I've eaten here about a half-dozen times, both breakfast and lunch, and the food has always been decent to very good. Servers, hosts and cashiers have all been pleasant, every time. The restaurant is often busy, but there is ample parking, and I've never had to wait very long for a table. While you are waiting, you can either sit in a rocking chair outdoors, or browse the cool items in their country store. My wife loves this store; they sell old-time snacks and candy that are hard to find elsewhere. This is one of the better quality chain restaurants out there. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that their portion sizes could be a bit bigger. read more

Had breakfast here this morning after a surgical procedure. The breakfast that I had was quite surprisingly good. I have been here before and have not always walked away satisfied. Today was entirely different. My eggs were cooked exactly as I asked for them and their home fries with cheese and bacon was to die for. I always love going to the gift shop, and always find something unique or different either for a stocking stuff or a Christmas gift. I never leave there without buying candy for my grandchildren. Growing up my life always stopping and eating at a Cracker Barrel is a natural trend in my family. Whenever on a road trip we have our Cracker Barrel map so we make sure we stop in and have breakfast, lunch or dinner! For breakfast my favorite is the smokehouse breakfast and of course the biscuits with sawmill gravy. Another thing I love to do it at breakfast is have a side of turnip greens if it's after 11 AM because it's a nice treat to have something green to go with your scrambled eggs and grits. For lunch it's hard to beat their specials of the week and the chicken fried chicken! But when they have their special double Fried chicken breast and two sides definitely get that one the best! My sister and I love to play checkers rocking back-and-forth by the fireplace or if you luck out and get the checkered table by the fireplace that's even greater. We always stop at a Cracker Barrel to have a checker tournament and to have breakfast and enjoy our time together it's such a family ordeal for us. Cracker Barrel is a staple for American comfort food. Heading home on I95, I came up with this wacky idea to get Cracker Barrel on the way home. My buddy that was traveling with me has never experienced what it feels like to be slapped in the face with American cuisine that screams FREEDOM! Cracker Barrel takes you back a ways and serves you that Southern Comfort that every human should experience in there life from like the 1950's. Me personally have been to numerous Cracker Barrels now all one in the same. To the point were I can walk thru the front doors and walk straight back to the bathrooms avoiding a few display items in the store. The layout is always the same, which is a plus. Every C.B. is decorated with historical items all around the Store/Restaurant gives it an old rustic feeling. I have yet to meet a rude waiter/waitress they all come to you with smiling faces and a very polite tone. The food quality is superb. Again, massive restaurant nationwide (Except for Long Island). All the food is home style cooking. The kind of meals your mother would make you when you were a child. So many different side dishes come with the meal you pick also. Lee was called we waited then they call 2 others parties before us ( and 1 of those was a party of 2 like I was. Waitress was right at table no complaints about that. I must say, recently I have not been the biggest fan of Cracker Barrel because of the food has not been very consistent but my meal this time was meh. I had the new fried chicken cutlets which were very small in size, they were very tough in taste, i don't think i would order them again. My niece had to purchase an adult meal because her kids breakfast didn't come with a meat option which was almost double the price of a kids meal, the option to add on wasn't given also. I can also say the service was very mediocre, our soup was brought with the meal, which was order and specifically asked to come before. We were over charged $8 on the bill, and if it wasn't for my looking over the bill very intensely we probably would not have caught the error. I def think they missed the mark this time, I don't know if I will be returning too soon, but hopefully they make some changes because my family does enjoy this location. read more

As a kid I would love coming here. But now that I'm older I keep having bad experiences. The last time I went I was with my ex. The bottles of syrup are so freaking small and if you ask for more they charge you. So I needed more to drink and I don't know where my waitress was so I flagged down another waitress and this waitress acted like our waitress! So then the original waitress brought us the check and my ex wanted a drink. The waitress didn't even ask us if we were finished. So my ex said that he wanted another drink... So get this.. The waitress who had been MIA the whole time and brought us another check and charged us for that drink! Tasty food but service can be a bit slow. It gets very busy, so don't expect to rush in and out. The store at the entrance/exit is fun to browse in and they have some unique items. I recently had a conversation with someone over a plain, normal, good breakfast and asked... "How do you screw up breakfast?". Well... Cracker Barrel seems to have the answer! We ordered 2 old timers breakfasts. Mine over easy, hers over medium. Hers came out over easy and mine were undercooked and slimey. Both plates were bland and underseasoned. The biscuits were bland, undercooked and doughy. The grits and gravy were also underseasoned. On a positive note and for the one star... The orange juice was good. The most interesting, but not surprising part of the experience... Upon seeing my plate of completely uneaten eggs... The server simply laid down the check and didn't bother to ask how we enjoyed the meal or if there was anything wrong. My first and last visit to Cracker Barrel. I'm now editing my post... Cracker Barrel serves Southern-style, down-country food and a lot of it at a very reasonable price. The dinners are tasty, and the entrees come with two "vegetables" - in quotes because one of the vegetables is "mac and cheese." This is my kind of place! In my opinion, the breakfasts are the way to go. It is served all day, and their specials are great. Chicken-fried chicken or steak, or pork chops... hash brown casserole, fried apples, country gravy and biscuits... need I say more? It's better than IHOP, Denny's, and Waffle House - way better. Maybe a little more expensive, but not by much. Yes, the decor is cheesy, but at least it feels more homey than the "international" house of pancakes. Parking, of course, is plentiful, and service is always with a smile. Not a light, low-fat way to start the day, but if you're in the mood, Cracker Barrel hits the spot. read more

