I've been coming here for some time now, and it's been a pleasure to dine here each time. I've come mainly during breakfast, trying different entrées from the menu. Everything I've tried has been delicious and fills me up. I enjoyed the egg Benedicts and Breakfast Delights menu. My family enjoys the omelets and pancakes, especially the granola pancakes. I always have to get the home fries with any of the breakfast plates. I love the crispy and the tender pieces of the seasoned potatoes. The service and staff are friendly and attentive. They always ensure my coffee is topped off and hot and orders are prepared promptly. Dining here feels like a hometown diner, with a relaxed atmosphere and the decor and music to complement. There is also indoor and patio seating. I plan to try items from the lunch menu soon, but breakfast is my jam at this spot. read more

My son and I came here for breakfast. He ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the ABC Omelet. The food was too greasy. I've never had such a greasy omelet before. My son's burrito was just mediocre...he said it wasn't bad but it wasn't good. The service was okay, nothing spectacular. It was worth trying, buy I don't think we'll be coming back. read more

Service: came after church in a party of 5 adults with 2 children. the wait time was 20-25 minutes, which was what were told on the phone. the service was perfect- timely, attentive, and professional. What a wonderful local find. We arrived early on Sunday morning and luckily no wait. Service was great with plenty of refills of coffee. We had the granola pancakes and traditional eggs, bacon, hash browns plate. Everything delicious. Hats off to the kitchen. Of note, pancakes best I've had. Fluffy and delicious. This place is just ok. If this place is country, it's the waxy veneer type of country where everything looks like it could be country style but everything is too shiny. As someone who has been to numerous country kitchens in Texas and the south, places like shouldn't so much shine to them. Starting with food, it's as I said before, just OK. It's not bad, but it's also not good. It's middle of the road edible which if I was driving on a long highway through the middle of the south, would probably be a welcome thing, but being in Cerritos, there are better options nearby. The pancakes were over-mixed and rubbery. The waffle was crispy but had almost no flavor. The eggs were pale yellow and runny, and the sausage was barely cooked, enough to be warm, but limp and lacking in flavor. The service and ambiance is where this falls apart for me. First, for a country kitchen to have a staff that barely looks at you, doesn't smile, and doesn't bother to greet you or send you off warmly; that's definitely not Southern hospitality. When I took a look at all the curios and nostalgic decorations, I noticed not a single bit of patina in anything. It looks like someone went to Home Goods and bought everything that looks kinda country (and then stuffed it on the wall shelves. There's nothing on the walls that's older than a few years, and I wouldn't doubt some of it still has a TJ Maxx sticker on the bottom. Also, and this was nearly a deal breaker, but no grits! Probably further nest because they probably would be under or over cooked. In short, you can call yourself country all you want, but just like Little Nas X, that doesn't make it so. read more

Came here for brunch, got the chef's special chicken, mushroom and spinach crepes, My companion got herself a Philly cheesesteak lunch that came with fries. We shared one GIANT blueberry granola pancake. As usual I got too much food and brought home leftovers for a later lunch. Very friendly waitresses, who were also quick to ask if my coffee needed a refill: why do diner cups seem designed to hold such small quantities of coffee? Very cute place, they had a Christmas tree in the front with lots of assorted knick knacks and frames with various scenes, I like that kind of country boho chic vibe. Country Cafe has such a cozy vibe--perfect for slow mornings or catching up with a friend over a warm meal. The service was super sweet and welcoming, and the food? So comforting. I had the waffle and country breakfast, and it seriously hit the spot. Definitely a hidden gem I'll be coming back to. This is a split review. I'm a 2, Wife's a 4.5 (yep, we ate at the same place, same time!). My 2 is not because the place sucked. It was just OK. I have to want to come back to a place to get to a 3. I had the California Spuds and a waffle (too much for a comfortable single meal, btw). The taters were pan cooked, with some cheese, avocado, and sour cream sort of plopped on like an afterthought; not horrible after adding some Cholula for flavor. The waffle was pretty good (syrup seemed like some knockoff pseudo-maple, but OK for the price level). Wife had the JSM omelet (Jack, Sausage, Mushroom) and enjoyed it quite a bit. Ambiance is basic Americana; clean and tidy, and a bit worn with age. Music tended towards mild Reggae, upbeat and positive if a tad intrusive in volume (not too bad in these eardrum-busting days of dining out). Service was more or less indifferent but efficient. Plenty of open lot parking. One major plus to the place, at least at non-peak (9:30AM): the food was out very, very fast. And I'll say this: it's on the same lot as an IHOP, but we would go back to Country Cafe again before wasting the $$ and Calories on IHOP. We dropped $56 for two people, including tip. read more

