[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute space with outdoor seating as you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated inside - reminiscent of a modern French bistro.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I kinda almost wished it was more lived in (like the ones they have in Paris / NY).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Overall a nice night out - but nothing was so amazing that it would make me come back (since I live across town). But delicious French fare. My faves of the night were the steak tartare and the burger. Others in my party really liked the zucchini beignets (I wasn't the biggest fan - perhaps too mushy?) and they enjoyed the mussels. Service was fine - but found it odd she brought us our check without even asking if we wanted dessert (which we did and had the sundae).

Ugh, I wish my friends and I had a better time here last night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is super cute and decorated well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our drinks were the highlight and tasted great. The food was average, with the fries being the star of the show. Service was friendly, but struggled. Twice, food that we didn't order was brought to our table. This was a bit awkward given than there only 2 other tables there and we had already eaten and asked for the bill. Then, the bill! First, they brought out another tables check to us. Okay, fine. Then, they brought out our bill, but overcharged us. So, a third bill had to be brought out. Also, not a fan of their 20% included gratuity which we knew about going in. Another thing that I don't agree with is their happy hour menu. They state the 3 for $33, however there are still prices listed for each of the happy hour menu items. So, when our table ordered 2 of the 3 for $33 items and then one additional drink from the happy hour menu, they proceeded to charge us the full $20 for the drink price from their dinner menu. Unreal, and bad customer service from my perspective.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Coucou is undeniably charming, and the service was one of the highlights of the night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came with two friends to celebrate a birthday, and our servers handled every issue with kindness and professionalism, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. The French onion dip and whipped cheese were both delicious and easily our favorite starters. The mussels, however, tasted sandy and dirty, and we had to send them back. Our server mentioned they had received a similar complaint the day before, which was disappointing to hear. I ordered the steak frites medium-rare, but it arrived well done. After sending it back, the replacement was much better. The fries were crispy and probably one of the stronger savory dishes. The salmon was just okay--it leaned too heavily into a fishy, saffron-forward flavor. The artichoke hearts tasted almost entirely of lemon and lacked texture and depth. The truffle Brussels sprouts were good, but I was hoping for a much stronger truffle flavor. The cocktails were great, but dessert completely stole the show. The soft serve and chocolate mousse were easily the best things we ate all night and ended the meal on a high note. Overall, Coucou nails the ambiance and provides excellent service, but the food was inconsistent enough that I wouldn't return for dinner. I'd happily come back for drinks and dessert, but that's about it.

