I usually get eggs and toast (boring, I know), but one of my friends loves the crab cakes benedict. I like the low key atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and a lot of locals go there (at least when I have been. As someone who grew up on Cape Cod and still goes back to visit family, I try to avoid the Cape during July/early-August). read more

Had breakfast here yesterday - it was just Fair. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen, as the waitstaff was good. Omelette over cooked, toast burned, burned bits of someone else's blueberries in the plain pancakes, and the home made hash was really indistinguishable from something out if a can (and burned), fortunately very small portions. read more

I had not been at Crabapples for a while, but read the review in regard to the blueberry french toast. I decided to try the blueberry pancakes and sausage. It was really good! The pancakes were just right and came with heated syrup. Excellent sausage, just the right amount of spice. This puts Crabapple right up there with Moonakis which is the best breakfast restaurant in the area. Like Moonakis, the service was warm and friendly. All in all a very good experience. read more

We had dinner here tonight. It would have been 5 stars for Ali alone. She was charming, observant, energetic and knowledgeable about the menu. She noticed our table was tippy and asked if we'd like her to fix it, which she did. But the food was also terrific. First we were interested in the fish chowdah. Alan asked if there were bacon in it and when Ali assured him there was not, we each ordered a cup. For those who don't know us, Alan is on a low sodium diet and can no longer eat bacon. Ali brought us some bread and butter. Alan asked about beers and I asked about wines by the glass, not noticing there was a list on a triangular stand on the table. Ali tactfully recited them rather than pointing out that the list was right there. I chose a Murphy-Goode Pinot Noir. I'm seeing a lot of Sonoma wines on menus here in New England. She described the beers and Alan decided on a local amber. The other dark choice was Guinness, which he dislikes. We both ordered off the specials menu. I ordered a split roasted chicken, which came served over stuffing and w/ cranberry sauce. Fortunately Alan, who knows my tendency not to read the menu descriptions completely, pointed out there was gravy involved. He knows I'm not fond of gravy and wouldn't be happy to find it all over my chicken. I asked Ali for it on the side, although I should have asked that it be held entirely. Two sides came w/ my meal. Butternut squash was one and coleslaw was another. The rest were potato variations. I asked if there were any other vegetable options and she said there was a mixture of carrots, zucchini and onions. That was what I wanted. Alan ordered a seafood pasta w/ shrimp, scallops, haddock and mussels over linguine in a garlic, wine and tomato sauce. The chowdah was delicious. We both enjoyed it. My wine was lovely. When our mains arrived I was amazed at the size of the chicken. I started w/ the wing, then gave Alan the leg. The squash was fresh and flavorful. It just tasted real, clearly not from a can. There was minimal seasoning, just the taste and texture of the squash and it was wonderful. The dressing was tasty and the carrots, zucchini and onions were nicely caramelized. Alan gave me tastes of mussel, haddock and scallop, all of which were fabulous. The portion of his dish was generous, w/ lots of everything. I ate as much of the chicken as I wanted, leaving the breast, which is my least favorite part. Ali offered to wrap it up for me to take, but I said it would just go to waste. She understood. Needless to say we didn't have dessert. Next week their winter hours are ending and starting on the 16th they will be open for dinner every night. I'm sure we'll be back, whether it will be for brunch or dinner I'm not sure. That lobster Benedict sounds awfully good. After paying, we left and as Alan was backing out of the parking space, Ali came rushing out holding his cap, which he had left under his chair. She said the woman behind him had noticed and brought it to her attention. Marvelous. read more

We were in town for a hockey tournament, and this was one of the restaurants nearby with good reviews that was open during the off-season, so we tried it for lunch between games. I had the crab cakes and they were just amazing, and I couldn't get enough of their fish chowder. My husband and I are both addicted! We came back two more times during our stay for breakfast and it was just as good as lunch, if not better. The #5 (Boston Breakfast) and Irish Benedict were delicious. My boyfriend & I came here while on vacation and ordered the Portuguese kale soup, buffalo chicken, Cajun chicken wrap, the steak tips & even a slice of chocolate cream pie to top it off. Everything we ordered tasted fresh & delicious! This is a small restaurant that takes pride in what they do. The restaurant filled up quickly for the lunch rush, but the servers were so attentive & handled it professionally..you could tell they loved their jobs & that's super important! BEWARE, Lousy service experience. Called (and paid) ahead, over one hour later, no food. I let them know I was in parking lot, even spoke face-to-face with parking lot server. She said food would be "just 5 more min.", which would have been 40 minutes total, which was bad enough. Finally went in, my fried seafood was waiting on counter. I was assured it had only been sitting there "10 minutes". In fariness, they offered to re-heat it (re-heated fried clams? No thanks), or make it over, but I just didn't have another hour. My nephew would give this restaurant 10 stars because the French fries are so delicious. I had the crab cakes which were yummy but the texture was a little mushy for my liking. On a weekend getaway to Cape Cod, we really wanted to go to Dana's Kitchen but since they were sold out of the soft shell crabs and my children wanted seafood and were very hungry, we headed on over to Crabapple's, just another few minutes away. Service was very friendly, place was clean but the food is just a little above average. Not much was special about it, except for the Bloody Mary. We ordered the haddock and scallops combo $15.99, Crabcakes and the stuffed haddock (with crab meat). Check for four for our lunch came out to $98 without tip. read more

Excellent chowder. Not too heavy with cream, and had a nice peppery finish. Clams and fish & chips were perfectly breaded and fried.

This place is down to earth and so solid. If I was a local, this would be where I would go chill on a Friday night when I don't feel like cooking. It's not a razzle and dazzle place, but has a rather neighborhood joint kind of feel. We ordered the following: Crab cakes -Pretty great and nothing special, but pretty darn cheap at $4.5 each. Lobstah on Caesar Salad- my boyfriend ordered it, but I chowed down half of his salad because it was so delicious. The mayo and dressing was light and to my liking. The lobster sass fresh and plenty. He complained about the croutons being a bit stale, but I don't eat croutons so I don't care. Salmon special -This had rice, grilled shrimp, cooked spinach and salmon. I always complain about too much salt at restaurants, but to my surprise, we were a little short on salt on this one. A few shakes of salt took this dish to another level. The grilled shrimps were so delicious. The salmon was overlooked since I'm used to my salmon medium rare, but my fault for not asking and being used to people asking me how I would like it cooked. Wickedly good fish chowdah -This was really yummy. After paying $8 for a cup of very average clam chowder on MV, this was a welcome change. Overall, the price was really good for the area especially for the type of food we ordered. They also allow things in different sizes so we could try more things. Parking was easy. Service could be a bit faster, but hey, I waited for 45 minutes at Pie in the Sky for a wrap and this is much more worth it. Restaurant was packed even at 8pm so it says a lot! read more

We had dinner for 12 people while on vacation. They were able to sit our large party with no difficulty. The bread was great, and the meals were good too. I had the fried clams and although the bellies were large it was still a good meal. Everyone else had good meals too, and the kids were all happy! My group wanted to split the bill 3 ways but the waiter somehow couldn't so she got her manager who condesended and talked to us like children, simply for wanted to split the bill. She forgot to take my card and then when I pointed it out to her she continued to condesend me further for her own mistake. Plus she started to take it out on her staff, which would explain why they seemed so unhappy to work there.
