We had a wonderful breakfast at The Big Biscuit in Olathe, Kansas! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, and even though the restaurant was busy, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was especially kind and patient with our two grandsons, who can be pretty picky eaters. My oldest grandson ordered pancakes with bacon, but he doesn't like his bacon crispy. Our waiter went out of his way to bring him a new order of bacon that was cooked just the way he liked it. That extra effort meant a lot to us. We really appreciated the excellent customer service and the welcoming environment. We had a great time visiting our oldest son and spending time with him and our two grandsons in Gardner, Kansas. Breakfast at The Big Biscuit was a memorable part of our visit. We would definitely recommend it! read more

Horrendous Experience - Xenophobic ManagementWe visited this location (135th and Antioch) with our family who traveled from different states to be together. Because the indoor dining area was too cold for my daughter, we politely requested to sit outside.Instead of accommodating a simple customer request, the manager, Brian, looked at us and stated: "Here in the United States, we like the AC." This was a disgusting, unacceptable insinuation that our family is not from here, (we live in Overland Park) which shouldn't matter simply because we were proudly wearing Ecuador sports jerseys. We are Americans. Shortly after we had passive aggressive employees who all need to be re educated on service to people or simply maybe shouldn't be in the service industry. I am a professional woman, a nurse of over 18 years and to treat others this way is not ok especially our kids witnessing their behavior. To be profiled, alienated, and spoken to with such blatant disrespect by a restaurant manager is intolerable. This behavior does not belong in our community. We will never step foot in another Big Biscuit, and corporate office needs to investigate Brian immediately. And this has been escalated to corporate. We live in a time where this is no longer acceptable. Big Biscuit needs to do better with remediation measures to train their staff to communicate better with customers. The only positive was our waitress Ava who was so friendly and very distraught with the encounter we had. She was 10/10 Brian you were a 0 and needs to be removed from managing. read more

This place is really not all what my buddies said it would be. I got the western omlette with hashbrowns, biscuit and a side of gravy. The omlette just looked like a square egg with the ingredients in it. It was overcooked and brown burnt spots on it. The hashbrowns were stale and had a rank taste to them. Both were very small portions. The biscuits was good but you could tell that the gravy came out of a can and was nasty too. It took me and two buddies 1/2 hour to get our food after we ordered them. Our family has eaten at this Big Biscuit since it opened. The times when we choose to eat out for bfast, we will pick this Big Biscuit more often than not. We risked Covid to eat here a few times, which is the first restaurant we tried during the scary times. We have been absolutely loyal. So it is with huge regret that I update my review to say we are likely to avoid this restaurant in the future. I've the past few months, we have noticed a decline in the service and quality of food. We have seen this before, when managers are changing, but today's experience was a bit beyond... We were ushered to our table after a short wait. And then waited for someone to notice us for quite a while. After putting in our drink order, we waited again for someone to come back and get a food order. (Plus not having any silverware to stir my coffee...). Each of us ordered items we have ordered many times in the past. But the look and delivery was off for every item. Hash browns turned into breakfast potatoes, salsa and toast were missing, the cheese on an omelette was dumped in excess on one side, and the other side had none of the omelette internals... the full order of biscuits and gravy only had 3 of the 4 halves... it was weird. However, we didn't complain, because we heard the waitress taking harsh criticisms from The tables on either side of ours. It couldn't have been "all her fault" because she didn't cook the meal. We felt bad, and left her a decent tip. But the meal was maybe 3 of 5 stars. Then leaving, we drove around the back and saw someone taking trash out from the kitchen, and he appeared to throw up in the parking lot. So yeah. Our car was ablaze with comments and incredulity. He spit up, wiped his mouth in his sleeve, and kept on to the task of tossing his bag of trash. Did we actually see that? 3 of us, including me, clearly saw something we didn't want to see after a sub-par bfast. So... disappointment doesn't quite cover my feelings. But I just need some space, Big Biscuit. Maybe we can go to some therapy together and reconnect someday, but for now, let's just agree we are going to see other restaurants for a while. Then when we were ordering she was talking to her co worker half the time acting very uninterested and making us repeat our order multiple times. Food was terrible. No, they weren't busy either. Mother's Day Breakfast was a fiasco. 2 guests ordered biscuits & gravy. Wait time was 1.5 hrs. Restaurant was freezing cold, even men complained about the cold temperature. Wait staff was continuing to offer free beverages to makeup for the extensive wait. Customers were irate about the long wait time. A good Manager would have had extra cooks & bus's ers to clean dirty tables to move customers through. Also Manager was never seen in dining room monitoring the lack of service, dirty tables & extremely slow service. The food was delicious and my son said it was the best bacon he's ever had! The portion sizes were huge. Lots of variety on the menu. The establishment was clean and decorated nice. My only complaint was the wait. We called ahead and still had to wait for 30 minutes. When we were finally seated getting our drinks, and then our ordering our food also seemed like it took forever. Luckily, after we ordered they got the food out quickly. Most breakfast places you'll spend an hour or hour and a half tops and we were there for over two hours because of the long wait. read more

