Another great breakfast! Three orders of French toast, pancakes, and a big country meal. Most of us had well scrambled eggs, one had fried. We all had either bacon, ham or sausage. The coffee was good and plentiful! The place was hopping with people arriving and departing, waitstaff dancing around, along with two managers out and about. I ordered the cinnamon streusel French toast, but the had sold out the day before. I "settled" for the regular sourdough, but asked for cinnamon to be sprinkled on it. Well this is to be expected this should be no surprise to anyone The restaurant got my order wrong and the DoorDash delivery guy got completely lost. I ordered the chicken fried chicken they did not supply the gravy ,,,fortunately I had a gravy pack in my pantry which I had to use. I'm giving Cracker Barrel one star. Not for the food and not for the wait staff. They are getting one star because they are unresponsive. Last year they came up with an app so you could pay via cell phone. I've used it all over Texas and it's a great convenience. Except for College Station. Tuesday lunch special, 5.99 only! The meatloaf is very good, not too salty or dry. It's very juicy. I was thinking to order rib eyes but lunch special is so cheap and comes with mash potatoes and another side, so why not? The biscuits are super good. I even asked 4 more to go. lol I'm cheap. The manager has no idea what the law is when it comes to buying alcohol and she was EXTREMELY rude and condescending when trying to explain the law (while also being wrong about it) to my partner who is 21 year old male. I don't like saying it's because we're gay and Hispanic but it definitely felt like that. The cornbread is also probably the worst cornbread I've ever had in my life it's super dry and has no flavor at all. I don't normally let other's negative reviews sway me but I should have paid attention to the negative reviews on this place. I made a mobile order to pick up in store for my friend in the hospital. When I came in (3 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready) I saw a shelve with bags and thought I needed to look through (instructions were to pick up in store, it's a normal thing to have orders ready on shelving). A woman working there named Jennifer approached and asked what I need and aggressively told me I wasn't allowed to do that and I needed to wait for my order. So I waited....I waited 30 minutes and nothing happened. Finally another woman starts working the general store areas and I go ask her to please help me. She radios to the kitchen about my problem and then the kitchen lady proceeds to YELL into her radio that it's my fault for not asking for my order and it's been ready 30 minutes. I asked for it 30 mins ago and Jennifer told me it wasn't ready! So the helpful woman, who I think was a manager, told me "oh she's on a Tirade today" and then apologized and gave me my food. She also gave me a bunch of coupons for free deserts but they're expired????? I think Jennifer shouldn't have a customer service job if she tirades this much and neglects to do her job. Yep it's a 3 star Cracker Barrel when I know they can easily get 5 from me. This location was clean, and had great shopping and gift options. However the service was lacking, our waitress never heard of "iced coffee" apparently since bringing a cup of ice and coffee was to hard to figure out. Also I'm gluten-free so had the gluten-free menu which was a employee manual of all the allergies, cool for that but they dont list the sides or what comes with them and looks kind of sterile. So I ended up paying $8 for a pork chop that looked like a slice of deli ham from HEB which was way over salted. Also had carrots and extra bacon that never came. Had to ask her 3 times for stuff we asked for... service sucked, food sucked, my partner enjoyed her food however. It's comfort food at its best. Don't go there if you want the diet plate, go there because you want the entree with the extra trimmings like your mom used to make. That being said, I do tend to prefer CB for their decadent breakfasts, finding their lunch and dinners to be "okay". My latest outing was ordering the pumpkin spice pancake breakfast. You get to dig on eggs any style and your choice of the usual breakfast meats as well. I usually go for the turkey sausage. So the pumpkin spice pancakes unfortunately were a hard pass. While they were certainly fluffy, the taste was so-so. The real drawback was the incredibly aromatic smell of the spice... a little too much on the floral side for me to really enjoy. Additionally, they arrive with whipped cream. Now that would seem to be a nice touch, but if your cakes are under a heat lamp, you'll find that the whipped cream is going to go flat almost immediately upon serving to you. Go figure. We travel to Ft Worth from Houston often, and have stopped here a couple of times. The staff is so nice, and the food is good. Go with a big appetite, or plan to share. I got the meatloaf with a baked potato and green beans. Everything was very good. We started with cornbread and biscuits. We had been informed that they were changing the menu, but I'm real disappointed that they have removed the Southwestern Scramble and the Egg-in-a-basket. I ordered the loaded hash brown casserole and ended up with only a side dish. So I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, while the rest of my family ate, thinking it would come out fairly soon since that stuff should be pre-made. But it took forever, and my family had pretty much finished by the time my order came out. To top it off, everything tasted bland, including the bacon. The gravy no longer has sausage in it. We went yesterday for supper because too hot to cook. Wife got the turkey and dressing and I got the meatloaf. The wife didn't like the dressing in fact she left most of it on the plate. The turkey wasn't that good either but that she did eat. I got the meatloaf and it was horrible. Should of got the chef salad like I usually get, it is good, just need to ask for extra dressing. Our family has been getting together at Cracker Barrel for some time. That may be at an end. Service has always been a bit slow, but if you get one of the experienced ladies, you typically get really good service. Last time, one of our party had raw bacon - seriously, inedibly raw. This time, it was slow to have our order taken, the food was not hot when it arrived, and not all orders were complete when they were delivered to the table. One of us had ordered biscuits and gravy. The gravy arrived but no biscuits. The server was surprised to be asked for biscuits and asked why we didn't have any left from those brought to the table at the start (um, hello - table of 9 - they were inhaled by some of our group). We ended up having to ask another server for biscuits, and she came straight away back and told us they were in the oven and how long they'd be. Our original server could and should have done so, but didn't bother. Not sure if the server had too many tables to cover, or just didn't care. Also did not get drink refills until well after they should have been delivered. Cracker Barrel needs to get it together or we're taking our business elsewhere. For that kind of poor service, I could run into any fast food restaurant in town. read more

We got into Bryan and the most convenient restaurant close to our hotel. In the premise that Cracker Barrel hardly disappoints we were certain it would be a winner. We ordered to go to lessen the burden on the waitstaff. Unfortunately; many things went wrong with the to-go order. First my party offered chicken fried steak and received chicken fried chicken. He asked for gravy on the side for the chicken, and gravy put on the mashed potatoes. There was not any gravy on the side. Every once and a while I lose my mind... take this morning for instance, my wife and I decide to take the family out for a nice breakfast. So what did we do...we took them to Cracker Barrel. Now this might seem like a normal thing to do but remember I said a nice breakfast. The order didn't get put in. After 20 minutes they let us know that it wasn't coming. They "started over" but somehow we got cold over easy eggs and cold "thick" cut bacon. The manager come out to say "gosh he was sorry" but didn't do anything to make it right. So 60 bucks and 2 cups of lukewarm brown water later we are headed out hopefully to never lose our minds again. The waitstaff has been friendly and the breakfast has been awesome. Their blueberry muffins have been fantastic, you have to ask for apple butter (a must have). Im disappointed in how they cant seem to cook eggs though. They've always been too runny where the whites arent even cooked and the grits are way too watery. The bacon needs to be cooked longer (I like it crispy, but I guess I need to specify next time). I feel like this place is a hit or miss. It's different every time read more
