Okay...food- amazing! 5 stars for sure. Service- not so impressive. Maybe 3 stars. Sat down, no one came by for a while. Drinks took 15-20 minutes to arrive after being ordered. One of the meals seemed to have been forgotten and was added later. Not a lot of check ins to see how things are going. At the end, got charged for a whole bottle of alcohol $84 that we didn't order. Good thing I checked the bill and was able to let them know. So definitely not the best service. Not sure I love the idea of this 20% already added on the bill. I think the server needs to earn the tip they receive. But back to the food! So delicious. The fried olives were a good snack to munch on while we waited rather long for our drinks. The zucchini beignets were so good. Moist and flavorful inside with a little crunch on the outside. Definitely recommend starting with those. The steak was juicy and flavorful. Hubby really enjoyed his burger.

My favorite dish was the short rib. Melted off straight onto your fork, complimented perfectly with the mashed potatoes and veggies. And then dessert! The soft serve was delicious. Although pouring the chocolate all over makes it...

Had a terrible experience during martini Monday. Food was just ok but not good enough to make up for our servers terrible attitude. While we were ordering, she was about one second away from rolling her eyes the entire time. Even before "martini gate" happened. When I asked if I could get a gin martini instead of vodka because I don't drink gin: at first, she said "I can ask but they might say no," and then I said, "OK ask" and then she said she would not ask. I don't know what changed in 30 seconds but that was par for the rest of the night. I ordered another drink, which was pure sugar (not how a vesper should be made, I make them at home.) When drinks were brought out, they brought an extra martini and we thought that it might be the waitress being nice and ringing in a gin so we took a sip. About 10 min later, the server came over and said it was a mistake that the extra martini was delivered and we said "don't worry about it...Someone will drink it" to which she replied you'll be charged for it. Which like who charges for their own mistake? So we let her take it. I'm pretty sure I saw her put it up on the beverage well again to be delivered to another table. It had been on our table for over 10 minutes.

To be fair, the zucchini beignet was good. The burgers were average, and the hotdog, while inventive, fell short. Aside from our server, all of the buses and food runners were so kind. But our server that had the bad attitude was...

was just okay--it leaned too heavily into a fishy, saffron-forward flavor. The artichoke hearts tasted almost entirely of lemon and lacked texture and depth. The truffle Brussels sprouts were good, but I was hoping for a much stronger truffle flavor. The cocktails were great, but dessert completely stole the show. The soft serve and chocolate mousse were easily the best things we ate all night and ended the meal on a high note. Overall, Coucou nails the ambiance and provides excellent service, but the food was inconsistent enough that I wouldn't return for dinner. I'd happily come back for drinks and dessert, but that's about it.

I came to CouCou on a solo date, [[HIGHLIGHT]]it was a small intimate casual French bistro but the vibes were classy & great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came on a Friday around 5:30, with a resveration, hostess was sweet and quick, server was sweet, the service wasn't so quick but nothing to complain about because it gave me time to look at the menu and decide what I want. Overall the happy hour deal was nice, I got the steak tartare a perfect portion for one, it was dressed nice with some crostini bread. Coucou cosmo was a nice and pretty strong, the burger with cheese was 8/10 I did cut through it a bit but I don't mind getting messy. It was a tad salty with the cheese, but the fries helped balance.

I definitely want to try the steak frites next time! Overall I will be back! Thank you CouCou

Overall a nice night out - but nothing was so amazing that it would make me come back (since I live across town). But delicious French fare. My faves of the night were the steak tartare and the burger. Others in my party really liked the zucchini beignets (I wasn't the biggest fan - perhaps too mushy?) and they enjoyed the mussels. Service was fine - but found it odd she brought us our check without even asking if we wanted dessert (which we did and had the sundae).

The food was average, with the fries being the star of the show. Service was friendly, but struggled. Twice, food that we didn't order was brought to our table. This was a bit awkward given than there only 2 other tables there and we had already eaten and asked for the bill. Then, the bill! First, they brought out another tables check to us. Okay, fine. Then, they brought out our bill, but overcharged us. So, a third bill had to be brought out. Also, not a fan of their 20% included gratuity which we knew about going in. Another thing that I don't agree with is their happy hour menu. They state the 3 for $33, however there are still prices listed for each of the happy hour menu items. So, when our table ordered 2 of the 3 for $33 items and then one additional drink from the happy hour menu, they proceeded to charge us the full $20 for the drink price from their dinner menu. Unreal, and bad customer service from my perspective.

