Not sure about the other reviewers, but the chicken I received was not dry. It was moist and fall off the bone tender. I had the 3 piece dark meat platter with sweet potato and the tomato & cucumber salad. My wife had the BBQ chicken salad with creamed spinach. I did find the pieces of chicken a little on the small side but I did not leave hungry. We were both happy with our meal and for a little over $15, found it reasonably priced. There is not a lot of indoor dining area, but we had no problem getting a table. There are more tables outside on a covered patio. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a daily lunch special every day of the week for $4.99. Yesterday it was 2 pieces of dark meat with 2 sides. As this was my first visit, I assume the special changes. Like Bridget V., I'm very surprised to see so many negative reviews! Been here several times and it's always been fantastic! I usually get the two piece special and my two sides are always creamed spinach and creamed spinach. (Yes, you read that correctly.) They recently added chicken enchiladas to the menu and they are delicious! If a Mexican restaurant offered creamed spinach with their enchiladas I would order it that way. So the fact that there are no refried beans or Mexican rice on the menu doesn't hurt my feelings...like it obviously does a few other reviewers. Another common thread throughout the negative reviews was portion size. The chicken pieces do seem to be slightly smaller than other places (VERY slightly) but c'mon fatty...get over it! There's plenty of food on that plate, especially for the price! The place is very clean. The service is very friendly! This carnivorous family LOVED the food at Cowboy Chicken. It was our first visit and we knew something good was up when we walked in and smelled smoky chicken roasting over an open flame. The retail space itself wasn't great but the staff and food were so good we overlooked some water dripping from the ceiling onto a few tables. I would suggest swapping out the Watermelon Tea with Peach Tea and come up with some sort of signature "Cowboy Pie." All in all, great. Wish there was one in Conroe, Texas, where we live!! read more

Caution!! We come here frequently and like the food. The kids like the chicken and the corn nuggets are delicious. The staff is helpful and friendly. However while sitting on the patio I was approached by a man asking for money. I was alone with a 10 year old and 1 year old. The patio is not closed off on either end so he was able to walk through. There was no one else out there with us and it felt very unsafe. We will definitely not eat outside again. read more

The chicken was A-OK. I was the last to order my food and my food came immediately after I had sat down with my drink. I got the grilled chicken salad. The veggies looked fresh, maybe a bit too fresh if you know what I mean and the chicken breast wasn't as moist as I expected it to be. I have driven past this place numerous times and finally decided to stop in. I can't believe that I have been missing out on this food all this time. The chicken is so tender and juicy and full of flavor! The staff were so welcoming and helped me decide what I should get since it was my first time in. I ended up getting the half chicken with the famous twice baked potaters and Ranchero beans. I also got a salad with their homemade ranch. The selection of beverages were insane! They have jalapeño lemonade!! I have never seen this before so I decided to try it but decided to go with their watermelon tea. The restaurant was clean and well maintained and the staff were bussing tables and sweeping between taking customers orders. The food came out quickly and I was thanked and told to have a good night as I was handed my food. I went here for dinner last night with my 6 year old daughter. The service was prompt and friendly and the prices are reasonable. I had the 3 piece dark chicken with a side of creamed spinach and she had 2 chicken legs with a side of mac & cheese. Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry, which I didn't think was possible for dark meat and my daughter thought the mac & cheese was gross. They're food is typically great, but they have poor delivery service and turn around times. The past two times I have ordered from them they have had 2-3 hours turnaround times. I ordered at 10:15 before the opened with a delivery time of 11:15-11:30, then they turned around called saying 12:30-12:45. We came to the Overton Ridge location at 2pm on a Sunday to enjoy a late lunch. Upon arrival we were told that they were out of enchiladas, all rotisserie chicken and the only thing they could serve us would be the BBQ chicken. The estimated time until something other than the BBQ chicken would be ready was 1 hour. The employees expressed no apology and shrugged their shoulders when they gave us this news. Not impressed at all. As others have said, their chicken is dry. Maybe not the driest in the world, but if your whole thing is rotisserie, there's no excuse for anything other than 'fall off the bone' moist. The sides, in particular, are beyond bland. I'm unsure how the twice baked potatoes got famous considering there's no hint of seasoning whatsoever. I was flabbergasted. No hint of salt or butter or anything. Tasted like twice baked instant potatoes out of a box. Their BBQ sauce for the BBQ chicken is ok, though I felt as if if had it before....so I probably have. The cowboy taco, while a good size, also falls prey to the dry chicken. Generally speaking, it tastes exactly like something for half the price from Taco Bueno down the street. The ONLY saving grace of this joint is that they deliver and they were pretty quick, however, you're forced to order at least $15 worth of food....sadly, there's not $15 worth of options on their menu worth eating. If i can get better rotisserie chicken cheaper at Albertson's (also nearby), then there's a huge problem. read more

The price was what got me. 12.00 for one person...plate had ice cream scoop size of potatoes, 1/2 chicken (from a very small chicken), and a salad made up of very little lettuce and about a cup of chopped cucumbers. However, we ordered it online for delivery at 11:15 a.m. today and were told that it couldn't be delivered until 1:15 p.m. The excuse was lack of drivers. Very nice little rotisserie chicken restaurant, and even nicer that it is open for the after church crowd on Sunday. Recommendations: the rotisserie chicken itself is what made this place, the green enchiladas are very good, many sides to choose from including some healthy ones and some salad entrees. We went here! My wife had the BBQ sandwich which she was really tough and not tasty at all. I had the Cowboy Grilled chicken sandwich which was very dry and about as tasty as cardboard. Even the sweet was way too sweet for our taste. I did have the Rancho beans with my sandwich and they were pretty good. Then had stomach cramps all afternoon and many visits to the john. Our first time here. I had a quarter chicken (white meat--i.e. a breast half with a tiny wing attached), "grilled" veggies, and a side salad with chili-lime dressing. My companion had the Monterey salad. Everything was really good. Chicken was moist and flavorful (although not much wood smoke flavor). "Grilled" veggies were actually steamed, but were good (especially with some of the great chili-lime dressing from the salad). Salad was not your typical iceberg-with-a-grape-tomato, but rather a nice chopped mix with cucumber, etc. I avoid carbs, but tasted the roll--it was nondescript white bread flavor--meh. Companion said the Monterey salad (chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, jack cheese, and some kind of crunchy-cheesy things on romaine) was tasty. She had the chili-lime dressing too, and liked it, although she did supplement it with some of the house brand hot sauce (mild chipotle/cayenne flavor). Portions were moderate (not too small, but not huge either). Prices were on the high end of moderate. All of the above, with two drinks, was about $20. We'll be back. read more
