Another great meal at Cracker Barrel, Saturday night. Went in and was told it'd be about a ten minute wait. Which was fine as we just went and browsed in the store area. Seemed like three minutes later they had a table for us. As we walked to the table I noticed several open ones and got the impression they may be short staffed. But while dining was able to see several staff floating around the dining area so that just seemed unusual. I am sure there is a reason but I just didn't get it. No matter, we ordered and after a little bit of a wait our food arrived. I b guess I should have asked for the corn bread and biscuits be served before the entrees as we were a little hungry. This might just be a server preference as the table next to us with a different server got theirs early. Cole slaw was a bit of disappointment as it seemed there wasn't any mayo or sauce in it. Perhaps they didn't mix the batch enough and the scoop we got was from the part without the mayo. Anyways, got the bill and used the app to pay. I dry rarely go to Cracker Barrel because we prefer local breakfast spots but I was meeting a friend who chose it. The store is adorable with so many little trinkets, I could wander around for a long time browsing! Our server, Sydney was very polite and service was fast! we stopped for lunch this week at our local c/b -- to be honest, the past few times we have not been quite pleased with the food (not hot) or the room quite noisy --- enough of negative! We had an awesome server, an awesome window-seat, and a knock-your-socks off hamburger with hot as could be french fries - this was my "last meal" prior to hospitalization and I wanted to have something somewhere I NEVER have - so thankful it was wonderful! It is now March 2026 - and next week I have further surgery, so..... we are planning breakfast at Cracker Barrell; it is our "hospital" tradition. read more

