Brisket sandwich was a complete disappointment! All i got was bread and a few tiny pieces of meat. There was a drop of bbq sauce. The sandwich wasn't even acceptable for a kids meal size. The picture of the sandwich on the website was 10 times bigger. I showed the server and she said that she would get me a plate of more brisket. Waited 30 minutes and still didn't get any meat. My grandson and I had lunch and for a very picky boy he kept saying how good his meal was. My chicken and dumplings were the way southern women expect them to be. But after my experience today, I can say with confidence that those reviews don't tell the whole story and that's all thanks to Bailey. From the moment I walked in, Bailey was incredibly nice, funny, and genuinely welcoming. She brightened up my entire day without even trying. I mentioned the bad reviews I'd seen, and instead of getting defensive, she put her hope and faith in the food and assured me I'd enjoy it. That alone made me feel better about giving the place a chance. I've been ordering takeout from them for going on two years and I like their food though I'd say about a third of the time they forget the toppings for the baked potatoes which is no big deal and it has gotten better this year. However, last night, while I got the toppings, both entrées were missing the baked potatoes. Additionally, instead of unsweet tea, I received sweet tea or maybe they were running out of unsweetened at the time and mixed in some sweet tea to make up for it? Might not be a big deal to a lot of people, but I really dislike sweet tea so that went in the sink. I have been craving Cotton Patch, so when we passed by this location today and saw they had a "drive thru" we knew that was our sign to grab lunch! The way this location handled to-go orders by drive thru was, you pull up to the designated drive thru area and wait for a member of staff to come out to you. They take your order (they'll bring a menu upon request or you can browse it online), then you park your vehicle in the front of the building and wait for it to be cooked. It took about 25 minutes which is great timing for Cotton Patch. Everything is made fresh and there were others waiting before us as well. No issues with waiting at all, our beverages were brought out for us to sip while waiting in our truck. Our lunch order consisted of Chicken fried chicken (sandwich) and chicken fried steak (fingers). Both with fries, a side of okra and Mac and cheese. With sweet tea. We waited a long time to be served and found out it was because 6 of their waitresses were in the bathroom doing TikToks in front of the mirror. It was so bad my partner wasn't even able to use the restroom because they were taking up so much space and refused to leave. There was one server manning the entire restaurant, we felt so bad for her! (She was great though) They thought it was hilarious that they got caught by a customer. Our experience at Cotton Patch in Wylie TX on Tuesday March 28, 2023 was abysmal. After being seated, no server came to the table for several minutes, until someone finally noticed us and sent our server, who apologized, saying that she didn't realize that ours was one of her tables. Although the restaurant was only about 1/3 full when we arrived at 5:45, we were told that the rolls were "in the oven", and would be at least 7 minutes. How is it possible to already be out of baked bread at 5:45, with none even remotely close to coming out of the oven, when your restaurant is nowhere near full? When our entrees arrived, mine was incomplete, missing the sauce on the fish. When we finally managed to flag down our mostly AWOL server and asked her about it, we received a blank stare in return. "I don't know" was all she said. Not "let me get that fixed for you" or "I'm not sure, let me ask a manager". Just "I don't know", and then silence. We had to suggest that she go find someone who might know. Another 4 minutes passed by before a small styrofoam bowl of the sauce was brought to the table, now making my entree a "do-it-yourself" project, with warm sauce on a now quite cool fish. We also pointed out that the online menu says that there are 8 shrimp in my entree. It was served with 6 shrimp. Our water glasses sat empty throughout the entire time we were eating, until we finally flagged down a manager. If I could have located a water pitcher I would have gotten up and refilled our glasses myself. Poor menu execution, poor kitchen management, horrid service.