I remember this one time passing Coucou and making a mental note to try the place out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place's specific odor was more akin to a savory French affair where grilled onions lined a bed, not crimson red petals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And according to many reels and swipe-by articles this place is suppose to have a sundae that is a dessert must, Willy Wonka would approve apparently. And although I have good things to say about this place, in the final tally this place left something to be desired, namely a deent entree. So I will say , to paraphrase a cereal commercial, this place did not leave me saying I am coo coo for Coucou. As I approached the place, I re-again absorb it to be a quaint eatery for lazy dinners. But of course understand that when I imagine the French lounging, especially in relation to fine eateries, I imagine queens and other royals of fine pedigree lounging in Victorian furniture, while in full dress, like the one the Volturi wore or Maria Antoinnette. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So in this regard this place delivers easy comfort that is luxurious in silent throb.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was dining solo. I was sat in the main room. It was too cold to be outside, even if a nice heater was provided and I am not much of my feet hanging on a stool person. However, all these options were offered to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I first ordered their onion soup, the onion tartatine, I think. And this is one of the dishes that I want to like more than I do. For you see, I love grilled onion, and gruyere and toasted bread, but, the soup although good in general runs boring quick. But before I get to explaining more on this point let me put a burning spotlight on the first flaw of the soup: it was scolding hot. Like I took a few bites and felt the burn of its heat burn my tongue. And at the risk of sounding like someone worthy of the guillotine for being too precious to have a head on my shoulders, my tongue remembered and felt the burn the next day. But after eating spoonfuls of varying degrees of soup heat, I could not continue with the soup. It was the same taste spoonful after spoonful. And with the burnt pairings in between I could not do much more but leave it behind. But then I saw a neighbor who had the soup but also had a small bowl of chips. I asked my server I could have some as he delivered another small bowl to my neighnors. He said sure. He offered my neighbor a bowl and she said no and I got those chips. I then put the house chips (that went with the caviar dish as I later found out) into my soup and the experience had change. Now, the soup had crunch, that rich onion flavor that I loved, and I also was surprised with mouthfuls of bread. My once forgotten soup had regained purpose because I had added chips. I know what some will say. I was a brute of the village because I debased a work of art with a marker. I mean I did put chips in a french classic! And to them I said--- the rule of eating that stands above all rules: Eat in which ever manner allows you to enjoy your food most, period. Thus, I took the resources around me to build a plate- or a bowl as the case may be that I loved. Plus, the chips demanded that I have a coke, so the expeirence became complete, in terms of what I was enjoying. And as a last stroke of proof, the woman besides, who had the soup, lefts hers halfway finished. I left my bowl clean. Thus, from that perspective who has the best outlook- the one who made it possible to have an empty bowl, or the one who left her bowl half full? I also had their steak and fries. And I hate to be so direct and curt--- but the steak was the mishap of the night. The flavor was there. The flavor was strong. The flavor was rich and succulent. But the actual steak was tough. Like I held it down with the knife, I held it down with the fork, and as I was cutting it, the plate moved, I knocked off a glaze saucer, one of those small ones that hold ketchup. Someone had to clean up the myself and steak mess, with a rag. The roughness of the steak had casualties. The server was like yeah, it happens with our steak, it being tough. People will ask for it to be butterflied or cut in slices. I should have done that. The steak was the series of bite that broke the spell of my Parisian night. The dessert, as promised, was a delight. The barely frozen fudge strips atop the ice cream were a simple and indulgent. The chocolate sauce was familiar and rich. And their cherry compote, maybe?. was a simple yet unique texture and flavor that elevated the dish to a dessert worthy of a Parisian table. Its cute mint holder was a treat too! First course- I worked for my flavor, second course the fries were better and third course muah!

