We have come here a lot. The last time may just be our last time. The server was terrible. NEVER refilled our drinks after having to wait to get some in the first place. Then once we paid he just took the glasses away never asking if we wanted more to drink. Then we were promptly ignored for the next hour we were there finishing up and talking. He took our signed receipt and cleared our table 45 minutes before we left. They were not busy at all. It was horrible. read more

I usually eat in the Denison location regularly (at least weekly) . But here in mckinney only on occasions, today at noon was an occasion while in a hurry to a funeral. Food was great. Ordered just lunch special chicken fried steak with 1 side , one for me and. one for wife. Food was fast and great but when ready to leave I had to go to the desk to ask for check. When looking then I was also charged for the 2- sides extra and waitress (of course I overheard her say I'm so ready to go home when I was trying to get her attention for the check) anyway the waitress cover charged and argued about what I had when I showed her the bowls and plate and tries to explain what I had for lunch. The items listed incorrectly and overcharged like I said for our food. I just threw an extra $5 on the table and walked. I know good or any help is hard to find at this time but I tell you that when issuing a check please double check all its ans if you don't know the pricing as a waitress GET A MENU AND READ IT AS YOU BILL SOMEONE. this place is very sketchy. the waitress was asking where we were from and winked at my friend. buns were texas toast and it was soggy on my burger. the bacon was soggy not crispy, and the plate was hot but the food was cold. atmosphere was ok, but was still weird. i think this place is from the boondocks lol. read more

Generally like the Cotton Patch for a nice variety of food. Over the last couple of months we have run into some issues. We like to get there at 11am, so when you sit down and the tables are not clean and there are crumbs in the seats you know cleaning is a low priority. On our last visit there were not many tables, we sat down and other tables were seated after us. We waited about 10 minutes and no came to take our order, so we just got up and left. We've also had some cases where a normally quick lunch can turn into an hour at lunch. Will likely stay away and hopefully management can step up to fix these items. read more

I can understand the mask but they also check your temperature here. Wow. No one on this staff is medically trained to pressure a guest into taking your temperature. The hostess singled us out and did not take everyone's temperature that came through the door. Absolutely Discriminatory! If hostess does have medical training it needs to be posted. We have always enjoyed Cotton Patch until last evening. Will list the complaints. 1. Multiple tables were not cleared off. 2. Sat for a long time before someone came to take order. 3. Servers were standing around talking alot. 4. Did not bring right order. 5. People around us were complaining about various things. 6. Had to ask a couple of times for refills as did people around us. 7. Not many customers at all. Sorry to see this happen as of several months ago we really enjoyed going there. I've had mixed results at this restaurant. The chicken fried steaks are good. I just had the fish and chips, substituting onion rings for the fries: the onion rings were so salty I couldn't taste the onions and the Shiner-battered fish was tasteless. Have enjoyed CPC for years now, ever since we discovered the Frisco location behind Stonebriar and were thrilled when they built two even closer to home in McKinney and Allen. This location is crazy-packed on Friday nights (I assume for the much-needed Happy Hour specials!) and can take a while to get seated. Service is always friendly here IF a little haphazard - it seems like it can take a few minutes to get additional items like napkins, forgotten sauces on the side, replacement utensils, etc., but we always leave in a satisfied mood because of the FOOD! Amazing chicken and dumplings, chicken fried chicken, fried shrimp, meatloaf, salmon, yeast rolls, and don't forget the COCONUT CREAM PIE! We take my 78 year old mother-in-law here once a month (and she's a great cook in her own right) and she loves this place as does my six year old daughter. If you can please three generations in one mealtime, what is better than that? read more

