Alright so there are some reviews that had me worried about this place, but I went last night with my friend and the only issue with this place is that it's definitely on the pricier side. However, we had some of the best food we've had in a while. The French onion soup is alone enough reason to go there because it's insane, the restaurant itself is very nice with ample seating. The staff were friendly and took our orders, the drinks were great. I have never written this in any review, but you have to get the soft serve. You're gonna see them taking out it nonstop, and I'm telling you now dear Yelp reader, just get the soft serve, don't be annoying. read more

Went there with my six year old daughter. It was 6PM and the restaurant was almost empty. We were both really excited to try it out. The maitre d saw my daughter and said that "little ones" were not usually allowed in the restaurant because there's nothing appropriate for them on the menu. (They have nothing about it not being kid-friendly on their website and they have hot dogs, salmon and soft serve on the menu.) The maitre d went into the back to see if they could make an "exception" for my daughter. The maitre d came back and said we got the exception but my daughter burst into tears because she understandably said "they don't want me to eat here." We left. read more

Went for all day HH on Sunday afternoon with a girlfriend, ambiance was nice! We got oysters ($3 per oyster on HH) which were fresh, fries (also good), short rib sandwich (delish!) and martinis (never met one I didn't like). I want to give them a higher rating because the food is fabulous and the ambiance is great. My main issue is with the 20% surcharge added to the bill. As stated on their site and on the bill "In an effort to benefit all Coucou employees, a surcharge of 20% will be added to each bill. This is not a tip or gratuity. This surcharge enables all Coucou employees to earn a living wage. A tip or gratuity is NOT expected." Why are customers responsible for a business providing a living wage for their employees? Isn't that the responsibility of the business owner to pay their employees that wage? To pass this responsibility on to the customer is asking a lot for very little in return and it's a major deterrent to supporting restaurants who do this. It honestly was the biggest turn off of the night to get the bill, hear the speech from our server about the charge (I'm sorry a 20% charge on a $74 bottle of wine you corked is outrageous) was just not cool and a downer. Although, at that point it made sense why our server only came by twice, we had to refill our own glasses of wine from the bottle we ordered, never got refills on water and overall had lackluster service. Kudos to the chef and kitchen for putting out quality food - but shame on management and investors for diminishing their hard work with mediocre service due to their inability or unwillingness to pay their employees decent hourly wages. read more

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We sat in the patio and it was just gorgeous. Beautiful ambiance, felt like sitting in my backyard. We had a wonderful server, I wish I remembered her name, she was the sweetest. The food was to do for and for dessert they recommended the chocolate mousse. It was easily the best chocolate mousse I've ever had. I still dream about it. We will definitely be back read more

This place is okay. The decor and ambience is very nice. But the vibe is completely dead - there were maybe 4-5 tables with diners on a Saturday night. The food was fine - not great, but not bad either. I order the steak frites for my main. The fries were good. The steak was nothing I'd order again. I also had the tuna tartare for an appetizer. It was fine. The bill came up to $250 for two people (including two glasses of wine each) - I don't think the food matched the price tag. Came here for brunch on Mother's Day. It's cute, but I would not say their brunch menu feels very "brunchy," it felt like all the options were extremely heavy. Now I get that it's French, but it's also LA/WeHo, a few lighter options would be nice, especially when it's 75°. Service was fine, nothing problematic, not outstanding. Patio area was cute, but nothing really stood out and not entirely sure the prices justified the experience. I'm totally dissatisfied with the service and situation which occurred during our dinner at this restaurant. From the begining the service was awful. But at the end we've got a bill and the waiter brought us a pen. My friend signed the bill, so did my husband and after we found out all their hands and clothes are in the black ink. The pen was broken with all around it so we asked for the manager. He came 20 minutes after and was very rude from the beginig. Without any excueses was trying to explain us that it is a broken pen which is clear as mud and I can see it on my husbands hands. He started yeling on us that it's not his fault and was trying to left. I asked for his excuse for this disrespectful attitude from him and the place he represents but he ran away and disappeared! This is the story! So please respect yourself before visiting the places like this!!! read more

Honestly my fave spot to catch up with friends or have a cozy date night -- the menu has so many fresh versions of French classics (faves: the prawns, stuffed olives, mussels, fondue burger, short rib) and the drinks are great (faves: their dirty martini!!) Lots of cool thoughtful details make Coucou feel like a WeHo hidden gem, and the service is friendly and fun -- the kind of place that makes you want to order a bottle for the table, and then another bottle, and hey should we order desserts?? The restaurant and patio are cute and the drinks are very good but the service is terrible. I have been here 4 times and 3 out of the 4 had extremely long wait times for everything - taking the order, getting drinks, getting food. On a mostly empty Wednesday night it took about an hour and a half for the appetizers to come to the table. The servers and hosts are nice but the actual service is non existent. I would only come back for drinks or a dessert at the bar but the food is not tasty enough to deal with such poor service. read more

It was our first time visiting this restaurant and all seemed to be going well... until the bill came. Our polite server explained there was a 20% (yes, TWENTY PERCENT) surcharge added to the bill to help pay for restaurant expenses including wages. The tip was extra! I have occasionally seen a 3% surcharge but nothing like this. I ended up leaving another 5% and left the restaurant feeling like a cheapskate... after leaving a total 25% gratuity! Crazy. read more

The food was overly salty, almost non-edible - especially the tuna tartare, which I could not even finish, not to mention that the flavors were so numerous and not even harmonious. The hummus in the crudite apetizer was very salty too and the dish is nothing but boring, a bunch of cauliflower florets and 3 carrots with some hummus. The burger was "who cares" and the bone marrow was actually good except for the side vegetables that were, too, over salted. We didn't dare ordering a dessert. The bill came with a 20% surcharge and, of course, we added gratuity. It was such a disappointing experience especially because the restaurant had been so highly recommended. Food and drinks were both good. No complaints on quality! My issue is with the price and the service. I think the price is a bit steep for what you get in the area... if it was a bit cheaper, it would be a 4 or 5 star experience. Additionally the waitress herself was great but they need to work out the kinks with the service. Waited forever to get water (came after our drinks came) and it just felt like they didn't have enough staff to provide a good quality service. Sadly need to add my negative review to this restaurant. Had brunch there and we were literally the only diners for about an hour before two parties showed up. Service was actually excellent but that 20% service charge is offensive. I'd much rather the management increase prices of menu items and "hide" it in those prices than throw that separately onto the bill. The bill says 20% service charge does not include tip or gratuity and that "tip/gratuity is not expected." What does that truly mean especially when they still give you a credit card receipt to sign (even with Apple Pay) with a space for tip. I felt obligated to still leave a tip since I strongly believe in tips and I am not sure what my server ultimately gets from that service charge; so I left an additional 20% tip off the bill minus that service charge. we had dinner on friday night and paid cash. the worst experience. the food was cold. and the service was even worse. we. giovanni there early and no valet or valet sign .when we came out our car was towed and the valet said we were in valet zone. we parked at a meter with no valet sign. we are handicapped and displayed a handicap blue sign. The valet told us he had the car towed. we paid $266 plus uber dais and $58.0O parking fee.
