Love Costco, great products, great returns, less busy than Carmel mountain, plus they have gas.

A-MA-ZING food samples! The only downfall is that I then buy way more food than I need! :)

The cleanest, least busy Costco in the area. Great selection of items not carried at some of the other Costcos. Plus there's a carwash!

Every time I come here the associates are friendly and they are fully stocked on the items I came in for.

one of the best costcos in san diego, its fairly peaceful here. the gas station here has the cheapest prices vs all the other costcos the car wash here is the only one in the US for costco. and is pretty good for the money. the self check out is wonderful for people who buy just a few items and dont want to wait in the crazy lines. this is going to be the same thing im going to say for all costcos. come on people dont fight for samples, its just a sample. some people act like they never ate food before and its not just for them its for their whole family. seeing so many hands snatching food from the trays its pretty funny. what i hate most is dumb people who leave their carts blocking the walk area. its like seriously do you really have to ditch your cart in the middle and walk away to grab what you need. and come back all mad when people have to move your cart for you to the side. or get pissed off at rude people who hit your cart because you were dumb enough to block the follow of traffic. read more

In my opinion this is by far and away the best Costco in San Diego! I say this because the staff here are always willing to go out of their way to help you, and make sure that you find and get what you need. I have bought everything from my bedroom furniture to food for party's and dinners. To top that off this place everything you could ever need, and the food court is pretty darn good for a quick snack. read more

The Costco in Poway is my favorite Costco in San Diego. It has a gas station (some of the cheapest gas in SD), carwash, food court, tons of parking and it's always clean. It is not freeway friendly about 5 miles or so from the 15 freeway and a few miles from the 67. read more

Costco has the best return policy; about 5 years ago I purchased an air conditioner from Costco.com. The unit worked for a while but could never get the whole room cooled down. For some reason that particular model didn't work very well. Well, recently I started to look for another air conditioner and found a great deal through Costco. I decided to call up customer service to see if I could return the unit I bought years ago. I was thrilled when they refunded me half the value of what I originally paid. It worked out because I applied that money into two newer units. That goes to show you can retain your customer with great service. read more

I have been to at least 15 Costcos, from Reno Nevada, to Sacramento, to Los Angeles, to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. I found east parking and short lines at this Costco. They also had lots and lots of free samples. read more

Costco itself is 5 star amazingness, so this review is in relation to THIS location. Not too crowded compared to Carmel Mountain. Kind of smaller, but lack of crazy gas lines and the car wash totally make up for that. I like coming here to this location. Park on the last row of the Home Depot lot for quick and close parking. read more

This is one of the nicest Costco stores I have been to. Very large with a great selection of everything, The foor sample people were very friendly with a nice variety of thing to try and buy. The best times to visit seen to be on weekdays before or after lunch. Pleanty of parking and the linew move fast. read more

We were here yesrerday late in the evening and our cashier Nan R treated us as well as if we were her fisrt customer of the day. She smiled, asking if we found everyeverything we were looking for. (Like most people at Costco purchased lots of things we didnt go there for) :) She just had a happy attitude that showed she really enjoys her employment. Pros: This Costco is the least crowded one I've ever been to and the lines were pretty short. Gas here is cheap too. Cons: Not a lot of samples (I like trying and buying Costco things). This location is in the middle of nowhere. Prices and the store itself is pretty typical as part of a chain. read more

To me, this Costco is amazing! If you have ever been to the Costco in Marina Del Rey, CA ; which used to be my closest Costco you would know what I mean. That place is a serious zoo, with arguments in the parking lot, lines out the door and just mobs of people all the time! We moved to San Diego over the summer and I found this Costco within the first couple months. What an amazing difference. I can always find parking relatively close, there is plenty of space to move around in the aisles, plenty of quality and organic merchandise, getting gas is a breeze, propane - awesome - and I can even get a car wash for $8! Total win win in my world. Love it. read more

I personally prefer the layout of the Camel Mountain location but overall I enjoy my Costco experience at this location. The employees seem friendlier at this location and the gas line moves quicker (I believe they have more pumps). With the added benefit of an available car wash I try to shop this location more frequently. read more

Can't get this place to answer a call. Member services and administrative staff options on the phone are NOT staffed. Why the drama of having an option available so members are led to believe that someone will actually answer when it just things and goes back to the main options? Members are expected to drive to the store to get any questions answered. read more

Best car wash in town they use RainX in the rinse and your wheels come out super clean. Customer service is always beyond the best. Gas up, get your propane tanks filled for $8, wash your car, eat and shop. Another bonus Home Depot is next to Costco. read more

After having worked for Costco for many years, I am very familiar with their standards of member service. Yesterday after a long day at Rady Children's Hospital and in an effort by our doctor at home, we were trying to get some medication. Our doctor called it in to the Poway Costco. We entered this Costco, which was very clean and tidy and well organized and headed over to the pharmacy. The cashier checked us in, making sure they had gotten the prescription call and had us fill out the necessary form. She was very friendly. After a few minutes of waiting, we were called to the window only to be told that they did not have the medication and we would have to wait until tomorrow. When I explained, that we were from out of town and our doctor wanted us to get this medication for our son as soon as possible and asked if there was another pharmacy nearby that might be able to fill it, we were told we would have to go there and have the other pharmacy call them for the prescription. We were also told we would have to hurry because they closed in 25 minutes. Um HELLO! DID YOU NOT HEAR ME, I AM NOT FROM HERE, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE ANOTHER PHARMACY IS! Thankfully, before I had to get upset the pharmicist stepped in and said she would call a few nearby locations to help us out. She found another pharmacy, transferred the rx and told us the other pharmacy would have it ready for us within an hour! This is what Costco member service is all about. These are the people that made working their fun and enjoyable and what keeps me renewing my membership. read more

