I think there could have been a bit more seasoning in the tartar especially being that the crispy chip didn't have flavor. Maybe one or the other! It was great that they asked for feedback at the end of our meal cuz they wanted to get it right for their 2 months of Miami spice. I'm going to say this is a 3.5 rounded to a 4. For context, I'm coming at this review as a Korean who's dined at many KBBQ spots in both Korea and Koreatown, LA (where I'd argue has the best KBBQ scene in the world). I've also tried Cote in NYC. First off, the vibes are definitely very Miami but in a good way imo - dark and moody ambiance, bumping music, and neon signage. I liked the entranceway and the bar inside as well. Service was pretty good - nothing good or bad to say about it. They were nice and grilled the meats nicely, but not as superb as I would expect compared to other Michelins I've visited in the past. The food at Cote is also solid. Of course, the meat quality is going to be 10/10. However, some of the banchan and sides paled in comparison to the average Korean restaurant I've been to. Delighted with the experience I had at COTE. Absolutely no complaints/suggestions about this place and here's why.. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by a friendly hostess who made great small talk as she guided us inside. Small detail, but it set the tone for what was an exceptional night. Our server greeted us right away and took the time to walk us through the menu thoroughly. We ordered the Butcher's Feast and the Paella, which turned out to be a lot more food than we expected. The meats were juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly. Our server explained each cut. The sides that came with the feast, like the egg soufflé and soups, were also delicious. The absolute star of the show is the Kimchi Wagyu Paella. You can come here just for that and be completely satisfied. As expected, the food was amazing, but what stood out the most to me was the service. I paid close attention to how they operated, and the attention to detail was flawless. There wasn't a moment where more than 2-3 minutes passed without someone checking on our water, plates, or the grill. As soon as we mentioned we were finished, three staff members came within a minute. One took the food we wanted to take home, one cleared out what we didn't want, and one cleaned the table. There's a couple of scenes in Season 1 of "Pachinko" where they make a big fuss about the white rice that comes from Korea. The grandma character says, it tastes "nuttier" and it's "chewier" than the variety found in Japan. I'm not sure where Cote gets its rice, but it's quite good for being possibly the most humble component at this haute steakhouse richly inspired by the Korean bbq tradition. The sentiment behind each dish and the care with which servers deliver each course reflect a similar thoughtfulness captured in the TV series. I've been to Cote a few times in the past couple of years, and it is always consistent. The Butcher's Feast is a good deal with its accompanying banchan. It's plenty of food for three people, especially when paired with said rice. The standouts are the marinated kalbi, the hanger steak and the rib eye. We selected a decently priced Malbec to go with the meal, and it was so good we ordered a second bottle. I enjoyed putting the grilled beef on a leaf of lettuce, adding a bit of kimchi from the banchan and topping it with the nutty sauce that comes with it. I learned this from my Korean friends in New York, and it's like a healthy wrap to temper the richness of the meal. To top us off, the banchan also included a nice egg dish that's a cross between a souffle and a soft scramble. Since we're all into having more protein nowadays, it's a welcomed addition. The decor is gorgeous. Black banquettes provide a cozy privacy so your friends can dish the dirt about the week's happenings without neighbors overhearing too much. The sexy entrance is futuristic and feels more like it belongs to one of the nearby, high-end boutiques than a Korean eatery. This is a special occasion place that is worth the splurge every time. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a high-end experience, but COTE fell short in almost every category. Our party of three opted for the Butcher's Feast, and at over $400, the quality and service were simply not there. Many of the meat cuts were excessively fatty and essentially inedible, leaving us to leave a significant portion of the meal untouched. The sides were equally disappointing--the best thing we were served was white rice, and it wasn't even fresh. Even dessert was an afterthought: a basic, unimaginative cup of vanilla ice cream. Our server, Gerardo, was consistently inattentive. We had to ask him multiple times for simple items like a napkin, and when we requested more sides, he dismissed us by saying the kitchen was "busy" rather than accommodating the request. He appeared visibly annoyed by our questions and frustrated that we weren't interested in over-ordering alcohol. Between the poor quality of the meat, mediocre sides, overpriced drinks, and lackluster service, the experience did not justify the cost. For a restaurant with this reputation, it was a massive disappointment and definitely not a place I will be returning to. Hard pass. read more

