For lunch, I had the spicy chicken and waffles with a side of goat cheese grits and they did not disappoint. Strong showing - not my favorite local chicken and waffles but a strong entry into the conversation. The grits were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. My wife had the baked chicken dish and loved it. I had a bite of it and was very impressed. We started with the brussels sprouts, and the sauce that came with it was delicious and the brussels sprouts were wonderfully crispy. I loved the added goat cheese. The biscuits were very dense and almost hard to swallow. The chicken breast was dry and hard to cut through. The sauce that it came with was just OK, but nothing special. The fries seemed like they just came from the frozen aisle of a grocery store. The salads were very simple and used store-bought salad dressing, which was disappointing, especially for the ranch. I always love, salmon, but I couldn't finish this salmon because the taste was not good and it was much too fishy. I liked the crust on the outside. I also really love mac & cheese, but I also couldn't finish it because it was not good and had an off flavor. The Mississippi mud pie was the best part of the meal besides the brussels sprouts. I've been here a couple of times and my experience has been consistent. It was friendly and timely. The weather was nice out so we did patio seating; that and the surrounding scenery was enjoyable. So many great menu options, but I opted for the Fried Chicken. I love the tenderness and honey dusted seasoning that makes for a great bite 10/10. The side of fries were pretty tasty as well. So I've been here a few times since my initial review and I am SO GLAD to say things have absolutely changed for the better!! Typically, I'll come in for brunch and their waffles are absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Seriously, so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious! Even if I decide to get an entree that doesn't come with waffles, I'll always order them as an additional side cause they're just that good!! This time around I got the chicken tenders with fries, and of course, waffles. Everything was ON POINT!! Chicken was seasoned to perfection, all of the sauces were clearly housemade and DELICIOUS!! We visited this gem of a place recommended by a friend of ours bc it's his fav brunch place. We're not from the area so we weee excited to try. Walked in super cute decor and vibe. The waitress was super friendly and nice and gave us a run down of what's good to eat a specials they had. I ordered the Cesar salad with grilled shrimp. The salad came with dressing on it which I personally wasn't a fan of I felt like it was a bit much on the heavy side for dressing, the shrimp was good but smelled real fishy to me maybe could have been cooked a a bit longer. My husband ordered the fried chicken plate spicy sweet flavor and it came more saucy then we thought we were expecting like fried chicken and it was like tossed in a sauce of some kind we could have did without that. My son ordered French toast with a fried chicken tender and he had zero complaints and it looked tasty. My daughter ordered a kids pancake and they brought us a waffle instead but they brought us the pancake and let us keep the waffle so I ate that. It was delicious. Burton salad, I liked this with the honey mustard is was spicy! The least favorite was the smothered chicken. Chicken was dry and gross. For dinner coconut and me sat outside. This place unfortunately is another average restaurant. It's not a place I would seek out to return to. The asherville chicken sandwich was ok, but lacked in flavor and the bread was soggy. I'm not sure if it sat under a heat lamp maybe? But it came out so quickly so not sure how it had time to get soggy. The Cobb tasted like something you could get pre-packaged from a grocery store and we couldn't decide which dressing to get because they didn't complement the salad well. The desserts were very sweet and yummy, but had a little bit of an artificial flavor. The waitress was kind and quick, so no complaints there. Overall, I'd hate to say it, but it's both nothing special and the food missed the mark. 3 stars for me. read more

Epic fail on my part for no pictures! I had the meatloaf and the combination of beef and chorizo was stunning along with the sauce. I couldn't figure out what it was but it was gooood! Cayden our server was great. This was my first time at Tupelo Honey and she walked us down the men and suggested her favorites. She was amazing. I have waited a full week for my review to make sure I was fair on my thoughts and stars. Was very excited to give this place a try, still glad we did but I was disappointed in the bone in fried chicken and fried okra. The waiter suggested the bone in fried chicken and did a fantastic job of explaining the 18 hour brine process, the juicy end product over the chicken strips...and....it wasn't good. I'm sure perhaps a one off...I'm hoping but even the waiter agreed my serving didn't appear to be their best product. Dry- as in almost dehydrated, no moisture whatsoever in the fried breast. The okra was so over cooked it was as crunch as corn nuts. The manager explained that's how they serve their okra and I kindly replied it wasn't my idea of good southern fried okra. To be fair- the waiter and manager were VERY kind, replaced my bone in fried chicken with strips, Mac-n-cheese and fries. The bee dust or whatever the "dust" is they use is a little much in my opinion. It's not necessary on any of their food and in fact is over used and way too heavy in my opinion. For me- I won't go back as it just wasn't all that great for me or the three other folks with me. read more

