April 24 2022 .Placed my togo order online. I got there at the time according to the email at 8Pm. Stood at register for 15 minutes . No one bothered to ask or help me. Finally I catch one employee and ask about my to go order. He said in another ten minutes. So now it almost 8:30. I waited on bench inside restaurant till 8:45 . I ask about my order again. Then He says it right here on counter. It's been sitting there for 15 minutes. No one bothered to tell me my order is ready with me sitting right in front of them. Just terrible customer service from start to finish. Get home and my food is awful. I order their meatloaf. Apparently they ran out of the red sauce for the meat loaf. So they poured catchup on top of the meatloaf. Gross. Terrible service and awful food. read more

I ordered to-go, the Cajun duo or something like that I can't remember the name but it was tilapia with shrimp and a Cajun sauce with crawfish in it. Only criticism about that is the crawfish were rubbery, they overcooked it. I got a side of fried okra and that was awful, it was old and chewy. I think they obviously were at the end of their supply and scraped the bottom of the barrel instead of cooking me fresh okra. I couldn't even eat it. This order was on a Friday at 5pm, I would have expected fresh food. This was my first time getting the Cajun tilapia and I probably won't get it again because it's a bit heavy and a little too spicy for me. We visited the restaurant at 8:30pm on 8/22/23...I had a party of 2 and I stood at the host station for 15 minutes. Nobody greeted us the entire time, even the manager made eye contact with me multiple times but remained silent. There were more dirty tables than customers dining. After a long day of shopping, with the now pregnant daughter :) we arrive at Cotton Patch. We ask for seating for 3. Polity told a 25 minute wait. I then polity mention, why 25 minutes when I can clearly see empty tables and booths. GET READY FOLKS ~ Ms Greeter, states a large party of 25 just left. OK, I get the look from The Daughter not to say anything because she is starving. I wanted to say, "we are leaving as well." 25 people left, and 3 arrived, I honestly didn't understand the issue. Must be new math?? Next person walks in, Ms Greeter tells them 10 minute wait time. Still no one has been called back to be seated. Now let me say, this is one of our "go to places" when no one knows what they want to eat. Because The Daughter was starving on the way, I had mentioned Luby's as a choice. Nope she was having no part, she called Luby's a establishment for old people???? I am old. As we wait, I mention to the family, in less then 25 minutes we can arrive at Babes. Miraculously within 5 minutes we now are being called back to be seated. (God is good) How did we get from 25 minutes to 5 minutes? After all, a group of 25 people had left. We were all hesitant to wait the 25 minutes and almost left, when in actuality, there was never a wait. Food was good, waitress was outstanding, and we DID NOT have to wait. 5 stars for getting us in and out, so The Daughter could now nap. And also for the food and our waitress. You have to be careful of the service here because it's mostly kids, but I have to say that my last server, Sage, was a really good server. As others have said, the service here is hit or miss. As far as restaurant cleanliness is concerned, the floor where you pick up the take-out orders was sticky with juice. Not sure why a manager didn't have someone just clean the floor. The tables were clean. Try not to go here at dinner time or you will be waiting a while. I mean a while.....Other than that, the food is mostly good. I've had the catfish; good. The patty melt; a little greasy, but good. The rolls are always good. The chicken fried steak is good. Listen, the food will be good if you eat there. WOW! Having been in the service industry for over 20 years, I'm finding it hard to believe the doors are still open to this place. It's simply amazing to me that a restaurant could MISS almost every aspect of service. Starting with the temperature inside. Very chilly and uncomfortable. I let that slide. Our server (party of 3) was polite and took our drink order after introducing herself. The drinks took an exorbitant amount of time to receive. We ordered upon delivery of our beverages. 2 chicken fried chickens (their specialty) and a chicken pasta Alfredo. We talked, and talked, and talked and stayed noticing tables receiving their food that arrived after us. Some with chickens fried chicken... So we wait and wait, and then notice tables leaving that got there at the same time we did! They were finished and we haven't received anything! All the while, a manager was leaning on a wall watching something (it definitely wasn't the restaurant) and never even noticed our table with NOTHING to eat... So we finally got a "it should be right out" from our server and then waited. After some more time elapsed I actually went outside to smoke a cigarette, since I wasn't eating, and when I came back in, I was informed by one of my party that the hold up was the Alfredo (had to find someone and ask what was going on). Server came back to the table and we inquired if our chicken was done. Well guess what magically came out of the kitchen after sitting there the whole time the staff was waiting on the Alfredo. Guess what cold?? Everything... no word from the manager, nothing. They knew they served us "dead" food and didn't give a single second thought about it. I was so angry that we just asked for a box. The Alfredo finally made it to the table, and we're talking watery garbage! We waited 45 minutes or longer for that trash? Immediately asked for another box and 2 checks. I paid with cash and was shorted on my change because coins are too much trouble, so just not give the customer the money they are owed. I will never be back, and the company should be more than embarrassed at this type of "service" and execution. Disgraceful at best. Their lack of integrity shines through and through. Sad. read more