I have not been to a Cracker Barrell in years. I have only gone to the ones in the south. But I was in RI and decided to stop there for lunch. I had forgotten you had to go through the store to get to the restaurant. I was seated quickly, and my server came over immediately and asked what I would like to drink. I have always gotten their Chicken N' Dumplins and had very fond memories of it. So I ordered Chicken N' Dumplins -slow simmered right in our kitchen plus choice of two Country Sides. $7.49 Served with hand-rolled buttermilk biscuits OR corn muffins and real butter. I decided on extra country green beans as my sides. The dish was brought out within 10 minutes and looked wonderful! I had asked for biscuits as well. The chicken was pretty good, moist, not very flavorful but not much of it. However the dumplins were lumps of hot (not really cooked fully ) dough in a white sauce. It tasted like raw flour. The country green beans were good, made with bacon bits and tender. I left most of it on the plate and when the server asked me if everything was ok, I said, "The dumplins don't seem cooked through and it tastes very different from what I remember." He said it's how they make them every day. I smiled and asked for the check. He was a great server and very attentive. That will be my last visit to this location of the Cracker Barrell. My grandmother made chicken and dumplins all the time when I was a child, and when I first went to a Cracker Barrel, they were very similar. I don't know what changed but they were awful. The food was hot and fresh, the service was amazing. Emily was a great server. Our food was taking a bit long but she kept us up dated. So that was very nice. The ambiance was okay, it's like every Cracker Barrel. But it was clean and they made sure it was done. The little gift shop was nice and clean and organized very well. It pays to read the menu. In my post-dawn fog and autonomic breakfast habit I ordered a mushroom and tomato omelette at Cracker Barrel. To my great surprise, the waitress looked at me like I had just summoned a gluten-free pound of crack cocaine. "We don't do omelettes here... and certainly not mushrooms" she sniffed as I hastily found other vittles on the menu more to her liking. This is a place that will sell you a Jimmy Carter Pez Dispenser or a 78 rpm wax cylinder of Hank Williams Greatest Hits in their country store but can't rustle up a basic omelet north of the Mason-Dixon line. I have been skipping my way through Cracker Barrels lately as they are awesome. First, they do an amazing breakfast and if you avoid the (delicious) hashbrown casserole and the (fluffy) biscuits, it's keto friendly. But mostly? They allow overnight parking for campers and RVs in their parking lot. Thanks for that! My breakfast was yummy and the service is excellent. The "Old Country Store" is full of all sorts of interesting stuff that I likely will never purchase but it's fun to look at. And the restroom is clean. I was not impressed. I sat in my seat for a little less than 10 minutes and never was acknowledged by any server. I ended up asking for a to go order from the hostess instead. I let her know that I was in a hurry and she called her supervisor to place the order (it was 7:30 AM and they were certainly not busy). At the end of taking my order he said it would be 10 to 15 minutes before it was ready. I told him I needed 10 minutes and he said they could do it in 10. 12 minutes later, the manager came slowly sauntering out of the kitchen with my to go order. We stopped here on the way back from Martha's Vineyard. Was looking forward to a nice country breakfast. The staff is very friendly and our waitress although new, she was great. The food for me wasn't great. The food IMO was bland. The pancake was too done and gummy. Really didn't even eat it. The grits were clumpy and bland....added some butter and salt and they were ok except for the clumpy parts. I will honestly say I'm not a fan of Cracker Barrel but always give it a chance (for my wife's sake). Was hoping it would be better but it wasn't. Needed to eat and it fit the bill. This place is great for online ordering and pick up. They allowed many modifications and so many side dishes to choose from! We ordered a chicken fried chicken platter and a southern fried chicken breast meal. How do they make the coating taste so good??!?! My biggest gripe was that the whipped butter that they provide is unsalted.... I saved all of my butter packs and used it to make buttered pasta the next day where I can add salt. But I had sad biscuits and corn bread... Also the sweet potato wasn't cooked enough. The flesh was still pretty firm. Never been to a cracker barrel before. Never. On the way from PVD to NYC. Stopped for gas at BJ and wanted some real food for the drive. went in and asked the host how long it would take to order a meal to go. He said 5 minutes and sure enough, he was right! He told us the chicken dinner would be the fastest - 2 chicken breast, 2 sides, biscuit and cornbread for $14.99. Can't go wrong. Only complaint, I though we were getting plain chicken breasts and we got fried chicken breasts. Tender and juicy, just surprised. Meal served 2 no problem. Hint: get 2 portions of coleslaw. Seated at 10:50 am. Was told we couldn't order lunch as it didn't start until 11. Our drinks weren't even delivered until 11:10. Server was completely overwhelmed with far too many tables to give competent service. I would have much rather waited for our table than be seated and ignored. Walls and table were not clean and definitely not sanitized. Food was disgusting complete with a hair on my plate. Bacon undercooked. Never got the chance to tell our server since she didn't come back to check on us. She happily dropped the bill though. Shoes stuck to the floor in the restrooms. A review of my last two visits to Cracker Barrel. Visit 1 back in April. Service could've been better, seemed to go missing for a time. Portions seemed a little lighter than I recall. I get it, but it left me wanting more so I grabbed a pack of maple fudge in the gift shop. More on the gift shop later. Visit 2 early June. Logan was our server. Excellent worker. His availability despite noticing he was handling most of the tables in our section was impressive. Not only was he friendly and aware of things (such as drink refills before asking for such), he also did something with our order I wasn't thinking of but it actually turned out great. A couple of the meals had sauce toppings and one of us asked for it on the side but he put it on the side for both. It was a nice surprise as it allowed for sampling and sharing. Visit 2 was MUCH better. Portions were way more than I was expecting after the previous visit, service was outstanding. Now, the gift shop... just take my money. I entered to a clean store, which appeared to be fully stocked. We were promptly greeted by the hostess. Seated right away. Our server was quite pleasant and helpful. The country fried steak was ordered along with mashed potatoes and beans. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with real maple syrup. These pancakes may have been the best I've ever had. Fluffy buttery goodness with that nice little bit of crispiness on the edge. Melting butter along with real maple syrup. The country fried steak was hot crispy. Serve with a peppery country gravy along with brown gravy on the mashed. No complaints. The store staff could not have been more helpful. I was assisted with my bottled soda shopping. It was nice to have the cardboard cartons available. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Kudos to the entire staff for keeping such a clean, well run restaurant & store. I love Cracker Barrel, so when I travel, I always look for one. This was the second time I've been to this location and both times were not disappointing. I ordered the usual, pancakes and eggs. They are always cooked perfectly and I love them. But my husband and a friend each ordered steak and eggs. What they got was not expected. The eggs were cooked perfectly of course and all the sides that came with them were delicious. The star of their plates was the steak. Not just any steak but a big thick juicy, cooked perfectly steak. We were all so impressed and could not believe it. The cost was under 12.00! Hope we can go back soon!!! read more

