Very good food and homemade style. It was a pleasure to try some authentic food in West Lafayette. Thank God for Yelp, this place was very good and lovely. The service was really good and it's a cafe that you seat yourself! It seems like it gets very busy on the weekends, it was quite busy. They run efficient so it goes pretty fast. The ambiance is like a diner and home style family place. The food is definitely good the smoked sausage, eggs, and pancakes were made to perfection. It's located in a popular area of West Lafayette, which makes this a good known spot. Further, they gave good parking and everyday breakfast or lunch specials.

Tenderloin sandwich. There's a bun under there.

This is a great hometown place. Lots of locals. I couldn't pass up the grilled tenderloin sandwich based on the menu picture. I couldn't believe the size. It covered the buns and more. A huge portion of tasteless crunchy patty. I wish it had some flavor that i could comment on but it was almost like eating cardboard. My wife really liked the eggs and smoked sausage and biscuits and American fries. perfectly cooked and biscuits were a killer. The service is attentive and really friendly. We would definitely return but try something other than the tenderloin sandwich.

    Veggie omelette

My first visit to this family diner. Service was extremely friendly. It appears that there are many regulars here, the servers greeting them by name. I ordered the veggie omelette with two small pancakes. The "small" pancakes weren't really small, they were definitely more substantial than the usual side pancakes. The omelette was very good, with a generous amount of vegetables and cheese. The pancakes were excellent, they tasted homemade rather than from a mix like so many restaurants use. I was a little disappointed that they didn't serve butter but instead some vegetable oil spread. Real butter would have complimented those pancakes very well. The dining room was very clean. This is a good location, with several hotels nearby. A nice experience.

Great spot right off the freeway, especially if you're on a road trip. I am baffled by the negative reviews because this place didn't give anything other than hole-in-the-wall diner vibes. If you're expecting anything else then definitely go somewhere else because this place will not be for you. We got exactly what we wanted and expected here. I will say that the bathroom is on the gross side so try to hold it but I also survived using it. My husband ordered the chorizo omelette with no onions so it came with tomatoes, cheese, and chorizo only. The American fries were cooked to my liking - a mix of soft and crispy. I ordered the country fried steak and wowee - would definitely order again. The steak was hot and crispy as heck and smothered in a very deliciously seasoned sausage gravy. Makes me want to try and recreate it at home. Hit the spot for sure. Now, again, I will say it's not fancy by any means. Think...Dennys but not franchise. People are nice and you're surrounded by seniors and potentially a few regulars. The staff listens to your requests and brings you the food you ordered which is all we can ask for!

Coffee served in a construction mug. Individual creamers in the bucket.

Little diner behind the Circle K gas station. Seat yourself and wait for a menu. Hubby and I shared their Country Skillet. Several Yelpers mentioned how good the skillets are. They are correct. Even though we split a skillet between two people they served us each a skillet with half portions on each. That was very nice! Their coffee is hot and they keep coming around to top off or refill your mug. Bathroom is clean. Overall the feel of this restaurant is like a diner we love to frequent in northern IN. Only thing I didn't like is their water tastes nasty.

It took 45 minutes for my food to come out, and it was low quality. Understaffed is an understatement.

Great Orion to typical off the highway chain restaurants. Not the highest quality in food but not bad and their prices are great.

Greetings! Tucked…read moreaway in a quiet corner of Lafayette, Indiana lies my next discovered gem to share with you: North End Cafe. Pleasant staff greeted us upon arrival and the genial vibe continued throughout our meal. Props to Paige for great service during an obviously busy Saturday morning. Quaint decor and quality service gave me high hopes that the meal would be a winner, too...and it was! Dishes were served hot and perfectly plated...and the first bite sealed the deal: Delicious! Flavor development and fresh tastes met me bite after bite...excellent in every way! If mild coffee is the way you enjoy your coffee, you'll enjoy their coffee...I prefer a more robust blend and missed it the table with the symphony of other great flavors. The carefully clean dining room and bathrooms tell me that management covers all facets of running a great restaurant...kudos! I'll be sure to return to The North End Cafe in the future and I hope you have a similar experience when you cross through the door for the first time! Until next time...tk

The tomato juice is very nice, and I'm pleased to say the coffee is perfect. Everything was great except for the hollandaise sauce. It wasn't a bad sauce, just not real hollandaise. No problem; it's easily avoided.

Ambiance is what you should expect from a mom-n-pop diner that's been in business since the 50s…read more Clean and well loved. The food is the same way...inexpensive, home style and tasty! The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've had...light, fluffy, and melt in your mouth. Gravy could be a little more peppery but you can add more if that's your thing. We went on a Sunday about 12:30 and it wasn't busy. The waitstaff was very friendly and the food came out quick. It's out of the way and hidden but certainly worth finding! Will be back in future visits to Lafayette!

I had the misfortune of experiencing the worst breakfast in years at this establishment. I ordered…read morea ham and Swiss omelette, specifically requesting that my eggs not be brown. To my dismay, they arrived completely overcooked and unappetizingly brown. To add insult to injury, my toast was burnt to a crisp, nearly charred to a shadow of what it should have been. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her nonchalant response was, "It's kind of burnt," as if there are acceptable levels of burn. In my opinion, when the toast is predominantly black, it clearly falls into the category of "burnt." The overall quality of the meal was abysmal, and it was evident that the staff couldn't have cared less about my experience. While I was not charged for the meal, I wouldn't have paid for it even if I had to. There's simply no way I could bring myself to eat here again. Curiously, my husband ordered a similar omelette, but his came out perfectly yellow and appetizing, along with toast that was actually edible. This made me wonder if my request not to burn my food inadvertently insulted the cook, leading to my meal being intentionally scorched. After sending the dish back, I received not a word of apology or even an offer to prepare something else. It was a complete lack of customer service. This review, without a doubt, has to be the most negative I've ever written. Normally, I refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand that everyone can have an off day. If a restaurant attempts to rectify their mistakes, I tend to be forgiving. But in this case, the food was nothing short of garbage on a plate, and the indifference from the staff was glaring.
