Today, the bacon (and the rest of the meal) was the best it has ever been!!!
    Bob K.

Our family has eaten at this Big Biscuit since it opened. The times when we choose to eat out for bfast, we will pick this Big Biscuit more often than not. We risked Covid to eat here a few times, which is the first restaurant we tried during the scary times. We have been absolutely loyal. So it is with huge regret that I update my review to say we are likely to avoid this restaurant in the future. I've the past few months, we have noticed a decline in the service and quality of food. We have seen this before, when managers are changing, but today's experience was a bit beyond... We were ushered to our table after a short wait. And then waited for someone to notice us for quite a while. After putting in our drink order, we waited again for someone to come back and get a food order. (Plus not having any silverware to stir my coffee...). Each of us ordered items we have ordered many times in the past. But the look and delivery was off for every item. Hash browns turned into breakfast potatoes, salsa and toast were missing, the cheese on an omelette was dumped in excess on one side, and the other side had none of the omelette internals... the full order of biscuits and gravy only had 3 of the 4 halves... it was weird. However, we didn't complain, because we heard the waitress taking harsh criticisms from The tables on either side of ours. It couldn't have been "all her fault" because she didn't cook the meal. We felt bad, and left her a decent tip. But the meal was maybe 3 of 5 stars. Then leaving, we drove around the back and saw someone taking trash out from the kitchen, and he appeared to throw up in the parking lot. So yeah. Our car was ablaze with comments and incredulity. He spit up, wiped his mouth in his sleeve, and kept on to the task of tossing his bag of trash. Did we actually see that? 3 of us, including me, clearly saw something we didn't want to see after a sub-par bfast. So... disappointment doesn't quite cover my feelings. But I just need some space, Big Biscuit. Maybe we can go to some therapy together and reconnect someday, but for now, let's just agree we are going to see other restaurants for a while. I'm adding star for the sake of our past relationship.

The food was delicious and my son said it was the best bacon he's ever had! The portion sizes were huge. Lots of variety on the menu. The establishment was clean and decorated nice. My only complaint was the wait. We called ahead and still had to wait for 30 minutes. When we were finally seated getting our drinks, and then our ordering our food also seemed like it took forever. Luckily, after we ordered they got the food out quickly. Most breakfast places you'll spend an hour or hour and a half tops and we were there for over two hours because of the long wait.

One omelet with no fruit comes to $18.52. And even charged for a delivery fee when it was a pickup!

Customer service here is HORRENDOUS!! I got take out from there about 3 weeks ago. Asked for a fruit substitution for my omelette order instead of what usually comes with it. They didn't inform me that I'd be charged for it, but that's fine, I don't mind even if they did charge for it; however, they should at least give me a heads up about it so that I wouldn't think why one omelette = $18.52. When I took the food home, not only did I find out from the receipt that they had indeed charge me, but THERE WERE NO FRUIT in the bag (and come to find out just now from the receipt that I found, a delivery fee was tacked on as well)! I quickly called them to let them know and I was put on the phone with the manager who didn't even apologize for the oversight or even offer for me to come back to get it, but assured me (i.e. lied) that he was going to refund me the fruit charge. He even said that he was doing it 'right now'. Well, it slipped my mind to check my credit card over the next few days to see if I was indeed refunded. To be honest, I forgot about this whole incident until today, when I got my credit card bill invoice. There was a $18.52 charge from Big Biscuit, but no credit from them. I don't care about parting with however much the fruit charge was, but I certainly don't appreciate UNSCRUPULOUS business tactics and being lied to about "being refunded right now". Whoever the owners of this establishment is has to be aware of whoever they hire, because this is bad for business. This left a horrible taste in my mouth and will avoid this location, even though it's super close to me. I will take my business to the Big Biscuit on 111th and Antioch instead. I'm aware of the restaurant business (it is definitely not easy) growing up with my mom being a restauranteur and having helped her at her restaurant many years of my life, so this just doesn't sit very well with me. BEWARE of this location!!

The Big Biscuit is a solid breakfast place. Their portions are huge! I would recommend sharing and definitely make sure to get a Sticky Biscuit for the table.

First time in this particular location, walked right in as there was no hostess. Sat at the bar , waitress was right there and took my order. This is in "Johnson county" so may update review as time goes.

I have always been a fan of big biscuit. The quality of the food is always consistent. We came during brunch on a Sunday so they were slammed as expected. We waited 35 minutes to be seated but were taken care of promptly. We felt rushed to order but all our food came out how we ordered it and it was freshly made. We ordered coffee so it helped hold us over and we had nice conversations while waiting. We were checked on once but our server apologized for not being back more often. She did give us coffee to go since we drank all of ours which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a good brunch and I will be back.

