We wanted to place a catering order-you have to email them. So we did...no reply. Called willoughby location, number not in service. Website says nothing about a closed location. Called Lakewood location several times, no answer. We ordered from Barrio instead. They promptly got back to us in ten minutes. I no longer recommend Hola Tacos for your catering needs. My friend and I came here for lunch after a yoga class that was in the neighborhood. We both thought the atmosphere was super vibrant and playful. Our service was good overall. My friend's quesadillas were delicious, however, I was disappointed by my tacos Al pastor dish. The pork was fatty and the flavors of the overall dish were a bit bland. We stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for a table to open up down the street. The venue and vibe were very cool--a few TVs if you want to watch the game, decently busy, but not slammed. The birria tacos sounded so good that I was half hoping that the place we were waiting on was going to call and say they had no room. But alas, we just ended up doing a quick mojito and peacing out. The drink was good, but not great; they used real mint and brown sugar, which is better than I typically expect this far north. But the ratio was definitely a bit off, particularly with the soda. ***WORD TO THE WISE*** They are charging an 18% service charge and then asking for a tip on top of the service fee. We had a three people dining. (See photo) The food was a total miss in my opinion and my $11.00 margarita tasted watered down with barely any tequila in it and came out in just a regular pint glass. (Refer to photo) Our family of three only ordered queso and chips, guacamole and chips and salsa and chips. Those three items came out to $24.00. The chips that came with the dips tasted just like the chips you'd buy at a high school concession stand. I did not care for them at all. Also, they only gave us three chips for our $6.00 chips and salsa. (Refer to photo) As for the seating, the decor is really pretty but there were several tables that had food all over them that weren't getting bussed. The food on the table beside us sat for over 30 minutes before someone came and cleaned it. The patio was even worse. Multiple tables with food on them and weren't getting bussed and there were several birds back there having a hay day. Parking is also a challenge. The amount of money we spent on such very little food and drink is ridiculous to me. With that said, our family will have to say adios tacos to hola tacos, because this is a one and done restaurant for us. read more

Loved my pineapple mojito at Hola Tacos! It was sweet and delicious, just like a great mojito should taste. Our dinners were good too. I had a steak burrito and my husband had tacos. The service was attentive and the restaurant had a fun atmosphere. There was plenty of street parking when we went early on a Saturday night. The only downside is that they included an 18% gratuity on our bill for two people. I don't think I've ever been charged an automatic gratuity on a table for two. It certainly won't keep me from coming back but next time I will know not to add a tip. I would have given four stars if the waiter had mentioned the automatic gratuity but we didn't notice it until after we added our tip. read more

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It took quite a while for me to be greeted and waited on my by a server after being seated. My food came extremely quickly....less than 3 minutes after I ordered. What was most concerning is that my food was cold (which led me to think that it was sitting around the kitchen from an incorrect order from a prior table's order). The quesabirria is AMAZING! Also the queso and chips. Someone wrote they only got three chips but failed to mention they are 6 inches in diameter. You break them into pieces. And they do NOT taste like grocery store chips! They are quite thick and have great corn flavor. I haven't notice the service charge but I usually order takeout. The standard US tipping model is a little sketchy and I would support restaurants paying employees well and nixing the tip. But that's not the norm now and the restaurant really must disclose if it has a service fee so that everyone knows! read more

Beware that they add a 18% service charge without telling you. I didn't look that closely at my bill so I went to pay and my server just turned the screen around to add a tip and I added (another) 18%, so he got $26 dollars on a $67 bill. Shady move. read more

Party of two, we had one appetizer that we shared, two taco entree's that were on the smallish side, and two margarita's. The taco entree's were good but not filling even after the appetizer. The margarita's were small and served in plastic cups, no salted rim. They played Mexican music that was too loud and disturbed any conversation. The outside atmosphere was okay, colorful and cozy. The service was good. There was very little parking, maybe 5 cars at most. When we got the check, I was surprised to see that it was well over $70. We pay that at our favorite steakhouse and sometimes have to bring home leftovers. Bottom line is that I was NOT impressed with Hola Taco. Both of the last times I went, there was a new menu. Each one took away things I liked such as Birria Chicken Tacos first, now they have no Chorizo. Prices go up even though food quality has gone downhill, and the staff are too overworked to get food out consistently. Tacos seem to no longer come on a tray with parchment paper so the tacos are just soaked in its own juice. My dinner alone was just a queso appetizer and a coke bottle...Managed to rack my bill up to almost $16 though BECAUSE THIS COMPANY ADDS A "SERVICE FEE" TO YOUR TOTAL BEFORE YOU EVEN GET TO ADD A TIP. This place is a rip off, two years ago it was really good, but now it's just overpriced low quality food, slow service, hidden fees, employees are either frantic or lazy, feel bad for any managers stuck here. Food is great and so is the service! The atmosphere outside in the back is enjoyable as well and they allow dogs which is a major bonus. I'm surprised to see some not so great reviews as I've eaten here several times so far and have no complaints. The pizza is a huge portion (enough for two or three) for a very reasonable price and tastes great. The tacos are good too. The margaritas were solid, a bit sweet, but also strong. Pitchers are a tad overpriced in my opinion but there are many other drink options. The automatic 18% gratuity is a somewhat annoying but as long as you know that going into it I don't see it as a problem as the service has always been tremendous--Juan Pablo in particular. Please do NOT go here..... my 2 friends and I came as a last resort after being turned away from two other places. We got sat in incredibly uncomfortable chairs and were served water with a shard of glass in it that cut my tongue. Waitress simply got a new water...Would have bailed then but we were very hungry. 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 beer, 1 margarita, and a soda still came to $100!!!! I had high expectations for this place, but sadly they weren't met. Our server was very friendly but not very attentive. Instead of giving us an itemized list, they made us quickly pay on a tablet system. Upon asking for our receipt we realized we paid for something we never even ordered. If we didn't ask for a list of our items we would've never known that we were charged for something extra. They refunded us without problem, but looking at the receipt we realized they charged us an 18% "service fee" on top of the 20% we already tipped. It felt as if they use a tablet system to be able to rack on extra costs. So beware. Pretty alright food though and the place was decorated nicely. read more