I was there 4/18/26 at about 1pm with a my daughter and a small grey puppy who barked at everybody. We sat ouside of course and a young man sat us down and a young waitress in her 20s probably took outr order. May I said something wrong. I cannot recall doing anything wrong. Her sentences were very short, brought out our food without muttering a word, and never checked on our table once. I paid cash, left a 18% tip and left because I felt mistreated. We were looking for a breakfast place not too far from Knott's Berry Farm which would have good food but not Knott's prices. It's a small place with a neighborhood atmosphere. They serve Breakfast and Lunch. The food was good. We ate their sausage eggs benedict and their avocado toast. Came in on a Sunday and got seated really quick but then they just forgot about us then maybe 15 minutes later they take our drinks then come back later for our order, we're waiting and waiting and notice that people who got here after us are being served, then the table next to us who ordered after us gets an apology and explanation that they lost their ticket and their food would be out shortly but they totally ignored us. I had to to get up after waiting 10 more minutes and ask them if our food was going to be coming out or not cause at this point I just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave they just brushed me off and said the food was coming out right now. I will not be coming back how do they apologize to one table and offer to make it right for them but not us, we didn't even get mad at them but I'm super disappointed with how we were treated today. read more

A great family brunch spot. They have crayons and menus for kids. The pancakes are huge and delicious! The tuna salad sandwich is yummy. The service is always kind and they try their best to accommodate even the pickiest people. My only issue is that they don't have dairy alternatives. My sister & I met for a late lunch the day before 4th of July. Found ourselves checking out Country Cafe referred by friends. They close at 1:30pm. We arrived at 1:00 Thought they might turn us away. We were so wrong. They greeted us cheerfully and never rushed us to order or finish up. Top notch service all around. Sister ordered a 2 egg scramble accompanied by brown rice, bacon and sourdough toast. Homemade strawberry jam. Delish. I ordered machaka - half a plate full of tasty shredded beef scrambled with fluffy eggs. Plentiful. Delicious. Cottage cheese, sourdough toast and brewed coffee completed my meal. So much food. We both took half our meals home for dinner. The cafe is ultra-clean. A wall of philodendron plants look well-loved - healthy, hardy, lacy - allowed filtered light to enter the lovely cafe. Impressive. Country Cafe has been in business for eight years. I live blocks away. I can't believe this was my first visit. It won't be my last. read more

We went today (Sunday) around 11 am and there were several groups ahead of us, but we were seated inside fairly quickly. Great service and the employees are very nice. I had the BLT sandwich that came with the choice of fries on the side that comes with this dish. There's an option to choose salad, soup and something else if you didn't want the fries. We also had the rancho omelet that came with two sides of your choice - we chose a side of house fries (which is amazing, I'd recommend) and toast. Of course, you can choose what you'd like based on what you see on the menu. There's a lot of parking spots but on Sunday brunch time, a bit difficult to find so I'd recommend carpooling. It's located in a plaza with other restaurants like IHOP, so parking would be different to find. And one last thing, the brunch is filling but not very heavy/oily, so you wouldn't have to worry too much about having that afternoon nap if you need to get stuff done. read more