Umm.. who doesn't love Costco!? I have to say, this location trumps the Carmel Mountain location as it is less busy. Although it can get busy on weekends here, it's never as busy as Carmel Mtn and it's always easy to find parking at this location. Gas is oh so cheap but expect these lines to be long. Food court is efficient especially ordering ahead for whole pizzas. read more

This is about the Costco Vision Center. My husband brought a prescription there for new eyeglasses (lenses and frames). The people in that dept. had no clue about how to measure the glasses and mark the lenses so the prescription could be filled. They tried twice and got it wrong. They do not sit across from you as in an optometrist's office. They haphazardly measure from a standing position, and it turns out wrong. We finally had to go back to the optometrist's office (not Costco's) and get them to mark the lenses and take them to Costco for the glasses to be made correctly. Alan, the manager, doesn't seem to know what he is doing. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO SKILLS WHATSOEVER for any of the staff we discussed this issue with. The same thing happened to me in La Mesa, where Alan had previously worked, so he said. All this took at least a month and meanwhile couldn't see well through old glasses. Never again! read more

My experience was the worst place to rotate and rebalance tires of my car. They broke the lock nut of my car without responsible and blamed that was "wear and tear", what was wrong with these service men? Then my car got it fixed and I paid $102 because of their wrong doing and they didn't want to pay for it. They are very bad experience and irresponsible for wrong doing. I will never buy tires at Costco anymore. read more

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review about Costco! We have been faithful customers for years and years. Today I had a bad experience with customer service and it has made me think back upon the past few years and how badly their customer service has declined. I was walking with my 3 year old son when behind us a man who worked for Costco bumped into my sons leg with one of the flat bed push carts piled up to about the workers chest level with returned products. After checking that my son was fine I immediately turn around and apologize because that's the kind of person I am, always saying sorry even when things aren't my fault with a smile on my face. This man not did not apologize and he gave me the meanest most dirty look anyone has ever given me. It was horrible. And he was staring me down. I could maybe understand him being upset IF we ran straight into him but let us look at the details of the situation. This was a busy Saturday morning and he is the employee (I am the customer) with not 1 but 2 large flat bed push carts, one he was pushing and one he was pulling, both stacked high, and he came up behind us and to the right. We had no idea he was coming. I had my hand on my sons shoulder guiding him. My son wasn't running through aisles. A female employee who saw it go down apologized and asked if we were ok but he did not. I walked on stunned by the look I received from this man. My husband said he had watched it go down from the check out lanes and he asked me what I said to the man because he thought I had cussed him out based on the dirty look the employee gave me even as I walked away!!! I only said 'oh I'm so sorry' initially and then proceeded to say ,'you shouldn't be giving me such a dirty look'. Those were the only words I spoke to him. Never a cuss word or an undeserved word. Employees at Costco over the past few years have increasingly become impatient and unkind. Especially at check out I have found. There are some that are absolutely wonderful but for the most part I feel rushed and as if they would rather be anywhere but there. I clean teeth for a living. I scrape crap off people's teeth and I do it with the biggest damn smile possible and am happy to be getting a paycheck and guess what I don't get ANY benefits. Costco has great pay and great benefits and the some of these people act as if they are so upset to be doing their job. Shame on you Costco for letting customer service decline. Hire happier people please. I should have complained in store but I was just taken back by the situation. read more

So I was just turned away from the door bc I had my dog with me. Kelly asked was my dog with me bc if a disability I said yes. She then calls her manager to come to the door. She asked was my dog trained. Your not supposed to even ask that. There is no requirement for any service dog to be trained. Tony the come and asks me if my dog is for my disability I said yes. He then asked what was my dog trained in I said "for my emotional supposed and your not even supposed to ask that bc then it tells you what my disability is" he then says "yes well there is 2 questions we ask" and the question you just asked gives you my disability. I'm purely embarrassed! The as I walk off I hear him mumble something to Kelly. I wanted to turn around but didn't want to cause an argument. HOW F'N embarrassing. I'm sure they don't stop everybody. And Kelly if you wanted my dog on the ground that's all you had to say!! It's not like I had her bare ass on the basket! read more

Wanted to give a HUGE shout out for Melissa the manager at the Poway Costco! I purchased a tv in late July and then in August it went on sale via the Costco website; BUT to get the lower price the website wanted to make me send in the old tv then order the new (same exact tv) in order to get the reduced price. After several long and very frustrated calls I'd given up and thought I'd just ask at the warehouse if this was standard policy. I was direct to Melissa and after I told her my tale of woe Melissa was as dumbfounded as I was and immediately asked her leadership at the store "how they could make this right". It took a few minutes but Melissa and her boss got the equivalent of the new lower price for me without having to return the tv! As we talked to pass the time on how to do the refund correctly she shared some tips on how to get the best value by shopping at the store; what service! I've ALWAYS liked the Poway store because the clientele was friendly and workers more helpful; after Melissa's efforts I'm ALWAYS going to go there FIRST! read more
