This place is definitely not cracking my Top 25 places to eat in Franklin. But on a rainy Wednesday night, when the refrigerator is emptier than a college dorm room, this place will absolutely deliver some good old-fashioned comfort food. Walking in here is also a reminder that... I might be getting a little older. You know you're old when you look around the dining room and realize half the "decorations" are things you actually grew up using. I'm pretty sure my grandmother had three of those items in her kitchen. Back in the day they used to bring biscuits to the table immediately. Boom. Biscuit drop within 30 seconds. Now they wait until your food comes out. Honestly, that's probably a smart move. Their biscuits are pretty darn good, and there were many younger versions of me that would've eaten so many biscuits that my entrée would've needed a to-go box before I even started. For dinner I ordered the fried catfish, which was lightly breaded and cooked just right. Not greasy, not overdone just good Southern comfort. My sides were loaded hash browns and corn, which fit the rainy-day comfort food theme perfectly. My wife ordered the vegetable plate, and she really liked it... which is impressive. Service was good, although our waiter wasn't exactly hovering. In fact, my water glass stayed empty long enough that I briefly considered sending out a search party. After we finished eating, my wife did what wives do in this place, she wandered into the gift shop to "just look." If you've ever been here, you know that can be dangerous. Fortunately, she didn't find anything she absolutely had to have, which saved me about $47 in decorative rooster merchandise. Checkout took a little longer than expected due to some register confusion, so I stood there for about five minutes reflecting on life... and wondering how a place that sells this many biscuits can't move a checkout line faster. I am a Dasher and had an awful experience waiting for 2 orders. one of which I had to unassign because after 30 minutes, there was still no meatloaf and they claimed there was an order before to get it first. as much as the lady in the front was kind, the short staffing in the back affects everyone. they don't care about the delivers which hurts the dashers more than the customers and store. if you're short staffed, turn off delivery. that's what good management would do read more

The best thing about Cracker Barrel is consistency. In my experience, no matter what location you go to, it'll be the same. On this particular visit, there was no wait, and the host was very bubbly and seemed to really enjoy his job. We were sat immediately and greeted quickly by our server who got our drinks quickly and then came back to take our order. I really appreciated her working to put our order in in a way that made it the most cost effective way for us, versus in a way to make the check more expensive. We asked for bread, and receive that immediately. The food came out incredibly fast. And then we ended up needing to order one more kids meal because the kids were still hungry. This is not reflective of the portion sizes, because I think they're fine - my kids just eat a lot. They split that amongst the three of them. That meal came out really fast - even though the restaurant had filled up by the time we were receiving our food. All in all, everything was great. As we were leaving, I did notice a couple of ants on the table but we were very close to the wall where all of the trinkets are. I notified the staff on our way out after we had paid and they immediately went to handle it. Note that this is not a cleanliness issue - the restaurant was clean. Ants are tiny and can get in anywhere. I'm only bringing it up to say that the staff was attentive and were making a priority to handle it. Everything about this visit was great. read more

Today is New Year's Day. I had a horrible experience. Maybe they were short staffed? I really don't know. But, we were seated right away, party of two. We sat for about 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table and then she said " let me see who your server is". A short time later, our server came over and apologized explaining she didn't know our table as in her section. I ordered the soup of the day, chicken noodle. Also ordered the baked chicken with broccoli. My sides were carrots and hashbrown casserole. And cornbread. My boyfriend ordered country fried steak. Biscuits. And his sides were corn and hashbrown casserole. Our entrees arrived quickly, so quickly I didn't even get my soup yet. We also didn't get the biscuits or cornbread. So I asked for them. Well, I had to send it back because it was ice cold. My boyfriend's country fried steak didn't come with the gravy, so he had to ask for it. My carrots were so overcooked they were mash. Overall, horrible experience. I will say our server was nice and apologetic, but that did little to repair all the damage done. read more

SO GOOD! Had the chicken fried chicken with biscuits and over easy eggs. Eggs were beautiful. The chicken fired chicken really surprised me with its clean crispy breading and juicy meat. Really good! The biscuits were slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I couldn't ask for more. Lastly, the sweet tea didn't taste like syrup. Addy did a great job talking with my table, bringing needed items and always checking in on us. Overall, very pleased with this trip. Would like to go again. read more

I eat at Cracker Barrel frequently. Food is usually good, takeout service is great. But I would avoid ordering a particular meal - the shrimp steak combo meal. The steak is of very poor quality - I had to throw most of it out as I don't like stringy fat-riddled meat. Ugh! Will never order it again. read more

I recently moved to TN on a faith walk with God, I was in a very abusive marriage but God got me out! I frequent this CB since it's within walking distance of the motel I'm living at. So, the best part about Cracker Barrel during a pandemic is that when your hotel is no longer offering any breakfast or food option, you can just walk across the parking lot and hit up the ol' CB. It was not the cleanest restaurant I've ever visited, but they enforced masks for staff and guests, so that's a start. The restrooms and the eating area weren't really clean. The dust, dirty glass, just overall dingy, but the table was clean and the servers were friendly. They weren't always quick (regardless of how empty it was), but they would bring a refill, and would make polite banter as needed. The food was standard, not anything you'd really expect to be over the top or different, if you've ever visited another Cracker Barrel in your life. It was fine. It served its purpose, and I'm glad that it was here when the dirty hotel next door couldn't provide. It was great for what it was, but I don't think you're coming here for it to be more than it really is. read more

I placed a takeout order on April 19, 2024. Got there on time and 30 minutes later I got it. By the time I got it home it was cold and portions were very small. I did a written complaint and was told by email it would be reimbursed quickly. I used my venmo card and still as of today and numerous calls I still do not have the funds back. My visit found the dining room with a good crowd for breakfast. Masks were off. Folk were smiling and enjoying their meals. The waitresses were very busy and happy to be (they told me so!) The food (Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast) was good and service was excellent in the dining room. Biscuits, grits, hash brown casserole, gravy, fried steak, eggs...nothing missed a beat! The all-day breakfast concept seems to bleed over into the rest of the menu as the table near me was receiving burger plates long before noontime. Fair is fair, right?  There's still a pandemically rooted staffing shortage that's unlikely to go away any time soon. So, (unless you're willing to lend a hand and apply for an open position) please ensure you've kept your entitlements securely muzzled and on their swankiest short leashes. My meal was brought out to my car within 10min, nice & warm, & they even threw in a cup of ice cream that I didn't even order. Went to this location during our travels of Tennessee. After a disappointing visit to Pigeon Forge CB location, we decided to try this location. WOW! What a difference. It was Friday night and we thought for sure we'd have to wait. Joined the wait list on the website, arrived in 5 mins to be able to walk in and be seated. Connor, our server performed flawlessly! Attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. While there seemed to be less staff, the staff here were better trained. The meal arrived in a timely fashion, hot and appealing. I had an amazing time at Cracker Barrel with my family. Food was prepared properly this time (usually I get my food and it's nasty). Isaac definitely was the best server I've ever had he made sure the food was good. I usually don't go to this Cracker Barrel because of bad experiences but Isaac made it worth coming back and will definitely be coming back.