I remember this one time passing Coucou and making a mental note to try the place out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It had an inviting vibe, warm and sophisticated, and kind of relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus, the odor from the place was enticing, like fresh baguettes coming from the oven.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bread was not the odor that wafted from the place, I wish to clarify. it was more to spotlight that this place had an odor that is enticing like recently push out bread. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place's specific odor was more akin to a savory French affair where grilled onions lined a bed, not crimson red petals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And according to many reels and swipe-by articles this place is suppose to have a sundae that is a dessert must, Willy Wonka would approve apparently. And although I have good things to say about this place, in the final tally this place left something to be desired, namely a deent entree. So I will say , to paraphrase a cereal commercial, this place did not leave me saying I am coo coo for Coucou. As I approached the place, I re-again absorb it to be a quaint eatery for lazy dinners. But of course understand that when I imagine the French lounging, especially in relation to fine eateries, I imagine queens and other royals of fine pedigree lounging in Victorian furniture, while in full dress, like the one the Volturi wore or Maria Antoinnette. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So in this regard this place delivers easy comfort that is luxurious in silent throb.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was dining solo. I was sat in the main room. It was too cold to be outside, even if a nice heater was provided and I am not much of my feet hanging on a stool person. However, all these options were offered to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I first ordered their onion soup, the onion tartatine, I think. And this is one of the dishes that I want to like more than I do. For you see, I love grilled onion, and gruyere and toasted bread, but, the soup although good in general runs boring quick. But before I get to explaining more on this point let me put a burning spotlight on the first flaw of the soup: it was scolding hot. Like I took a few bites and felt the burn of its heat burn my tongue. And at the risk of sounding like someone worthy of the guillotine for being too precious to have a head on my shoulders, my tongue remembered and felt the burn the next day. But after eating spoonfuls of varying degrees of soup heat, I could not continue with the soup. It was the same taste spoonful after spoonful. And with the burnt pairings in between I could not do much more but leave it behind. But then I saw a neighbor who had the soup but also had a small bowl of chips. I asked my server I could have some as he delivered another small bowl to my neighnors. He said sure. He offered my neighbor a bowl and she said no and I got those chips. I then put the house chips (that went with the caviar dish as I later found out) into my soup and the experience had change. Now, the soup had crunch, that rich onion flavor that I loved, and I also was surprised with mouthfuls of bread. My once forgotten soup had regained purpose because I had added chips. I know what some will say. I was a brute of the village because I debased a work of art with a marker. I mean I did put chips in a french classic! And to them I said--- the rule of eating that stands above all rules: Eat in which ever manner allows you to enjoy your food most, period. Thus, I took the resources around me to build a plate- or a bowl as the case may be that I loved. Plus, the chips demanded that I have a coke, so the expeirence became complete, in terms of what I was enjoying. And as a last stroke of proof, the woman besides, who had the soup, lefts hers halfway finished. I left my bowl clean. Thus, from that perspective who has the best outlook- the one who made it possible to have an empty bowl, or the one who left her bowl half full? I also had their steak and fries. And I hate to be so direct and curt--- but the steak was the mishap of the night. The flavor was there. The flavor was strong. The flavor was rich and succulent. But the actual steak was tough. Like I held it down with the knife, I held it down with the fork, and as I was cutting it, the plate moved, I knocked off a glaze saucer, one of those small ones that hold ketchup. Someone had to clean up the myself and steak mess, with a rag. The roughness of the steak had casualties. The server was like yeah, it happens with our steak, it being tough. People will ask for it to be butterflied or cut in slices. I should have done that. The steak was the series of bite that broke the spell of my Parisian night. The dessert, as promised, was a delight. The barely frozen fudge strips atop the ice cream were a simple and indulgent. The chocolate sauce was familiar and rich. And their cherry compote, maybe?. was a simple yet unique texture and flavor that elevated the dish to a dessert worthy of a Parisian table. Its cute mint holder was a treat too! First course- I worked for my flavor, second course the fries were better and third course muah!

My mom and I came here for Apero Hour on Christmas Eve. We were absolutely blown away! For starters, Michelle and Daniel were so lovely -- extremely friendly and attentive, and made sure we had such a fantastic time. The space is so beautiful, you truly feel like you're stepping into a little cafe in Paris. I love the paintings on the walls, the little tables, the small lamps on the tables, even the bathroom framed in conversational rooster art is so fun and adorable. And the food, oh, the food. The apero hour is an amazing deal -- 3 items for $33. I got a dirty martini, tuna tartare, and zucchini beignets. My mom got an espresso martini, short rib quesadilla, and pommes frites. We also added on the whipped cheese and the ice cream sundae, the latter of which I'd seen all over social media and let's just say it did not disappoint! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions are huge -- we took a bunch home with us! I especially loved the zucchini beignets which were sweet and tangy, and the sundae with soft serve ice cream and three different do it yourself toppings was out of this world. I honestly can't wait to come back. This is one of my new favorite spots in LA for sure!

Came here for their pick 3 for $33 happy hour. The service here was really great, and the deal on drinks is awesome. I feel as if their food portions during happy hour was a bit small, but fine for the price. But I wouldn't say you are getting a deal on the food, it is mostly great for the drinks. Tried the tuna tartar which was delicious. The farmers cheese was a bit underwhelming. The short rib quesadilla was heavenly but a bit small but definitely the best item on the happy hour menu. The zucchini beignets were good but also not a great value for the price. The service here was quick and friendly and they checked on us many times. Overall, a good place for happy hour but not the best place in town.

I was so excited to try Coucou. However, the only star of the show was the ice cream and the French onion soup. The steak and fritz was not the best, we couldn't even cut the steak. Very chewy. The gnocchi was not the best either. The place has a nice charm to it and the decor is very cute. Service was good too. But the food, not so much. Parking is not easy to find either. Valet parking was $15, but they charged me $16 plus tip. Won't be returning anytime soon.