Customer service here is HORRENDOUS!! I got take out from there about 3 weeks ago. Asked for a fruit substitution for my omelette order instead of what usually comes with it. They didn't inform me that I'd be charged for it, but that's fine, I don't mind even if they did charge for it; however, they should at least give me a heads up about it so that I wouldn't think why one omelette = $18.52. When I took the food home, not only did I find out from the receipt that they had indeed charge me, but THERE WERE NO FRUIT in the bag (and come to find out just now from the receipt that I found, a delivery fee was tacked on as well)! I quickly called them to let them know and I was put on the phone with the manager who didn't even apologize for the oversight or even offer for me to come back to get it, but assured me (i.e. lied) that he was going to refund me the fruit charge. He even said that he was doing it 'right now'. Well, it slipped my mind to check my credit card over the next few days to see if I was indeed refunded. To be honest, I forgot about this whole incident until today, when I got my credit card bill invoice. There was a $18.52 charge from Big Biscuit, but no credit from them. I don't care about parting with however much the fruit charge was, but I certainly don't appreciate UNSCRUPULOUS business tactics and being lied to about "being refunded right now". Whoever the owners of this establishment is has to be aware of whoever they hire, because this is bad for business. This left a horrible taste in my mouth and will avoid this location, even though it's super close to me. I will take my business to the Big Biscuit on 111th and Antioch instead. I'm aware of the restaurant business (it is definitely not easy) growing up with my mom being a restauranteur and having helped her at her restaurant many years of my life, so this just doesn't sit very well with me. Service was not good. My wife and I sat at the bar so we could get quicker service. We e got our drinks right away and ordered. 45 minutes into waiting the waitress said they lost our ticket in the back. She told us it would be 20 more minutes. Once I explained we had waited 45 she said leaked off and came back 10 minutes later with our food. While we were waiting other patrons, who had been there longer, were complaining they had been waiting for at least 30 minutes. One guy sat down next to me and waited 10 minutes for our waitress to come back and when she didn't he left. Another lady came for a pick up order and had been waiting for 30 minutes and the manager spent an hour with her to get her food and gift cards. They had 15 or so wait staff and no one was getting served. This is the 2nd time I e have had to do this. We probably will not be back. read more

I have always been a fan of big biscuit. The quality of the food is always consistent. We came during brunch on a Sunday so they were slammed as expected. We waited 35 minutes to be seated but were taken care of promptly. We felt rushed to order but all our food came out how we ordered it and it was freshly made. We ordered coffee so it helped hold us over and we had nice conversations while waiting. We were checked on once but our server apologized for not being back more often. Ok let me say this place has the best biscuits I've ever had, including from down south where we just moved from! We've been here twice in the month we've been here. Totally recommend the sticky biscuit, we even took two home! Pre-plandemic the big biscuit was really, REALLY good and affordable. Food used to be hot and good sized. My son could never finish his pancakes and I could never finish any plate I got. Since then the portions have shrunk by a lot and the prices have nearly doubled. They want $3.50 for milk or coffee. $3.50!!! My sausage patties were super thin and my sons bacon was hardly what I would consider a piece of bacon. He did enjoy his pancakes and my biscuit and gravy was good. We were able to be seated fast despite a Saturday morning rush for brunch. Service was fast and friendly, the Cinnamon Roll pancakes were amazing and I would definitely recommend them! I tried the Bonut which is a biscuit in French toast batter and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It was pretty dry and I wont be selecting it again. Also the Florentine eggs Benedict was ok but the breakfast potatoes didn't have any seasoning on, so I had to ask for additional. I've been to a few Big Biscuit locations around KC, and I'm usually happy with my experience. I appreciate that they leave a carafe of coffee if you order it so you can top yourself off. I got the Chicken and Waffles at this location, which I've also gotten at other locations. Last time I got it, at a different location, I was thrilled at how juicy and well-seasoned the chicken was, so I was a little disappointed that this one was both blander and dryer. Not bad, just worse. The hash browns were a good level of crispy, though. The three others I was with were happy with their food, too. read more