Absolutely the best service from greeting me and wife and our 2 friends at the door, to a nice complimentary cocktail at the bar after dinner courtesy of the manager. The food! Wow! Food (4.75/5) - this was easily the best Korean BBQ I've ever had. Enormous menu of meats and side items including some higher end items like Wagyu A5. Everything was high quality and tasty. Had the Butchers Feast which is a nice mix of options and sides including American Wagyu. I added the Japanese A5 to my meal. - Hanger Steak, Galbi, Ribeye, Filet Mignon, American and Japanese A5 Wagyu were all excellent. - lots of sides and I didn't even eat all of them but the two that really stood out were the Savoury Egg Souffle which was excellent and the Spicy Kimchee Stew. Great mix with rice. Service (5/5) - top notch service all the way from the hosts to the main server and secondary ones. Main server explained everything and options in depth and also primed up the cooking of each meat on the grill. Secondary servers would come by every 30-60s to check on the grill and turn or take meat off. Unlike most Korean BBQ restaurants you do not do any cooking here. Atmosphere (4.75/5) - nice upscale layout and the tables are clean and well padded booths. Beautiful bar area and dim dark vibey feel to the restaurant. Overall (4.75/5) - easily the best Korean BBQ I've ever had and one of the top overall restaurants experiences too. Some people commented it's not worth it... COTE (=Flower) Miami is a hidden gem in the area. COTE also has locations in NYC's Flatiron District and Singapore, with an upcoming expansion to Las Vegas. We made reservations about three weeks in advance of our desired date. I recommend booking early to visit this upscale Korean BBQ restaurant. It is a Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-nominated Korean steakhouse. There is valet, street, and garage parking available, as the restaurant is located in the Design District. I highly recommend using Uber/Lyft or opting for valet! Upon entering the restaurant, you'll pass through two doors before stepping into a dimly lit, upscale central bar. There are about 20 tables surrounding this bar, some of which are connected, so you may be seated next to other guests with ample space between parties. Before being seated for your reservation, you'll wait in the center area, where you can order drinks. Their happy hour ("Magic Hour") takes place around the oval bar daily from 5 PM to 7 PM. This is a great opportunity to try some of their specialty drinks and appetizers, though the area can get packed on weekends. FOOD: Butchers' Feast includes four selected cuts of USDA Prime and American Wagyu Beef with Korean side dishes and soups. You can also order a la carte if you want to or do not want to partake in the Butchers' Feast. There is also steak omakase with wine pairing (AKA the grand tour). There are several meat cuts you can try as well. The one cool aspect about this Korean restaurant is that they cook the meats for you (instead of you doing it, which is typical in most Korean BBQ restaurants). 1. This pairs well with any of the meats. 3. Side Dishes (Ban Chan, 4/5): There were about 3 side dishes (spicy radish, pickled cauliflower, and cream corn). We decided to go here our first day in Miami since it was highly recommended and had a Michelin star. However, we were severely disappointed. The interior was beautiful and was well decorated. We decided to get the butcher's feast since we got to try different meat cuts and have some of their savory meals. Our server came to cook our meats, but didn't even ask how we wanted our meats cooked. He added way too much salt for the first cut, causing it to be so salty, we couldn't eat it without some lettuce. The second cut of meat was so tough and not good at all. I don't know why they added it to this course meal. The third cut and fourth cut (marinated rib) were good. But our server was nowhere to be seen during the cooking of the third cut, so it burned on one side but was eventually flipped because another server noticed and came over to do so. I will say the side dishes were pretty good. We especially liked the green onion salad especially paired with the meats. The egg soufflé and the stews were delicious as well and tasted just like how they do it in Korea. That was the only saving grace at this restaurant for us. Everything was wildly overpriced and so not worth it. The highlight was the final ice cream with caramel sauce drizzled on top. That was really good and sweet. Our server was not the nicest. He wouldn't come