We decided to try this restaurant, as our first restaurant, on our first visit to Long Beach. We picked it because there were lots of cars in the parking lot. This is the beginning of off-season (Late Sept) and this means the locals like it too. It's not a fancy restaurant at all, but very clean, which is what we wanted. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I had a bowl of clam chowder and I am very particular about my clam chowder. I have been trying clam chowder all over the Oregon Coast, as far down as Bandon, OR and this is my first clam chowder on the Washington coast. It was so great! Loved it! It made my top favorites list, which is hard to do. I would bet money it was 100% homemade. My husband had fish & chips and he said it was very good too. Don't worry about the reviews. Got late to Long Beach and our first choice Captain Bob's Chowder was close for vacation... not many options for a quick lunch, we ended going to Crab Pot. Service was mediocre, a big lack of enthusiasm when the server mentioned the specials... and same attitude (just polite) during the whole stay. Food came fast, but I don't agree with some of the reviews here. The chowder was all cream, and barely found a couple of clams in each cup. Maybe not the worst I've ever had, but definitely not good at all. Prawns with fries were properly cooked considering the size d the prawns, but both prawns and fries were too brown and greasy. The crab cakes were the best dish, two big and thin patties, very tasty! I'm sure there are many better options than this within 10min driving. Next time in LongBeach will try something else, doesn't mean it was terrible. read more

If you drive past the Crab Pot while surfing Long Beach, WA looking for dinner on a June Saturday night... don't turn around and give it a try. Keep looking! We gave it a try as visitors to town and were pretty disappointed. We thought we were lucky to get a table and the server was very pleasant. But while we waited 40 MINUTES for our simple order of fish sandwiches to arrive, we were blasted with very loud obnoxious music, which made every conversation in the place a need for shouting! Noise level was totally unacceptable. My $15 fried fish sandwich was actually pretty good, although over-priced, as were the batter dipped fries. But my wife's $18 (!) grilled hallibut sandwich, requested with no tartarsauce, was a puny 2 Oz portion of fish in a bun slathered on both sides with generous gobs of the unwanted sauce. She pointed this out and asked for another bun, and a half bun was delivered with no comment and no time to ask for a second un-sauced half. As locals, we have learned when to frequent restaurants and when to stay away due to crowds of tourists in the summer. We visited the Crab Pot at 3pm, Friday, for what we like to call "linner" meaning we are having a late lunch and early dinner combined. We were greeted with smiles by two young women and shown to a table immediately. After we were seated three more tables became occupied so there were four tables total being served. We both ordered the cod fish and chips and were not disappointed. We got two huge pieces of battered cod and very good French fries, fresh and hot. I had an iced tea and my husband had lemonade which he commented was very good. The batter was a little thicker than I like but it was easy to peel some of it off. The tartar sauce was good - not the sweet stuff I dislike. Service speed was normal for the peninsula, and our server came by later to make sure we were happy. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and the price was reasonable - especially considering how much fish we got. The menu covers just about anything you would want so even fussy kids would be happy. I would recommend the Crab Pot for a good meal but I would also recommend coming back at another time if there is a long line up because I think the noise level would be very loud. Also I think the service would probably be less attentive with only two servers. There is also a fish market adjoining the restaurant with fresh crabs in tanks, oysters, various clams and I believe cooked crab also. Enjoy! read more

This was only our second trip to Long Beach. We were hungry so looked for places to eat. I wish we had passed this place up and not stopped. The only thing that gets any star is the seafood and the waitress that was not even our waitress. To begin with our waitress came and asked if we had ordered, we said no and then she asked if we had just sat down. I told her we had only been there about 5 minutes. We were told that there were only 2 waitresses on staff and then there was a guy who seemed in charge. We were seated quickly and order in not long after. It was about 35 minutes later that our food came, reasonable enough for how busy it was. The steamed vegetables looked so overcooked and gross that I could not even try them. I asked for a replacement and asked for a side salad, I got a large bowl of mostly greens with cucumbers that were wet and soft. When I asked about that the waitress told me that those had been cut fresh this morning(there is no way those were kept properly if that is the case). I was going to eat dessert but there was no way after all that. You can be assured we will not go back and I would advise anyone to run, not walk to some other place. read more

