I looooooove it here! My co-workers and I are here as often as we can be. There are a lot of options for breakfast, and the service is always stellar! They have a cute setup, allowing you to dine in if desired. My favorite dish by far is St. Elmo's Fire, it's the perfect blend of spicy, tasty and filling! I also love the fact that I can redeem points, which often times means I'm not paying the full price for my meals! read more

Saw this place on TikTok and figured I'd give it a shot. Wait wasn't long. Food came out hot. While it may be for some it's just not for me. I can totally deal without the sauce as it is a little too sweet for me. The bread is amazing, along with the bacon but the sauce overshadows the sandwich for me. The same goes with the tots as the presentation is amazing but the egg and sauce mixed in don't do it for me. $40 bucks for two sandwiches, tots and drinks which isn't bad, just not for me. read more

Starting out as a food truck, this Shaw location is Cracked Eggery's second location in D.C. Specializing in egg sandwiches, they serve them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After ordering takeout for a group of friends on a Friday in June, here's our experience: 1) Food: They have 14 different sandwiches most with fried egg on top, six bowls, 10 different tater tots, four items on the kids menu, a few sides and salads, drinks and Compass Coffee (they have a location next door so it makes sense). Each sandwich is really good, but if you like a sweet-savory combo, order the Southern Charm with a fried egg, pimento cheese, bacon, fried green tomatoes, arugula, and lemon aioli. My five-year-old daughter enjoyed the kid's egg and cheese, which comes with a small fruit cup and a hash brown. 2) Space: It's in a development full of restaurants and shops. With large windows, lots of natural light pours in, hitting the tables. Neon signs decorate the space, including one that reads "Shaw," honoring the neighborhood. 3) Service: It's friendly and you can tell the staff are proud of what they are making. 4) Ordering: For some reason, their online system didn't let us order ahead so we ordered when we were 15 minutes out. My partner and I popped in here on a random whim for a quick brunch, and it turned out to be a great choice. The woman at the cashier was so friendly and welcoming as soon as we (and everyone else) walked in the door, and she was super patient as we read through the menu trying to make a decision. We decided on the Mayor and the Inigo Montoya, as well as garlic Parmesan truffle tots. The Mayor was like the quintessential American breakfast flavor profile, while the arugula in the Inigo Montoya made for a good "healthy" balance LOL. I really liked both, but honestly the Mayor might have been too much for me if I ate a whole one for myself. I wish the bun was just a little bit softer and fluffier, but otherwise no complaints. The tots were crispy and delicious too, with no flavor overpowering the others. We got lucky with parking but it's definitely not the easiest to find in this neighborhood. But after a good first experience (and my fav compass coffee next door), I'll definitely be back to try more sandwiches! read more

Omgggg!! No really, OMGGGGGG!! Who ever thought that a breakfast sandwich could taste soooo amazing!! The Cracked Eggery has really stepped up the breakfast game and has completely redefined breakfast sandwiches! I was placed my order through Grubhub. Iselected the Southern Charm sandwich and the honey butter tots! The sandwich was so huge, I couldn't even finish it all. Not your normal bacon, egg and cheese, the Southern Charm comprised of a fat bun, topped with bacon, egg, arugula, pimento cheese and a lemon aioli! The flavors were indescribably amazing! Definitely not like any another breakfast sandwich that I've had before! The tater tots were also very good! I really wish I could have grabbed another sandwich to take back to Baltimore. I definitely wouldn't have survived the drive. I guess that means another trip to DC in the very near future!! read more

I first tried Cracked Eggery as a food truck so I was proud to see them have their own brick & mortar location. Not one, but two brick & mortar locations! This one in Shaw is sleek and fresh looking embellished with their signature neon signs. The food they make always hits the spot. I'd recommend "The Animal" decked out with eggs, bacon, hash brown, sausage, and crack sauce - you'll feel like an animal as you take your first bite and aggressively continue to scarf it down! Cracked Eggery has been on my list for a long time and I was thrilled when I saw they were coming into the neighborhood. I stopped by on a Saturday morning before 10am and the staff was bustling in the kitchen, there were three people sitting and eating and a handful coming in to pick up orders placed ahead of time. I went with The Animal and while I had a little bit of sticker shock ($14!) it did not disappoint. It's a huge breakfast sandwich loaded up with quality ingredients (bacon, sausage, egg, hashbrowns, cracked sauce) and somehow stacked so that every item didn't come flying out as I ate it. It will be fun to try some of the other sandwich options on the weekend over the coming months. read more

Got takeout for lunch today. Blew away expectations. Seriously big portion for the all meats, cheese, and hash browns. Their own sauce has just the right amount of heat. Bread is thicc and they put just a little something to make sure it doesn't get too dry. And to top it all off it doesn't fall apart at all like a lot of over the top sandwiches. read more