over and would say he would clean up our table and then leave for ten minutes while we just sat waiting around until another server came to help us out. Came here with reservations for lunch on a weekend and we were seated pretty quickly. The space felt super clean and modern along with pleasant lighting and great service which was a nice first impression upon sitting. The menu had a good selection of dishes with tons of variety and our server was friendly and nice enough to suggest food based on quantity. Food came out pretty quickly and we were even lucky enough to get the initial cup of soup twice by accident. We got one of the meals and the quantity of food was honestly too much on top of the bibimbap, but I'm glad we got to try it all. Drinks were great too, ingredients were fresh and tasty. This felt very much like elevated Korean barbecue which is what was sort of advertised. The meat was super high quality, but the soups were not particularly special unfortunately. I did enjoy everything though and found it to be tasty, with its price point though I'd hope so. I loved the ice cream after as well - the caramel was a nice touch. Overall, we had a great time. For starters, a reservation is absolutely recommended and almost necessary as this is one of the hottest spots in Miami. Our table wasn't quite ready upon arrival so we made our way to their beautiful center bar because why not. The decor was a bit dark giving off speakeasy type vibes. We were greeted with excitement and top notch service that did not go unnoticed. We were explained the menu and were provided with recommendations and suggestions. We almost went with the butchers until we were rerouted for good reasons. The Korean bacon, steak and eggs, short rib (my ultimate favorite), wagyu paella, prime rib and everything in between (wedge salad, ceviche, mushrooms) were all *chefs kiss*. Is it pricey? Yes. Was treated here for my first time on my 37th birthday, and it was worth it! We started off with some drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Mine was the Esteban and it was great, no bite afterwards and very smooth. Ambiance was lively but not too loud, which is perfect for dinner. Once our table was ready, we were given the table I had my eye on *without asking* and it slowly got better as the dinner went on. I let my friends take the wheel and we got 2 orders of the "Steak & Eggs" along the Butcher's Feast, which honestly is a solid choice and I think its just the right amount of food (it was 3 of us). We tried all the cuts several different ways, as suggested by the folks cooking our meats, which gives you a well-rounded variety of ways to enjoy the feast. We absolutely killed everything and didn't leave hungry, which is important at a place like this. Exceptional service all around, we enjoyed chatting it up with the different folks who came to our table. Well this was a last minute lunch decision, saw it on the Miami spice list and just rolled over there with a friend. It was 30 mins til closing for lunch, there were no tables so we stood at the bar. The sommelier was pretty much our waiter, she provided free glasses of champagne due to the lack of tables. The bar was very elegant and cheque. I wanted to try the butcher table lunch, the young lady thought we could get it at the bar but it was not possible. So I went for the fried chicken option and my friend with the bibimbap on the spice menu. As we were waiting for the food we noticed that some tables were empty and asked the hostess if there were any cancellations, she said no but added us to a waiting list. Not shortly afterwards she put us at a table. I asked if could go ahead and change the fried chicken to the butcher lunch now that we had a table but right at that moment or food arrived. But manager was amazing and gave us the upgrade as a courtesy and we got to enjoy the complete experience for just over $100 after tip. The food, service and atmosphere was awesome. My sister kept raving about this place so of course we just had to check them out. We arrived right as they opened and were immediately followed by a line of people also waiting. The theme is almost entirely black with some warm light and metals throughout. You can even admire the dry aged cuts of meat to and from the bathroom. The Tuna tartar was light and refreshing served with this airy fried seaweed sheets. I found both the Fermented soy stew and kimchi stew to be heavily seasoned. The kimchi stew was almost too pungent and I love me some over pickled kimchi. But it's nothing a little water to dilute can't fix. The steamed eggs were light and fluffy. I liked the sides of kimchi, and kimchi daikon, pickle daikon. I especially loved the scallion salad. To rank my favorite cuts of meat to most to least, I'd say A5 wagyu (2 tastings), Grand Galbi, & NY sirloin wagyu. But they were honestly all cooked perfectly with a slight caramelized char. The Bi-bim somyun was a great additional spicy and slightly sweet cold noodle dish. To end the meal, they offer a Vanilla ice cream with soy caramel sauce which was so creamy and sweet. