    Sausage egg and cheese

Tried Cracked Eggery for a breakfast bite, and let's just say--I left more full of bread than satisfaction. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese with their signature Cracked Sauce. What I got was a breakfast sandwich in disguise--basically stacked on a thick hamburger bun that overwhelmed everything else. The sausage patty? Paper-thin. The egg? Present but lost. That Cracked Sauce? Definitely an acquired taste--and sadly, I didn't acquire it. I also grabbed some tater tots (solid), a fried egg (fine), and bacon--which caught me off guard with how sweet it was. Not the savory crisp I was hoping for. Maple fans might be into it, but it wasn't my jam. To be fair, I think this is one of those "try it and see if it's your vibe" places. So far, it's not mine--but I'll give them one more chance. If the next bite doesn't hit, I'll chalk it up to a flavor profile that just isn't for me.

Something new. It was my very first time going to cracked eggery. I purchased the garlic pram tater tots. Also, the animal breakfast sandwich. Everything was fresh made to order. The breakfast sandwich was kind of disappointing. Because it was kind of dry, I wasn't expecting that i through a sauce came on the sandwich. It wasn't bad don't get me wrong everything was fresh the bun was soft the bacon was crispy the way i like it. The totes was ok I'll definitely go back to try something different. They also had on a menu burritos and breakfast bowls. I walked in the restaurant was very clean very spacious It was plenty of seating. The lady took my order as soon as I walked in the restaurant. She was very nice, professional I didn't have to wait very long for my food.

Burrito was yummy but definitely a touch overpriced. I'm a Texas girl so have definitely had better but a good option in the area. Service was fast and super close to Howard!

Cracked Eggery in DC's Shaw neighborhood totally delivered on every level. I went in with high expectations and left completely satisfied--and very full. I ordered The Stoney, which was a flavor bomb of scrambled eggs, cheddar, thick-cut chorizo, caramelized onions, and chipotle aioli on a soft brioche bun. Every bite was rich, smoky, and perfectly balanced. I also tried the Jeff Spicoli, which was a lighter and fresher option. Both burritos were clearly crafted with care and packed with flavor. But the real surprise hit? The garlic parm truffle tater tots. These things were next-level--crispy, golden, and absolutely drenched in garlicky, cheesy, truffle goodness. I couldn't stop eating them even after I was full. The vibe inside was casual and upbeat, and the staff was friendly and fast despite the steady crowd. Would recommend to order ahead as we waited 20+ minutes - but worth the wait!

phenomenal breakfast burrito called the Johnny Utah Burrito with Skirt Steak, Scrambled Egg, Pico de Gallo, Shredded Cheddar, Tots, Lime Crema Served with House-Made Queso & Tomatillo Salsa --- still piping hot by the time I brought this home to my apartment and satisfied all of my morning cravings

Great choice for a quick, casual breakfast with a slight twist on the classic egg sandwich! Cracked Eggery's menu boasts more than ten egg sandwiches served on the softest, richest challah bread and with a variety of toppings ranging from fried green tomatoes and bacon to smoked salmon and cream cheese. If you're not in the mood for bread, they also have phenomenal bowls. I usually opt for their Bittersweet Symphony, which, as the name implies, balances out a slightly bitter bite from the arugula with hot honey and peach jam. They round out the dish with a generous helping of roasted butternut squash, quinoa, and creamy ricotta, as well as, of course, a perfectly fried egg. If I want a bit more greenery in my breakfast, I also love their Everyday I'm Brusselin', which includes roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato, quinoa, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette (think Sweetgreen Harvest Bowl but for breakfast). However, regardless of which sandwich or bowl you order, you have to get their tots -- they're smashed to maximize the surface area for a nice, crispy shell, and they pair beautifully with any seasoning you choose to pair them with. They have a few tables where you can enjoy your tots and sandwich / bowl, as well as a long row of barstools along the window. The service is speedy and friendly, and it's the perfect spot for either a quick dine-in breakfast or to-go meal.

Solid breakfast spot that's filling and relatively affordable. I got the Abe Forman and the old bay tater tots. Both were delicious. I added a little bit of hot sauce at home to my sandwich and it was perfect. Ordered through door dash so can't speak for the inside but they got my order right and the food was still warm went it arrived at my house.

