My favorite gift to buy myself while traveling is a bag of locally roasted coffee -- it's unique and 'hard' to get at home, once you dig in it's immediately nostalgic and it's super satisfying as far as price-to-usage ratios are concerned. So when I was in Jackson WY on work I made sure to make a beeline to Cowboy Coffee. What could be more Wyoming, really?! As an admittedly snooty (but not THAT snooty) coffee lover I was more than impressed with the variety of coffee here. Big fan of their Teton and Cowboy Cactus blends, along with that Ethiopian blend they sell. Greatest news is you can actually order coffee directly from them and have it shipped, so I can treat myself again without the airfare. Most importantly, the ambiance and the graphic design this place has is sooooooo satisfying to me, a born and raised New Yorker who loves Western themed anything. We drove across the state on our way to Yellowstone and were really excited to stop by Cowboy Coffee after hearing so many good things. The café itself has a great look and vibe, and at first, we were impressed by the style and atmosphere. But the experience quickly turned sour. As soon as we walked in and asked a couple of simple questions, we were met with an incredibly rude employee. She wouldn't even make eye contact or acknowledge us, just pointed in the general direction of signs instead of answering politely. Every attempt at a friendly interaction was met with a cold, dismissive attitude like she didn't want to be there at all. That interaction set the tone for the rest of the visit. The coffee and hot chocolate we ordered were both mediocre...honestly, how do you mess up hot chocolate? We left feeling pretty disappointed. Maybe this place used to be good, but based on our experience, it's lost its charm. I wouldn't recommend it..not because of the drinks, but because of the people. Awesome coffee when you're in town. I love the huckleberry mud pot coffee in hot or cold. Not sweet and the slightest bit of huckleberry flavor. Got the huckleberry mud pot and loved it and the cowboy croissant was delicious. My issue was not with the drinks/food but with the service. My boyfriend and i ordered our 2 coffees then the cashier told us our total, however we were not done ordering and i politely told her we also wanted to order breakfast. She provided to sigh, roll her eyes, cancel out our order and very dramatically rip the cancelled receipt that had printed out and crumple it up and stare at us until we proceeded to awkwardly continue our order after that interaction. She didn't say one word to us after that either. We're super nice and always respectful to service industry workers so don't know if she was just having a bad day or what. I found this place on TikTok and was immediately interested because of the name and adorable graphic design of the place. Cowboy Coffee?? Come on, so cute! I got a vanilla latte, which was good! Nothing crazy to say about it, just a solid vanilla latte. I also bought a sticker from them because they had a ton of super cute designs. This lil coffee shop is awesome! I stopped at two different locations while in town! And the tried a few different coffees and man they are so good! I even bought a few pounds of ground coffee to bring back home with me cause there's coffee is awesome! I tried one of there burritos which I think it was called the cowboy burrito and man it was perfect size and tasted amazing and was very filling! The service was awesome and the workers behind the counter were all very welcoming and inviting! Only thing is if you go you might have to stand inline for a bit! Prepared to WAIT in line (we were there at 11 AM on a Friday, waited in line for about 20 minutes) they're super efficient at making everything though so once you order, you won't have to wait long- we were pretty impressed by that considering the volume of customers. They definitely have nice customer service and inside it was a cozy vibe. I got a turmeric latté which was piping hot and the Island Time smoothie. They were both really good. I really enjoyed my stop at this coffee shop! It was the perfect way to end my trip to Wyoming. I was watching a documentary about the origins of coffee and was fascinated with how it was made in the Old West. If you know me, I love my coffee bold and strong. I had some cowboy coffee earlier in the week in Yellowstone and had to stop here after I saw their sign out front. After a long travel week, having a cup of coffee sounded perfect to me. Cowboy Coffee Co. has been around for awhile and is located in downtown Jackson. You can catch of glimpse of the beautiful Tetons if you stand out front. There was a bit of a line when I arrived but it moved somewhat quick. Cowboy Coffee has some beautiful artwork displayed on the walls from local artists. I ordered a Cowboy Croissant and couldn't get enough of it. This breakfast sandwich comes with avocado aioli, red peppers, sausage, cheese, and egg.
