AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Seated quickly, but menus took a bit to get to us. 25min after we ordered ; Had to ask someone to check on why it's taking so long. They said we would be next. After 10 additional mins and watching food be delivered to MANY others ,we told them we are leaving. Settling the scene, it's a pretty busy Sunday and there's a busy crowd. The average age of the crowd skews older. We had a party of six and got in quickly. Special was beef and noodles and all three people in my crowd said it was amazing. Rest of us got breakfast and it was pretty good. Servers were friendly and helpful. A hidden gem in Lafayette! Good tasting pancakes, egg cooked to perfection, and the biscuits and gravy were definitely a hit with our group. There was a bit of a wait when we got there and the ordering took some time, but that was the only minor concern when going there. Also, it was Sunday morning so it's to be expected. One additional benefit is that the breakfast items are cheap and you get a lot for what you pay. Excellent service from the wait staff, they always would say "nice to meet you" and "welcome" if it's your first time there. I think they also try to remember people and make them feel at home. Ordered the country skillet and it was edible. Could've done without the gravy they put on it. Wish I would've got a different waitress too. The blonde haired one didn't seem to give two F's about me and my order. A different waitress brought my skillet out to me and said she'd be back with my toast. The waitress whom took my order came by soon after and asked me if I'd like more coffee and I said sure. She proceeded to talk to other customers and decided to sit down with one of the tables and look at pictures on one of their phones. I proceeded to eat the rest of my skillet. Never got my toast and the waitress filled my cup up right as I finished my food. No tip for her. Stay away from the older blonde haired waitress's section if at all possible. I'm sure the other waitresses are fine. Not going back here when I'm in town again. read more

We always stop here for breakfast on the way down south to Ohio or Kentucky. Perfect breakfast joint, always hot and huge portions. Coffee that hits the spot, and fresh orange juice. Biscuits and gravy is the classic standard, and they do it perfectly. Skillet dishes are huge, and filled with the perfect combinations of veggies and meat. Always be sure to grab a couple pieces of home made pie to go, some of the best we've ever had. read more

This place reminds me of my great grandma's cooking! Southern comfort food at its finest. I had the chicken tenders, which were so delicious. Tender and juicy on the inside, but crispy deliciousness on the outside. I had green beans which were your typical canned green beans, lightly salted, and their mashed potatoes and gravy. Their potatoes were the real deal, not rehydrated flakes. My granny makes better gravy. I found the gravy a bit salty. My husband had the tenderloin sandwich, which he said was delicious. My grandma had the chicken fried steak special - which she loved. They also have apple salad, and a 3 bean salad if you like those sort of things. Price and taste does it for Country Cafe. You would find it challenge to walk out paying more that $10. All the food is home cooked and delicious. I especially love the home potatoes which are thinly sliced has browns. Try the Country gravy, you won't be disappointed. I had the country Omelette that had a big pour over of gravy on top. Very good. Next time I want to try the Country Skillet. Wait service was a bit confused when bringing out our orders, but we had a big party. I don't really like the inside which looks like it hasn't changed since the 70s. Seems dirty. read more

Stopped through Lafayette for some breakfast and so glad this place was here! Loved that they had keto options on the menu which saved me from having to ask for substitutions which are never fun for anyone. All the food here was delicious and the prices were reasonable and food came out very quickly. Recommend you stop here instead of the icky big chain breakfast places nearby. read more

In between ballgames & thought I would come here for breakfast. First game was early enough & with an hr. drive I didn't have time before leaving home. I knew I could come here and get a great breakfast quickly. Sure enough I walked in & was lucky enough to find a table, they were just about out of seating! Waitress was at the table within a minute. I made my order for ham steak, home fries, 2 eggs medium & wheat toast with coffee. Coffee was on table within 2 minutes & breakfast was here in another 5-6. As with every other time I have been here the service was top notch & the food was great & as ordered. I have never had a bad experience here. Great family setting & the waitresses are fun & enjoyable. They treat you as though they have known you for a while. read more

Luckily we arrived before their rush really started to hit. 10 minutes later and we wouldn't have been able to sit because there weren't any tables left. I ordered the breakfast casserole special, a concoction of cheesy hash browns with eggs, sausage, onions, and peppers on top served alongside a cup of sausage gravy, a biscuit, and coffee. The biscuit was soft all the way through and when torn open, you could see the bits of butter throughout it. The casserole was pretty good. It was a very good value for the price, and I definitely didn't leave hungry. My son ordered one of the skillets and didn't talk while he was busy devouring it. I'll take that to mean that he was enjoying it :) Our server was attentive and friendly. The staff all kept coming by to remove dirty plates and top off our drinks, basically working together as a team to keep everyone happy.
