a kid going back to school shopping, when my wife suggested that we check out the Costco down the street from our home. Upon entering the store, we were greeted by fairly large signs advertising discount prices for featured items such as Bowers & Wilkins Noise-Canceling Wireless Headphones (I almost bought a pair before realizing that I truly do not need them - I hear that this is something that Costco regulars often struggle with). Since our trip was solely for checking out their food items, we headed straight to those respective areas. Although the store was fairly busy for a Monday afternoon, the other fellow customers were generally polite and considerate about sharing space with others. Since I am not a cook, it was delightful to see the many semi-healthy precooked food options available. Since we did not purchase alcohol (although I will be back to purchase their value size bottle of tequila), we were able to expedite the checkout process by using a self-checkout kiosk. I definitely look forward to utilizing our membership to purchase home furnishings, food, and gas (I'm not 100% sold on purchasing clothes from here though). Thank you EG Costco!

Costco is a one stop shop for the best bulk prices. Beware the reception in this warehouse is terrible. I was attempting to text my friend some pictures of items I was getting for our event but the images never went through. You can order flowers and muffins in advance at this location. Pro tip: park on the side of the warehouse by the tire center it is easier to get out.

I love this Costco they always have everything well stocked and always have new items to try. The parking lot is huge so you'll always find parking. The team there is always nice and I've never had an issue.

Came here for two bags of ice, which is dirt cheap compared to supermarkets. But of course, I left with $200 worth of items; I'm sure everyone reading this review agrees that's the norm‍. No issues from the start (scanning membership cards). Clean, empty, smooth rolling carts (unlike local supermarkets) and clean, empty trash/recyclable/compostable bins. Just wish the members would have their cards out Beforehand and not pull it out the last minute (creates a herd of members waiting impatiently). Storefront always clean and debris-free (unless a member decides for throw their trash on the floor even though there's a receptacle a foot away). Came away with some Holiday deals; I'm know there's more to come on Black Friday, but you'll always get a deal here anytime of the year! Finally got my hands on the most talked about frozen item...thin sliced Choice Chuck Roll for hot pots and Shabu entrees. $12.99 lb; that's $2 less that the Korean supermarket KP, and here you know the meat is of good quality and not too fatty. Also bought items for the Holidays to feast on; way cheaper than Trader Joe's, Nugget or Whole Foods. Everything is fresh, from the Meat Department to the Deli to the Bakery. You will NEVER find an item to be sold that expires the same day. Safeway and Raleys, yes. Here, not their way of operating. Quality just can't be beat, nor pricing per oz. or per unit. Self check was a breeze, no issues...2 attendants were patient and active in getting the transaction moving. Overall, a great shopping experience (always good to go when the doors start rolling up; member count usually peaks between 11-1. Membership may seem expensive, but guaranteed the savings inside will pay for itself...as well as filling up at the pump! So if you're not a member, what are you waiting for, Christmas? Umm, you only have 7 weeks if you are.

Christmas is already here at Costco! Great to plan ahead for decorations and gifts like the arcade consoles. Always great service, quality and cost.

Lines have calmed quite a bit. Prices are the best in the area. They've recently added more pumps. 5% cash back makes fueling up here a no brainer. Happy we have a hybrid to make fueling up a comparatively infrequent event. We have a very thirsty rv and it always fills up at a Costco gas station. Off peak mid days are the best option to beat the crowds.

The berries looked beautiful -- fresh, bright, and exactly what you want when you're making something special and don't want to risk disappointing fruit. The pugliese bread is my favorite as it is soft, fluffy, and taste delicious! The sourdough is also yummy and has a light airy consistency.  The sandwiches are made with the fresh baked bread and are delicious! Even though the store opens at 6am, the bread is not ready until 8-9am, therefore it is best to order a sandwich a couple hours after the store opens for the optimum selection of bread. I once made the mistake of ordering a sandwich at 7am and was only presented with two bread options: sliced bread or focaccia. I selected the focaccia and although the bread was tasty, it made for a very soft and ultimately soggy sandwich.  There is a large prepared/hot food section that is self-serve. On one occasion while I was selecting a soup to purchase I witnessed an employee wiping up the spilled food from the counter and putting it back into the large food tray. It was absolutely nauseating and I immediately questioned if I should even purchase the soup given the lack of proper food cleanup/handling.  The grocery items cost much more than other grocery stores for the same exact item. Nugget seems to carry a variety of high-quality ingredients and typical well-known brands. The cost of produce and meat is much higher than other grocery stores, although the meat is typically sourced from local farms.  During Thanksgiving Nugget carries a large selection of high quality turkeys. There are a few turkeys that are sourced from local farms that are advertised as natural, antibiotic free, and free range. When purchasing a Turkey for Thanksgiving it is always advised to call and preorder as the high quality turkeys sell out fast.
