My favorite is the Cajun pasta they give you a respectable good amount of shrimp , mixed with red and green bell peppers in a buttery Cajun sauce ( you won't regret it ) . This is the best place in San Diego I've tried a few other places and doesn't compare , they also just opened one at the plaza bonita Westfield mall I haven't tried it but I heard it's really good . This neighborhood place is such a gem!! I came here a few days ago to eat and watch the basketball game (TONS of TVs so you can watch from nearly any table). The seafood was cooked perfectly and the sauce is SO GOOD. What was really surprising is the sweet corn poppers, SOOOO GOOD. Had a fun birthday dinner here with a small group of friends. I shared the snow crab and shrimp bag with my partner and it was more than enough food. We chose the mild with old bay and garlic butter and it was absolutely delicious! We also ordered the cheese curds which needed a sauce and the cajun seasoned edamame which were okay. My order was supposed to be ready at 8:10, I arrive at 8:20, 3 girls are walking around laughing, complaining, and serving tables. I'm not big on crawfish/shellfish in general but my wife loves the stuff. I ordered the spicy cajun pasta based off the pictures this restaurant has online of their pasta dish. What I received was far removed from the pictures they had online. It looked like something I could have made when I was 8 years old rather than by a professional chef. It was literally just noodles, a couple pieces of sausage, cooking oil, and cajun seasoning. It tasted exactly like the cajun seasoning you can buy at a grocery store. The pictures advertising this dish made it look creamy, with large amounts of cheese dashed into the noodles, but there was zero creamy flavor in what was served to me at all. To top it off, the dish was $19 and was one of the most unappetizing things I've had served to me lately. I also ordered garlic bread - to call it anything but just a slice of bread would be generous. There was a small amount of cheese baked onto the top and a tiny amount of butter and garlic, but the bottom of the bread was dry. It felt like they picked up a french roll at Vons, barely did anything to it and then served it out like that. Service staff was also pretty rude to my wife. They didn't give her all of the items she was supposed to receive in her seafood boil. When we pointed this out, the server tried to ask my wife if she had already eaten it (it was corn on the cob, and there was obviously no corn in the boil bag or on our table). We eventually got what we paid for, but all of the service staff was rude to us and ultimately we won't be coming back to this or any other crab pub location. read more

Decided to try a new crab place that's outside of Convoy area. Crab Pub has been opened for 3 years but I find it odd that they still have a banner that says "Grand Opening" on the side that faces the parking lot and an actual sign facing the street. We got seated right away and given limes, gloves, and bibs. I love that they still give gloves unlike other places. It's the form fitting nitrile type gloves which are better quality, rather than the disposable gloves that are thin and oversized. We ordered: Fried calamari basket ($12) - All baskets are served with fries, we substituted for waffle fries ($1). The calamari was lightly breaded. I enjoyed the waffle fries more than the calamari. Cajun edamame ($5) - Not so Cajun. It's basically blanched edamame, sprinkled with Cajun spice. Tasted very bland, no flavor. Combo #1 ($45.99): Mix and match any 3, one pound each - crawfish, shrimp, mussel, or clams. We got all but mussels in medium pub style seasoning. The pub style seasoning consist of Cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter. The medium definitely had a kick and I was not prepared to pat down my face every few minutes. I like a lot of sauce and felt that the liquid sauce amount was very limited. I normally break up the potatoes and leave it in until the end so that it could absorb the sauce but it was impossible. The sauce was just too thick, dry and grainy for my liking compared to other places. Combo #3 ($37.99): 1 king and 1 snow crab legs - Crab was very sweet. Looks like they give the same measurement of sauce because the crab did not soak up much sauce compared to the 4 pounds of seafood in combo #1. Afterwards, we learned from a local that they dine here frequently and recommended to mix the mild and medium seasoning. Had no idea that you could even mix more than one seasoning! Not sure if I would come back when there are so many other competitors and Crab Pub did not offer something different. Drinks are $3 which I think is on the pricy side but you get unlimited refills. Be sure to ask for a straw so that you can comfortably drink hands free. read more