Had a nice dinner at CuoCuo in West Hollywood. The ambience was great, stylish but relaxed. We ordered oysters, tuna tartare, and steak frites. Service was good given that they include a 20% charge and most restaurants that do this, the services lacks. We enjoyed our server and his enthusiasm. The oysters and tartare were fresh and flavorful, and dessert was definitely a highlight. Definitely recommend getting the soft serve. Only downside: I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done, which was disappointing. Tough to eat and dry. Still, overall a good experience.

Came here for a girls' night out and absolutely loved it! The space is super aesthetic and the service was fantastic. I ordered the lobster spaghetti while my friend got the steak frites, both were delicious. The real highlight for us, though, was the sundae. Definitely don't skip it when you visit! The only downside is that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.

From looking at the online menu and not seeing any prices ?? had a feeling this was going to be an experience. Why hide the prices ? At the restaurant it really wasn't much better with the prices listed in the teeniest smallest type possible ?? Why continue to try and hide the prices ?? Then the 20% service charge "which isn't a tip" but an additional profit center. ?? And then to be taxed on the automatic service charge ??? My homegirls & I were looking for a cute restaurant to go for NYE and knew the ambiance at Coucou would be amazing but was hesitant on the food quality. I ordered the Braised Short Ribs and it was a hug in a meal. It was complimentary to the sides. The ice cream was also a big hit and super nostalgic. Would definitely recommend! read more

I have dined at Coucou three times and each experience was great! The first time was a private party on their delightful patio. They handeled our party with grace and finesse - even accomodating an audio request for a small birthday speech! The food was solid French. The second was at the bar. The martinis were wonderful and the shortrib was one of the best I've ever had. The last, was a dinner at an outside table. The service was again gracious and not rushed. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it arrived well done. It was quickly whisked away and replaced with a medium rare much to my liking. My only wish is that they would open for lunch. Service, meh. The dining room was empty but they sat us next to the kitchen at a cramped 2-top, despite another 2-top available by the window. Only 2 other tables were sat while we were there. It was our anniversary, which I noted on the reservation, and no one acknowledged it. No comps needed, just a simple thanks for dining with us on your special occasion would have been nice. Server never asked if we'd been there before or if we had any allergies. I'm glad my allergy is pretty easy to spot and avoid, but it could have been disaster for something more common. Vesper martinis were bland. Could have used a much more interesting gin. Tuna tartare was tasty with the right balance of citrus and spice, even then, I'm not sure I'd order it again. The haute dog's sausage was meh and over fried. The cheese fondue had congealed by the time it got to the table. Fries were fine with notably good aioli. Yelp just removed my previous review but here is a new one! Be aware of this place! This is the "innocent" but very rude and disrespectful manager of this facility who doesn't care about the business, guests and also very very aggressive! To be more specific they spilled an ink on my hands and clothes and this guy was very rude, yelling and declining to help and solve this problem! A Hostile and Disappointing Experience. I visited this restaurant on opening weekend and had a decent, if unremarkable, experience. The food was under-seasoned, which I noted privately via Resy as constructive feedback (not publicly posted). I made it clear I was excited about having a spot so close to home and was already planning to return once they have the kinks worked out. A few weeks later, I brought my neighbor here for her birthday, hoping to support the new business and introduce her to the neighborhood spot. Instead, I was met with blatant hostility. The owner brought up my feedback repeatedly in a passive-aggressive way, asking with a forced smile after each dish how I thought the seasoning was. The food was now overly salted, seemingly out of spite, and the behavior became so obvious that my 85 year old neighbor who is usually oblivious to things asked if something had happened between me and the restaurant. The entire experience was awkward, petty, and completely unprofessional. Feedback is part of running a business, and retaliating against customers is not only childish but also bad business. The restaurant is now empty most nights, and it's no mystery why. Instead of doubling down on pride, they should focus on improving the food and treating their customers with respect. There's potential here, but until they figure it out, I won't be back. There are many reviews below with constructive feedback that I think they should heed. read more