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. Their lychee martinis are divine and the service is top notch. Although expensive, I really do think this place is worth every dollar. The standouts from this meal would have to be the meats, the scallion salad, and the egg soufflé. Everything was excellent, though. The stews were a nice side to the meal and I enjoyed finishing off the whole thing with the soft serve (not sure where the soy sauce was in the caramel, so it was a bit less adventurous flavor-wise than I was hoping). I enjoyed the bone broth to start the meal as well. The service and ambiance was great! We never felt rushed, everything was timely, we always had someone to eat, and everyone we interacted with was friendly. I'll be honest, for a Michelin star, I expected more. But for Korean BBQ, the food is solid. When in Miami, we were able to snag a dinner reservation for COTE. It's a speakeasy-like atmosphere, as the entrance is dark and minimal until they lead you into the restaurant behind closed doors. We opted for the Butcher's feast which is $74 per person and gives each diner the opportunity to sample four cuts of meat (2 oz. per cut; 8 oz. of meat total plus the banchan). The butcher board was presented with the meat for the both of us, along with two mushrooms and two rice cake pieces (so one mushroom cap and one rice cake per person - pretty stingy if you ask me). We were given hanger steak, dry aged ribeye, American wagyu, and galbi (short ribs). The meat servings looked tiny, but it was quite filling with all of the sides. The Butcher's Feast started with a small cup of their beef consommé. I would've liked a tad more salt in the consommé, but the actual meats later on were well-seasoned. I enjoyed the quality of meats overall. The hanger steak and wagyu were so tender. I also loved the flavor of the galbi. My least favorite was the ribeye - this was the most gristly piece to me and a bit of a throwaway. The sides were pretty standard banchan to me. None of the sides stood out from any of the other Korean BBQ restaurants that I've been to... but if the meat is at the forefront of a KBBQ restaurant, I'm okay with that. I did appreciate the service and "all hands on deck" team approach. Different team members were constantly walking by and tending to the meat to make sure that it was cooked properly. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive. They add an automatic 20% gratuity to the check. To end the Butcher's Feast, we were given a cup of their vanilla soft serve and soy sauce caramel. For a Michelin-rated spot, the presentation of my cup of ice cream was a little sloppy, but the flavor was enjoyable. As the last bite of the meal, it was the most memorable. With lots of KBBQ options at home, COTE doesn't particularly stand out to me as a Michelin-rated spot, but maybe it's more of a novelty in Miami. read more

Compared to the high end Korean restaurant that serve Wagyu and Kalbi this was really terrible for a $100/person meal. The meat was grilled to charred pieces and the accompaniments were average. Amazing service with amazing quality! I was fortunate enough to try Cote in NY and now in Miami, and I definitely liked my experience in Miami more. Our server was Burak, who was so knowledgeable and kind and I will come back next time I am in Miami because of his service and hospitality. We opted out of Miami Spice and got the butchers feast since we wanted to add a la carte items , but figured the butchers feast had everything we need. The banchans are always my favorite , a mix of fresh and pickled selections, the stews were great and the steamed egg soufflé was yummy mixed with rice. I had my birthday dinner at Cote, marking my first visit to the restaurant. We arrived an hour before our reservation, hoping to be seated early, but that's not an option here. The place is so busy that seating before your scheduled time simply isn't possible. We spent the wait at the bar, where I quickly realized how fridge-cold the restaurant is--definitely bring a jacket if you go. Once seated, we ordered the Butcher's Feast, which I'd say is the best way to explore the menu. It includes four cuts of meat (two slices per person), served alongside an impressive array of Korean accompaniments. The meat was fantastic, as expected. Some of the sides were incredible, while others were a bit too unfamiliar for my taste--but that's part of exploring Korean cuisine. We left completely full, even with about a third of the sides untouched. There was, however, a small service letdown. My boyfriend had asked the waiter to bring a candle with the dessert as a birthday surprise, but the ice cream arrived without it. He mentioned it to me afterward, and while it wasn't a major issue, it did take away a little from the experience.