Is it good for groups? Yep. Good for kids? Yepper. Always love hitting the Barrel on the way home from any roadtrip. Since they're usually located just off of major highways, you can't help spotting the huge yellow signs on top of the 50 ft green steel columns. Even miles before you get there, the billboard advertisements are splattered along the sides of the road. If we leave early on our way back from Boston, this location in RI is the perfect spot to stop for breakfast, just off the exit on I-95. Almost every Cracker Barrel is a cookie cutter for the next one with minor differences, like the men's and women's restrooms are swapped, so be careful which one you walk into. I'll usually go for an Uncle Herschel's breakfast because who doesn't like having grilled catfish first thing in the morning? You have your choice of protein of course. This time, however, I went with Grandma's Breakfast Sampler, which seemed to be even bigger than Uncle Herschel's. 2 eggs over easy, slice of ham, bacon & sausage, hash brown casserole plus 2 pancakes is pretty substantial for just about anybody. I didn't eat for the rest of the day! The pancakes were inconsistent though, with over done and one barely beige. I do like the individual bottles of warm syrup for the pancakes though. It's a nice touch. Service is with a smile and you feel like everybody's got that down home charm, so it's always an enjoyable experience. My experience with Cracker Barrel has been fair. I ordered Cracker Barrel takeout and service was very slow even though I had placed the order over half an hour prior. The food was pretty good as I ordered tater tots, fried chicken, beans, biscuits, etc. The beans could have been cooked much better, but the rest of the meal was good. So I love CB and times are tough but this is my third and last Coventry RI visit and I work just around the corner. Visit 1...slow and cold food. Pancakes ice cold.. nice servercso Ibtipped well because..covid. Visit 2. Line wait 40 minutes donopted to order to go. Got back to work...totally wrong order and guess what? Cold and items slopped out of bag. Visit 3. Fast wait time to be seated. LONG WAIT FOR SERVER and only 1 other table on this side ofbplace. Even longer wsit. Food finally comes. Cold oil soaked fries (re dropping to heat up does that so NOT fresh) and very well done fries. All very vool. Plate warmer than food. Bread was great and butter rock hard. Great little store but coming here in a Monday afternoon in Coventry RI the restaurant was slow- men's bathroom was atrocious so we told the hostess (who was wonderful). Was sat and table was less than clean. Floors were absolutely disgusting with food. We have been here many times in the past and never a problem. It was not busy at all so why would this ever be? Nod the the manager? Seriously with an Applebees across the street why deter people from eating there? Hope this changes or we won't be the first to walk out. read more

I've been coming here for years, and just went back a few days ago. Its a national chain, but better than most chains. The restaurant is large and roomy, has classic American decor, a huge hearth which they light in the colder months. Parking is more than ample, and its almost always crowded here, but you never have to wait for a table. Sometimes its a little loud, but probably due to the large open room and lack of carpet. The service is always good. We had a waiter named Max and he was top notch. Very personable, great service! The food is good and for 30.00 you can get a couple of sodas, rolls and jam, and two entrees with 2 or 3 sides each. Portions could be a little bigger, particularly with the side. I had the roast beef and it was nice and tender and everything was good. My friend had the pancakes. She wished they still had the cherry compote, but still enjoyed it. I love the country store, lots of interesting items and hard to find bottled sodas and jams etc. The front staff and cashiers are always courteous. I often give out gift cards (the ones from the grocery store) to friends and family because its popular with other people too. I recommend getting items like roast beef and other American classics rather than sandwiches, since they specialize in dinners like that. So to summarize, yes its a chain, but definitely worth going there for dinner. read more

Only gets 2 stars because the staff was diligently telling the morons in the gift shop waiting area to put their damn masks back on. It was stupid to go on a busy day, so my mistake to begin with. I ordered a hungry man type dish with eggs, bacon, ham, grits, fried apples, etc for $10 I think. What I got was about $4.50 worth of food, pretty pitiful display. It was shocking that a place would let something that sad looking leave the kitchen. The meat was pretty sad. The apples and cheesy grits were actually pretty good. This is my favorite breakfast place. We don't go here often because we don't go out for breakfast often anymore since the pandemic. It was really nice to go and bring family members who also are big fans. The service was a little slow but that's to be expected and is not a problem for us the food was taking a while to come out and we had two little ones so the server brought a plate of biscuits out for the table. That was very kind and we appreciate it. My aunt wanted the hash brown breakfast without the hashbrowns and with sausage instead of bacon so we just put together an order of the things that she wanted and they were happy to accommodate that. Stopped in for breakfast mid-afternoon in October. It was cool enough outside for a light jacket, but this restaurant had the AC on. We moved to another table to get away from the cold air, but it really didn't make a difference. The food - eggs and french toast were overcooked, hash browns were mushy, ham was dry. The sourdough toast was the best part, and the waitress was very nice. Overall, it was not a good experience. Not going back. read more

We put in our name with a hostess that didn't even acknowledge we were standing there...I said excuse me ? Hostess then said oh sorry I'm so tired....umm ok. Then we were seated an hour after we were told 30 minute wait.....again didn't complain. We got seated and they were out of what we wanted to order....waitress forgot half our stuff we did order...told manager and he had the same story everyone gives for 2022 we r short staffed. Maybe operate at less capacity then. I think it's unbelievable that businesses make their problems the clienteles problem. Manager didn't even seem to care or offer any discount for us to be returning customers. Food was mediocre at best.....