The ambiance was lovely. We sat outdoors in their very sweet patio space. The service was good and not intrusive. They were there when we needed something but did not stop by multiple times to check on us. But the food was mediocre. Not particularly tasty but the prices were that of a top drawer restaurant. For me personally, tho the service and environment were really nice, when the food is not good I am not going to return. read more

I dined here the other night with my friend from Paris to gauge authenticity. The location was a former popular Indian restaurant however they reconfigured the layout and added an exterior design element. They also switched the entrance to the opposite side from SaMo Blvd. I didn't really notice parking however they must have an adjacent lot or valet available. We were greeted and seated inside adjacent to a swinging kitchen door. The dining room inside is fairly small and acoustically challenged as loud tables prevail and make it difficult to have a conversation at your own table. You're also seated quite close to other tables which is a recent WeHo trend thats disliked by most. The service was attentive and informative. They made suggestions and were helpful overall. I ordered the zucchini beignets which were just OK - heavily fried with a mashed inside. Not a favorite by any means in regard to taste. My main dish was the Dorade fish (a white fish bream) and I thankfully ordered a side of Brussels Sprouts. The fish arrived flanked and drizzled with tasty flavoring. The Brussels Sprouts were shavings of the actual vegetable seasoned with a lot of garlic. It would be the equivalent of a 1/4 portion as compared to other restaurants. Overall I found the service to be good - they do charge 20% on your bill automatically. Although they do inform me personally of this charge, it was done after they charged my card. They also did write on the bill that no additional gratuity is required. Still, I left more as it was a bit uncomfortable. Not sure I'd return although I do appreciate their investment. They have a sister location in Venice that is less active from what I hear. read more

They say they have the "Perfect Martini" and it was! They blend 2 gins and it works. I had the lobster spaghetti, which was ok...just a few little pieces of lobster and if I hadn't know it was supposed to be there...I wouldn't have noticed..but it was a tasty dish. My friend had the short rib and it was EXCELLENT. Good service, nice atmosphere. Loud...but ok because energy was good. Nice decor. I would return and order the short rib or burger which looked great when it passed by. read more

Everything that I ordered was perfect. The cook and flavors were on point. I like that it was different compared to all the other basic French restaurants in LA. The staff were really amicable, had great attention to detail, and had great intuitions--they even gave us a complimentary sundae at the end which was amazing (you should def order it). Chocolate mousse was a perfect texture and was not too sweet which I really like. The steak frites was like no other, I like the choice in lean cut, the tuna tartare was really fresh and had great spices, the lobster spaghetti was unique, but really flavorful, and the mussels were cooked in some really good broth. Also the perfect martini, was really perfect. Some will be afraid of these new fragrances/herbs/spices, but if you open your mind a little, you'll see how great this place is. Based on what I read from the reviews, the service charge is what most people complain about, but the food and service really compensate for it. +isn't it just nicer and a better vibe when the employees are paid properly and are happier? read more

I'm not a HUGE review person but this place sucked so bad that I have to say something. The food was so mediocre not even worth the wait. The lobster spaghetti tasted like gasoline I kid you not. The drinks were OK probably the best thing we had. Zucchini, salad, both so mid at best. The tuna tartare did not taste fresh at all. LOVE CouCou!!! My second visit the other night was just as wonderful as the first a few weeks before -- and I'm going back next week to introduce yet another friend to the delights of this terrific restaurant! It will now be my go-to restaurant in West Hollywood. Such a charming patio, perfect for al fresco dining. The zucchini beignets were out of this world, onion soup delicious, brussels sprouts beautifully roasted, my steak frites were cooked to a perfect rare turn, and the lobster spaghetti was literally inhaled by one of the friends I was with. They, too, will definitely be back. The staff could not be more accommodating, helpful with choices, efficient, and helped make the CouCou experience even more memorable. Food was good, service was great, the ambiance was cozy and welcoming. The patio was nice. If not for the two complaints below I would have given 4 stars. Two complaints: 1) the bistro tables inside are awkwardly small for dinner service (chairs were uncomfortable too). If you're going to seat us at these tables I suggest timing the appetizers and meals appropriately so they're not all on the table at the same time jig sawing your way to fit them all on, or having to push two tables together; And 2) they add a 20% service fee to your bill (and add it as a line item so you're taxed on it). Although this is fairly common now, it's still annoying and a deceptive practice- just raise your prices. read more