I would encourage restaurants like this instead of immediately firing all of their staff and then being so understaffed that orders take an hour and a half, next time do your layoffs in waves. We went to Cotton Patch in McKinney on Monday, 11/13/17. Server was horrible. She was very friendly and nice, but would show up for a second and the disappear FOREVER! My water and my husband's tea glass never got refilled. We asked for butter and it took a ridiculous amount of time to get it. We came back today, 11/19/17 and had a different server. I won't mention her by name although I could. She had the personality of a tree stump and acted like everything we asked for was a major inconvenience. As a side, my mother got the baked squash and it had NO flavor at all. One of my sides was the broccoli casserole which tasted okay, but was cold. Their cornbread is also ridiculous. I should have listened to the reviews! I would have saved my family a horrible, dining experience. First of all, our server, Joseph (table 31) was completely non-attentive. When he finally brought our iced teas with lemon, there was hardly any ice and no lemon. I questioned him about the lemon, and he said that he needed to "make" the lemons. It took him 12 minutes to return with lemon wedges. I ordered a salad as an appetizer. It came with my meal... I ordered extra dressing and extra croutons. Well... no extra dressing was delivered, and no croutons at all came on the salad. I had to go find the waiter to inquire on both. He told me they were out of croutons. Really?!?? The meal was ok... chicken fried steak was good. The green beans were cold, the mashed potatoes were cold, and my black-eyed peas were so hot that I burned me tongue. Evil glares, BEWARE! I'm only giving this restaurant a 1star rating, because the ratings don't get any lower than that. I thought that this place would be a good place to eat, the chain has never disappointed. However this location did--It was terrible, while our server was great, there were other servers there that needed a bit of a lesson in etiquette and sensitivity when it comes to treating their dine-in patrons. I'm talking about two servers in particular that singled out my boyfriend and I out (I guess they have a personal problem with gay people). All my boyfriend and I did was sit next to each other, we weren't being obnoxious, making-out, or doing out of the ordinary things. We only wanted to eat and be treated like the civilized human beings we are. After being sat down at our booth, my boyfriend noticed two (2) servers glaring at us in a disgusting way. It made him very uncomfortable, to the point where it got me to think "what if they did something to our food"(which they didn't, the time to get sick from food poisoning has passed) but anyway, it was just these glares that we didn't approve of. I'd like to add that at the end of our meal, one of these servers approached us (AND ONLY US) to ask how our meal was. Which took us back, because she didn't ask in a sincere manner, she asked in a manner that felt sort of like a mockery. It was as if she wanted to add something negative to the end of it. We answered her question, she forcefully grinned and walked away. We looked at her as she left and she didn't stop at any other table to ask them how their meal was--tables that had clearly finished eating. When we had finished and paid out we were walking out toward the door, that's when my boyfriend realized he had forgotten something, and as he walked back, this very same server gave him the ugliest glare, a glare full of disgust. I know this because I kept watching her looking at him. I was about to confront her and ask her, if she had a problem with us, but I didn't want to make it worse than it already was. One thing I did find incredibly disgusting was the other server who also gave us an evil glare, rolled her eyes, when her section was seated with an African-American family that had a disabled member in their party. My heart sank for that family, that is terrible, dehumanizing and altogether WRONG! Never mind the issue with sexual orientation, this was a case of under the counter racism and prejudice. I am thoroughly disgusted with this particular location and the chain for that matter! The whole experience was dampened by this situation--this restaurant could have at least earned 3 stars from me, for the food, and our server being really friendly. Yet, because of those two servers, that don't have the proper etiquette to deal with people from different walks of life, I can't give it a decent rating. My suggestion is to have a sensitivity training day for your employees, if your servers are uncomfortable dealing with Gay customers or customers that aren't like them, then they should not be in the food service industry, they need to pick an industry where they won't deal with people at all! I've been back a few times since and it never any better than "alright". The food quality and service are just no quite up to par for some reason. I was confused if I accidentally ordered off the kids menu but I double checked and this was an adult meal. I barely got any fries, a half of scoop of green beans, and barely any chicken and dumplings. I was confused at first thinking the chicken and dumplings were a side and they had got my order wrong, no it was my entree'! I will not be providing my business here again. I am searching for home cooked style comfort food, since Blackeyed Pea closed. I've tried this restaurant three times, the first time, the squash casserole had spots of flour on it and was dry, and the chicken fried steak was way overdone. Tonight I tried meatloaf and it was badly burned, I gave the squash casserole another chance, it was worse than the first, full of sugar, way too much, and gummy like raw batter, and the mashed potatoes were over peppered and had no decent flavor. I sent back the meatloaf and received a less burned piece. When I asked for my check, I was told it was taken care of. Good thing because I was beginning to be nauseated from my attempt to eat the food. Didn't finish anything, it was so bad. Servers and manager were all great, but the cook needs lessons. read more

Nasty and dirty....never again. Walk in on a Sunday at 12:15 there was no wait hostess took us around the entire restaurant only to sit us at a table we had already passed. Walked the entire place and you could hear the sticky floor. Or shoes were sticking to the floor. She takes to table and it's a dirty one so she asks us to wait standing by table. Not easy to do with 3 boys following a baseball tournament who are starving and one is 4 years old thirsty and wanting to eat. 5 mins later it's cleaned. Yes 5 mins later. We sit down and wait....9 mins later finally someone comes to take a drink order. Wait for drinks about 10 mins get drinks finally. Food order hasn't even been placed because our waitress is dealing with a huge table that is complaining. It's now 12:50 and finally our waitress comes to take order and we wait. Food order goes in 15 mins later bread and salad arrives as we are passing the bread plates out we get two dirty dishes. No big deal my boys are starving my husband and I pass on the bread and they use our plates. Food arrives after about 10 more minutes and it was cold. The kids cheese burgers looked like a sad patties with processed cheese and wilted lettuce. The fruit cup bananas were not brown but closer to black but they covered that up with the strawberries. I had the veg plate and everything is from a can or frozen. They didn't even bother to season it. If this is home cooking then they need to find another home to mimic cause the food was less than a one star. I don't blame the waitress she was very sweet and apologetic throughout the meal for all the delays but definitely not $70 worth of food. read more