We went on Memorial Day weekend on Sunday at 12. The wait was 1/2 hour. It was so crowded , we couldn't move in the store. After we were seated, the waitress came quickly, but the food was very slow. When it came, the pancakes were not blueberry and the eggs were not over medium. The sausage was burned and there were no biscuits with my husband's order. We told the waitress, she offered to take mine back, but I wasn't waiting another half hour. She brought me a blueberry pancake. By then the tea was cold. As I paid, they asked how it was and I said that it wasn't great. After explaining to Rob, the manager , he cancelled the whole $22.00 charge, which was amazing. My first time at Cracker Barrel and it's definitely not for the health conscious but it was much better than your average breakfast place. The set up is completely difference from what we're used to. You enter in a store and shop around until they call you. They serve you their own pancake syrup and its hot which is a nice touch. Hubby got biscuits, grits and gravy. Nothing we would ever order but you got to try it once. If you've never been, it's definitely worth a visit. Oh and they had some kind of potatoes with cheese that tasted JUST like risotto!! Comfortable, inexpensive, kitschy. . . We recently decided to stop by for breakfast after an absence of several years during which we had become regulars at a couple of places closer to home. I guess we're really afflicted with the RI bug that makes it challenging to drive more than 15 minutes for anything. . . Well, let me say, nothing has changed at all in the years since our last visit. Walking through the gift shop/general store with its candies and knick-knacks and gew-gaws to the hostess stand, a greeting by a smiling hostess, the dark wood paneled dining area, all of it the same as before. The menu is classic comfort, and I opted for a Double Meat Breakfast, which has Three Eggs cooked to order with a full order of Bacon and Smoked Sausage Patties. Served with Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits and my wife had Two Eggs n' Biscuits. Service was quick and pleasant; I liked that they assumed we were going to have coffee as the server had it in hand when she initially greeted us, so we didn't have to wait even for that. The food was good, warm and filling. Price was very reasonable, about 2/3 the price as our usual breakfast place, and I have to say there wasn't really a big difference in volume or quality. We're definitely going to try to put this place back in our breakfast rotation, especially if we need to go to the nearby Walmart Supercenter in the future. read more

Cracker Barrel is usually a great way to start my day. Unfortunately, this morning was not one of them. Maybe the lack of coffee was a big factor, I am not sure. What I do know is that getting into an argument with the waitress right out of the gate is not a good way to start the day. I placed my order minus the grits and gravy and asked for basic hash browns. Was told their was no substitutions as the grits and gravy were complimentary. A good stop after a long New York City trip. We arrived around 10 PM to a virtually empty store. Our waitress seated us promptly near the crackling fireplace and took our orders quickly. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves till a few late nighters came in also. It took a while to figure out what we wanted due to the large breakfast and lunch/dinner selection. In the end we settled for breakfast. I got the double meat pancake breakfast and my girlfriend got multi grain french toast with a side of turkey sausage. Both were decent and we finished them right up. Speedy friendly service makes this trip to a chain restaurant a great experience. So, it is funny to give this a 3 star knowing that I go to this place, in the big scheme of things, often. I think that is because I travel a lot and these seem to be everywhere I go. So, the food is with a southern flare, which is good for me being from that general direction. The food is good, consistent and inexpensive. The folks that work there are always nice. I get in my happy comfy place when i know im going here! I love the decore, the fire place smell, the old fashion look. The service is great courtouse and there ranked by stars on there apron. Now for the best part..the food...i just love that it's comfort home made food. I really enjoy the pot roast that has been slow cooked for 18 hours..can you say melt in your mouth! The first time I've been to a Cracker Barrel was in San Marcos in Texas. Since leaving from there, I wanted to go again. Here was my chance in Coventry, RI. It seems like all of these places are set up almost exactly the same. Service was good and everyone was nice. The sweet tea here is something that I really love when I come here. Throughout my whole meal, I got 5 glasses of sweet tea while I was there and loved every glass. I love the side dishes and got greens and fried apples. I also tried other sides and really enjoyed all of them a lot. I got the special of the day, which was Wednesday so it was Cheddar Broccoli Chicken. the food was really good and it was a meal that I could not stop from eating extremely quickly. My girlfriend's food on the other hand was not as hot as it could be (Since this is about my food, I'll put an emphasis on my experience!). The biscuits there are really good and I really like the consistency of most of the Cracker Barrels across the country. It is also a nice place to hang out especially with all of the rocking chairs out front in the porch. During a nice hot day it is really relaxing all in all I love this place, but I do have to subtract a star for the food not being as hot as it could be. read more