Food is hit or miss.. Mussels were great , so the bone marrow . Everything else was pretty bad . Burger was dripping with very sourly acidy sauce . First I thought I can just scrape it off but the whole bun was soaked in it. Cauliflower dish also had a lot of pickled vegetables, and the spices completely overpowered the taste. Truffle Brussels sprouts were just deep fried sprouts with no hint of any truffle taste . I thought the wine selection was pretty bad but I guess Im not a big fan of French wines in general. I just came back from a stellar gathering in the outdoor patio and had the best time. Built in heat lamps kept us warm and food and service was incredible. We had pizza with escargot and bacon (wow), tuna tartar, and the most delicious burgers ever. Crazy desserts too! The drinks are fantastic and really creative too! Coucou is a celebration of aperitif culture. Inspired by the timeless bars and bistros of France, Coucou intersects traditional French fare with Coastal California produce and classic cocktails. We started Coucou in 2023 with a simple idea: bring a little bit of Parisian charm to our hometown of Los Angeles. Inspired by countless meals at our favorite neighborhood gem in Paris - Café Charlot - we set out to create a space that felt just as inviting: unpretentious, indulgent, and full of character. We’re proud Angelenos through and through. Our owner, Jesse Feldman, grew up just a few blocks from the original Venice location on Ashland Avenue in Santa Monica. Coucou is our love letter to comfort food made with care, martinis without pretense, and the kind of everyday dining that feels like a special occasion. From our burger to our bistro classics, everything is rooted in honest ingredients and a genuine love of good food and good company. We began with the Zucchini Beignets, which were golden, crisp, and delicate--perfectly balanced by the tangy chevre, savory olivade, and a drizzle of Eli's honey that added just the right touch of sweetness. The fresh mint brought it all together beautifully. The Truffle Brussels Sprouts were addictive--rich with vadouvan and truffle oil, yet not overwhelming, and finished with just the right amount of sea salt. For entrées, we shared two standout dishes: the Lobster Spaghetti and the Steak Frites. We happened to walk by and were warmly greeted by James, who also turned out to be our server. His gracious hospitality set the tone for the evening, as he made sure we had a perfect table on the patio, comfortably situated near a heater and even accommodating our dog, Lola. The seafood tower was a showstopper--fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The steak frites were perfectly cooked, and my wife declared her dirty martini the best she's had in ages. The ambiance on the patio was cozy and chic, but the interior of the restaurant was equally stunning. From the inviting bar to the luxe details in the restroom, including Flamingo Estate hand soap, every detail was thoughtfully curated. we had the most incredible experience ar coucou. the cocktails were outstanding (BEST vesper I have ever had and it's my favorite drink), the food was Devine, the service was impeccable. we ordered the zucchini beignets and the whipped farmers cheese to start, OMG these were mind blowing. Then we ordered the steak frites, gnocchi, and braised short ribs, i cannot even tell you how insane this food was. I am salivating just remembering it. I cannot wait to go back. Why oh why does a restaurant think adding a 20% gratuity is okay? A tip is for service received. 15-20% of the bill is pretty normal. But the assumption that it should be added without totally takes away from the diner being able to add more for great service or less for sub par (not saying it was...) But the idea is that the guests determine. If you can't pay your staff a living wage, charge more. And yes. This is why people aren't going out as much anymore and restaurants are failing! read more

I've been to both locations and they are both consistently delicious! The Weho space is gorgeous with art on the walls and a heated outdoor patio - climbing jasmine and warm bistro lighting. The menu is a bit larger than Venice, and we love the specials they sometimes feature - Steak au Poivre - yum! Ishmael was a great waiter and the food was delicious however our drinks and food took forever to reach our table, and when we asked other staff members to assist us, (even in bringing extra silverware to the table because we were short) since I believe our waiter was the only one working indoors, and we were denied assistance!
