The staff specifically one of the ASM - Gererado if I recall correctly assisted our waitress when she was busy and they both wore masks and the entire staff were extra clean. Visited this location with my grandfather and his wife. I ordered the chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The steak had a good flavor, but wasnt very tender at all. It was flat out tough and hard to cut in certain areas. It wasn't the best chicken fried steak I've had at all. But I didnt feel like getting my grandfather worked up and wondering why I didnt like my food so I didnt say anything. The mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were good. However, I side eye places that even attempt to have chicken fried steak on their menu, but it's not fork tender. Every restaurant cant provide consistency with this dish. We also had cornbread and rolls with whipped butter for the table as well. They were both enjoyable I had the strawberry lemonade. Way too sweet. Didnt taste housemade. No fresh strawberries in it. This place is right around the corner from my grandfather and his wifes house and they wanted to take me out to eat so, I just made the most of it. They love this place tho. My grandfather got the meatloaf with squash and another veggie. His wife got the chicken and dumplings with black eyed peas and brocolli casserole. They enjoyed their meals! The Cotton Patch Cafe is truly a hidden gym. The Cedar Hill location specifically has the most AWESOME'est staff (my own made up word). They greet you w/ such kindness, they offer fast seating service, make you feel "at home" and during the visit they check on you to ensure your dining experience is the best and then there's the food. I've not had a dinner/lunch meal that wasn't on point. The hours are great and fit all schedules, the daily specials offer good options, and the meals come w/ two sides..u can't beat that w/ a stick especially for the price. Here lately, I've been so much, I feel like a regular. So on the food: Salads - fresh, large amounts, and very tasty. Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken - large portion w/ crispy crust just like you'd want it and tender cuts. Maple Glazed Salmon - superb tasting, flaky, and a good sized portion. Maple Glazed Chicken meal - tender cuts of chicken, good size portion with very good flavor. Veggies: any one will satisfy; not overcooked, seasoned well and you get a good portion. Meatloaf - very good, well seasoned, and tender and juicy. We are all trying to watch our figures, but don't sleep on the rolls - served warm and they are sooooo good!!! U will definitely want a second serving. End your meal with a slice of PecAn or "pe-cun" pie, however u call it, it is VERY good and satisfying. They drizzle a bit of caramel on top and whip cream, if u like that. That's my "to go" item so I can warm it just a bit for the best experience. Do yourself a treat and GO, dine and enjoy. read more

I'm giving the five stars because of the service I received tonight. Ever since I got the door dash app I have started ordering from Cotton Patch weekly. Prior to this it had been about 10 years since I had stepped foot in a Cotton Patch. The food is good and different from always getting fast food. Tonight my door dash order was delivered wrong. Finally tried this place and I can honestly say I will never be back.... they advertise home cooking and they are about as home cooking as boiling water. Food seems frozen not fresh. The Mac and cheese was kraft powered cheese box worthy and OVERCOOKED and very gummy at that. I sent it back and opted for mashed potatoes instead and they were dry as dust and cold. I ate at cotton patch at cedar hill yesterday. Was very disappointed. The food took forever because one person at the table ordered a steak. So when we got our food it's was cool of lukewarm I ordered black eyed peas and cornbread. The peas were cool and no juice The service was poor. And the place was dirty. The floors were dirty and the chairs had not been cleaned in years The place needs to close and do some serious cleaning. The one in Waxahachie is very nice. And clean. Took 45 min to be seated and we watched no one was in front of us so we were waiting til the lady wanted to sit us cause she was on her phone the whole time and every table in there had food and trash they were all dirty no one was cleaning they were just playing around and on there phones the worst service and dirty looking place I have seen. The food was terrific! Large portions, delicious and hot. I had it delivered. The only problem I had was the gravy. They only included 1/3 of a small container that only covered 1/2 the chicken fried steak and none of the mashed potatoes. Had the container been full, or even 1/2 full, it would have been okay. There was about a spoon and a half in the bottom of the little container. Really ridiculous, or just too rushed. But it was great tasting, no doubt! read more

I didn't actually eat here so this isn't a reflection of the food or service but I came in to eat and study and there was christian music playing very loudly. I asked the hostess if that's all they played and she said yes so I left. I, personally, think it's in very poor taste to play religious music in a public environment. I'm Jewish so I don't want to hear Jesus blasted into my brain when I need to study. I think some light quiet country or classic rock playing in the background would have been better. I visit cotton patch on occasion with my parents. Their service is always good but their food just doesn't get me excited. The cheese dip with meat crumbles is a good appetizer. My mom loves their fish tacos. I've experienced their veggie plate, Chicken fried chicken, and chicken & dumplings before. All were about the same in flavor, bland. Maybe just not the restaurant for my taste buds. But customer service rocks! read more