We were in town to handle so business and our flight landed early so we chose this spot for breakfast. Wanted a place close to our destination and this was a good option. When we walked in, we were a bit confused at first as Noone acknowledged us and we thought we'd have to order in a screen. Finally someone came to take our order and we each got a sandwich, no drinks. While there is some seating, it's not extensive and seems to be laid out more for quick eating and moving on which I don't have a problem with. What I had an issue with is that none of the tables had been wiped down so we had to clean off our tables ourselves. My son and I got the Major sandwich and my other son got something different. Sandwich was good and very hot and filling. The bacon on the sandwich was thick and well cooked with a hint of sweetness which rounded out the flavors nicely. My bottom bun was falling apart which made it hard to hold the sandwich. It's a busy spot with loads of delivery people constantly in and out picking up delivery orders. Great location for a quick bite on the way to work or if you live close by.

    Green Eggs No Ham

Cracked Eggery is good but could be a bit more flavorful. I've been a few times. On my recent visit, I got the Green Eggs No Ham, which has scrambled eggs, tomatillo salsa, chives, and goat cheese. The sandwich looked great, with a golden bun and fillings peeking out the sides. There wasn't too much salsa inside, though, as some spilled out into the container. It tasted good, but needed a bit more flavor -- maybe more salt, or more salsa, or one extra ingredient. I had the same opinion on previous visits and with other sandwiches -- they look great, taste good, but just lack a little something. The Shaw location is pretty barebones, with a handful of seats. It's just counter service so nothing special.

Amazing food!!!! Ordered the basic, the animal, cuagamonca bowl and garlic parm tots... absolutely amazing! Great portions. The coffee was not good. Ended up driving to a different coffee shop instead. Please reconsider your coffee selection. It's the only thing stopping me from calling this my favorite breakfast spot. Service and ambiance were great.

My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! They were seriously understaffed, and with a line out the door, the place was BUSY. That said, the staff was doing their best to keep up with the constant flow of customers. I was able to grab a table, and interestingly enough, ordering through DoorDash was much faster than ordering directly through the cashier. I ordered the Barbie Girl burger, which was pretty good overall, although it arrived a little soggy. The onion rings were definitely overcooked and greasy, but they still had decent flavor. Since I arrived around happy hour, I grabbed a glass of wine and enjoyed my lunch. Considering how slammed they were, the servers actually did a decent job. They were running around like crazy but remained friendly and attentive when they could. I definitely want to give Ghostburger another try when they're properly staffed and it's not quite as chaotic. From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!

Hungry, tired, slightly delirious. We just needed somewhere close to sit, eat, and recover like normal humans again. Literally crossed the street and landed at Duke's Counter... and wow, what a save. First off, the vibe hits immediately. It's got that lively, slightly chaotic energy (in a good way), like everyone there just escaped the zoo too and is ready to refuel. We grabbed a table outside for people-watching, and honestly, that alone was part of the experience. Food?? Let me just say this: if you're even thinking about getting the burger... stop thinking and just do it. I got the Proper Burger and it was one of those meals where you go quiet after the first bite because your brain is trying to process what just happened. Juicy, messy, flavorful in every bite--no notes. You can tell they take that "best burger in DC" claim very seriously. We also ordered the elote to start, which was exactly what we needed after sweating all day--salty, creamy, a little tangy, just hitting all the right spots. One of my friends got a sandwich (I think it was the Cubano situation) and it was HUGE. Like, borderline "should we have shared this?" huge. Only minor thing--the fries were fine. Not bad, just not on the same level as everything else. But honestly, when the burger is that good, I'm not losing sleep over fries. Service was friendly, even with how packed it got. You can tell they deal with zoo crowds all the time, so they keep things moving without making you feel rushed. Random side note: after we got back and were still in "treat yourself" mode, we ended up ordering from Pressure Deliveries--clutch move to keep the chill vibes going after a long day out. Highly recommend pairing the two experiences if you're making a full day of it. Overall, this place felt like exactly what we needed without even planning it. Great food, fun energy, perfect location if you're doing the zoo or just exploring the city. Would I come back? 100%. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries.
