I heard about this place from a friend that goes to the one in Forney. So far the place looks clean and the staff Cynthia is very friendly and recommended the Mac and cheese for the lunch special. If I could leave a 0 star I would. We arrived at this place thinking it was a totally different restaurant (navigation told us it was) but we thought we'll we are already here let's just eat here. Bad idea, 1st off the place was filthy we had to find someone to wipe done a table for us. And I had to wipe down my own high chair (keep in mind they were not busy. So what were they doing) our food arrived and was cold. My chicken sandwich was dry. The corn was cold. All other sides also cold. Then the next day all of us had upset stomachs. Okay I feel the need to update my review because they've definitely improved over the last two years. In my last review my biggest complaint was that the chicken was dry, but this time it was very moist so I'm glad to see this major improvement. The pinto beans and the rolls have improved as well. The baked sweet potatoes are cooked well but the green beans need to cook longer. The mixed veggies a strange sauce on them that reminds me of soy sauce. The apple cobbler is amazing especially with a scoop of ice cream. Keep up the good work and we'll be back. And we'll tell our friends as well. read more

You know a place is good when you pass by the restaurant and you can smell the food. They are located in a busy street, behind a mall and movie theater but you can still smell the rotisserie chicken. Cowboy chicken was clean and the price wasn't bad. I took a family deal to go, the whole chicken with sides. The food was great but side could use some work with more choices and maybe a corn bread. Wish they would have a gallon of tea or bottles of soda to go with a family meal, instead of ordering drink in cups for the family. My family of 8 came here yesterday after church. We ordered the family dinner for 6-8 people. We were not impressed with the portions. Aside from the small chicken pieces which I will say were nicely flavored and tender, the side portions were a fail. We recieved 3 side portions enough for bearly 4 people. They were in the usual small dishes given in a one person meal. I asked if perhaps there were at least another dish of each coming and she said that we would have to order more. This place used to be my favorite place to go to for great rotisserie chicken, and their sides were great as well. They are usually nice except for this one time, 5/12/2021 I had a bad experience. And me and my husband loves this place, have been ongoing customers since we discovered it 2 years ago. This time it was not a pleasant experience. The cashier that gave me the bad experience was not that friendly nor helpful. As a matter of fact, I could tell she wasn't going to be that friendly or helpful by the way she greeted me; she greeted with me with an unfriendly tone..."Yes ma'am, what can I do for you?" From that moment I just knew she wasn't going to be friendly. And there was a man employee not sure what his position was, but he and the cashier was talking to each other, and he never once acknowledged me. Acted as if I wasn't even standing there. So when I tried to order, the cashier immediately said, we're all out of lettuce ma'am to make the salad with. Because me and my husband wanted their salad and salad bowl. So I called my husband to see if he wanted something else, so he said he wanted one of their sandwiches. After I tried to order that, the same cashier said they didn't have the ranch dressing that goes on the sandwich. I should've told her to put the other sauce on it. I was going to order a side of cole-slaw with the sandwich, but the same cashier said they didn't have cole-slaw when my husband and i order cole-slaw from there all the time. Had ordered some not that long ago. And I told the cashier that we order cole-slaw from there all the time. She gave some bogus story. As I was leaving I told the cashier that it must not be a good day. My husband and I finally figured out that they were about to close and didnt want to go through the trouble with preparing anything fresh. So that's why I wasn't treated so well. So here's my tip, don't go to Cowboys chicken in Fort Worth on Overton Street close to closing time. Or you will be lied to and leave empty handed. Also, I get it that when it's close to closing that you just want to go home. But if you get a last minute customer, you should still treat that customer very well especially if they are long time customers. Even if they are not, you should treat every customer well so that they will want to keep coming back. But obviously, that cashier doesn't care about the customers. read more

I mean come on its summer in Texas turn the blasted AC on. I got the chicken salad and my friend got the Chicken Sandwich with rotisserie Chicken and both where dry not quite bone dry but dry nonetheless. How do you get dry chicken salad I have no idea. The rotisserie was also dry and still slightly pink inside how does that happen. Also there was no rotisserie cripy flavorful skin. Cowboy chicken what to say well the first few times we went there it was amazing chicken. You can definitely tell the sides are not homemade. But that's okay but tonight we went and got some to go food and was so disappointed. We got a whole chicken dry as a bone literally just like dust could not believe it so embarrassed to serve this to my friends. The corn tasted like it was 3 days old mashed potatoes was spoiled and the macaroni and cheese just was not mac and cheese. So to say the least we threw everything out and ordered pizza. Wish it was better. The local Boston Market is a nightmare, and Cowboy Chicken is better, but just wish it was as good as Boston Market on Matlock in Arlington. The chicken has an after taste almost like liquid smoke. Having said that, it's ok,just not great. read more