I love going for the shrimp and grits. The flavors are fantastic but also not too heavy. They pair well with a peach mimosa to wash it all down. Service was good - not too intrusive. Went here with the fam on a whim. Make Monday a fun day I said. Southern comfort food seemed like a solid choice. I shall begin by bitching about the weirdly tight parking in the garage at the star. It looks spacious but the illusion would undoubtedly leave David Copperfield making excuses about something in his eyes. Anyway, the Tupelo Honey is a nice, trendy type of establishment with a large airy seating area and multiple seating options abound. Pretty much what you'd expect from a restaurant of this tier. We were seated with haste as it was Monday. I will note that it was still pretty full. Our most excellent server was upon us almost immediately with a bright smile. Service in fact was a high mark of our visit. The staff here js fantastic. The food. Yes sirs and Madames,it was certainly good. I had the Asheville hot chicken, mac and cheese waffle. I enjoyed it though i wish it had more heat. I guess Nashville will always have that over Asheville. My wife had the sandwich version of that which looked a bit sad but delivered on taste. We got seated because we reserved a couple hours before and the food arrived fast. Our table got the delicious biscuits, chicken and waffles (spicy), half chicken, fried chicken sandwich with fries and a breakfast casserole (fried egg with potatoes). Tupelo Honey is in a great location where there are lots of things to do around the restaurant. The ambiance is nice, but we had the worst server. He only dropped off half our drinks and didn't come back with the other half until 20 minutes later (one of the drinks was water). I opted not to order cocktails since it would probably take too long to arrive. After we received our food, he didn't check up on us until we were almost done eating. We had to ask two other servers to grab one condiment. It was fairly packed on a Tuesday evening. Make reservations if you plan to go there on the weekend. The Fried Chicken was wonderfully seasoned and deliciously moist. We ordered the Whole Bird with Brussels Sprouts and French Fries. The chicken was enough to share but maybe not the sides. The waitress was very friendly and asked if we had been to the restaurant before. We asked her what dishes she would recommend. We ordered the fried chicken and the Tupelo shrimp and grits. Food: - Asheville Hot with Mac-N-Cheese Waffles (7/10): This dish is definitely creative! Somehow, they managed to stuff mac-n-cheese into a waffle, and it surprisingly works. However, I felt the waffle could've leaned more savory--something like a jalapeño and cheddar waffle would have added a nice kick and complemented the mac-n-cheese better. While the dish was good, it just needed that extra layer of boldness to truly stand out. - Rosemary and Parmesan Crispy Fries (9/10): These fries were easily the highlight of the meal. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned to perfection with a great balance of rosemary and parmesan. They were flavorful without being overpowering, making them an instant favorite. Overall: This spot has some fun and inventive offerings, and it's clear they put effort into creating unique dishes. This was my first glance of great food in Dallas. This particular location was in Frisco, beautifully lit restaurant with towers of alcohol lined up as you step into their space. Service was great, our server was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. We tried the gin & espresso martini. Both were delicious, sadly weren't in the happy hour menu. Fried green tomatoes with grits and romesco sauce was my favorite thing i ate. For our main, we split the Pork with Mac n cheese & crispy potatoes. Pork was cooked perfectly and sides were amazing. One criticism though, i didn't taste or see any rosemary on the potatoes. That would've been fantastic! Overall, loved the food and experience! Been here 3 times and I don't get the hype. Every time I've been here none of the food I got was very special. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was probably the best thing I've had. The chicken and waffles were not special. Chicken was pretty dry even with the spicy sauce on it. Waffles were below par. They seemed to have changed what they do with the potatoes now and don't do the cracklin potatoes. Now just standard diner potatoes which are fine. The biscuit was decent but they give you cold butter that crumbles and doesn't spread. My fiancé did say her grits were good though. I had the privilege of getting brunch here recently and it was excellent! I had stopped by Tupelo Honey once before, during a Galentine's Day event thrown by the Star, and received a complimentary biscuit. After that, I knew I had to come back! We were able to be seated quickly under our reservation and began our brunch with the Biscuits for a Cause. This appetizer came with two biscuits, blueberry jam, and whipped butter. It was amazing! Tupelo Honey could definitely have one of my favorite biscuits, they are so sweet, buttery and fresh. The blueberry jam and butter were also great, and I even added a little honey which just made the whole thing even better! For our entrees, we ordered the Avocado Toast & Eggs and the Farmhouse Breakfast Platter. The Avocado Toast & Eggs were excellent, especially if you are a fan of avocado toast in general. For the Farmhouse Breakfast Platter, it included 2 eggs, Texas toast and I selected the Goat Cheese Grits and the Chorizo Pork Sausage. The Goat Cheese Grits were amazing, especially if you are a fan of goat cheese like me. The Chorizo Pork Sausage my waitress recommended and it was also very delicious. We concluded our brunch with the Heavenly Banana Pudding. They had two size options, regular and mini and I chose the mini. This banana pudding was fantastic. Banana pudding is one of my favorite foods and I have tried many versions the past couple of decades, and this one is seriously one of my favorites. It is not too strong on the banana flavor and the pudding is this wonderful, whipped, light texture that was so delicious. Ultimately, the service, food and every other detail were great. I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant as well and the entire experience was worth it. I hope to return soon, especially for that banana pudding!! Thank you so much! read more