We were seated on time at a table next to the bar-side of the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, it's a nice, if standard size for a strip-mall space, but I really appreciated that the tables were not stacked on top of each other, as seems to be the case at more and more places these days. It felt like there might be some chance of our entire conversation not being completely overheard by our neighbors, which was nice for a change! Our waitress was fantastic! She walked us through the menu, the restaurant's approach to cooking and seasonality, some of her faves, and made wonderful recommendations! We decided to split a few small plates, which was a great approach! We got to try about 1/3 of the small plate menu, and loved it all! It was all great, but the Black Cardamom Burnt Ends are NOT to be missed! It made my cardamom-loving, Midwest soul very, very happy indeed! The space is a really nice size - not massive or overwhelming - and with the shades drawn down (to seal out the late afternoon sun, thank goodness!) and dim lighting, the mood vibes were solid for a romantic anniversary dinner! The other ambiance item of note is that the restroom corridor smelled absolutely fantastic! Upon investigation, it was due to a burning candle from a lovely local-KC company that was custom made for the restaurant! Yes, they're for sale, and yes, we picked up two! While everything was lovely and the food was very good, you're definitely paying a high price for it. Not that it's not deserved, but the "value" feels aren't necessarily "off the charts", by any means. And that is really my only critique, if there is any at all! Food = 5/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 5/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 3/5

Wings: The garlic parm was the standout -- fresh, flavorful, and honestly better than my usual Buffalo Wild Wings order. The tikka masala didn't really taste like tikka masala (more like a standard BWW flavor), but it was still tasty. The only drawback was the size of the wings -- smaller than I expected. Next time I'll probably go for the 16 or 20 piece. Waffle: I picked the Belgian waffle with maple syrup dip. It came hot but not crispy, with just a dusting of powdered sugar. Still sweet and enjoyable, though next time I want to try the bubble waffle for something different. Fries: Got the seasoned fries on the side -- good flavor and seasoning, though like the waffle, they weren't super crisp. Still tasty on their own, but I would've loved an option to pick dips (ranch, queso, garlic parm, etc.) instead of just being handed four maple syrups. Extras & Drinks: They also offer mac & cheese or the bubble waffle as side options, plus unique teas and lemonades for $1 more, or milkshakes for $4.50. Prices on extra dips are $0.99 each. Overall, it's a fun and unique concept -- fair-style food in a neighborhood spot. The food is flavorful, not always the crispiest or warmest on carryout, but easily fixed with a microwave or air fryer. I'll definitely be back, especially to try the bubble waffle and maybe some loaded fries or wraps/buns during happy hour (2-4 PM).

Scotch Eggs in Leawood?…read more Located in a suburban strip mall around 129th and State Line in Leawood, there is ample parking in the communal lot. Stepping inside the atmosphere is that of a real (modern) Irish pub, with a full bar and comfortable tables. An old wood and leather feel that sets the stage for authentic Irish fare. Having been to their restaurant in Westwood, I have to say that I like this location better - it just "feels" better. Being part of a group of about 20 for lunch, we were seated in a separate room which made socializing easy without bothering the other customers. After being welcomed by our waiter, menus passed out and drink orders taken, we were informed that their chef was from Dublan and that dishes were made fresh in-house. While I did see Scotch Eggs (I like to think of them as an Irish version of an Egg McMuffin) on the menu, I jumped on their Fish & Chips. The breaded North Atlantic Cod was moist and flakey at the same time, with a great flavor. Included was slaw, mushy peas, and their house cut fries (all very tasty). A dash of malt vinegar and a squeeze of lemon later and I was loving it all! Portions were all pretty large, so come hungry and expect to leave satisfied. Prices are well within expectations considering quality of service, food, and atmosphere. Having been a waiter "back in the day" I was impressed with the friendly and efficient service. Not once did I see anyone waiting overly long for drink refills or their meals. That is very comforting during these "post COVID" times of reopening and short staffing. Kudo's to all involved. It is nice to see a true Irish pub in the middle of Leawood. With this one and the one on Rainbow being about the same distance from my Lee's Summit home, expect to see me returning often. Next time I will try their Scotch Eggs!

The scampi had a generous portion of good size shrimp. The pork chop was very thick and large yet was very flavorful and tender. The pork chop came with mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables. However, in looking over the menu I saw they had a variety of sides. I asked if I could change me sides, which they were more than glad to do. I got the carrots and the cornbread. The carrots were delicious and there was a lot of them. The cornbread tasted good but was a little dry. Next time I would stay with the carrots but try something else. As I said the pork chop was very big and I took about half of it home. When I placed my order the waiter asked if I wanted to order a second pork chop, which I passed on. However, next time I may take him up on the offer and have an additional one to take home. All around I give it 5 stars. Also, we asked about desert. There was no desert menu nor a desert tray to help us make a decision. The waiter did rattle off the desert options, however this was kind of busy to follow. A desert menu or try would certainly go a lot further, as far as we are concerned. In summary, the food was outstanding, the service was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I tend to be a bit weary of chain restaurants. I have to say though, this one had a really nice vibe and I get why people like it here. First of all, it's a nice restaurant with elevated vibes. It reminded me of places I used to go with my grandparents as a kid. It had great service, comfortable seating, and a nice menu. If anything it just feels like it caters to an older crowd - nothing wrong with that, just not my usual vibe. For brunch that day I had the migas and it was really great. Tons of food, and I easily made two meals out of my lunch. Something to note about the menus though is that they don't have a kids menu. They did share items for kids that they have on hand, but no physical menu to look at so not sure the prices or anything. Our daughter had a hamburger and she loved it so that was a win. One plus was she was able to get a side of fruit instead of fries, which was a win for her since she has declared that she only likes McDonald's french fries these days. Overall this is a nice sit restaurant with table service that has an elevated and sophisticated vibe. Likely geared towards older generations but younger folks will find plenty to enjoy here as well.
