Being from the Dallas suburbs, I've been a frequenter of Cotton Patch Cafe. Although it's a chain, the lack of solid local restaurants in the Sherman/Denison area has me eating chains probably more often than I'm used to. I ordered via Door Dash a simple meatloaf with loaded mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and added 3 rolls onto the order. The meatloaf was dry as hell, the broccoli wasn't even steamed all the way through (how hard is it to steam broccoli?! Come on!), and they sent me 3 brown rocks for rolls...burnt to hell and dry af. The only absolutely mediocre thing that was salvageable were the mashed potatoes. This is the 3rd time I've tried this place and it's been awful each time. A large group of us care into town for a concert and decided to stop in and give it a taste. Best move yet! The food is off the chain great! The only issue is, you can't try it all. We went on our first night in town and had the best waitress ever. We decided to try some fried pickles and chips and queso. Yummy!! Pickles were perfect and the queso was the bomb! Now you must know they have the best rolls in Texas! Holy cow! We could of eaten just those. We had chicken and dumplings, which rocked! Some chicken fried chicken, that could of fed 4 people. Perfectly fried and fresh! The Baja tacos were amazing. Two girls in our group got the squash casserole and said the best yet! The next day we cancelled our dinner for the group of 18, and came back to this wonderful place. The waitress and staff was fantastic!! The food was amazing and everyone loved it! I placed an online order at 5:50; with a pickup time I extended to 6:15. I arrived at 6:15; order was not ready. They were busy so I didn't mind waiting. Finally at 6:25 since no one even bothered to acknowledge my presence any longer; I asked if they had even started my order yet. The girl said yes, but went back into the kitchen to check. I could see into the kitchen, the confused looks as they couldn't even figure out where my order was. The girl came back to the front & said NOTHING to me after 'checking' on my order. This was when I asked to speak to the manager. It's now 6:30, that's 40 minutes after I placed my order; not to mention 15 minutes past the pick up time. I was pretty nice, I could have been irate, raised my voice, etc, But I explained the time situation vs pick up time to this 'manager' and she couldn't even utter a simple 'I'm sorry'. She wanted to argue with me about minute details like 'No you placed your order at 5:50, not 5:45'. OK, fine; it's still 6:30 & where is my food??? I said to her 'I just want you to do better'. I didn't ask for a comp of anything; though an offer would have been nice. She just wanted to argue & say 'well we don't have any control over...... blah blah blah' Still not addressing the IT"S BEEN 40 MINUTES WHERE IS MY ORDER?" I finally told her I didn't want to talk to her because a stream of excuses was not getting us anywhere. Perhaps the mgrs could use some lessons in customer service also? read more

I have never reviewed a restaurant on Yelp until today. Never have I loathed a place so much that I felt I would be doing humanity a favor by warning others away. I have literally created this account so I could give my fellow neighbors a chance to avoid this specific restaurant if they can. I attempted to contact their corporate office, but apparently, they don't care and this attitude permeates throughout the entire restaurant chain. You don't want to eat at Cotton Patch Cafe in Denison, TX, unless you like your food to come to the table after sitting under the heat lamps for an hour, your drink glass to have someone's lipstick still on the rim, and you want other food besides what you ordered. We were one of 8 tables in the entire restaurant (we counted), and there were at least 5 servers working (we counted), and 3 cooks in the kitchen (Guess what? we counted them too). We couldn't even get silverware for the first 45 minutes we were there to get some butter on our rolls. Did I mention we also found HAIRS in our food? Not one, but what looked like multiple pet hairs. We've given this place multiple tries to see if we just ate there on an off day, but every time we eat there, something disgusting happens. Where is the managment in this miasma of restaurant hell? We will not be going to Cotton Patch Cafe anymore, any restaurant or even a food truck, is better. read more

I went here yesterday with my daughter, it wasn't very full. Not one person greeted us, we stood there for like 10 minutes before they finally acknowledged us, and said someone will be with you soon. We waited another 10 minutes and another server told us someone would be with us soon. The fact is, no one ever came to us and sat us or anything. We have been regular customers at the Denison location. Staff is very friendly. Manager is professional and personable. Our meals are always hot and delicious. The employee was really nice. Food ready on time for pick up. Wow , I did however become disappointed in my 30 dollar order. The fish and chips , basically had skinny overcooked fries that were cold. I would have forgave that it wasn't actual chips (potatoe wedges) My macaroni and cheese was dried out and cold. Both of these items went in the trash. The cornbread was not as described but am at a loss for what it was. It too was old. I would have rather they said it was unavailable then sell old overdone food from reheating throughout shift. Worst experience I've had in a restaurant. Our waitress added money to her tip after we had paid and left. Called the restaurant to dispute the additional charge only to be told to call back later and they will look it up then. 2 hours from arriving to leaving is how long we sat there. Long wait to be seated, long wait to order, long wait to get food, long wait to pay for our meals. So many better places to eat nearby that won't steal from you, better service and food quality. Food was good. I can't say much for the waitress. Took half an hour for my appetizer to arrive, delivered by the manager who said it was on the house. Then she forgot about the other appetizer. That appetizer finally came with the meals. When paying our party split the check. I had to send that back because the appetizer that was to be on the house, was charged to my check. The waitress was confused when returning with our cards and receipts as far as which card and which receipt belonged to which person. When I got home and looked at my bank transaction to my dismay I found she had charged both checks to my account!!! Hmmm, we left good tips and now regret it. Use to be a really good place to eat. I called in a to go order on Monday night for the Chicken Fried Chicken. The garlic mashed potatoes were so hard they couldn't be eaten & along with the baked squash had absolutely NO FLAVOR! I walked in & yes they were busy but is no one working the to goes? I along with another patron waited & waited, no one acknowledged us for like 10 minutes. My food sat in window getting cold! Probably won't go back. Very sad it's come to this. read more

We first tried Cotton Patch Cafe in Denison last year after we moved near here, and we have returned several times. Each time we have found the food to be freshly prepared and flavorful with generous servings. Today was no exception. We ordered the trio appetizer with queso, guacamole, and fresh salsa. The queso was just the right consistency, creamy with a little kick. The chips were warm and crisp, and the guacamole and salsa were both fresh and quite good. For entrees, my husband had the chicken fried brisket, and it was tender and delicious; but he says he will go back to his old favorite "regular" chicken fried steak next time. I had brisket quesadillas. The tortillas were fresh with crispy edges, and the smoked pulled brisket was very tender with some fresh pica de gallo, a drizzle of yummy Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, and perfectly melted cheese. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, because they are offering a seasonal Pumpkin Crunch that looked insanely good. All the waitpersons who have served us have been excellent, especially Steve, who is a favorite. Today we were lucky to be served by Chase, and he was very attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. If I was forced to complain about anything, it is that I would love to be able to enjoy a margarita here. For some reason, the only alcohol served is beer or wine. A margarita would make Cotton Patch perfect in my eyes, but that doesn't keep us from returning again and again! read more

Last night in Denison decided to try the restaurant i hear good things about it. They sat my down, very nice and polite. Then I SAT THERE 18 MINUTES not one server ask me about a drink or if I had been served nothing. At one point there was 4 servers by my table. So I left and went to another restaurant next door. We sat for over an hour while others came and went. They were not that busy. We got regular teas instead of sweet tea. We were patient. We were told it will be a few more minutes for 30+ minutes. We finally left to go eat anywhere else. I We did not order anything special. I guess we should have complained sooner but that always makes me wonder about the food preparation. The manager could have come apologize but did not. They failed on many levels. I encourage others to not visit this location. read more