How any restaurant has the audacity to serve boxed macaroni and cheese is beyond me. They didn't even try to doctor it up. The tilapia and shrimp were salty. The broccoli and rice casserole was mostly rice, cheese sauce and celery. I'll pass on this location in the future. read more

I usually go the one in Arlington and I don't ever have an issue. Even been to the one in Waxahachie and it's good as well. I stopped here simply because it was convenient while we shopped. And it wasn't the best. Our waitress was ok but didn't bother to refill our water. My husband orders loaded mashed potato and it wasn't even mashed. All clumpy and greasy. I ordered a burger which wasn't made well done so I tried to make it work but it was still cold on the outside and I just didn't care for it. And not only was it not cooked the way I wanted but it was super messy. I had to dissembled it and put it back together lol but I wouldn't come back to this location. I didn't like that our food wasn't hot it was just warm. So I'll just stick to Arlington because at least they are more attentive. read more

Decided to place an online order for lunch (I typically do not like to order online) I please with how easy it was to order and pay on their site. I was able to request an extra slice of bread and a slice of cheese. When I arrived on time my order was ready. I was greeted by a host and counter employee and was out the door in less than 4 mins. The food was exactly like I ordered and favorable. I will use their online service again soon ! read more

This was my first time visiting this restaurant chain, and heard great things about the place. The service was excellent, but the food was bland. It reminded me of hospital food. The rolls that you get for free had no flavor at all. For the appetizer I ordered the chips & salsa w/queso. The salsa was kind of chunky, but had no taste. The queso was spicy but flavorless. It also was somewhat gritty. For the meal I ordered meatloaf with broccoli and rice casserole and green beans. Again, the casserole needed seasoning and didn't have much broccoli in it. The beans were alright, but could have used more seasoning. The meatloaf was not terrible. Huge portion; I didn't finish it. For dessert I had the Dr. Pepper chocolate cake w/ice cream. I believe the cake was undercooked because it was somewhat gummy at the bottom. Although the food wasn't great I had a fantastic waiter. I told my mom about my experience and she was surprised. I am willing to try this place again, but at a different location. read more

It will be long darn time before I ever consider eating at the Cedar Hill location of the Rotten Patch. By far the worst service I have experienced in years. We were seated in a timely manner and the host was pleasant. Twenty minutes passed and I had to ask the host if we had a server. There were 5 servers in the dining room and not a single one came to our table. To answer my question about our server the host looked at the one person who walked by our table 5-6 times like we weren't even there. She overheard my question cocked her head and snapped at us that she was our server. It only got worse. The table next to us, was seated 2 minutes before us , already had their food. After being in the restaurant for an hour our food finally came out. Mine was wrong and I immediately send it back to be fixed and asked for a manager. The manager came by listened to our experience and offered an apology, and never followed up. Our "Server"never came back to the table. I got my own to-go box, packed up my granddaughters food, paid the check we were never given, at the counter and left. Needless to say I'll be contacting their corporate office on Monday morning to let them know how pitiful and non-existent the service was. read more

