We started with the brussels sprouts, and the sauce that came with it was delicious and the brussels sprouts were wonderfully crispy. I loved the added goat cheese. The biscuits were very dense and almost hard to swallow. The chicken breast was dry and hard to cut through. The sauce that it came with was just OK, but nothing special. The fries seemed like they just came from the frozen aisle of a grocery store. The salads were very simple and used store-bought salad dressing, which was disappointing, especially for the ranch. I always love, salmon, but I couldn't finish this salmon because the taste was not good and it was much too fishy. I liked the crust on the outside. I also really love mac & cheese, but I also couldn't finish it because it was not good and had an off flavor. The Mississippi mud pie was the best part of the meal besides the brussels sprouts. I've been here a couple of times and my experience has been consistent. It was friendly and timely. The weather was nice out so we did patio seating; that and the surrounding scenery was enjoyable. So many great menu options, but I opted for the Fried Chicken. I love the tenderness and honey dusted seasoning that makes for a great bite 10/10. The side of fries were pretty tasty as well. So I've been here a few times since my initial review and I am SO GLAD to say things have absolutely changed for the better!! Although the service is always solid, the food has always been a mixed bag for me. Thankfully, that is no longer the case!! Typically, I'll come in for brunch and their waffles are absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Seriously, so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious! Even if I decide to get an entree that doesn't come with waffles, I'll always order them as an additional side cause they're just that good!! This time around I got the chicken tenders with fries, and of course, waffles. Everything was ON POINT!! Chicken was seasoned to perfection, all of the sauces were clearly housemade and DELICIOUS!! Fries were great and the waffles were a DREAMMMM. Also, I forgot how cute the drinking glasses were here. Epic fail on my part for no pictures! I had the meatloaf and the combination of beef and chorizo was stunning along with the sauce. I couldn't figure out what it was but it was gooood! Cayden our server was great. This was my first time at Tupelo Honey and she walked us down the men and suggested her favorites. She was amazing. We got seated because we reserved a couple hours before and the food arrived fast. This place unfortunately is another average restaurant. It's not a place I would seek out to return to. The asherville chicken sandwich was ok, but lacked in flavor and the bread was soggy. I'm not sure if it sat under a heat lamp maybe? But it came out so quickly so not sure how it had time to get soggy. The Cobb tasted like something you could get pre-packaged from a grocery store and we couldn't decide which dressing to get because they didn't complement the salad well. The desserts were very sweet and yummy, but had a little bit of an artificial flavor. The waitress was kind and quick, so no complaints there. Went here with the fam on a whim. Make Monday a fun day I said. Southern comfort food seemed like a solid choice. I shall begin by bitching about the weirdly tight parking in the garage at the star. It looks spacious but the illusion would undoubtedly leave David Copperfield making excuses about something in his eyes. Anyway, the Tupelo Honey is a nice, trendy type of establishment with a large airy seating area and multiple seating options abound. Pretty much what you'd expect from a restaurant of this tier. We were seated with haste as it was Monday. I will note that it was still pretty full. Our most excellent server was upon us almost immediately with a bright smile. Service in fact was a high mark of our visit. The staff here js fantastic. The food. Yes sirs and Madames,it was certainly good. I had the Asheville hot chicken, mac and cheese waffle. I enjoyed it though i wish it had more heat. I guess Nashville will always have that over Asheville. My wife had the sandwich version of that which looked a bit sad but delivered on taste. Tupelo Honey is in a great location where there are lots of things to do around the restaurant. The ambiance is nice, but we had the worst server. He only dropped off half our drinks and didn't come back with the other half until 20 minutes later (one of the drinks was water). I opted not to order cocktails since it would probably take too long to arrive. After we received our food, he didn't check up on us until we were almost done eating. We had to ask two other servers to grab one condiment. It was fairly packed on a Tuesday evening. Make reservations if you plan to go there on the weekend. The Fried Chicken was wonderfully seasoned and deliciously moist. We ordered the Whole Bird with Brussels Sprouts and French Fries. The chicken was enough to share but maybe not the sides. Been here 3 times and I don't get the hype. Every time I've been here none of the food I got was very special. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was probably the best thing I've had. The chicken and waffles were not special. Chicken was pretty dry even with the spicy sauce on it. Waffles were below par. They seemed to have changed what they do with the potatoes now and don't do the cracklin potatoes. Now just standard diner potatoes which are fine. The biscuit was decent but they give you cold butter that crumbles and doesn't spread. My fiancé did say her grits were good though. I really don't get the hype and was especially let down because it's in such a high end area. read more