My mom and I came here for Apero Hour on Christmas Eve. We were absolutely blown away! For starters, Michelle and Daniel were so lovely -- extremely friendly and attentive, and made sure we had such a fantastic time. The space is so beautiful, you truly feel like you're stepping into a little cafe in Paris. I love the paintings on the walls, the little tables, the small lamps on the tables, even the bathroom framed in conversational rooster art is so fun and adorable. And the food, oh, the food. The apero hour is an amazing deal -- 3 items for $33. I got a dirty martini, tuna tartare, and zucchini beignets. My mom got an espresso martini, short rib quesadilla, and pommes frites. We also added on the whipped cheese and the ice cream sundae, the latter of which I'd seen all over social media and let's just say it did not disappoint! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions are huge -- we took a bunch home with us! I especially loved the zucchini beignets which were sweet and tangy, and the sundae with soft serve ice cream and three different do it yourself toppings was out of this world. I honestly can't wait to come back. This is one of my new favorite spots in LA for sure!

Came here for their pick 3 for $33 happy hour. The service here was really great, and the deal on drinks is awesome. I feel as if their food portions during happy hour was a bit small, but fine for the price. But I wouldn't say you are getting a deal on the food, it is mostly great for the drinks. Tried the tuna tartar which was delicious. The farmers cheese was a bit underwhelming. The short rib quesadilla was heavenly but a bit small but definitely the best item on the happy hour menu. The zucchini beignets were good but also not a great value for the price. The service here was quick and friendly and they checked on us many times. Overall, a good place for happy hour but not the best place in town.

I was so excited to try Coucou. However, the only star of the show was the ice cream and the French onion soup. The steak and fritz was not the best, we couldn't even cut the steak. Very chewy. The gnocchi was not the best either. The place has a nice charm to it and the decor is very cute. Service was good too. But the food, not so much. Parking is not easy to find either. Valet parking was $15, but they charged me $16 plus tip. Won't be returning anytime soon.

Had a nice dinner at CuoCuo in West Hollywood. The ambience was great, stylish but relaxed. We ordered oysters, tuna tartare, and steak frites. Service was good given that they include a 20% charge and most restaurants that do this, the services lacks. We enjoyed our server and his enthusiasm. The oysters and tartare were fresh and flavorful, and dessert was definitely a highlight. Definitely recommend getting the soft serve. Only downside: I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done, which was disappointing. Tough to eat and dry. Still, overall a good experience.

Came here for a girls' night out and absolutely loved it! The space is super aesthetic and the service was fantastic. I ordered the lobster spaghetti while my friend got the steak frites, both were delicious. The real highlight for us, though, was the sundae. Definitely don't skip it when you visit! The only downside is that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.

Coucou in Weho was a fantastic experience. The ambiance was cozy and romantic. I ordered the french onion soup (great presentation), steak frites, and the soft serve. I enjoyed all of the dishes, especially the steak. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and I enjoyed the caramelized onions sprinkled on top. Also, don't skip the soft serve for dessert! My group had an amazing time at CouCou for a holiday dinner celebration. We got there early and got drinks at the cute bar inside and the bartender was killing it and was clearly making drinks with such precision. We sat at one of the booths and ordered a ton of appetizers and entrees for the table. The space is nice and the food was decent but the addition of a 20% fee for service was not called out by the sever and I feel was devious. I get it's listed on sites and reservation platforms but this establishment is well aware they are misleading by not informing active diners and banking additional tips that were not merited. They also should never accept an additional tip of 20% without further clarifying their policy. In the end this is bad business and people shouldn't go to experience what would have otherwise been a decent engagement. Shameful practice. If the restaurant responds saying "you are never expected to tip" on this platform why aren't they doing so during service. read more

Tip is already included to the bill but due to that service is great and everyone act as one team to take care every customer is a great achievement compare to many other West Hollywood restaurant like Botega Louie only sells the vibe and not a great food or service with server provide only but attitude and not trained host to welcome customer. Coucou is a hidden gem in West Hollywood. I've been five times now, and every visit has been consistently excellent, from the food to the service to the overall vibe. Most recently, I dropped in for Martini Monday, where you get a martini and their incredible burger for $38. I went with the Vesper and the burger, cooked perfectly medium rare--exactly how I ordered it. The cocktail menu is reason enough to go. I'm a fan of the spirit-forward White Stallion (mezcal) and the French Old Fashioned, though if you're into sweeter drinks, I hear their Cosmo is also good. The food is solid across the board. Plump mussels, the L'Haute Dog (a delicious, elevated take on a hot dog made with Peads & Barnetts sausage), and even the hamachi ceviche, a surprising but strong dish for a French spot. Next on my list: the short ribs and gnocchi. As a WeHo local, I'm also really excited they're expanding their happy hour. With people dining out more selectively, it's nice to see thoughtful, affordable options that don't compromise on quality. Bonus points for the charming, dog-friendly patio and the chic indoor-outdoor bar setup that gives it a laid-back yet polished bistro feel. They include a 20% service charge and there's no tip expected--something that some reviewers seem unsure about, but I've always had it clearly explained. Honestly, I appreciate the transparency and love not doing math at the end of the night. If I could change one thing, I'd love to see the menu rotate more often, but with the new happy hour coming, that may be in the works. Support this place. It's one of the best French-inspired restaurants in West Hollywood and deserves to be way busier than it is. read more

