Dined at Kalavaras with friends for a girls' dinner in mid-July. It was extremely hot outside, and unfortunately, the enclosed glass area in the front was just as hot. There was a small window air conditioner near our table, but it really didn't do much to cool the space, which made it pretty uncomfortable during dinner. We started with the guacamole, which was very good, and we each ordered a margarita. I had the La Reina, and it was definitely strong! For dinner, I ordered the Pollo DiFunto. It was good and I enjoyed it, although Kalavaras wasn't my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I'm still glad I gave it a try. Overall, we had a nice evening with friends, but I felt the prices were a little higher than some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area. The food was good, but for me, it didn't quite stand out enough to become a favorite. read more

Everything was delicious. My margarita flight was very enjoyable and so good a theif stole a glass. I had the lunch comb with shredded beef, and enchilada and chimichanga. Amazing. It's looks great on the inside. The waiters? The absolute best. I think the owner (I think he was the owner, I'm not sure) he came and he was loud but a funny guy. Loved him. The food? A mexican restaurant with indoor and outside seating. The patio is very nice. Very unique food items on the menu and multiple options of beverages. We did get soft serve margaritas and they were simply delightful. You can get strawberry, coconut, or mixed. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. They seem to have a very steady crowd. Asked the waiter what was his favorite, he said the jalapeño steak burrito. It was awesome. Friends had shrimp tacos and they were great. Blackberry mojito was nice and tart. Only meh thing was my wife's fajita salad. The best thing here however was the vibe. Levis does an excellent job with this restaurant. The decor is modern and full of light with the front facing window wall. I like spicy food. They have something with Chorizo and roasted Jalapeno peppers that came out boiling hot. Ate it for three days and it was still wonderful. It was served in a lava bowl that is put in the oven, when I took it home it was still hot. Mmmmmm good. The service was good, they even had Modelo Negra beer. If you like German Dunkle it goes well. This place was formerly known as Casa Bonita which we were not really fans of. Not sure what has changed besides the name. I had the Charro Tilapia which had a pan fried filet of Tilapia paired with some shrimp, peppers and onion in chipotle sauce. The dish seemed freshly cooked and it was delicious. We also ordered two bowls of chicken tortilla soup. It would have been good but was way too salty and instead of chicken chunks, had shredded chicken. The kids meal of taco, rice and beans seemed fine but nothing special. Service was very good although it was not busy at the time. Worth another try! read more

First time coming here To start off we got fried yucca stuff with cheese 8.5/10 Now when I tell you I was skeptical trying this place out I was but it was so worth it I had their ribeye their steak was so flavorful and it just melted in my mouth 10/10. Absolutely will never be back to this place. Our daughter had dance practice down the street and we came to order to go food while we waited. We put the order in at 7:20pm. The bartender kept asking us to order drinks while we waited, so we ordered two nonalcoholic beverages. We asked to cash out at 7:45 and informed the server/bartender that we had to leave to pick up our child and asked if the food was ready. At 7:55 we were informed they needed 15 more minutes. We asked if we could leave and come back. They said yes. We returned at 8:15 and were told it was still not ready. At 8:30, we asked for a refund. They could not find our bill in the system and asked me to tell them the amount on my credit card that I was charged. When I did that, that told me they would refund me, but they didn't have any cash in their register. While this was all happening, our food was finally done at 8:35. We did not receive a refund and were never informed it would take an hour and fifteen minutes for three entrees, queso dip, and corn. Absolutely ridiculous amount of time to wait for a to go order, when their online ordering system for pick up states that food would be ready in 15 minutes. read more

if you'd ever been to Olesia's when it was at this location, the look hasn't changed much except that there are sugar skull type paintings/images everywhere and they've NOT tried to squeeze live music into what is an already small dining room (thumbs up to that). service was a bit slow at first but picked up after we finally ordered food. ultimately, our service was good. the food was good, but the plates were small and the prices were high compared to literally every other Mexican restaurant we've gone to in the area. my burrito didn't come with any sides and was still the price of a full meal i'd have gotten elsewhere. it's hard for me to recommend based on the price, though, i'm not the person to ask - not much of a fan of Mexican food, normally. so that's what i think. read more

Review: Shrimp Taco Dinner Grilled shrimp with grilled peppers and tomato topped with a pineapple pico de gallo and queso fresco. WOW! Yesterday at noon I was driving on 82 and this restaurant caught my attention. Since it was lunchtime I decided to stop there to try it. I ordered Shrimp Tacos, and these are the best shrimp tacos I have eaten to this date. Shrimp grilled to perfection, combined with flavorful pineapple pico de gallo and peppers, in a soft tortilla was a delight! Nachos with salsa appetizer on the house as my starter and then these awesome set of three tacos. Can't wait to go back to try other entries. Next time I'll take my time and try the grilled meats.