It's a small town vibe and if you go in with the mindset of that and real seafood, husband and wife run it, then you'll walk out with full bellies and a happy spirit. We ordered 2 crab cocktails (2 for $20)and a 3 pc halibut fish and chips ($17 if I recall). Both dishes were delicious! The crab cocktail was a small portion for the price, but was tasty. The halibut was hand dipped, so moist, flaky and fresh. The coating was light and crunchy and the pieces were a good size. The fries were even good, and I'm not a big fan of French fries. Service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was very clean and decorated nicely, even the bathrooms were nice and updated. Wish I could have shopped the seafood market that is right at the main entrance. The gentleman that helped us was very friendly and was willing to recommend some cooking ideas including how to cook up our fresh clams for our pasta. Our clams were outstanding (very clean and fresh) and the prawns and scallops were delicious too. Prices were a bit high, but for 1 dinner while on vacation were were OK paying that for a local establishment that was friendly and helpful. This place is a tourist trap, so if your looking for great or even good seafood, go someplace else. With tip, our bill came to eighty dollars and that's sixty dollars too much for the quality of food we received. I ordered the two crab cakes for twenty-three dollars and added the side salad and a piece of garlic bread for six dollars more. The crab-cakes were sub-par at best, filled with mostly fillers and very little crab. I don't believe the crab was Dungeness crab but blue crab. The lettuce was wilted and the vegetables were old. The aioli on the crab cakes was sparse. My GF ordered the sampler platter and the seafood was greasy and the breading was falling off, the only good thing was the clam chowder, very tasty. I have worked in the seafood industry for several years and I know fresh seafood and this wasn't even close. As from other reviews on here, this place is not rated very high, believe the reviews. In our household, we refer to this place as "The Chum Bucket". Since we had our first and last dining experience here, it turns out that several friends have had the same experience as well. Most everyone I've talked to also thinks it's that memorably bad. After a long autumn day of hiking and bumming around the coast, we dropped in on a late Saturday afternoon to warm ourselves up with a quick bowl of clam chowder. I guess we should have taken it as a hint when we were the only people in the restaurant and we had to hunt down a server. (If they weren't ready to serve at 4PM, they could have at least said so and we could have come back, sheese) Someone finally came out of the back to take our order ten or so minutes after we sat down, we never saw another another soul for the next half hour. At that point, another person brought out a cold, 2 cup size, bowl of chowder (how can you screw that up?) and a bill for $10. No utensils, no napkins, no follow up, no nothing. Rather than complain that it was cold and get a bowl full of someone's cigarette butts, snot, and pubic hair in return, we decided to cut our losses and visit the nearby IGA. My biggest regret from the entire experience is that we weren't carrying 20 rolls of pennies with us. read more

This accounts for the one star....for consistency. The Crab Pot is ideal for tourists from Oklahoma who wouldn't know a crab from a periwinkle. I know preparing good seafood is not something anyone can do, but if it is your reason for being in business you should at least give it an honest try. For about the same or a little more, you can get an awesome meal at the Depot or The Lost Roo (a place I did not originally like but have since changed my opinion), or The Beaver and Heron. I had a hankering for crab legs so you'd think a place named The Crab Pot would be the perfect spot. Not only at the slim selection of items but the ridiculous prices! OMG, most dishes were about $25-$30... and we're talking about items such as fried fish, calamari and oysters. There were all of TWO crab options: a whole dungeness crab for $30 and 1 lb of crab legs for $28 with NO sides. But what were gonna do, eh? It was getting late and I had semi-high hopes that somehow the food would be worth these prices. I ordered the crab legs, mom had fish and chips & dad had a chicken ceasar salad. Mom's fish and chips was decent but definitely not worth $26. The chicken on dad's ceasar looked like that chopped, reconstituted stuff you'd get out of a bag. And sadly, although served in a mighty fancy metal steamy contraption, my crab was overcooked and watery. I wonder how many times it had been cooked and reheated. Not even worth the time it took to crack the legs. Oh, let me not forget to mention the cold, hard baguette (with no butter) that was served with the legs. Ew. Total bill for all this crap? $85 On the whole this place seemed to fit the sad, desperate feeling that now permeates Long Beach. The service here was mediocre, the restaurant was cold (which is irritating when you want warmth when you're traveling in January during a storm). I certainly didn't see any fresh sea food options on the menu, it was all stuff you could have gotten at Red Lobster. Slightly better quality, but that's it. The crab came out cold, and they charge extra to heat it back up. Apparently the cook all the crab in the morning and give the option to re-steam for a charge ($3 a person) which I thought was a bit ridiculous. The crab was perfectly cooked when it came out, but re-steaming it slightly overcooked it. The clam chowder was not good, I can get better chowder at skippers down the street at home.