This was my first time eating here & I can honestly say that the service was great! I was undecided on getting either a sandwich or a burrito. The cashier instantly recommended me to get a burrito and asked which one I was looking at. I told her I was looking to get the Lance Burkhart burrito and she said that was a great choice and recommended to put avocado in it, which was greatful to add on because it was amazing!!! Let's not forget the burrito dipping sauce they put on the side, which made it so much more flavorful! I can say it was 10/10 & I would come back to Cracked Eggery if I am back in the area, because I'm from Philadelphia! GO BIRDS!!! read more

This is one of the few places in DC that's opened for breakfast at 7 am and it's super tasty! I had the Southern charm that was $12 before tax and tip. It had fried green tomatoes, egg, bacon, pimento cheese, arugula and aioli and while it was delicious I wouldn't recommend it for breakfast. The tater tots are fried fresh making them super crispy and tasty. The staff is nice but for $14 I don't think this could or should be anyone's regular routine. read more

So I absolutely love this spot. Located in the chic Shaw district of DC lies this breakfast Haven cracked eggery. This particular visit I tried the Bubby. I have to be honest here...not really a fan of smoked salmon. But it wasn't bad. I also got an order of honey butter tots, which I enjoyed, but I'll stick with the Parmesan truffle tots from here on out. Of course I paid the $.50 extra to get a side of their signature cracked sauce. The only thing I wish they had is some sort of non pork sausage option (maybe a Turkey or chicken) since I'm steering clear of pork this year (hopefully. Lol)! But I can't wait until my next visit to try another option. read more

Great hearty breakfast egg sandwiches for DC-inflated price. A group of us checked out Cracked Eggery when it opened. At first, we were a little thrown off by the price- over $8 for a breakfast sandwich seemed a little pricey. However, the sandwiches were quality, the kind you would get at a brunch restaurant. Also, all the staff there were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back if I had the chance, but probably won't go there just to go get the sandwich. read more

I so loved this place! The atmosphere, the staff, the service, and the food was great! I had a tough time choosing between The Bubby and Willie's hash. I ended up with the Bubby and it was everything I expected. It was savory, salty, full of flavor, and so much better than lox on a bagel. The toasted challah was a very nice addition. I also got to try the french toast sticks and they were good, hot, and fresh as well. The woman at the register was very informative about the food. The only disappointment was that they were out of tots. She told us that a delivery was on its way but didn't know when it would arrive. Not such a big deal to me but my companion was counting on those tots due to being vegetarian. I would love to come back! read more

This place is good for what it is - a quick breakfast stop where you can get egg sandwiches and/or bowls. My personal favorite sandwiches are the Inigo Montoya and The Animal. I love the variety of sandwich options that they have to fulfill almost any craving. The portions are perfect to fill you up in the morning and they also offer a variety of tater tots styles/flavors as a side - garlic truffle ftw, always! I'm pretty comfortable giving this restaurant at this location a 5*. I've visited multiple times and the food taste, quality and customer service have been consistent and great. There is consistency at both this location and the one on Connecticut Avenue. Speed of service is always quick. Lately I've noticed there has been plenty cooks on the line in the kitchen preparing the food. The crack sauce is special. If you've never tried it, purchase a sandwich that has it. My friends and I were in DC for a long weekend and needed to grab breakfast. Saw this place was close by and it had good reviews. The atmosphere was clean and inviting but seating options are limited if you want to dine in. It's more of a grab and go place though. There were only a few customers when I arrived but the place quickly became very crowded, especially with to-go orders. Service was quick and the food was very good. I had the Abe froman which had scrambled egg, sausage, cheese and their special sauce. Bun was toasted nicely and it was a good portion size. Cracked Eggery is right around the corner from me but I finally got to stop in and try last weekend! The store was jam packed even early in a Saturday morning. I ordered the Seoul Mate bowl - it was to die for and gigantic I saved it and ate us for breakfast Sunday too! I was surprised when I received my warm sandwich, which looked promising. My tots were crispy but not hot. I order a breakfast sandwich kid's meal which comes with a cup of fruit. Unfortunately, one of the blueberries was moldy, so the whole cup was inedible. I know fresh fruit is highly perishable, but there's really no excuse. I'm giving 2 stars because the sandwich itself was quite good. a breakfast sandwich that isn't a bagel makes me feel sacreligious but sometimes we do hard things - all these sandwiches are on thick glistening challah which was super tasty and added a slight sweetness! however there was so much bread that my more mild flavored sandwich was slightly overpowered - here we got the bubbie, lox, a lil cream cheese, a fried egg, and a caper tapenade (once the bread was picked down to normal quantities) added the best kick!! loved that. everything bagel seasoning too was nice for texture change from pure ~slime~ - the animal had scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, and sausage....I think it quite earned the title of animal. this was very much destroyed and appreciated by my company. - overall decent breakfast sandwiches, nothing like crazy but I'm not mad. an abundance of packaging for like tiny sandwiches (they should make the bags something you take if you personally want). read more

It was delicious and extremely filling. I savored each and every bite. The only thing I would have preferred would have been more coffee offerings. The food here is truly king and I can work with that!

The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive.
