I'm not a huge fan of Cox the company but this is a review for THIS store. Moving out of state and needed to turn in my equipment. A store member met me at the door and helped me carry my misc remotes, wires and cable box and modem to the kiosk. He was super polite, covered all the bases and even asked for and entered my forwarding address. I got a reciept, even got to keep the modem and was out the door in less than 5 minutes. Completely hassle free and a pleasant experience. I wish that guy handled customer service all the times I had to call . . . Won't miss you Cox, but you ended on a good note! read more

I feel compelled to write this review because of my great experience at this store. Yesterday my recently installed cable box stopped working properly. Rather than wait for another technician to come out, I visited the Hillcrest Cox Solutions Store to swap out the box for a new one and ask for a small compensation for the disruption in service. Within five minutes, a very friendly and apologetic employee had a new box ready for me, and gave me a $20 credit on my account. I didn't have to wait in line, I didn't have to sign anything, I hardly remember giving my name for him to look up the account with because it all happened so quickly. Seems that most of the reviews are for the Cox Cable Company, not this store specifically. I don't like Cox, I don't like any telecom companies, but based on my two visits to this store, they deserve a good rating. read more

After signing up for internet and basic cable (seeing as it's cheaper this way for the first year), I opted to do the self installation for the modem and cable box. At the store they told me that I would know the cable box was set up correctly if it showed the correct time. Honestly I was more in need of internet so I lagged on setting up the cable box, but eventually when I did get to it I was able to set it up and it was showing the correct time, however there wasn't a picture on the tv. I called cox and they sent out a crew to fix the problem. The crew came and said they had to go onto my apartment building roof to fix the problem. Anyways when i got my bill for that month I had a charge in my account for installation services. I went into this location to figure out why I had been charged. I had set up my cable box correctly and whatever they needed to do to fix it was out of my capabilities seeing as it was on the roof. Anyways the lady in the store, unfortunately I cant recall her name, was very helpful and removed the charge and I paid my bill right there. Although it wasn't my first choice, Cox has actually been awesome thus far and really helpful with anything I need, and especially nice at this store! read more

Came in over the weekend to get equipment for the new house. Elizabeth was helping me out. After I added the cable, when I had internet and security already, the bill was $100 more than what I was paying at the old house, without the phone line which I had before. Elizabeth advised me to just add the plan for now and that she was going to look into it for me. Tuesday came around, she gave me a call and cleaned up the mess with a breeze. The "customer service" at this location gives me little faith in the competence of our future workforce. Or perhaps it's just COX customer service specifically that continually leaves me dissatisfied every single time. I thought perhaps that physically going into a location would help. I can't even imagine how many years I have been a Cox customer. I still am- But I can no longer use my Fidelity 3% cash back visa because they claim it was refused. It was refused because I went into the Hillcrest office and handed them the card and they entered it wrong. Now they make me use a deduction from my checking account. How convenient. I was told this is a requirement for the next six months of billing. The bill creep is stealthy and sure. Be sure and compare with your neighbors for fun! In a nutshell: Very sub par customer service (ever since Brian left). One employee who "helped" me actually told me that he dislikes helping people! How about that? I've been a long-time, loyal Cox customer. My bill recently increased $48 per month (w/ no upgrades in service). Between this absurd jump in price, a non-explanation & AWFUL customer service, I'm switching companies. I've started to do my homework... My only conclusion is that Cox doesn't care. Cox Cable is the absolute worst company I have had to deal with. Went to store to start my service last October,, they gave me a bundle for cable and internet. It took two months to get the price they quoted me on that first day!! Then this week we cancelled our services with them, and they tell me I have a 2 year contract and it would cost $255 to cancel it. No one ever told us there was a contract for bundle packages. I didn't agree or sign anything for this contract!! When I asked them they told me it's on the bill and once you make the first payment that is your authorization!! Customer service here is hit & miss. You never know if you're going to get fast & friendly or rude & unhelpful. I like the convenience of this location near my go to Starbucks & Trader Joe's. I came in a couple months ago to stop my HBO & Showtime channels & they sold me on a "supposed" deal that would have me paying less & keeping my pay movie channels. Fast forward couple months & inexplicably my bill is now higher. Their double talk explanation made no sense & I'm tempted to ditch it all & go with a fire stick or roku. read more

Very clean and open space. Plenty of parking. Staff was very nice and attentive. Didn't push upselling once I said no.

