My rating is purely based on prices, quantity and prices. I came into this establishment with 2 others, we were greeted very rudely by a young lady who could not be any older then 18. When we finally got the food ordered, I had calamari and chips, which the calamari was amazing but the price did not match the quantity, the other stuff ordered by the other with me seemed to have the same issue, plus one them got food poisoning due to cross contamination of cooking and deep frying a chicken strip that is very likely came frozen in the same oil with the fish, its a major problem when your chicken strip tastes like fish. Not to mention the one who got the chicken strip landed in the bathroom, and just because they were closing up the same girl who was rude to us, popped her head in the woman's room telling them to hurry up and get out they were trying close. For place that has been around this long, I am not sure how they have stayed open, thanks to that chicken strip that person is still sick from Thursday and we are on Saturday now. We will never be back, there are far better places with better reputations in the area. read more

By chance we stopped in for dinner on the way back from a weekend at the coast. We got the "bouillabaisse" for $31.00. It had 1 cluster of a small dungeness (the meat from the knuckle had been removed - probably to be used for some other application), 3 u-20 shrimp, 3 bay scallops and 2 oysters. This amount of protein will cost a restaurant about $6.00. The broth was made from dehydrated vegetables and pre-chopped garlic and tasted like Top Ramen. To top it off, a glass of Hogue Pinot Grigio was $8.50, the same price you can buy a bottle of it for at 7-11. This was by far and without question the worst dining experience I have had in the past decade, horrible food and outrageously over priced. This week my husband and I snuck away for a couple days. We stopped at the crab pot for dinner thinking we would splurge and have a nice dinner. We first went in to the fish market there was not much in the cases except some packaged smoked scallops and canned something. Lots of crabs in the live tanks though. We decided not to buy anything but did go into the restaurant area and have dinner. We decided to share the Captain platter and got a extra cup of chowder (couldnt stomach) Ok.... I've worked in restaurants since I was 15.. please if you are going to charge $60.00 for 1 dinner and a soup please at least use "REAL" dishes! Everything came in plastic or paper throw away containers. Guaranteed you'll save alot of $ by just washing the dishes. Established in 1946...seems like they are stuck in that period. Mind you my family is mixed with White and Samoan. The way they interact with white folks is so much different than with POC families. The only interaction we got was upon arrival when an elderly woman told my family to sit down and then when we received our food. After that we were not asked if we were doing all right nor did they refill our waters. They did, however, check on every other table in the restaurant. The employees must have walked past our table a dozen of times and didn't even make eye contact. At this point we had finished our food and had enough so we decided to leave. As a conservative I feel that it is my duty to address actual racism when I see it or in this case when I experience it. Shame on the owner and the employees at this establishment. The food was great, ordered the basket with various seafood (1 piece each) with fries and coleslaw. The seafood was perfectly cooked and the coleslaw was delicious. I thought $21 was a tad overpriced for the serving size, but still it was good. With COVID restrictions you order and pay at the counter before you are are seated, waited in line about 15 minutes with a couple people in front of us. They aren't accommodating parties larger than 6 when I was there last week. There is a sign on the window that says something along the lines of "due to government handouts we are understaffed" which I thought was pretty tacky. They could have simply stated they are understaffed, but included the extra dig at people who are unemployed or receiving stimulus checks. I agree with the "trying local seafood while on the coast" concept, so we went here for lunch one day while exploring the coast. Allegedly the chowder soup was good - I did not try it. We both got the fish & chips - a lot of beer battered food that was really well done (including the cole slaw - not beer battered but it's hard to find good cole slaw!), but overall not really worth the price. But still really well done! But not worth the price. But still really well done! The service was definitely great and the bar scene was inviting. And the bathroom was amazing. So there's that. It would be a good place to take my parents if they decide to go to the coast while visiting. So the funny thing is this: Drive by and this place looks old, not much to see and certainly no roadside appeal. Fancier places are just down the road. Get past the front door and you will find some amazing local seafood. Everything we tried to top-notch and fresh. We were lucky and stopped in for lunch, plenty of space to sit and easy parking. We drove by later that evening and the place was packed. The sampler platter was terrific and quite filling. The breaded clams are awesome too. We stopped in for a late lunch, and were simultaneously surprised and pleased. The restaurant setup itself is oddly nontraditional. Rather than take a seat, order, and wait to be served, you order at the counter and food is brought out to you. Ultimately, we liked this setup, although ultimately (And this is likely because we were the only ones dining at the time) this led to us being a bit ignored by the one waitstaff on duty. The food itself was surprisingly good. Crab came out fresh from the tank and deliciously prepared. The clam chowder was good, though a bit runnier than my typical preference. The only real negative about the food was the garlic bread served with the dinner meal, which was just store-bought Texas toast. In all, it was great food, in an ok dining space (it's decor is a bit wanting, but perhaps any more would be too pretentious for this ocean-side town), though on the pricy side. I really liked the owner who was personable, capable, and affable. I'd love to give this more stars, but the quality of dining experience didn't quite match the price. I'd happily go back, and would want to do so. However, next time I'm in Long Beach I'll also have to try out some of the other options. read more