Last night I went to Coucou for my birthday and it was a perfect evening. All four of us said that our meals were INCREDIBLE. The food is so good and beautifully presented. I could not believe how wonderful of an experience it was. Also, the atmosphere was wonderful, specifically the lamps and mood lighting. Lastly, the server was friendly and took care of everything we needed. Our group immediately said we would all go back again because we loved our meal so much. My sister and I each ordered the Filet Mignon Steak Au Poivre, and to quote my sister: "That might've been the best steak I've ever had!" read more

Extremely underwhelming experience here this evening. My friend arrived at 635 and I got there at 642. We wanted water and couldn't get someone to come to our table till 657. I asked for the manager to let her know no one approached us for over 20 minutes. She apologized once not particularly sincerely and asked if she could get us some drinks. We ordered drinks and entrees. The food came slowly but we had drinks so it didn't matter at that point. The food was fine, nothing was terrible, just not that tasty or special. The dessert was delicious. The check came. Automatic 20% gratuity and they didn't take care of the drinks which I thought she was offering when she initially said sorry. They truly do not care about the guest experience. If you know anything about providing good service they had an opportunity to turn this around so easily, but chose not to. Check was 200 for 2 people. I would spend my money elsewhere in the future when they care a bit about the guest or their experience. Will not go back, and I'm guessing based on the service and food, they probably won't be around that much longer. read more

I was excited about eating here. The leading reason why I am not giving a great review is mainly because of the staff. The only person who was really helpful was the bus boy. I had to ask ask for hot water numerous times. I asked to kindly be moved away from the seat right next to the door where I was freezing, but no one cared. The food was average at best. I really couldn't enjoy it because I was so cold. I really didn't have one person show any form of kindness or even a smile while we were there. It almost felt like they didn't really care if they had customers or not. The table for two was so tiny that we couldn't fit all of our food on it and there was food hanging off the edges of the table, which makes me wonder what they're doing with these table sizes. Definitely not a place I would go back to. read more

Everything was wonderful until we saw there was a 20% charge that our wonderful server didn't tell us about or the table next to us. Neither of us were happy about it and it was a turn off honestly. Many people that have gone to Cou Cou feel the same way. It's a thing... I live around the blk and am pretty close to the neighbors. People talk. As a business owner I would highly recommend that it is removed. There is already high turnover of the employees because they don't get tips many times. I wouldn't have minded if the 20% was the tip.... Is it? Last..... I would have rated this place 4 stars had the service charge not been there. It is the biggest turnoff. Sorry.... read more

