I wish zero stars was an option for this Cracker Barrel location....I probably will never visit another location ever again. We waited for 20 minutes even after joining the online waitlist before we showed up. We were seated, waited another 10 minutes for someone to come say hello, and when she took our drink order, insisted we go ahead and order our meal. I wasn't ready to order and just said the first thing I saw on the menu. She kept walking past our table and we had empty drinks, forgot our biscuits we ordered as an appetizer, and was extremely rude when we simply asked where they were/drink refill. I like to peruse the store whether I eat here or not. There are numerous nostalgic items and always something on sale. This spot is especially convenient because it is right off I-65 exit # 65 in Franklin, TN. The food, atmosphere and service are about average. I prefer the breakfast foods to the lunch menu. Everything is mostly decent-tasting comfort food. I don't frequent this chain, but when I am traveling via car, I know that (if I want average Southern comfort food) I can find a Cracker Barrel in almost any city and get a decent meal. read more

This location is not the crown jewel for this chain. Quite the contrary. As time has gone on this location just keeps getting worse and worse. Case in point during dinner on a Sunday evening; once seated it took about 5 minutes to get our drink order. Then it took another 5 minutes to take our order. It took 15 to get our order out. I ordered a bowl of beans. Did not come with chow-chow or onions nor rolls. Track down our waitress and another 15 minutes to get my condiments. Still no rolls. Then I needed a refill on tea. She filled it up with the wrong tea. 10 more minutes to flag her down then another 5 minutes to get a refill. Still no rolls. At this point I have finished my beans and just want to get out of there. 10 more minutes to get the check. But wait, it is the wrong check. She cannot find my check so she has to go back and ring it up again. Another 5 minutes gone. I get up and am approached by the manager who asks how my meal was. I relay all this to him and all he can say is that he is in his first week and they are working out kinks. Did not offer to comp my meal or give me a discount. Unbelievable. Attention Cracker Barrel Management: Went to brunch with a girlfriend this past Saturday. We've always had great service, but this particular time we were graced by two angels. Your waitress, Megan, was the sweetest babe. She had a way of making us feel 100% supported in all of our menu decisions. She also had perfect refill timing. She needs more stars on her apron. In fact, her apron should be one big shining star. Not only were we graced with the presence of Sweet Megan, but upon check out we met Tyler. This witty, baby faced gentleman made our departure even greater. I happily handed over my money to a man that met my sarcasm standards. I've been to a couple Cracker Barrels across the country, and this one is definitely better than most of them. Our server got our orders quickly and would check us regularly if we needed anything. Ordered the grilled chicken tenders and we got three plates of that and they all came out looking like kids meals???? Where then we were told that that's the usual portion but every other Cracker Barrel I've been to has given us much larger portions. We were then asked "I can bring you some bread if that helps?" For some reason, this store consistently has problems, particularly in their take out. I have lost count of how many times they either got the order wrong, or the service was slow. I just picked up dinner tonight, and one of the sides was a tossed salad with 1000 island dressing. I got home, and ranch was in the bag. It even said 1000 island on the ticket. We had relatives visiting from out of state and we wanted to take them to Waffle House for breakfast but noooooooo, they wanted to go to Cracker Barrel. There were five of us in our party and our four star waitress was very sweet and friendly. The young lad helping her out with our drinks was on the ball too. Unfortunately, the food quality did not measure up to the fine service. I ordered a simple breakfast of two eggs over easy, country ham, a side of bacon, toast and grits. The eggs were way overcooked, the bacon was undercooked and super greasy, the country ham was very salty and the grits were like soup. You would need a straw to eat them. I asked our waitress for a different bowl of grits and she said that is how CB prepares them. It was the total opposite of a Waffle House breakfast. The rest of the clan wasn't too impressed with their selections either. At Waffle house, the eggs are always perfect, the bacon is cooked nicely, the country ham is not salty and the grits are a perfect consistency. That was my last breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Trust me....the Waffle House is a well oiled machine and hard to beat. The only thing Cracker Barrel has going for it is the gift shop.....and the ladies love it. read more

We ate here around 730 pm on Friday night during the dinner rush. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for our table, which was fine and a sign of good food usually. Our food came out pretty quickly, the grilled chicken salad and chicken tenderloin dinner with corn, dumplings, and mashed potatoes. Both meals were tasty and as always more than we could eat. Their lemonade is my absolute favorite and the only time I order it at a restaurant besides the fair because it is so fresh and comes in the frozen mugs. The server was sweet, but forgot a salad dressing and we had to ask twice for jam for our biscuits. Unfortunately we had to wait at the counter quite awhile to check out because both workers were chatting with customers as we stood behind them with a bill and items to purchase in our hands. We waited 45 minutes for our chicken dinner. There was so much breading on the fried chicken, with very little actual meat inside....mounds of fried breading left on plate! My chicken BLT came 45 minutes late as well and they left out the tomato !!!!! No offer to compliment the meal which should have been done with such poor service. After having been to several Cracker Barrel's in TN, we wanted to take our family to try one. We were in the area and saw the sign, and pulled in for an early dinner. Well, unfortunately this is NOT an example of anything we'd experienced at the other Cracker Barrel's. My wife's meal arrived as we were leaving - the waiter told us the kitchen didn't tell him they were out. He'd also dropped off 1 cornbread muffin earlier saying "that's the last one" as he quickly escaped. We had to ask several times about my wife's order of Chicken and Dumplings. He kept saying that he'd check. Then he would Dodge our table as he went by. I finally cornered him and asked him WHEN. He said he'd go ask. What?? He knew every else at the table had finished their meal, and he didn't even ask the kitchen when her meal might be ready? Worst experience at a restaurant. This was my first visit to this particular Cracker Barrel. The others have been in Alabama and South Carolina. I will start of by saying our waiter was extremely friendly and even upgraded our orders to full meals that would also save us money. I was definitely craving their chicken and dumplings, but the way it is served here just wasn't up to par to my past experiences. The entire meal just wasn't as flavorful as I wanted though it may be better on a health standpoint. The individual chicken pieces were almost as big as chicken fingers so definitely not the easiest to eat. The meal came with two perfectly made biscuits and a choice of three seasonal veggies. I try to eat as healthy as I can, but three is a lot! The green beans and mixed vegetables were pretty much what I expected, but the turnip greens were actually surprisingly good.
