    Shrimp Louie! Fresh and crisp
    Ellen C.

This place has the best clam chowder in the World! It was so good we secured a quart of this yummy goodness for our trip home!! The Crab Pot is an understated little place right off Pacific Avenue in Long Beach. Service staff of one was friendly. Ambiance was understated but clean. For a Monday afternoon meal we were blown away by the freshness of the food! Will definitely be back for more!

I was expecting some nice grilled oysters, in garlic butter sauce, but.. I got something totally different, no butter, no garlic, but some cheese creations. Fishy taste, with some sand as well. The service was fantastic, the waitress was excellent, attentive, quick, friendly.

    Fish tacos

It is a seafood place with a slight Mexican feel to the food. I got the fish tacos while my friend ordered the shrimp tacos, my other chose was crab cakes. The food came quickly and I think it was delicious My tacos were pretty much how I make the at home fish , cabbage, sauces and shell. That's it. That is really all I like in my fish tacos. It had a good atmosphere ( unlike the restaurant in the moon) A lot of people getting their food for the evening. Good average space to eat.

The halibut fish n chip were quite large and delicious! I really enjoyed their fries too!

We saw the Crab Pot on the side of the road and decided to give it a try because it looked like it would be a good seafood spot. There were people waiting outside to get in so we went to the the "take-out" side of the restaurant to avoid the crowd. We ordered the Halibut Fish and Chips (3 pieces) because the server recommended it. She stressed that it was not a standard menu item and asked us to confirm how many pieces we wanted. She even counted the pieces with her fingers and we thought it was a bit odd. It turns out we didn't take the hint (that maybe it was too much) and confirmed our order. The server took our order and then I realized that the 3 piece Halibut Fish and Chips meal cost me almost $40 (including tip). To be honest with ya'll, I was shocked at the price when she rang me up. This was going to be the most expensive Fish and Chips I would ever have! She told us they would bring the food to the car, so I waited in the passenger seat, still in shock. Maybe 10 minutes later, a gentleman delivered a neatly packed order to our car. I opened the box and realized that they gave us three large filets of Halibut. Each piece was probably big enough for one person on their own. When I bit into the Fish, the batter was light and crispy and the fish itself was moist. The fries were good too! I am really picky and passionate about fries and I think they are excellent! After we finished the meal, it dawned on me that despite the sticker shock, we got a lot of high quality fish for the money. I just wish the server would have have communicated the portions and price better because we could have ordered a smaller amount or been prepared for the big bill. Overall, I'd recommend the place IF you know what you are getting yourself into to avoid some frustration, or in my case, sticker shock!

Always been curious about this place and just got a chance to try it with the new owners. Service was friendly & knowledgeable. Menu options were plentiful & reasonably priced. The bar area looked inviting although we couldn't partake as we had our teenage daughter with us but we will be back. Recommend stopping by & giving it a shot.

    Shrimp Tempura tacos
    Brenda R.

I visited Long Beach yesterday after a 2.5 hr drive and decided to stop here. Ordered the shrimp tempura tacos and let me tell you, they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They were up there with some of the best tacos I've ever had. There were 2 gigantic shrimp that completely filled the taco and delish slaw on top. They were huge and tasty! I knew I had to come back here and leave a review and let me tell you I was shocked to see the low rating. I'm glad I gave this place a shot without looking at the yelp reviews because I will definitely be back the next time I visit. The server was so sweet and the food came out quick! I will say, it was pretty empty when we first arrived and then it got super busy so I am not sure how they do with busy crowds.

The theme is nautical, as one would expect: Oars, octopi, anchors, and ships' wheels on the walls, some of them bordering on humor, suggesting that they aren't entirely stodgy. It's clean. The play Country music on the PA. Note for professional coffee drinkers: They will get you half and half if you ask for it, but they bring out non-dairy creamer first. The service is friendly, but it seemed understaffed while we were there this time. The food: Oyster shooters: Enough horseradish for a change. Wonderful. Cod fish and chips. We split them. The coleslaw was a tad tame. Nothing special. Spartan, like the interior. The tartar sauce was standard, but not too sweet. The fish was delicate with a light breading. No oil taste. Not bad. The fries were good with salt alone - the hallmark of good fries. They had a coating for extra crispiness, possible flour or cornstarch (maybe both). Everything was good, but not adventurous. We got a slice of thick toast with the meal that seemed unnecessary. The coffee tastes like the percolated kind that I had as a child. It brought back fond memories of formica tables, cigarette smoke, and a dog under the table. The food is plain and serviceable, like the interior, but it's also solid, just like you need sometimes when you don't want to take chances, and need some good eats.

We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu.
