On our trip across the country from SLC to NC late last month, we stopped off at one of our favorite chains to grab dinner before making the rest of our way to Eureka Springs, AR that evening. We felt that CB is and always has been a safe bet, and at least for me, it was. My wife...not so lucky. My wife ordered the roast beef dinner, and well...it was the bottom of the so-called beef barrel. All the scraps and a lot of gristle...and not very appetizing at all. Bleh. I had "Uncle Herschel's Favorite" breakfast, and mine was fine. So hit-and-miss. Probably should have brought it up to the waitress, but we didn't. Shame on us. Stopped in for breakfast with a coworker, Staff was quick to stop by the table and get our drink orders. I ordered the Old Timer's Breakfast. My coworker had some questions with the menu, which the waitress was good with answering questions and giving suggestions based on what he was looking for. Food came out quickly. It was a good amount of food for the price and had good flavors. This location still has the country store that you would expect at a Cracker Barrel. read more

Wow. I love Cracker Barrel in most locations, but this one missed the mark. We waited over an hour for our food (only 4 for of us) and when the food did arrive, half of it was cold and inedible (similar to other reviews left here). I should also mention that we were 1 of 10 tables in the store so this just felt like a unnecessarily long wait time. They tried to tell us it was because of to go orders ... which literally makes no sense. Besides the food, the worst part was the way the manager handled the situation. She was rude and asked me what I wanted from her ... well shouldn't you be offering to take the meal off or offer to re-cook ... literally none of that. I have been in food service so I was very disappointed with the lack of action. I will not be back and I hope someone monitors these reviews to meet with their management team on their accommodations and overall demeanor when meeting with customers. read more

They microwave your food and serve it cold! They said they were going to make it fresh and brought it back out after 5 minutes and the loaded mashed potatoes were cold as well as the gravy over the pork chops and the fried okra wasn't any better pretty sure it wasn't fried but microwaved read more

Note to management: we can tell when you use the microwave to heat something up. It made the French toast bake inedible. Over all the quality of the food and cooking here is not good. read more

Just met my son for breakfast at this cracker barrel, first we waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our order, after we finally ordered we waited 45 minutes for our order, when the food finally arrived the eggs were cold, the biscuits were so hard and cold, you could have built a fence with them the bacon (now I like crisp) this was so hard and cold it didn't even taste like bacon anymore, I have to say the grits weren't to bad they at least were warm, bad part was I ordered pancakes didn't even get those, I'm not sure what my son ordered he ate part of it and that was enough I know they were busy but there is no excuse for bad food, bad service, this was my second time for bad food there so there will not be a third. read more

Last January I went to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Belton, MO with folks who move slowly with a cane or walker. We passed many empty tables. After the third or so, I asked if we could sit there, as the host had made a beeline to the table he wanted to seat us at, he had to walk 90% of the way back to tell me he could not seat us at any of those tables. I ask to speak to the manager. After we are seated and have ordered, the manager came and wanted us to get up and move to the closest table to the door. I told him that the problem was not the table, it was the walking and now that we were seated, we would stay until after the meal. When I got home, I went to the feedback section of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store's website and described our experience. I received a prompt email replay on January 9th stating I would hear back within five days. They gave me a ticket number so I could easily look up an update. The email did not tell me how to get said update. I have tried their chatbot several times, sent numerous emails. And no resolution. I have no way of contacting Cracker Barrel outside of the evil chatbot. Every time I have engaged chatbot and explained everything from the start AGAIN..., I am assured that the issue has been forwarded to the proper department. One even told me it was resolved, but could not tell me what the resolution is. Then last week, I commented on a post on Cracker Barrel's facebook page, complete with the picture of many empty tables between my seat and the door (below). That finally got some traction. Although, that seems to have stalled. So, I try here. the lack of response is actually become more of an issue than the original incident. The chatbot last told me that the issue is being addressed and I will get an email soon. But I've heard that line for the last four months. read more

Filthy and dangerous. We arrived and a host promptly and courteously greeted us. We had an 87 year old relative with a cane and mobility issues with us. The host quickly said he would be seating us as close to the door as possible since the floor was "slippery" as we proceeded past the host station we observed caution signs on the floor to enter the dining area. The floor was not slippery, it was in fact covered in grease and slick like an ice rink. We had to shuffle while sliding to our table. We were wearing well made sneakers and still pretty much slid and fell into our seats. Our server was quick to arrive and take out order. Food came out and our only was the gravy was not up to the normal Cracker barrel par. When we got up we practically had to carry our elder family member because we were afraid of her falling. The manager was informed and acted like it was no big deal. Even saying that "someone would be coming to clean it on April 15" that is ridiculous it is dangerous on April 4! Her attitude was completeness and this location is a safety risk. Hopefully no one is seriously injured while the incompetent staff doesn't take care of it. A manager is a leader and her attitude was awful and the other employees were mere teenagers following her lead. Nice merch store. Food and beverages were reasonably hot and good. They did fail to bring out part of my breakfast order, had to ask again. At Cracker Barrel it's best to stick to the basics like breakfast or their daily specials for best execution and quality. The flush toilets lack flush power, they need to replace them. read more