I have dined here several times during Covid and today was the first time I felt the service was horrible. We waited 15 or more minutes for drinks. We actually got appetizers before we got the drinks. We were not given any plates to use for our appetizers. Got our food and I had a salad with my food. I had to ask more than once for my salad. By the time I got it I needed a to go box for all my food because at this point. I'm just disgusted with the service. We paid the check and we're leaving a cash tip and she picked up the tip before we could lay it on the table good and didn't even acknowledge that she received one. I had a very mediocre experience today...needless to say I probably will not be coming back to this location. Upon being seated our waiter was very curt and did not bother with any formal greetings or pleasantries. Manager was very personable and seemed to be picking up the young employees slack. Server took forever to bring out the drinks and take our orders. Did not offer us any drink refills or check on us at all. To my knowledge he had no other tables to tend to. As I was making my way to the restroom I saw him at a table in the back playing games on his phone...very unprofessional, especially when our food still hasn't been delivered. The food came out at staggered times which made things a bit awkward. When I looked at other tables with different servers they seemed to be getting their food and drinks efficiently and being checked on...seems like we just got bad luck and received an unattentive server. However when the food did come out EVENTUALLY it was very good. Food was good restraunt was clean the problem was just our servers lack of efficiency and hospitality. read more

Wow after a long long day driving from Lubbock to Abilene with a broken down truck, Getting rescued by a friend Who brought us to Dallas What a refreshing thing it was to find this cute little cafe that had real food. My husband had their famous chicken fried steak but I had their rib eye. The ribeye I had was cooked to perfection. Arely Was our server she was not only friendly she was very accommodating and actually listen to how I like my steak cooked. The food was so so so good. They also serve cornbread muffins and rolls. The manager Mike came over and introduced himself what a great guy. We actually talked about different cuts of meat. This guy really knows his stuff. I'm from Wyoming in my daddy was a meat cutter. So I know he knew what he was talking about. He was very informative about the area and was just a friendly Person. You can tell the staff here like their jobs everyone was friendly efficient. What a nice little jewel this place is for Cedar Hills. I plan on coming back every time I come to visit my daughter. read more

The manager is rude with my customer service skills. My chop steak was burnt with a spoon full of vegetables. It was not worth my ,$18.00.

Ordered street tacos for delivery, and they were 3 small corn tortillas with very little meat and very little sporadic pico, that was it. I know street tacos, and these were a "bare minimum" experience. The outside of tortillas were hard, then chewy. It comes with chips guacamole and queso. So, they basically filled my dish with the 3 tiny tacos and a crap ton of chips, then gave me a small serving of guacamole and small serving of queso. Chips were soft and chewy ... I felt robbed as soon as I opened the dish!! My wife saw it and he unsolicited response was the same. Cotton Patch used to be great, maybe they are just terrible at tacos. read more

I'm just going to say my six year old and I came here with a friend for the first time and while Discovering he loved fried pickles he said to make sure people know these are for cow boys lol the food was amazing and the staff was super friendly. Ordered lunch today from the high school. 7 dollar special was not so good. I decided on the half soup and half salad. They didn't have tomato basil as listed so got the two half cobb salad without a fuss. I can see why. The salad was mostly thrown together with old salad discolored wilted leaves, black old looking real bacon bits, crumbled boiled eggs, fresh looking sliced avocado on top. I ordered chicken and dumplings from this restaurant through Door Dash. When I took out my order, the chicken and dumplings was like chicken noodle soup, with fatter noodles. It's not the dasher's fault. The restaurant knew the C and D was not right when they filled the order. I would bet people at the restaurant were sending it back. But since it was a to go order, I guess the restaurant decided to send it anyway. It's rare that I complain, but if you do t know something is wrong, you can't fix it. You should not send out an order like that. Plus, you shorted me one of my black eyed peas orders. Please try to do better. read more

