Country Pride Restaurant is pretty good for a truck stop. They have yummy food with a selection of a little bit of everything- breakfast served all day; they also have chocolates and taffy and a few other snacks at checkout. Our waitress was super nice and had good service. They have really good flavored lemonades and iced teas too (seasonal). I had the Jalapeño burger and was super good and filling- 2 patties, bacon, pepper jack cheese, Arizona sauce and deep fried jalapeños - HELL YES. It's at the TA stop just off the freeway at exit 17 in Troutdale, so it can be very busy with travelers and truckers, but really wasn't that bad- restaurant was pretty empty; they also have a salad buffet that we had our eye on, but did not get to try! Not sure why really old reviews are on this place still. Luckily my husband stopped anyway. It was great!! Pancakes were fluffy and yummy. Bacon was thick and perfectly cooked. Country fried steak was tender and flavorful and service was quick and friendly. It was clean on a Sunday at 930a. Little sparse of customers but plenty of clean tables. Would highly recommend if you want a hearty breakfast it's worth stopping. read more

I give Country Pride Restaurant one star for the customer service, which was pleasant. One star is for the simple fact that they had food at all. To lay down even another star for food is beyond my ability to look on the bright side. The Sharie's next door would have had better food, the McDonald's as well and whatever I could put in my microwave at home. I am a truckers daughter and I cannot believe TA would have such a sorrowful restaurant. I associate truck stops with homemade country cooking. We tried the Salad Bar, the Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza, and a kiddos Mac&Cheese. The lettuce for the salad was almost gone with no efforts to replenish in over twenty minutes. It was sitting in water. I do not like wet salad. A few of the topping were out and the croutons were stale rocks. If you have ever had a Totinos Pizza from the frozen pizza section at your store, you know how bad they are. They taste better than the flatbread pizza. The sauce was sour. It was unpleasant. The kiddos Mac& Cheese was a Kraft clone. Overall the quality was bad. Where to begin.... We showed up on a Sunday at about 10am - asked the front desk cashier if we seat ourselves, she said "if you can find a clean spot". Given there were 5 of us we did not want to sit in a booth but all the tables were dirty and did not see anyone bussing them. We told the lady that we would wait for a table to be cleared off. Thinking she would start doing that - nothing. We went and used the restroom and still nothing cleared. We then began clearning a table ourselves! Noone jumped in or even apologized! It took nearly 15min after sitting at a dirty table before anyone even came to wipe it and give us menus! Waitress said she just got on the clock and apologized for wait. Can it get better from here? Nope... Ordered our food and everyones food at our table came out except mine. Waitress asked me again what I ordered - ran to the back and then informed us that she forgot to put my ticket in! She asked the chef to rush it and by the time it actually came out - everyone else in my group was done! Food was very good overall - except the Country Fried Steak was SUPER salty. But our overall experience left a super sour taste in my mouth. Do not think I will return unless a group forces me too. I still cannot believe the rest of the group still tipped after this performance (why does tipping seem so OBLIGATED?!?! In my opinion it should be based off service!). read more