This is our go-to spot to eat regularly. The fried pickles are a nice starter. I recommend the chicken fried steak or the chicken fried chicken. They have lots of side item vegetables. My wife usually gets chicken fried chicken or fried catfish. She's particular about catfish and says their catfish is not the usual farm-raised fatty kind. read more

I ordered the Brisket Tacos and a side of Potato Soup. For starters, the chips inside the container were so nasty and stale, they tasted old. The tacos themselves -100. The corn tortilla was literally crumbling to pieces as I picked it up, indicating how stale and old the corn tortilla was, the taco was sloppy and everything was gross. I literally never leave reviews, but this being my first and last time, I was super disappointed. It was a waste of $18 that I could have went somewhere else with. read more

I just ate at this Cotten Patch location in Cedar Hill, Tx, and I left disappointed and mildly disgusted. This restaurant used to be our family favorite -- the food was excellent, the atmosphere cozy, and the music pleasant. Then, someone had a brainstorm, and decided to remodel the place. The remodel was so-so; they took away the warm cozy feel and gave it a semi-warm eclectic feel. In spite of the atmosphere change, it was acceptable, as long as the food was the same, great quality. However, not only did they change the appearance of the place, they took the liberty of changing things in the kitchen as well, and I noticed. The manager admits he is down a microwave or 2, but I think more is going on. The food does not have that fresh out of the oven feel. It seems more like food prepared way ahead of time, and then brought to the table barely warm. My husband and I both had to ask that our food be heated. Since today is my birthday, my husband took me here for my birthday meal. I was really looking forward to the experience, but left so disappointed. I ordered todays special, chicken spaghetti; The spaghetti was over cooked and mushy, however, it was actually a surprise, considering most restaurants serve spaghetti undercooked. The flavor and freshness of the food is still quite good, but the heat factor ruins the whole meal. And to top it off, they have changed the style of music from what they used to play-- not relaxing or enjoyable. Needless to say, after giving this place a try three different times since the remodel, I have no intention of ever returning. Nor will I recommend this place. In fact, I will be sure and not recommend it. Let's see how long it will last. Black Eyed Pea didn't last more than 3 years. I don't know why restaurants in Cedar Hill think this new eclectic atmosphere is the way to go, but for me, it makes me want to run away and have myself a nice home cooked meal. Hope my comment will cause restaurant managers to think about these things regarding their business, and just know, that people prefer cozy and comfort over a black, dim, cold atmosphere, decorated in stainless steel. My fiance wanted to eat some home-style cooking and talked me into coming to Cotton Patch Cafe. It's located in a shopping center and not easy to get to if you take the wrong entrance. My first impression when I walked in was: dirty. The carpets look like they need a deep cleaning. The fake plants are covered in dust. Everything looks dingy. Small and intimate the Cotton Patch looks like a place you'd see in Pleasantville. The folks eating here are over 55. We started with the half order of fried mushrooms. The portion was generous for a half order. The mushrooms were greasy. I'm not used to eating fried food so I can't say they were terrible and being greasy is probably normal. I ordered a BLT and potato cheese soup off the lunch menu. They both tasted totally normal. Nothing special. My fiance ordered the pot roast. They don't cook the meat with the veggies. The veggies looked dehydrated and sad. My fiance said the food tasted ok. He had a side of squash and broccoli casserole. Nothing special. We ordered the peach cobbler which was the best part of the meal. I say that but it was just a little better than the other dishes. Nothing special. Most of the food looked like left overs to me. Nothing tasted fresh. The food was mostly bland. I spent $46 on lunch here. I won't return or recommend. The food is nothing special. read more

Being told that "it would be easier to just come inside" to pick up my CURBSIDE order and then having it NOT be easier is just horrendous. If curbside is not an option DON'T list it as an option on online ordering. People choose curbside for a reason, I had my toddler with me & did not want to put her around a bunch of people. Had some decent broccoli cheese casserole and excellent baked squash. Only bad thing about the meal was the garlic mashed potatoes which had 0 flavor. Bad enough that I asked for a new side to replace it. The steak was excellent and a huge portion. The favorite part of the meal to me was what we started with. Fried mushrooms. They where excellent! Whole mushrooms diped in beer batter and deep fried. I can honestly say I have never had better anywhere else. They where big enough you had to use a fork to eat them with. I'll deffinetly be going back if not just for an order of shrooms. Our waitress was very kind and helpful and was very cool in changing out the side of bland potatoes for me. I was on the phone with a friend who was attempting to eat at this establishment solo. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there appeared to be ample waitstaff. The hostess asked a tall African America female if she could take 1 customer and she replied,"No!" . My friend was completely deflated by the poor customer service. Instead of waiting the fifteen minutes he was told he would have to wait, he left and went to Burger King's drive thru. He actually received better customer service at the fast food establishment than he did at the dine in. If the female would have just stated politely that she was swamped or was about to get off work...it would have gone over a lot smoother, but to look at the customer and yell "no" is truly poor customer service and marks a person from wanting to return. read more