I love homestyle cooking and Cracker Barrel gets it right every time! The atmosphere of this restaurant is so unique between the wall decorations, the country store, and the table set up it brings the atmosphere to life. As a kid I loved coming here and as an adult I still feel the same way. Today we went for breakfast and our food was perfectly cooked. Our service was okay, but we had empty drinks for a long time before they got refilled. Our waitress was extremely nice and at the end made sure we were well taken care of. I'm not usually one to leave reviews but this whole experience just ruined my views of Cracker Barrel. The best thing about the whole meal was my onion petals and macaroni because at least they weren't cold! Dumplings were not warm at all by the time I got them. The rolls were brought out after I asked about them once our food came and we hadn't gotten those yet. Rolls were also not warm. It was a long wait between getting seated and our drinks and the food arriving. We ordered pretty quickly after getting drinks. Our waiter was nice but he seemed new and still learning. The kitchen must have been having issues or something. Maybe they were short staffed and it was just an off night. The place wasn't too busy but I didn't even want anything from the gift shop after all that. This is the second visit here when passing through and I really wanted Cracker Barrel but now wish we had went elsewhere. read more

Food was so good, the wood-burning fireplace was so comforting on a freezing cold night, and our sever was excellent. I love Cracker Barrel. Unfortunately, there are none near me. When traveling, we don't like chains but this is an exception. Food is always delicious and filling while service is exceptional. Plus we like the decorations which are different everywhere that take in local ambiance. I've never had a problem of any kind at any Cracker Barrel and this one was no different. After this last visit I remembered why I don't go to this CB. Here's why you shouldn't either. The waitress was unfriendly or more like just plain cold. No smiles, short sentences, no responses to us, and we had to ask for everything twice (napkins, then ketchup, then the bill). The food was TERRIBLE!!! As in the sampler dinner I order was still sitting there when we left. The chicken and dumplings were stone cold. It had a single pink chicken tender shoved in the middle of a concrete pile of mush. The ham steak was so over salted that it tasted like drinking straight bacon grease, but chewed like leather, yum...Zero moisture left in them. The meatloaf was also stone cold and had congealed and dried on the outside like it was 3 days old. It tasted like canned meat...seriously, close your eyes and you'd think it was potted meat. It came with 3 sides and the hash brown casserole, though cold, was at least editable. So there's that, I guess. I won't make this any longer but my two kid's meals were no better than mine. The wife got a cold, yet decent bourbon chicken but her sides were inedibly cold and mushy. Even the biscuits had so much raw flower dusted on them that they were inedible too. I eventually had to grab the passing hostess! to ask for a manager just to get the check. When I told the manager about our food, and even pointed out the full plates, she just stared at me blankly and finally muttered "oh, sorry". No offer to make it right whatsoever. I'm a bit of an old soul, so I love the down home southern home style cooking served at Cracker Barrel. I'm also a sucker for breakfast - it's my favorite meal. There's a very large selection at a reasonable price. The bacon is thick and crispy and the eggs perfectly over easy. I love the slightly sweet treat of the cooked apples to round out the meal. The hubs had pancakes and the edges were perfectly crispy which I love. (So many places don't have crispy edges on their pancakes). I do wish they would put the games back out on the tables and have the checker table setup again. I always love to play while waiting for our food. Hopefully soon! read more

My opening day lunch experience was very good. The Monday lunch special (baked chicken, dressing, side, and biscuits for $5.99) was a good value. It was served just 11 minutes after I ordered, and was delicious, with a nicely sized piece of moist chicken covered with tasty gravy, a scrumptious, moist dressing, nicely seasoned steamed broccoli, and good corn muffins. The service was attentive, and the the dining area was nicely done and new, but the open layout caused the sound of muffled conversations to drown out the background music. Good food. We go regularly and have good experiences 9 out of 10 times. We live the roast beef, meatloaf, fish, chicken and dumplings, biscuit, the chocolate cake with ice cream and almost everything else we have tried.. Our most recent visit was not satisfactory, but because we have had so many good visits I'm not going to take more than one star away. For that visit we had a young male waiter who needed to be relocated to dishwashing. He didn't come by to check on us, didn't bring our biscuits until our meal was over and only after I asked three times, had to send him back after EVERY item from butter to jelly to catsup to syrup. Had to get others to bring us the beverages we ordered. He left half our side dishes in the back. Plus he got my order wrong AND some of my food was refrigerator cold. read more

I had tried to call for information prior to our arrival but the phone rang and rang. We kept getting dropped down the guest list. After our estimated wait time came and passed, we were told there were still 5 parties ahead of us. After SIX parties were call, and we asked for an update, we were told there were still 3 ahead of us.
