Calamari and tator tots were super greasy and over cooked yet cold. So I think their oil was old and at wrong temp. Brisket sandwich had no flavor and bun was super soggy. Lemonade was watered down. Two managers sat around gossiping and made her wait upwards of my whole time there about an hour before one of them made the 30 second journey to an office to get said check. On a busy Sunday night, I expected a 30-40 minute wait to be seated. What I didn't expect, and what nobody should ever have to expect, was for the eight of us to wait another half hour after being seated at our table with NOT A WORD from a server or anyone else! After waiting 20 minutes, we mentioned to the hostess that we hadn't heard from anyone yet, and she promised to speak to our server. Another 10 minutes dragged by, and still nothing! We almost went and just grabbed water for ourselves from behind the bar... We asked the hostess again what was going on, and she said that both she and the manager had "spoken to the server," but weren't sure what was going on. After another few minutes, we decided not to waste the rest of our night and left for a restaurant that actually wanted to serve us. I have had very long waits at restaurants before, but I have NEVER been completely ignored for over half an hour! How about spending 15 seconds introducing yourself and apologizing for the wait? We had never been to Cowboy Jacks and we were looking forward to giving it a try. We arrived and were seated on the patio at a dirty table right away. It took a few minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and she brought those back pretty fast. We ordered an appetizer but it took forever for her to come back to take the rest of the food order. We had to flag down another waitress to go get our waitress so we could order! The appetizer came out and we were warned that they've had complaints about it tasting like metal so we should let her know if it tastes funny. The food took forever to arrive. In fact the table next to us ordered after us but got their food before we did. The food was mediocre at best. It took forever for us to get our requested "to go" boxes because she "had to go to another part of the restaurant to get small boxes." Sadly we were never asked if we wanted dessert because we would have liked to try the mini donuts and truffle but by the end of this experience we were just done and we wanted to leave. Keep in mind they were not busy at all and We got the impression nobody really cares about their job. read more

Was here few Saturday's ago for my brothers birthday, arrived about 8pm, the place was crowded. We went straight to the bar area and over heard folks been waiting for over an hour to be seated. Overall look inside looks like any other cowboy jacks, workers were very friendly, drinks were cheap, they have good daily deals, I recall reading $3 chicken ramen on Tuesdays. Will have to come back and try that. The calamari is extremely salty. Other than that, we had some other typical appetizers which were not bad, and by this time, they were half off! read more

The service has been awful since the place opened. We thought it was just opening day kinks that needed to be worked out but it's not. The last time we were there, which was just a couple days ago, we sat at the bar. The bartender noticed us, was busy in her section and told another bartender to come help us. That bartender looked at us and did literally nothing. We sat for a minute longer continuing to be ignored. We left without being served and went to Adagio's. And wouldn't you know the minute we walked in we were served immediately. It's not a difficult concept but for Cowboy Jacks it seems to be. This place is a 5 within its class. An urban cowboy theme that is consistent through the the chain of locations. I've had excellent and personable service at every location I've visited. I particularly like their patios...yes, even in winter. Comfort food is plentiful and reasonably priced. Check out one of their special events. We arrived at 6PM. The only seating available without waiting was at the bar, a high top or on the patio. We chose the high top. Sitting outside would have been nice but neither of us like cigarette/cigar/pipe smoke wafting over us. That being said, since it was a lovely MN spring evening, one of the large garage door style roll-up windows behind the bar was open. A table of six was just outside that window allowing smoke to roll into the dining room. That is a HUGE flaw in their design! Does this violate the clean indoor air act? For us, it was obnoxious to be exposed to smoke from the outdoor patio. When that table cleared out, there was no discernible smoke polluting our experience. Okay! Food: I ordered the tib eye, medium rare...and that is exactly what I got! Quite unusual to get my steak done just right at a neighborhood bar and grill. Flavor was good. Delicate char and good beefy flavor. Hubby ordered the half rack of BBQ beef ribs. (There's enough meat left for the two of us to share tonight!) Those ribs were very good. The veggie side was jukienned strips of carrot and jicama sauteed with French green beans with butter. Very good, cooked just right! Our server was pleasant and efficient. Attentive enough without being intrusive. We each had pre-dinner margaritas which were good but I think overpriced at $12 plus an up charge of $6 for my Hornitas Tequila. I'll stick with their rail tequila next time because with the sweetness of the mix, it was impossible to detect any flavor difference. Hubby had the Summit oatmeal stout. Our total for the evening was $78 not including tip. We plan to check out their breakfast and Bloody Bar this Sunday. read more

Wow! Great remodeling job! The hamburger was great; the service not so much. I think it was just our server, as the other sections seemed to be moving right along. Our server was either overwhelmed by the number of tables she had, was inexperienced or just didn't care about providing good service. We were there for 40-45 minutes before we received our food because it took her so long to bring our water and then to come back and take our order.