So behind on my Yelp reviews, but better late than never. I was here with a friend (her recommendation) on 02-17-23. We had an extremely pleasant time with great (old school) service, which was extremely pleasant. The young (older lady) who served us (sorry I no longer have the receipt to shout out her name)... but she was definitely old school and her service was amazing. We sat inside. Next time, I'd definitely choose outside, in the patio with umbrellas. My favorite to sit outside. We shared an omelet, grain pancakes and biscuits & gravy (of course) and had our share of coffee refills during our leisurely brunch. The prices are reasonable. 11/25/22 I was so looking forward to dining here since yesterday (bookmarked it a while back. I'm always on the lookout for diner type, mom& pop, no frills, country style places for breakfast & brunch. Sure, the ambiance inside fit the bill. There are booths on each side & a few tables with chairs in the middle, some tables out in the front patio-the kind of picnic benches you find in school cafeterias. The biggest complaint I have is the LOUD music playing in the background. I want to be able to hear myself talk & have a conversation with my meal companion to enjoy the em experience. I figured if it's too loud then the customers need to talk louder among themselves which adds more to the noise level. If we would've been seated outside, maybe it would've been an acceptable situation. Hubby's tinnitus is going into overdrive & we we're about to walk out because it took some time for our server to take our orders. I was too hungry to make a fuss so I ordered eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon & sub cottage cheese & my much awaited banana pancake. Hubby wasn't too hungry yet & was fixing to order soup of the day (it was 11am) but the server said there didn't have time to prepare because they were closed yesterday (Thanksgiving). Hubby's heart sank, as he was already displeased with the noise level. So he said we'll definitely go somewhere else after our meal from here. I said I'd just share my meal. My order came in a reasonable amount of time & I took a bite of my eggs Benedict...the hollandaise is salty. I could've asked to replace it but I was hungry, bordering on hangry, headache imminent. So I just accepted it & had some of the cottage cheese to offset the saltiness (to some degree it helped). So I'm thinking, okay the banana pancake should be really good because the banana is in the batter...nope. The pancake is not even mediocre, I took a couple of bites & gave up. It was a bit dry. If the banana was smashed up & mixed into the batter then maybe it would've been better. See photo, it looks like the banana slices were just added for aesthetics. I did request politely if the volume can be turned down. One server did but it only lasted after one song & it made a difference-I didn't have to talk louder so my husband could hear me. Then the volume was turned up again. Pretty sure this place is a local favorite & it serves up some great food but our experience today just wasn't a pleasant one. This place was to say the least disappointing. From the beginning it was a bad experience. It was a seating for 7 so this place is not a good place for a large group they had a large party already there so apparently instead of coming up with something to accommodate our party they just sat other people ahead of us. Waited a good 45 minutes until we told them to put 2 tables together outside and we would seat there. Why they could come up with this idea I have no clue. Then waited more time to place an order cause the service was not good either. All that time wasted for a cold breakfast that wasn't very good to begin with. read more

The review is based on the restaurant being low staffed but that's no excuse. It was pretty busy the food came out in parts which I didn't like I didn't get my entire breakfast all at once. The banana pancakes were okay they are so thick it was a bit raw. The eggs didn't taste any different than homemade eggs. Oh and the food wasn't hot hot just warm. The ambiance was okay a lot of people with empty tables. The coffee never got to come around but once as well with the water. No menu for dogs which was a bummer since it is pet friendly. My wife and I used to live in Michigan for a while and we got used to eating traditional style American breakfasts. In California however, traditional American breakfast places are a lot harder to find. And no, IHOP doesn't count. I'm talking about your local diner, "mom and pop shop." Country cafe is really the only place I've found near me so far that serves my the traditional American breakfasts I missed eating in Michigan. Everything tastes fresh, homemade, and the staff are friendly too! When you want to take a break from the fusion, or American (New) type breakfast places, this is the place to go. read more

What a nice, fun find! Upon entering, we were greeted by Jennifer, who also acted as our server. The menu is somewhat limited, but since only breakfast and lunch are served, that is understandable. My wife enjoyed an ABC omelet, and I had a daily special of Chillaquiles. The ABC omelet was a 3-egg delight. She had the fresh fruit and a pancake that was BIG! She could not finit off. Oh well, it was heated up for a nice evening meal. My Chillaquiles were delicious. The only problem is the huge portion. This little gem is perfect for a quick bite. this place is a gem in cypress! i have come here a couple times, and it always feels like a warm hug. i love the way that the restaurant is decorated, and one small detail that i loved was the fact that all of mugs for the hot drinks were all different! it made me feel like i'm at my grandma's house drinking a cup of hot chocolate. the servers are so friendly and attentive, and they have all always made us feel at home. the food is delicious -- the home fries are a must try for sure!! the portion sizes are very generous as well. i have lived in cypress for almost my whole life, and i only wish that i'd try country cafe sooner! :) read more

Our first time here and it's a cute little place but as we were sitting a customer beside us said there's a Roach on the floor behind you and we told the server and her response was oh its just a water bug it caught the attention to several customers eating and then the Roach ran over to the booth next to us and the couple was suprised so the guy ended up smashing it and then that one server came back with napkins to pick it up but the guy ended up getting it and Me and my sister just looked at each other thinking should we still eat here. We did and our food was ok So I mentioned to our server about how my breakfast and my sisters breakfast was on her Avocado toast that the greens were Old and yellow and that on my eggs Benedict the spinach was soggy that it looked bad as well So we should of just Walked Out but we gave this mom n pop cafe a chance But We Will Never Come Back! I often try new places based on Yelp ratings. Service was great; the staff was welcoming and friendly. 5 stars for those on shift during my visit. Unfortunately, food was only average - I had the biscuits and country gravy. I'm used to seasoned gravy whenever I order this dish. It is usually peppered with generous amounts of delicious sausage in it. The gravy was so thick and almost gelatinous and lacked flavor. The sausage bits were sparse and also lacked flavor. Maybe I tried the wrong item, but with so many diner style breakfast options, I don't think I would return. read more