Don't order takeout or delivery here unless you want 30-40% of your order to not make it in the bags. We are at 5 orders in a row with many missing items and are about to no longer be regular guests. We call for replacements and are told to mention the missing items on a future order. Though, that doesn't work as we were treated like we were trying to get something for free which took forever so we gave up. There has never been a worse experience at a restaurant that I did a this Cotton Patch. I have been to this restaurant many times, but today so very bad. There were three people in my party and all three orders placed came back in error. The first order was fish that was too salty. It was asked for the steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots and squash) without the squash. She got squash, a broccoli and a carrot. The crab was shrimp instead. The second order was chicken strips fried in old cooking oil. They were hard and no true desirable taste. Person ending up eating the fries instead of the chicken. The last order was mine and I received fish tacos. They looked good. Sadly, I ordered fish and chips. Fries were old. After waiting another 10 minutes, I was no longer hungry. We shared our experience and received more reasons to accept the errors than I apologize. Will not be returning. read more

Experience for the first time Cedar Hill location...upon arriving very pleasant greeting. We were immediately seated so I'm excited right...well all customer service vanished after we sat down. It took 10min for our waitress to arrive just to take our drinks. Since it wasn't busy we couldn't understand what was going on finally she comes out, well we are ready to place our order now. Nothing but "tone" in her voice. Food arrives wrong so just in an effort to not be accusing I ask if she wouldn't mind telling me what she wrote down for my order she makes an effort by pulling out her notes but never looks at anything. I tell if I didn't tell her right I was ok...replaced it. But here is my biggest issue...we noticed she very very nice and sweet to her 2 other tables even the guest that was a little rude to her. The Cotton Patch Cafe is truly a hidden gym. The Cedar Hill location specifically has the most AWESOME'est staff (my own made up word). They greet you w/ such kindness, they offer fast seating service, make you feel "at home" and during the visit they check on you to ensure your dining experience is the best and then there's the food. I've not had a dinner/lunch meal that wasn't on point. The hours are great and fit all schedules, the daily specials offer good options, and the meals come w/ two sides..u can't beat that w/ a stick especially for the price. Here lately, I've been so much, I feel like a regular. So on the food: Salads - fresh, large amounts, and very tasty. Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken - large portion w/ crispy crust just like you'd want it and tender cuts. Maple Glazed Salmon - superb tasting, flaky, and a good sized portion. Maple Glazed Chicken meal - tender cuts of chicken, good size portion with very good flavor. Veggies: any one will satisfy; not overcooked, seasoned well and you get a good portion. Meatloaf - very good, well seasoned, and tender and juicy. We are all trying to watch our figures, but don't sleep on the rolls - served warm and they are sooooo good!!! U will definitely want a second serving. End your meal with a slice of PecAn or "pe-cun" pie, however u call it, it is VERY good and satisfying. The staff specifically one of the ASM - Gererado if I recall correctly assisted our waitress when she was busy and they both wore masks and the entire staff were extra clean. I also saw the head restaurant manager working the to go orders diligently and extra careful with COVID-19 protocols. I highly recommend this location. read more

Visited this location with my grandfather and his wife. I ordered the chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The steak had a good flavor, but wasnt very tender at all. It was flat out tough and hard to cut in certain areas. It wasn't the best chicken fried steak I've had at all. But I didnt feel like getting my grandfather worked up and wondering why I didnt like my food so I didnt say anything. The mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were good. However, I side eye places that even attempt to have chicken fried steak on their menu, but it's not fork tender. Every restaurant cant provide consistency with this dish. We also had cornbread and rolls with whipped butter for the table as well. They were both enjoyable I had the strawberry lemonade. Way too sweet. Didnt taste housemade. No fresh strawberries in it. This place is right around the corner from my grandfather and his wifes house and they wanted to take me out to eat so, I just made the most of it. They love this place tho. My grandfather got the meatloaf with squash and another veggie. His wife got the chicken and dumplings with black eyed peas and brocolli casserole. They enjoyed their meals!