We decided to check out this restaurant on a Saturday during lunchtime and waited only 5 minutes to be seated, which was nice. The waitress was very friendly and asked if we had been to the restaurant before. We asked her what dishes she would recommend. We ordered the fried chicken and the Tupelo shrimp and grits. While the experience had some definite highlights, there were also areas where the food could have been elevated a bit more to make it truly memorable. Food: - Asheville Hot with Mac-N-Cheese Waffles (7/10): This dish is definitely creative! Somehow, they managed to stuff mac-n-cheese into a waffle, and it surprisingly works. However, I felt the waffle could've leaned more savory--something like a jalapeño and cheddar waffle would have added a nice kick and complemented the mac-n-cheese better. While the dish was good, it just needed that extra layer of boldness to truly stand out. - Rosemary and Parmesan Crispy Fries (9/10): These fries were easily the highlight of the meal. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned to perfection with a great balance of rosemary and parmesan. They were flavorful without being overpowering, making them an instant favorite. Overall: This spot has some fun and inventive offerings, and it's clear they put effort into creating unique dishes. I had the privilege of getting brunch here recently and it was excellent! I had stopped by Tupelo Honey once before, during a Galentine's Day event thrown by the Star, and received a complimentary biscuit. After that, I knew I had to come back! We were able to be seated quickly under our reservation and began our brunch with the Biscuits for a Cause. This appetizer came with two biscuits, blueberry jam, and whipped butter. It was amazing! Tupelo Honey could definitely have one of my favorite biscuits, they are so sweet, buttery and fresh. The blueberry jam and butter were also great, and I even added a little honey which just made the whole thing even better! For our entrees, we ordered the Avocado Toast & Eggs and the Farmhouse Breakfast Platter. The Avocado Toast & Eggs were excellent, especially if you are a fan of avocado toast in general. For the Farmhouse Breakfast Platter, it included 2 eggs, Texas toast and I selected the Goat Cheese Grits and the Chorizo Pork Sausage. The Goat Cheese Grits were amazing, especially if you are a fan of goat cheese like me. The Chorizo Pork Sausage my waitress recommended and it was also very delicious. We concluded our brunch with the Heavenly Banana Pudding. They had two size options, regular and mini and I chose the mini. This banana pudding was fantastic. Banana pudding is one of my favorite foods and I have tried many versions the past couple of decades, and this one is seriously one of my favorites. It is not too strong on the banana flavor and the pudding is this wonderful, whipped, light texture that was so delicious. Ultimately, the service, food and every other detail were great. I used to love this place. Recently I visited again after a while. Not only they changed their menu pretty significant- the flavor and quality was not the same as it used to be when they first opened. They used to have a fried chicken plate and it wasn't offered anymore. Their biscuits used to taste homemade and they were delicious. This time around they felt like frozen biscuits that were warmed up for that moment. I was so disappointed. Many places in my area tend to do this. They start with a bang and then the quality/ingredients/service starts to diminish. It seems that's the case with Tupelo. Maybe that's why it was empty on a Saturday midday (which used to have a waiting list back when they opened). Service was not the best either even though it was not full. The place still looks pretty inside and it used to be a fantastic place to either go with the family/friends or even a date. Very disappointed. Not a terrible experience here but overall not a great one either. The ambiance was a little bit more casual than we were expecting with loud music and bright lights. It was also a bit dirty inside the restaurant as a whole. This was not a huge deal, but then we also ended up with somewhat lousy service as well. Our waitress was distracted and rushed. We were left waiting multiple times with just a "I'll be back" or "just one second". It's possible that they were understaffed. The coffee was decent, and I will say the food was delish! I had the hot chicken and Mac waffles and it was spicy for a wuss like me but very yummy with lots of flavor. Husband had the smothered chicken and Mac and cheese and that was to die for. The lavender lemonade was wayyyy too tart. Not a huge fan of that. Otherwise, a kind of "mid" experience. We dined at Tupelo Honey to celebrate a friend's birthday. We made a reservation through Open Table as this place is fairly packed! I ordered the Mac-n-cheese Waffled with Asheville Hot Fried Chicken as the combination of flavors sounded delicious. The mac and cheese was my favorite component; amazing texture, creamy, cheesy, and with great flavor. The fried chicken was good too - nice and crispy, not dry, altthough I prefer a thicker batter/coating. The waffle could've used a bit more time on the iron. Despite some room for improvement on individual components, the dish had good overall flavor. The sum was greater than its parts. For drinks, I had the Magic Lemonade - tableside color-changing experience with butterfly pea flower syrup. The color-changing effect was cool, but the taste of the cocktail was just okay. It needed more lemon flavor and a bit less sweetness. I could barely taste the alcohol, which might be a plus or minus depending on your preference. Our waitress was super nice, but the food did take a while to come out. The inside is fairly busy but it is very cute. Parking can be tricky, but there's a parking garage nearby. We ordered the meatloaf which was way too sweet and it was the size of a cup. Then we ordered the Tupelo honey chicken half bird. Very dry no flavor. I thought this was supposed to be their signature item. Our drinks came way after our meals came, which we ordered draft beer. The beer by the way was way too old and you can taste that it's stale not enough turnaround. Then the waitress, Valerie needs a lot more training. It was our first time there and Valerie never introduced what the special or items they had were. 10 minutes after our food arrives. She comes by our table and ask would we like to go boxes when we're in the middle of eating our meal. She did this twice as if she was trying to kick us out of the restaurant. It wasn't until I looked at her and said we are still eating our meal. She then stayed away from our table never to reappear until we were looking for the check. I'm not sure if she didn't understand English because our drink order was not the correct one, but we just drank it. We're not going back to this restaurant. It's just our opinion. We also wanted to try their biscuit since they were known for their biscuits but sad to say they don't have an order menu where you can just order the biscuit on the side or at least that's what Valerie, our waitress told us. read more

Having recently dined at TH in Knoxville, I had high expectations. Everything we ordered was too salty, as any cook knows there's no coming back after overly salted food. The manager only showed up to "clear" away some of the dishes. He made no mention of our comments regarding the food. Looking forward to going back to TH in Knoxville.