I give Cox one star because the system won't allow 0. Internet access and speed are a joke. If you call and complain they will sell you an upgrade. After you upgrade and the system is still slow they will send a repair tech. After cleaning all the contacts, rebooting, guessing and making excuses they will suggest you buy an new router. After you buy a new router you realize it isn't going to get any better, in fact over time it continues to deteriorate as the sell more subscribers to an already overloaded system. read more

First things first... I love COX (shut up with your dirty mind), so this review is an exception to the normally good service I receive whenever I have to go to a store. New location... great Parking... not so great. So, walking into the store where there are eight (at least) employees and NO customers, demands the obligatory "wow, where is everybody." So my problem is that my COX mobile app says I don't have a DVR... WTF???!!! Since I've had a DVR forever... it sits on top of my TIVO... I am so connected, and since the app worked on my old phone, I'm pretty sure the problem is not my fault. Two of the very friendly people ask if they can help and when I tell them the problem, they inform me the one and only person who is pretty good with that technology, is out to lunch. Yeah, OK, ummmm, the one and only person who can sign a check so I can pay my bill, is out to lunch... how would that work for ya. That was inside my head... my outside voice says, "yes, I'll wait the 10 minutes until she returns." As promised, 10 minutes later in comes... somebody. The friendly counter person comes out, stops her and, while i'm standing almost behind the tech wizard, tells her I need help. To which she replies that she is still on lunch. Hmmmm. OK, this isn't Minnesota where the legislature is trying to take away lunch breaks but, let me see... good business practice or common courtesy would dictate; 1, either turn around and address me yourself and tell me you would help me in a few minutes or 2, (and this is how a good, old school business person would kick it) would take the few minutes to fix the problem and either take the rest of the lunch break when finished or just suck it up. Maybe I'm expecting too much because, that's what I would do? Well, I opted to come back since I needed to bring a broken remote control anyway. So, with a nickname like Grumpy Old Ba$tard, maybe I've made a large mountain out of... oh, you know... and who has ever seen a mole hill anyway? My main point here is that out of 9(ish) people working in one "solutions" store there is only one person trained to know about this one particular Cox service. I wish there was a way to give a negative star (like Algebra) review. I called to cancel my cable service and you have to go through the billing people first. It takes them about 20 seconds to answer the call. I've now been on hold for 32 minutes and counting when i said I wanted to cancel service. So I'm going to hang up, grab my cable box, and drive to a store. If they had just made this easy I would have recommended the service as I had no issues with them. Just cutting corners as new car, dental work, and vacation are on horizon. But after what is not 33 minutes and counting, I will always give them crappy reviews and tell my friends to go Direct TV route. read more

I hate Cox Cable service so much I am switching to AT&T U-Verse on the first when I move. The customer service sucks, signing up for easy pay was a joke and my service was interrupted because of it. Like anyone I hate having to sit on the phone explaining why the service blows. DVR fails constantly. Doesn't record shows or records about 10 minutes of them and cuts off. There aren't words for how I feel about all the money I have paid them for cable and Internet services. And why do we have to pay for their technicians to come out and fix THEIR problems??? Cox is practically a monopoly. It's gotten so big that they don't care if they lose customers. So, let's make sure they lose customers! In my experience, they've broken promises, refused to help and even withheld helpful information. I've spent hours on hold and been cut off multiple times. Parked right in front (lucky). Went in at 11:30 to exchange 3 older cable boxes. There was no wait (lucky again). Robert helped me with a swift exchange and I was out the door within 5 minutes. So much better than I expected after reading some of these other posts prior to going in. Advice - have your 'stuff together' before you go and be nice. read more