The fish tacos are the favorite but you get two little Tacos. My husband was still hungry when we left. Also it's hard enough to get out of the house with a 2 year old let one eat out. We usually bring out toddler some snacks because we all know they can get picky while eating out. Well the waiter said we weren't allowed to bring in the food for her. And we had to put it away. He said it was against the law. On the way out we looked every where to see if there was a sign saying no food or drink inside. Nothing not one sign. Dropped in here this morning minutes after they opened and was wowed by the customer service! We had just spent two nights in Long Beach and I wanted to take some cracked crab with me to snack on during the drive home. Not only is it the best crab I have eaten in years but the gal running the seafood store part of it gave us awesome advice on local places to see on our next trip! She also packed my crab and smoked salmon in ice and gave me dynamite little cooler! She made me feel like I had just made a new friend! We will be back! Thank you! P.s. We were pleasantly surprised! This was our second time eating here - the first time (many years ago) we went through the back door and I swear it felt like a different restaurant - we did not have a good experience then. It was a totally different set up (like a normal restuarnt where the wait staff came to take your order) and the food was really high priced for what you got (it also wasn't that great tasting) so I'm not sure if there's new management or what. But this time - we went through the front and it was really good. I had the garlic shrimp scampi special and my hubby had the fish and chips. Both were nice sized portions and cooked perfectly. When you first go in (the front) you grab a menu then seat yourself. You then decide what you want and order and pay at the front counter. A little confusing, but not a bid deal. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They have an actual store in the same building if you wanted to purchase fresh/frozen seafood which was pretty interesting too. Also, while we were there, several people came in to order their fried oysters - every one of them said they were the best they'd ever eater. One guy actually took an order to go so he could eat them on his drive home! So when we do come back, that'll be something we need to try. I'm glad we gave them a second shot! read more

My husband and I were looking for a light lunch. We decided on a crab cake and bowl of clam chowder. Both were good. I liked that the clams were minced so you get clam in every bite. It was NOT over "potatoed" like so many can be. The crab cake was good. It was big around, but fairly thin very much like a pancake. Loved the sauce served on it. My crab was fun filled with large black crevices and there was brown dirt on my lettuce. I asked for a different crab, but their replacement was just as bad. We had a nice lunch here. Their fish counter (to order to-go seafood fresh) is jam packed with local offerings of crab, fish by the pound and clams. We sat and had beer by the bottle, the 3 piece cod basket and my kid had fries and chicken. Everything was delicious. Probably the best cocktail sauce I have ever had, and to save money they make most everything from scratch in-house. (YES! Wise choice!) The reviews on here regarding the pricing should be disregarded - this places pricing is totally in line with other FRESH seafood options in the area, and at the port of Ilwaco as well. You can't argue market price and honestly, their halibut was $5 less a pound then you find in Vancouver/Portland. In fact my husband and I shared the 3 piece cod basket and it was plenty for both of us, making it a good buy for very fresh, crispy seafood. Thank you! read more

Fabulous seafood. Fresh and delicious. The restaurant is not ventilated well, so it's pretty stuffy. It's old, but clean. We have coming to Long Beach for a few years and this is the first time we stopped in..... and we won't ever come back to this place. From the beginning when you first walk in, you take a menu and you order at the counter... I get they have to keep low cost, but you loose customers. I have 14 years of Catering, and this was a bad experience. My oyster basket was oily, my husband ordered the cod basket and it was oiled also, my sister in law ordered the claim chowder, and they brought her a fork, instead of a spoon, not kids friendly, the owner or whoever the person was, when we sat down, my youngest son, got moved to inside of the table, versus him being on the outside( I have never had that happening at any places that I have dined). The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant overall looked clean, but it definitely can have improved the food and customer service. read more

Looking for a place for lunch in Longbeach, we opted for the Crab Pot. Like many of the prior reviews, our thought was that with its adjacency to a fresh seafood market, the seafood items would at least be fresh, and therefore tasty. Instead, the Crab Pot kitchen did its level best to prove to me beyond any doubt that "freshness" isn't everything. But first, the service... I pitied our waiter. Our waiter (who was apparently the only waiter) was somewhat busy, but very prompt, polite, and cheerful. Nice guy. It's a crime to make competent wait staff serve such mediocre food to paying customers. Our conversation should have gone something like this: "How was everything?" "Well, Bob, it was awful, frankly, but we want you to know that we don't hold you personally responsible, OK? You were awesome. We're sorry you had to serve us such glop with a smile. You should work somewhere else." Instead, it went like this: "How was everything?" "Fine. Can we get the check?" As for the food? Really, really poor. Unnecessarily poor. Insultingly poor. It was lunch, but I was hungry, so I ordered the bouillabaisse with a salad. My partner ordered a Crab Louis. The salads were pre-washed, wilted, run-of-the-mill salad mix well past its prime with the odd bit of semi-decomposing vegetable leaf scattered throughout. Think "I bought a 'green salad in a bag' from Safeway, on sale, because it's only one day past the use-by date". Piling crab on top of that dejected mass of expired lettuce did not help it much. Then the bouillabaisse. This was a comically disappointing attempt at a classic. Shellfish - two of everything. Two mussels, two oysters, two shrimp, two horribly bitter (cold in the middle) scallops, but only one small half of dungeness crab, served in a shallow chafing dish. All resting in a thin, clear, mostly flavorless muck at the bottom of which were a handful of tiny identically sized, formerly dried bits of vegetable. I'm relatively certain that you'll find most of the Crab Pot's bouillabaisse recipe in a packet of Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix. I would describe this as "Better than some prison food", but not much... read more

Slow and overpriced. Took 20 minutes for water then two of the meals were serves with what tasted like old or bad meat. The waitress came back and said it tasted fine to her and didn't know what our problem was. Needless to say id recommend avoiding the place if at all possible. read more

I went to the crab pot with a friend for lunch for the first time today, it was awesome, they have daily specials, the owner Sue was extremely friendly and had told us some fun history facts about the place. The food was well worth the price and I am definitely going back. read more