Eating outside on the patio where we ordered drinks, then champagne to go with caviar and oysters, bone marrow and truffle brussel sprouts (I could have had another order easily) and steak frites. I arrived and was seated right away by the hostess but was not even glanced at or spoken to for 30 minutes. No water, nothing. It appeared that there was only 1 waiter for the entire patio and 1 runner. The patio was full and for nearly 10 minutes no server was present to the point that when they did come out, every single table pounced and tried to flag them down. Finally after the waiter came around, we asked to speak with the manger, who came out a few minutes later and apologized but didn't seem too shocked at the lack of service. She put our drinks and food in and again it took a long time for food and drinks to come. The food was good and plated well, though the table for 2 outside was so small that if we had ordered a third full dish it literally would not have fit. Sundae was great. But the surprising part was that they charged a mandatory 20% fee not as tip but as a charge to pay their employees and it was TAXABLE !! Overall, the food, drinks, and service were satisfactory; however, toward the end of our meal the hostess informed us that our table was needed. We had not been told about any time limit on our reservation, either beforehand or upon arrival, so this was surprising. When I asked about the policy, the hostess responded brusquely and said, "we were allowed to stay longer than we should be." Based on this experience, I am unlikely to return. Food was okay, drinks were good, but service was nonexistent. This past Friday, we were asked to wait an indefinite amount of time for our table (the server said it could be five minutes or it could be ten minutes). It ended up being 30+ minutes. We had to sit at one of the outdoor tables on a freezing night. There were heat lamps but they weren't very helpful. The blond female host was particularly rude. When we would check in on the status of our table, she would be visibly annoyed and say things like "like I JUST said, we are doing everything we can." This behavior might be acceptable if we had been badgering the staff repeatedly, but we only ever asked for an update when she came over to check to see if we needed anything. Also, they encouraged us to order drinks while we waited but we didn't even get them until we were finally at our correct table (30 min later). Dirty martinis and espresso martinis were good. We also had the bone marrow, fried olives, vodka pasta, and the soft serve. All were okay but nothing to write home about (except for the fried olives which I found quite good). read more

We heard the food was good and were concerned the ratings were not higher. However, after our service experience, it makes sense. Food is excellent, service is inconsistent at best. We arrived celebrating a birthday and the host was delightful in welcoming us, wishing a happy birthday and giving us our choice of tables. Jessy was our server and while she clearly knew the menu and was friendly, we had to search for her (my dining companion flagged down the host to help find our server) to request to order drinks and then it just continued... we had empty waters, no check backs on appetizers or entrees... bussers cleared plates and again, the host appeared with a special birthday dessert and candle. The server then returned and we ordered a second drink (would have had more if she was checking in during the entrees). The second drink was a lillet blanc (literally poured out of a bottle onto ice). It took over TWENTY MINUTES for the drink to be delivered. At one point, we asked Jessy for the drink (thinking she forgot) and she explained that the bartender was still "making it"... we then watched the prepared and ready drink sit on the bar for another 5+ minutes (Jessy was not visible in the dining room during this time) before it was delivered. Dessert had been long-finished and we simply requested the check. We loved the food (steak, frittes, onion soup, durade, artichoke hearts... all of it was delish!) but consistent service is a critical component of a meal (especially $$$) so we will not return. read more

From looking at the online menu and not seeing any prices ?? had a feeling this was going to be an experience. Why hide the prices ? At the restaurant it really wasn't much better with the prices listed in the teeniest smallest type possible ?? Why continue to try and hide the prices ?? Coucou is a celebration of aperitif culture. Inspired by the timeless bars and bistros of France, Coucou intersects traditional French fare with Coastal California produce and classic cocktails. The food menu was developed by Bouchon-alum Chef Jacob Wetherington. We started Coucou in 2023 with a simple idea: bring a little bit of Parisian charm to our hometown of Los Angeles. Inspired by countless meals at our favorite neighborhood gem in Paris - Café Charlot - we set out to create a space that felt just as inviting: unpretentious, indulgent, and full of character. We’re proud Angelenos through and through. Our owner, Jesse Feldman, grew up just a few blocks from the original Venice location on Ashland Avenue in Santa Monica. Coucou is our love letter to comfort food made with care, martinis without pretense, and the kind of everyday dining that feels like a special occasion. From our burger to our bistro classics, everything is rooted in honest ingredients and a genuine love of good food and good company. We happened to walk by and were warmly greeted by James, who also turned out to be our server. His gracious hospitality set the tone for the evening, as he made sure we had a perfect table on the patio, comfortably situated near a heater and even accommodating our dog, Lola. The seafood tower was a showstopper--fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The steak frites were perfectly cooked, and my wife declared her dirty martini the best she's had in ages. The ambiance on the patio was cozy and chic, but the interior of the restaurant was equally stunning. From the inviting bar to the luxe details in the restroom, including Flamingo Estate hand soap, every detail was thoughtfully curated. Why oh why does a restaurant think adding a 20% gratuity is okay? A tip is for service received. 15-20% of the bill is pretty normal. But the assumption that it should be added without totally takes away from the diner being able to add more for great service or less for sub par (not saying it was...) But the idea is that the guests determine. If you can't pay your staff a living wage, charge more. And yes. This is why people aren't going out as much anymore and restaurants are failing! read more
