This is my first time visiting a Cracker Barrel location. I've heard mixed reviews about it from the start but a friend mentioned it so we have it a try. You're in a store when you first enter with vibes of a country store. The server was in the corner and was able to get a table for all 6 of us to sit which worked out. I had a really simple meal of egg whites, toast, and fruits, with a half and half to drink. I have no complaints about my meal and the waiter was very helpful towards our group. We ordered Cracker Barrel Old Country Store through GrubHub for lunch. The online GrubHub was very easy to complete the order. The three lunches were delivered as ordered with the correct sides, utensils, condiments, and napkins. The chicken and dumplings with green beans and fried apples were delicious. The fried chicken macaroni and cheese with fried okra were perfectly cooked. The second order of chicken and dumplings with Cole slaw and fried apples were great too. Cracker Barrel will always have a special place in my heart as it is where my husband and I had our very first date. Every year at the beginning of December, we have made a tradition by grabbing breakfast at a Cracker Barrel. (Titusville is where our first date was). As our family has grown, our little ones now tag along too, which makes it even more special. It's hard not to notice how much the menu has changed over the last few years. It feels like it's been cut in half. The atmosphere is still as cozy and charming as ever, and the food is still good, but the pricing has definitely gone up. This most recent visit came to $41 for two adult meals, a kids' meal, and a coffee and that is not including the tip. Tucked away on Douglas in Altamonte Springs this Cracker Barrel location is perfect for a quick home style breakfast. My husband and I stopped in between getting off of work and a dentist appointment for breakfast, we were greeted right away and seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was pleasant and friendly she took our beverage order and brought water without being asked, she didn't rush us to order but she was attentive without being obtrusive. I had the bacon and egg hashbrown casserole minus the diced tomato and green onions, my husband had the Uncle Hershel's breakfast, we also started with the biscuit beignets ( so yummy!). Both of our meals arrived hot and fresh and just as we ordered. We did notice that portion size is quite a bit smaller than in the past but this seems to be the norm most places and if we are being honest with ourselves it is closer to the amount we should be eating! Everything tasted wonderful, I love the crispy onions on top of the casserole and the biscuits and gravy are always delicious. The restroom was clean as was the dining room and merchandise area. I can never give Cracker Barrel a 5 until they bring back red eye gravy! And...this morning was good but not 5 good. The over medium eggs were good as always (9.2 out of 10). The biscuits seemed as if they had been sitting awhile which made them dry and dense (7.8). The country ham could have been saltier and perhaps a little thicker (8.3). The hash-brown casserole is always amazing (9.5). The sawmill gravy is mid and, to me, and seems to have an artificial aftertaste (7.0). The coffee was delicious (9.5). I really love Cracker Barrel. We came to try the new campfire menu for the summer but it doesn't start until Tuesday but since we are a part of the Cracker Barrel club we got an email to try the new s'mores dessert for free! It was delicious! Our waiter, Donovan, did me a solid and was able to order the maple bacon grilled chicken even though they have taken it off the menu. The hashbrown casserole was good but they have either changed the recipe or didn't add enough cheese because it was a bit dry and different. Still very good however. This location of Cracker Barrel has not updated their look to the new modern features so I it's the vintage place you know and love here. What happened?!?! Cracker Barrel has never been outstanding but it was usually decent. The quality of the food, especially the meat, is terrible! It's so clear they are trying to save money but the quality of the food is now so low that it's not worth saving the money. It's no longer a cheap decent breakfast. Both my partner and I felt ill as we approached the car to leave. It's now the next day and we both still feel pretty lousy. We will never eat at Cracker Barrel again. It's such a bummer!!! No crowd at 9am on a Saturday. Our server, Chloe, was amazing. She was attentive, friendly and made great suggestions. The food on this visit took me back to when Cracker Barrel was new on the scene. This is how the food used to taste and be served, piping hot and fresh! I've been disappointed with most CB experiences because it seems like everything is just microwaved and put on a plate. Cracker Barrel has always been a great place to take the family since it has so much seating and plenty to peruse in their shops as you wait for a table. However, their food has been less than subpar on my last few visits. I always order one of their samplers and the meat, specifically the ham and sausage, have been so dry. I think they are pretty consistent with their hash brown casserole and pancakes but the rest is mediocre. Everyone is raising prices and they've certainly made no exceptions. For that, I expect better. I'll still come when we take large groups with the family but I think there are certainly better options for the same price. read more

For anyone who has traveled the US Interstate highway system, Cracker Barrel might seem ubiquitous, and, arguably the queen of interstate southern comfort food. That said, my challenge in a birthday dinner out with my wife's and my daughter and her friend was to find something outside of the known food group offered by this chain. After a couple minutes of scouring the menu, my eyes landed on a dish I was delightfully surprised to find - the lemon peppered grilled rainbow trout ! For the 2 sides, I chose the steamed broccoli and the...fried okra. Yes, I know one of these things is not like the other. My trout arrived and the first bite melted in the mouth with the seasoning and the butter complimenting the flaky fish. Yes, I was surprised again. The steamed broccoli wasn't overly mushy and I shared the lightly fried and seasoned okra. The teens loved the Mac n Cheese and the chicken tenders. Our server was solid despite the large number of tables he was serving. The store was filled with fun and nostalgic items. I even found a vinyl of the newly released Beatles White Album. Kudos to the interstate chain for offering up a decent alternative entree for those of us who cannot always enjoy the southern comfort food but want to enjoy the company of those who do. read more

I have been here many times, but just never super impressed. I visited the other day and ordered the old timers meal which is two eggs, protein, toast and a side. I opted for sunny side up eggs, sausage and the hash brown casserole. I don't know, it was just super unappealing. All I know is when I'm craving some quality homemade food and don't really feel like cooking, this is one of our favorite places to visit. Sometimes just before a movie at AMC Theatres down the road. My favorite meal right now is the classics sampler and comes with two sides. But the biscuits n' gravy with your choice of sausage or bacon is also another favorite. The meals are always fresh, warm and the portions are always worth what you pay. The staff is most often friendly and there's additional parking in the back for those busy nights and weekends. I ordered two regular pancakes and when I received it was like warm. And then on top of that they tasted like dough. They were also raw tasting. Which then I sent it back. My boyfriend called before driving over here to ask if they specifically had the Southern Country Fried chicken and the girl Brandy said that they did. He actually reconfirmed with her again and she said yes we have it. We literally got here within 10 minutes and was told by our waitress Gail it was gone. We were highly disappointed because thats the reason why we went to Cracker Barrel. We were tempted to walk out but since we had an additional guest with us we stayed and tried something else on the menu. I usually love Cracker Barrel peach tea but the tea I was given was absolutely horrible.