Who hasn't eaten at a truck stop? Restaurant was clean. Waitress pleasant, and kind of a cool decor, with some real neat quotes on all the booths. Plenty parking. BUT the salad bar sucks. Everything looks purée and not enough variety of veggies or much of anything. The only thing I can say is " The soup (cheese chowder") was really good. Just a typical truck stop fare. Sometimes you are just going to have a bad experience at a restaurant. It's just a matter of time, if you think about it, right? I guess it just was my turn. Where to start.... Newtons 3rd law states: "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." If you ignore me for almost a half an hour while B.S.ing with your friends at one 1 of only 2 occupied tables in the whole restaurant, (action) I'm going to have something to say about it. I know. (reaction) Let me begin by saying that I am very grateful to have a place to sit down and have a bite to eat at a truck stop at the end of a long day, and I have a great respect for hard working service workers in gereral. As a matter of fact I have been known to tip $20.00 for an $8.00 ticket as a reward for hard work and good service. I feel it's the least I can do. And it doesn't take much to please me. A little greasy slop and glass or two of water and I'm on my way. But NOOOOO. Not today. It's personal visiting hour for the waitress and apparently I'm the friend who never gets invited to the party day! Whooo hooo! So after almost a half an hour of patiently waiting, a different waitress, who was trying to clean up and close out her shift so she could go home, kept looking over at me. She finally felt sorry for me and took my order. Then, with lightning speed (relative to my waitress) my order was finished and the cook shouted my waitresses name. For the first time since I walked in, she stopped yapping and looked towards the cook all confused like. You could see the wheels turning in her head. Real slow like. After what seemed like a year and a day she sloooooly walked up and got my food and then sloooooly brought it to my table then just stood there and looked at me real dumb like, and smiled. Just stood there! Was she attempting to hypnotize me to forget everything? It didnt work. I told her what I thought about her shooting the s**** with her friends while leaving me twisting in the wind and she was quite offended. Took off in a huff. I quickly finished my small meal then waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, the busboy brought me the check out of pure pity. By the time I got out of there, the clock on the wall said I had been there for 1 hour and 20 minutes! I felt like someone slipped me acid. Nothing made sense. Was I was on a different plane of reality than these slow homeless bus people that had wandered in while I was waiting? Did I slip through a mirror into the Underland lIke Alice in Wonderland...... I digress. While I was there, I had the time to take a good look around. The place had taken on the ambiance of kind of a cross between a homeless shelter and a Greyhound bus station, since I had arrived . Hmph. Whatever. Check this out: As I was leaving, a grungy homeless looking dude with pure white hair and pure white beard pulled up in a beat up old van missing it's windshield, with the wipers on high (you can't make this stuff up) and started working very diligently on something inside . I decided this might be interesting so I spied him from my truck. He was fastidiously sorting everything of value from the inside of the van and throwing it outside in a big pile. From the pile he put it in a big duffle bag. I guess since anyone could reach through the windshield and open the door he had to take it with him. I swear I heard him say he was late as he rushed off. I wonder where he's going? You got it! He walked right in to the restaurant, slipped through the mirror and turned into a White Rabbit as my waitress, Alice, raced up to him. I heard music and the he started singing... I'm late, I'm late for A very important date. No time to say hello, good-bye, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late I'm late and when I wave, I lose the time I save. We've come here for a few years now, primarily for the salad bar. Today we visited for the salad bar plus their all-you-can-eat fish fry. The service was slow, despite it not being real busy. The fish fry is good, but it took exceedingly long to get the single pieces of fish out. You get 2 pieces to start and then you have to reorder over and over, and they bring out single pieces. So, when you get the single piece delivered, order right then for more. It's a truck stop, but they need to speed up their service. read more

Came in today around 11, there was a sign that said sit yourself So i looked around to find a booth I found one and it needed to be wiped down. I waited for about 10 minutes with no one coming around or offering a menu, there was a waitress running around and one girl at the register. I waited for a few more minutes and got up and left. My wife and I really appreciate dining experiences like we had today! We dine here, on occasion, and the food and service is always good, but Nicole, our waitress, added to our experience by the way she spoke (and joked) with us, was very attentive to our needs, and very simply, was a pleasure to have around. It was after midnight and we were looking for a place to eat. We stopped at the perfect type of place where we knew the food would be good and satisfying. . .a 24-hour restaurant at a truck stop. We were the only customers in Country Pride at that late hour and got a friendly greeting from our server, Mindy. I was impressed with how spacious, clean, and tidy their dining room is. I ordered the Sunrise Start Breakfast which consists of two eggs any style, hash browns, and toast. . .it was prepared perfectly. (I'm especially picky about hash browns since I like them browned and crispy throughout, and lots of other places just make them crispy on the outside but soft inside.) My son ordered the Smothered Chopped Steak Dinner with a bowl of split pea soup. It was tasty, the mashed potatoes with it were "real", and the soup was housemade. He enjoyed his meal. I remarked to Mindy how pleased I was that my hash browns were cooked correctly, and she mentioned that the cook's name is Duane. . .so I'll give him kudos for that. Good hot food , good size portions and good service. Fantastic all you can eat soup & salad bar combo. I cannot believe that many of previous low reviews written to this hard working people! That business open 24/7. It's not easy to keep the long hours for the truckers and holiday travelers. And at the same time keep the consistent quality throughout the opening hours. As for my family it was a boon to find an open restaurant on Thanks Giving day. And even more the food quality was good. especially salad bar. The Chef's special daily menu plus all you can eat salad bar cost only $9. Dirty? Well, I don't know how high level the reviewers demand for. For the daily business restaurant, the cleanliness was very reasonable and in good condition every inside. I wish the hardworking business owner and worked not let down by low reviews by too much high eyes. read more
