On Wed night, July17, at 7pm, my husband and I approached the hostess at the front stand in Crabby's; she seemed scatter-brained and distracted. She said it would be a 30-40 min wait, but we glanced at several empty tables. We said we'd wait, but after a long pause, I asked her if she needed our contact info for the wait list? She then took our ph #. We walked to the bar for a drink to wait for a table. We found a few empty bar stools and waited for one of two bartenders to take our drink order, and we waited and waited and waited. We watched chaos, inefficiency and customers being ignored. Both bartenders repeatedly went out to the dining room for things and back, they also spent time fussing with the POS system. During this time, not a single drink was made. After waiting 16 mins without any acknowledgement, we witnessed two separate parties grumble their frustration of waiting 30 mins without being waited on, then got up to leave. We followed behind them leaving Crabby's, telling a few incoming customers not to bother eating here, slow service. The bartenders never noticed 3 different parties leaving. So, it seems Crabby's is severely under staffed and untrained staff. read more

I ate at Crabby's this week and while the location, atmosphere and staff were just fine I was totally outraged with how expensive the meal cost. My friend and I both ordered grouper, two sides and one side order of garlic bread (water for both). The portions were extremely small and the taste was just average. The total cost of the bill was $72 pre-tip. I eat out in St Aug every single day and have never paid so much for such small portions. I will never be back!! read more

Ambience at beach is great, wide variety of seating options. Our late night server, Joseph, wad the absolute best! He was so good, so knowledgeable about menu, so knowledgeable about restaurant itseld, the building, the area. The food was excellent. I ordered the oysters three way. Highly recommend. My favorite of the three was the New Orleans oysters but your tastes might vary so the three way is a good choice. The food came out after about ten minutes. Pretty fast. The beer was good and cold. The waitress was very nice and she was very nice. The seating was comfortable. It was not too noisy but it wasn't quiet either. Overall good service and good food. read more

Good food. Service needs to improve. Good drinks. Bathroom name is awful. Hostess needs better info for guests. We were told 10 minutes, took 50 minutes. Bathroom called "poop deck". Had dinner with family here. Our server Nykki was simply wonderful. She was the best part of the experience. Our clam chowder came out room temp with no real flavor. I sent mine back immediately and didn't ask for a replacement. For my meal, I got the fried shrimp, cheese grits and creamed corn. The shrimp were great, cheese grits weren't very good and cold as well. Cream corn was good but again, cold. Unsure if I would dine here again. read more

Some of the best seafood in St Augustine! This is my second time here and both times have been amazing. Last night we came back with a big party of 11 people. We did call ahead sitting and it worked out perfectly. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and drinks were great. We got several appetizers (calamari, crab and spinach dip, and crab stuffed mushrooms. They were all delicious and our favorite was the mushrooms! We ordered a lot of different meals too and there was not one bad meal. Everyone highly enjoyed them and lots of sharing going on. One of the favorites of our table was the Hogfish Imperial. Although we left a $10 cash tip on the table, the waitress went on to add an additional $10 to our credit card for a second tip which we did not notice until arriving home. When we called Crabby's to explain what had happened, we were on the phone for a long time with the manager as she requested our credit card details and all that had happened. Additionally she asked us to send an email explaining what had happened & send a photo of our receipt. Even after this phone call and two emails, no response was ever received and no refund given. Watch out for this if you leave cash on the table! Our meal was fine, but nothing amazing, and quite expensive... especially as we were doubly charged for a tip! The service I had was good with the waitress Brooke, but that's about all. I ordered crab dip which was not flavorful. Calamari was ok but too much breading but the jalapeños with it was good. Ordered grouper for dinner that was under cooked inside and overcooked outside. The hostess handed me my own menu to walk myself upstairs. The manager said it was due to a shortage but everyone I saw after me was brought up by a hostess and I was the only person of color I saw so honestly I wondered if that was the reason. I don't see myself ever coming back. I don't care how short staffed I was I would never handed the customer their menu and directed them how to get upstairs. This was so disappointing. My siblings and I along with our spouses went to Crabby's Beachside Sunday evening and were very happy with our food. It was the first time that we had eaten there. The food was very fresh and very filling. Our server Lilly was phenomenal!! She was patient with us and gave some good recommendations. She also dealt with us which can be a handful at times. Sat at the inside bar today and had an awesome afternoon. Our bartender, Carol Ann, was great. Went through the specials menu with us, drink menus and answered all of our questions. We ended up doing a couple of the appetizers which were delicious. The fish dip and the BamBam shrimp. Highly recommend. The service was good. Attentive staff. We were seated outdoors on the upper deck with a view of the ocean. All the fish dishes ordered at our table were generous portions, fresh, and moist. However, the raw oysters were not fresh or cold. Very disappointing in that one can only order by the dozen. read more

Well, I really wanted to like this, but no. went for the combination of music and food. poor Brian was stuck on the front patio, no shade at the outside tables, so he played, sadly, to no one. Service was good. menu very overpriced, $36 for scallops at lunch, $20 for grouper sandwich! server said you could add a salad for 1.99. bill added $4.99, she went to correct it, it was $2.99. Seriously, the manager had to come over and interpret the pricing on the menu, even the server got it wrong. As an island resident of St. Augustine I know the importance of supporting local restaurants. Sadly my wife and I's experience having dinner, at the upstairs bar at Crabby's (on a slow night at the restaurant), was easily the worst dining experience we have had (here or anywhere). The bar staff was rude, inattentive, and the food was terrible. We split the Blackened Grouper Sandwich with fries and I had two lite beers. The sandwich arrived late, cold, and the portion of fish was comically small (and it tasted like a fish sandwich from a fast food chain). Further our server mistakenly billed us for multiple menu items, that another customer ordered and consumed, easily doubling what we should have been billed. That night, and for weeks following we spoke with Crabby's management and the message was always the same. "I will refund you 100% and we look forward to having you come back". Sadly, she never took action, we were never refunded a single penny, and now we've had to dispute the charge with American Express. In short the food is terrible and the staff and management were as their name implies ("Crabby"). Two thumbs down, terrible food and service, and we'll never return. One star = F- read more
